Club Risqué #3

Ties That Bind

Rate this book
Luanna has worked hard to brush off the stigma and scandal of being a single teenage mother. These days, she is better known for her calm composure and serene disposition, but despite that, things start to sizzle between Luanna and her company's legal director, Logan.

Logan might seem like a mild-mannered corporate lawyer, but in lifestyle circles, he is better known as Master Baku, the Shibari expert. His dream is to publish a series of artistic poses which incorporate his three loves – Shibari, suspension, and photography, and he has his sights set on Luanna as the model.

But Luanna has led a deliberately quiet and modest life. She knows nothing about bondage or the intricacies of D/s relationships. She's always had to rely on herself, and her current reputation has been hard won. Even if she decides to throw caution to the wind and finally live a little, is there really any room left in Logan's life for yet another love, especially if she can't find it in herself to share the ones he already has?

Logan has Luanna tied up in knots, both literally and figuratively. Is it possible to find a compromise, or will circumstances conspire to pull them apart?

Publisher's Note: This steamy contemporary romance contains elements of power exchange, it is intended for mature audiences. Though it is part of the Club Risqué series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

This was kinda ridiculous. It’s tiring to hear about what happens over again in the last story. Should just pick up off the information already learned

SHE AND LOGAN TOGETHER—THEY WERE INVINCIBLE

The story is the second in the Club Risque series but could read well enough as a stand-alone. It does have many key people that are in the previous two books. The story is a roller-coaster ride of emotions and truths, assumptions, poor communication, hurt feelings, new beginnings, and trying to bury the past. It is also the beginning of a new relationship, and the introduction into the BDSM scene, but especially Japanese rope work. This will be the story of Luanna Morgan and Logan Thornton.

What a great addition to the series and the chemistry between Luanna and Logan sizzles off the pages. What follows the wedding of Desi and Joel with a nasty altercation towards Charlotte (Fear’s Whisper) will lead them to need places for some of the out-of-town wedding party and Luanna will offer to allow Logan to stay the night at her flat. It doesn’t take, but a short time for these two to become intimate—and considering that it has been years for Luanna that is a huge leap.

The story is full of new beginnings like Luanna learning more about BDSM, but especially shibari and other methods of rope bondage because Logan is a master at the art. It is also full of secrets that eventually will come out and cause major problems. As Desi and Joel leave for their honeymoon, the office is in uproar under Connor, and then Luanna will overhear an office conversation that has her shocked. Has her relationship with Logan been built upon secrets and lies?

There are scenes inside Club Risque that are overwhelming to Luanna, but not enough to scare her away. She is such a strong woman, has handled being a single mother, and displays grit and a backbone. Her willingness to explore rope bondage and placing her trust in Logan opens up a new world. I admire that she never bad-mouths her son’s father, and doesn’t burden Danny with the truth of his rejection. Her only concern is how Danny will handle her relationship with Logan.

The story does have explicit sex scenes, scenes inside of Club Risque, voyeurism and power exchange. It strongly supports the D/s relationship, the trust required between a dominant and submissive, and everything being safe, sane, and consensual. The art of Japanese rope bondage is a big part of this story too.

Really good bondage story

This is book number three in The Club Risqué Series and I really like the series so far. The characters are really interesting and varied, this particular book has Luanna Finance Director and Logan lawyer and Shibari Master. The two of them become involved and Logan gradually introduces Luanna to the joys of bondage while having sex. Logan starts with a type of Shibari rope bondage known for its erotic qualities Karada rope dress.
Later Logan takes Luanna to Club Risqué and shows her around, Luanna is not sure about anything but she is willing to come back next week. Sometime later Logan and Luanna have some what serious problems and they separate for a while, but in the end they do get back together with a little help from Luanna's Danny and there is a nice HEA. I recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading Club Risqué book #4

At this point, jumping to conclusions and stupid misunderstandings seem to be the hallmark of the Club Risque series, which is too bad, because the books are wonderful otherwise. I really like Logan and Luanna, and in the beginning, they're great. He is very patient with her as she learns about his Shibari interests, and becomes interested herself. Plus, his relationship with her son is great. Aside from the aforementioned conclusion jumping and misunderstanding, this book is great. Without that, it could have been a five-star read.

Luanna has had more than her share of being the target of scandal and rumors. She was a teenager when she got pregnant and had done everything she can to make a calm and steady life for her herself, her son and her parents.

Now in her early 30's she doesn't have much relationship experience but when she realizes the head of her company's legal department, Logan is as attracted to her as she is to him, she decides to throw caution to the wind and start dating him. She doesn't know what to think when she finds out about his kink preferences and his role in the newly opened kink club.

