When former Marine, Kyle, is laid off from his security job, the next job he lands is at a pot dispensary. Sounds iffy, but that's where he meets Candy, his boss, who he falls head over heels in love with.
I do believe this is Luke's debut novel, and he did a great job because Five Second Rule is sweet, sexy and entertaining. I loved the chemistry between Kyle and Candy, and found Kyle in particular to be interesting and likable. I am looking forward to much, much more from this new author!

I apologize in advance for being harsh, but I’m still confused about what I read. I’m not even sure if I should take this book seriously! Pot shops, women in bikinis all around, cringey dirty talk like from some porn movie..it was straight up like from some teenager’s wet dream!
Up until half way through the book the plot was nonexistent and characters were one dimensional. The connection between Kyle and Candy was also nonexistent until they went to his cabin. Then suddenly she also finds him irresistible and the next day they are in love. They were too childish and immature for me. The conversation was like between college students not adults in I assume late twenties. I also didn’t care about childish nicknames and don’t see how the title has anything to do with the story. The only thing I liked was part with Steven and Wendy. So unfortunately I can’t give more than 2 stars.
I understand this is a new author and I hope this will encourage him to become better. I believe that author has potential and I will check his future work.

ONE STEAMY ADVENTURE!!!
Ouch! Talk about sizzling. Man, I'm in love with this hot and spicy number. I don't know what I expected from this author, but what I found was an incredible storyline and sizzling plot that brings this little jewel steaming its way to life flawlessly. Luke pulls all those deep emotions and strong connections into play smooth and silk. He does miss a beat. All the trials and tribulations the characters go through just pulls this little guy together beautifully. Twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few glitches and scrapes make for one enjoyable experience. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it's easy to relate and sink into this little jewel and lose yourself in the wonder of a budding relationship. Fantastic job Luke, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

Great story by a first time author
This story was a quick read full of smiles, romance and action. The author seemed well informed on the subject of marijuana's medical use and some of the symptoms it can help control. This information was woven into the story in a way that easily supported the narrative and action. I always enjoy a story that teaches me something while it entertains me. I also enjoyed reading a book written by a male and experiencing that perspective on romance. I look forward to reading his future publications and will sign up to be notified when they come out.

A fun romance read from the male perspective
Five Second Rule by Luke Splendor is a really fun read and a really good first book from this author. I am always intrigued to read romance written by men. This one was worth it! While I’m used to either single POV of the female character or dual/multi character POV, this was the first all male character POV I have read so far (in the romance genre). I really enjoyed it a lot!
The plot of this book is very interesting and suspenseful as well as a current issue. It’s definitely a hot topic of debate for some but not a big deal for me. I’d read more with a similar plot. And the characters were really great too, I was hooked and totally invested in them.
Overall, I think I may have discovered a new author to follow and I definitely won’t hesitate to try his next romance/romantic suspense.

This is the first book I have read by Luke Splendor but it won't be the last! As soon as I started reading I knew I wouldn't be able to put it down with great characters and a fresh well-written story that kept me engaged and intrigued with suspense, humor and sexy romance. I loved the instant attraction and chemistry between former Marine Kyle and Candy who manages the pot store where he is one of the guards. Fans of this genre should plan to read Five Second Rule. I look forward to reading more from this gifted author. I received an advance reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and unbiased review.

Kyle is an ex marine that just lost his job. When searching for another, he gets hired by a pot store. On his interview he was very intrigued by the manager, Candy. She was very stand offish and he intended to find out her story. Kyle got to earn his money when someone came into to rob them and he was a super hero and stopped it. However, it left Candy freaked out. Kyle took her to his cabin to see if he could bring her back down to earth and things took off from there.
This was a very different story. It wasn't my cup of tea but it was still good (ex Marine, yes..pot store, nope) 3.5 from me on this one.

Things get complicated quickly as others come in including owners and family members. As Kyle and Candy realize they have something, will all these other people drive them apart or bring them closer?
Definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment.

I personally found this book to be a bit far fetched for my tastes and didn't really have any real storyline until the middle of the book. You have a pot shot, an ex-marine, woman in bikini's, men who have no clue how to be security guards and Kyle who knows what he is doing but wants Candy desperately.. I just didn't get into the book as a whole. Now having said that, just because this book wasn't for me doesn't mean it won't be enjoyable for you. Please read all of the reviews as well as the authors synopsis to see if this might just be your next book.

Great plot, fast moving. Characters were fleshed out well and were interesting. My one complaint about this book is that the author used words inappropriately. In other words, the word used did not have the same meaning as what he was trying to say. Use your Thesaurus if in doubt about the word or spelling that you intend to use.
I hope that Mr Splendor takes this advice because I would definitely read his work again. I just don't like to have to proofread and/or edit while enjoying a good story.

An intriguing well written very steamy and sweet romance. The storyline is exciting, fun, steamy, and exciting, with drama, action, and suspense in this fast paced story. The twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few glitches kept me turning the pages from beginning to end. The characters are exciting, easily relatable, amazing banter and have an instant connection with plenty of chemistry. i honestly and voluntarily reviewed this ARC.

Some things did not connect in the story. Several things were repeated often and unnecessarily. Kyle getting the job at the store. The title explanation. Five seconds is about eating food of the floor. There is nothing between Kyle and Candy until the attack, and suddenly they have a deep connection. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

FANTASTIC! 💙 I really enjoyed reading this book, it was absolutely refreshing reading from the male's perspective and how he feels about the woman that captured his heart. 💙 The storyline was amazing on every level. There is suspense, excitement, sexy sexual experiences, compassion and love with plenty of twists and turns.

I very much enjoyed this book. I have a handicapped daughter who has Dystonia since she was 18years old Landis in a motorized wheelchair an can't walk an never will . This book but me to the core the plot the whole story is very well written with all the characters! I couldn't out it down ! Can't wait for your next book ! Well done

Hot steamy and refreshing
Luke Splendor has a hit with this quick steamy novel. He includes all my must haves for a romance that hooks me good. A little action and adventure. A little bit of danger. And a WHOLE lot of spicy hotness. I especially loved how, instead of the heroine, this book centers on Kyle's POV but with all the feels. OUTSTANDING!!!

This story had potential but for me the “insta-lust/love” was not believable. Also the dialogue between the H/h was more teenager than adult and made it hard to feel a connection with them. I gave this 3 stars because I think this author will continue to improve and I will certainly watch for future releases.

I'm so happy for this new romance novelest. Luke has a good handle on my favorite part of books . . . Dirty Talk! I loved his expansion of his characters and the storyline too. I'll be looking forward to his next book and his continued expansion in hearing both men AND women's use of Dirty Talk (so damned HOT)!

Wow!! Awesome first book!!
It was really hard to stop the happy tears the last 2 chapters. I bought this book just because the author is married to one of my favorite authors. You know the loyalty thing? But he did not disappoint! I loved the story and how it played out. I really hope he continues to write. I would love to hear Owens story(hint) :)

Surprisingly good
The name threw me off and had me moving the book back on my read list. But after the first chapter I was hooked! I'm not one to give stuff away in my reviews because everyone judges things differently. But I will say this if you want to know why people like me support medical marijuana read this book.

I really liked this book was a good read liked it but would have been told from both characters views instead of of all on his side but it was a good book liked it very much would definitely like to to read his friend Owens story if you intend to write it.

Loving Luke's book! This has the right amount of heat and sweet, danger and intrigue. Kyle and Candy have instant chemistry, he just has to prove that he wants her for keeps, baggage and all. Such a great read!!!!

What a great first book! Kyle is an ex navy seal & he now works as a security guard. Everytime he gets settled he looses his job because the place is studying down. He starts work for pot shop where he meets Candy!

I don't usually read romances written by guys because the sex scenes...cringe. I enjoyed the story over all but there was some repetition and some disconnection for me. I actually enjoyed the secondary characters Stephen and Wendy more.

Unapologetically raw, sexy and there is definitely a more masculine bent on this story.
Some action, danger, heat, heart, chemistry, great chracters and storyline that addresses some needed and controversial issues.

Pretty good.
I enjoyed the male view. So many have just the female view, that this was refreshing. The story was good, very current and thought provoking. It got a little slow in spots, but I will read this author again.