Her son Danny is 15 and is a well adjusted kid, that's overjoyed that his mom is dating someone as great as Logan.

Can Luanna and Logan figure out their differences and make something of their chemistry? Or will this new thing between them fizzle out?

Even though this book has some BDSM scenes and elements in it, the book is not shocking, it's more of a gentle introduction to the lifestyle than anything. There is a strong story, along with some steamy scenes, between two consenting adults that are not just looking to put another notch on their bedposts. A beautiful love story and potential father figure for a teenaged boy.

I thought it was great and didn't give it a 5 star only because the book didn't make me cry. Another new to me author, that I look forward to reading more of her work.

This is a story about a man with a strong sexual appetite whose wife leaves him, which he finds loathing, since they have 2 children whom he loves with all his heart. But he also bears guilt that he drove her away with his aggressive and insatiable need for sex. But he is not a wealthy man, and cannot properly care for his ranch and his children without help. So he seeks a mail order bride with the thought that she would probably be homely, and his only desire was to have unpaid help for his children, a cook, and someone to clean. But the woman who arrives is not at all who he thinks she would be. She is beautiful, and he discovers that she lied, and does not know how to care for children or keep house and cook. It is this deception of hers that lead to him punishing her. The story then evolves with the 2 of them beginning to really discover who they are and finding out what each of them needs and to give to the other. It is an interesting jouney.

Terrible story.

This is the fifth book in this series I have read, all out of order, have found them all problematic in one way or another but this one is probably the worst.

Logan, the male lead, was suppose to be an experienced Dom, club Master and longtime kink lifestyler, yet he did not discuss limits, consent or even a safe word with the female lead before he introduced spanking during their first sexual experience together. Worse, during their second time together, he got her all revved up, gagged her, tied her hands, played some more and then got her consent. Then he took things a step further and it was only her obvious fear that made him stop and explain what he was doing and get her consent.

And he was was a hypocrite. He expected Luana to trust him tying her up and taking nude photos of her but he wouldn't trust her with the knowledge that he was one of the owners of the club. And while he was outright lying about his involvement with the club, he was pushing her to be honest with him and trust him.

And he never even bothered to discuss if she wanted to be a sub; he just decided that would be her role and started pushing her to take a submissive course.

It was all just incredibly presumptuous and manipulative.

Worse, she never demanded a conversation about it, instead wondering to herself if that was why she worked to conform to societies rules (when it was already established she did it to vindicate her parent's support of her).

And then, after he said terrible things to her based of assumptions he made-up out of thin air, throwing her humble living situation in her face and practically calling her a mercenary bitch, when he finally approaches her months later outside of work, she just jumps into his arms, no apology necessary. Quote: She wanted to be with him. Only him. Everything else was secondary in importance. Like your self-respect and the example you are setting for your son.

Do not recommend.

Outside of 'Captive Heart', every female lead in this series has been a pathetic doormat that needs to learn how to love herself first and the male leads have all been awful people who don't deserve a happily ever after and even 'Captive Heart', which I found to be a compelling read, skated close to that a few times.

So this is the last one I am reading.

'Ties That Bind' is book three in Poppy Flynn's "Club Risqué" series and I have to say, these books just get better and better the further into this series I get! Luanna, our heroine, finds herself pregnant at sixteen. Of course, their families are not part of the same social circle as her father works for his father's company. Alone in her thoughts and frightened by the impending situation she had to wait until they returned to school from break. When he didn't show up, she knew where he'd and went to talk to him. What she finds there is the catalyst that will change her entire personality and form the woman she becomes; a calm, mature, level-headed woman who, even though she has a child, is still very innocent about sex. Fast forward fifteen years and we find Desi has hired her to work in the finance department where she comes meets Logan, the company's attorney. That's not the only side to Logan's personality though. He's also part owner of both Club Risqué BDSM clubs. He's the Shibari Master known as Master Baku. He is a true artist in his pursuit with an ultimate dream of having his work photographed and published in order to share what he considers the beauty of a misunderstood kink. I'm finding that Ms. Flynn has a way of pulling emotional reactions from me as I witness her submissives flounder and then find their feet and strength all while watching her strong, self-confident Doms become human and second-guess their situations and actions once they've developed the foot-in-mouth syndrome. The teenage son just adds frosting to an already delicious cake and I loved his reactions and insight when he gave them. There's nothing not to love with this storyline and like the blurb states, it can be read as a standalone but there's an overall theme that ties these books together, whereas as a reader, I was able to get the full scope of each of these characters and how they're tied together.

The third in this great series, can read as a stand-alone book…
Although this is the third book in the series it is possible to read the book as a stand-alone if you want to see what this very erotic series has in store, once you find out you will most definitely want to read the first two books as well. Logan had first met Luanna at the wedding of his friend and when it just happens that Logan needs a room in which to stay over Luanna offers her sons bedroom, of course they both totally ignore that they are more than a little interested in each other.
As those of you that have read the first two books in the series it has been the case so fat that usually it is the female character that makes the first move, they are the not afraid to go after what they want and why should they be it’s an equal society, well it’s supposed to be however, that is in fact so often not the case.
The characters in this book were very well written and the interactions between them were very well written it was a pleasure to read and once you begin to read it is impossible to put the book down until you reach the end of the story and discover the outcome.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Office Misunderstanding

I really liked this story, the son Danny makes it great fun and even had me laughing a bit. There are quite a few overlapping stories in this series and unfortunately this book very much overlaps at more than one couples tale. AFTER Jake's story i expected a brief recap of what had occurred maybe even 2 or 3 chapters then to be caught up to that point where Jake's story ended... unfortunately its more like this story ends just slightly after Jake's story so its like you read a different version of the same story and I didn't like how I was anticipating what I knew was going to be next... that meant parts of this story were repeats and not very exciting. The fight over the pictures was an example it was in Jake's story and the same thing was in this story... I was excited to read this book based on that teaser into their story but it was disappointing that part is near the end in both books... I enjoyed the story but it was Danny who made this story fun just being a teenager. The rope play was interesting too and I felt for Lu and Lance constantly facing issues, but Lu really did forgive quite easily... 3 times and none were small things. HE sure was lucky. I hope The next story doesn't start off at the same period... since in this story she was at the club but he wasn't.

Our heroine is a tough single mom, our hero a corporate lawyer and master of shibari. Will she let him teach her a few new tricks?

This is book three in the series. It stand well on its own, but I was confused for a while by all the supporting characters that I was supposed to know. I did straighten things out, but I look forward to going back and getting the background.

This is a BDSM romance with a focus on ropework, shibari in particular. I am a little tired of the BDSM 101 intro in every book of the genre that I read, but the focus on bondage is this one I found rather refreshing and helped me get over that. My one other complaint is the usual miscommunications and assumptions made by the characters. Just be honest and talk for a change.

Those complaints out of the way, I really enjoyed the story. I found it to be well written and easy to follow (other then the aforementioned cast of supporting characters) and the characters to be solid and well developed. I liked how they worked together to build a relationship and the chemistry that developed between them. I do look forward to future books in the series, as well as going back to catch the earlier ones.

Highly recommended.

Gotta say this book was a bit ploddy and annoying af!

Its hard to read a book that re hashes events from the previous book, infact its downright boring.

So all the lead up to the photos incident were mostly tedious.

Add in he treated her like a piece of shit and she just let's him back in. Called her horrid names n basically a gold digger who lived in a slum n she just forgives him.

Nah that just doesn't work for me. Luanna just let's him off time and again. He kept secret about going to the club for 9 days, doing a scene with desi and about owning the club. But luanna is cool she was ok with it all.

Erm no she must be brain dead! What normal woman would react that way? Oh n finding out her friend had been intimate with him. And she's cool again.

Fuck me get some balls woman!!!

Annoying af!!! Didnt like this fmc at all.

Also: condom note, they used the ones she bought her her 15 yr old son. But logan had a very thick dick, normal condoms dont fit you have to get ones that fit big dicks otherwise they dont fully go on and they're so tight on their decks its very very uncomfortabl!! Just saying.

Loved it! A different kind of BDSM story. Great characters and story lines... I enjoyed all 3 books and can't wait for a book on Conner and Micah..... The only two problems I had with this story is 1) The author is in England and her words show that, there are alot of English words that aren't used here in the USA and you have to figure out what the sentence means. Another is alot of the spelling is off - English way of spelling or a misspell? understand the author is English but if the books are sold in the USA then a better format is needed. There are misc spelling errors or wrong words used "that/than" the author needs to pay attention to her edits 2) When Logan is "thrashing" Luanna over the magazine, he is pretty vile to her, then in the epilogue all is HEA - it would be nice to how how they made up and he apologized for what he said 3) There are a few inconsistencies in the same story line within all 3 books.

Over all I loved it, I really can't wait for the next book!

This is book 3 in the Club Risque series. It isn't necessary to read the first two, but it will help you understand what is going on.

Logan and Luanna meet at their friends' wedding. When Logan needs a room to stay in, Luanna offers her son's bedroom. Of course, they don't need it as they both acknowledge their attraction for one another.

Of course, the men in this series are kind of clueless. Logan makes assumptions more than once and it takes a toll on their relationship. Luanna is nothing more than brutally honest and has a hard time accepting anything less. There is a HEA and a nice segue into what I hope is the next book in the series, Connor and Laurel's story.

I give this an enthusiastic 5 stars and I encourage you to go back and read the first two books in the series!

This book is truly awesome!! Really page turner. I wanted to keep reading but emotions riding high and I needed breaks.
The story is beautiful with characters that have such awesome chemistry it’s unbelievable.
The story has something else in it,you may learn something
The first trust, the second believe in yourself. Believing,is something that could be missing very easily.
People talk,belittling,bullying and really anything
Lulu knows who she is and this keep her unyielding and uncompromising. Even it hurts. She knows she is worthy .
Danny, her son bring some laughs to the story. Logan, clueless man in love
Beside that,book is scorching hot

I loved this book! While it is book 3 in this series, I haven't read book 1 but have no problem following the storyline in this book as it's completely standalone. If ever there was a couple that simply work together, it's Logan & Luanna. Luanna was a teenage mother & is now the mother of a teenager when Logan enters their lives. I found it wonderful having such a character in a book. I've often read of single mothers of younger children, but the inclusion of a teenage child brought a whole new dimension. Of course, things don't run smoothly, but there is a very satisfying HEA to this read. I appreciated that this book moved along at a nice pace & didn't rush through the relationship. This gave the characters time to develop. Looking forward to more by this author.

This is another great, smoking hot story, the 3rd book in this series, by Ms. Flynn. I thoroughly enjoyed this story about Luanna, a single mother and Logan, a Corporate lawyer. Luanna decides to find out more about the BDSM lifestyle and what Logan is into by doing research on her computer and by asking Logan and her friends. This all causes twists and turns to the plot. This book is professionally written and fast paced with many likable characters. I think that this book can be read as a standalone but I strongly encourage you to read the first 2 previous books in this series, you won't regret it.

This is the first book that I've read in the series, and definitely leaves me wanting to read the first two books to catch up. Both of the characters in this one are very likeable. The author does a really good job of introducing Luanna in the prologue. It helped me connect with her from the start. Logan comes in a little later, but with his slow charm it didn't take long to connect with him as well. The BDSM in this one is pretty light, but definitely spices things up. This book is a little longer than the books I normally read, but it flowed really well and kept my interest to the end.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This author has a very nice writing style and although this is book 3 in a series, I have not read the previous 2 books and was still able to enjoy this one. The 2 main characters, Luanna and Logan have an immediate connection with each other. There are some significant differences in their love life, Logan being into BDSM and especially ropes whilst Luanna has no idea about the BDSM lifestyle and so Logan has to teach her, which he’s more than happy to do! The plot is an easy to follow one and it’s enjoyable to read. The characters are well written and consistent throughout the story. This book althugh part of a series can easily be read as a standalone. Each book in the series is great, very well written and described. The books can be read in any order. I loved the interaction between Logan and Louanna. It's hot and explosive. This story brilliantly described shibari. There are plenty of hot spicy sexy scenes and other elements to hold the readers interest. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I highly recommend it. Ties That Bind is book three of the Club Risqué series. Each book can be enjoyed as a standalone read.

Logan, a lawyer, meets Luanna the first time at a wedding of a friend. As soon as they meet, the sparks are flying. When Logan needs a place to sleep, it is Luanna who offers an out. This is the beginning of a wonderful and intriguing romance. Aside from two characters with a combustive chemistry, there are also smoking hot intimate scenes and great dialogue. I loved reading Ties That Bind.

This book is part of the Club Risque series but each one can easily be read as a standalone story. Like the previous books, Ties That Bind, is very well written.
I enjoyed the interaction between the hero and heroine - the characters, Logan and Louanna. This story describes shibari which is an art form as well as a sexual aid within BDSM. There are plenty of steamy scenes with clever elements of powerexchange which held my interest throughout.
I recommend this series - you won't be disappointed!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I applaud and admire Luanne, a strong woman who has borne adversity with honor and humility. Logan should grovel at her feet that she is a woman of integrity when he could not be honest with her about so many things to guard secrets that were not important to their relationship and it took Luanne's son to bring it home to him. This book is a well written page turner.

Luanna had a rough life, getting pregnant at 16 and abandoned by her boyfriend. But that didn’t stop her from bringing up her child right, telling him about his dad without blaming him. 16 years later she falls in love, for real, she thought, with all her heart only to find when things get rough, he too abandons her.
