Taylor Rollins grew up in an unconventional household. When she turned 18, her father placed her and her twin, Travis on the company payroll to work alongside him as mercenaries. Taylor was the best long distance shooter on the team, which came in handy when they rescued five Marines who had been held captive in by a cruel, tyrant in the Middle East.
Major Moses Sanderson thought he was tough and could handle anything until he and his small team was taken hostage by hostiles and tortured daily for two months. When Moses learns they were betrayed by one of their own he couldn’t rest until the culprit was hunted down and brought to justice.
The problem with finding a traitor in a foreign country was compounded by Moses’ injuries and Taylor’s personal problems. Together they would need to find common ground to solve both challenges without losing focus or giving into the fiery attraction they felt for each other. Join Moses and Taylor’s adventure across the globe and Versteck Valley.
"Hello,I'm a self-proclaimed read-a-holic. I love most genres and would rather read than do most things. Stands to reason, that I'd have this inexplicable love affair with the written word!
Reading was the balm that soothed me during tough times as a single mother, working two jobs. As things leveled out, I found I enjoyed the places books took me, there was a certain solace learning about various times and cultures. When I began traveling, many of the places I visited felt like old friends. I could envision the characters from the books walking the cobbled streets, or running along the swift moving streams.
After twenty years of reading and collecting my favorite authors, I decided to indulge my passion for storytelling. I took classes, invested in seminars and sat nervously across the table from editors. It was a lengthy process, Finally, I got the courage to allow the market to judge my work. The market can be a brutal, but I think fair, mistress. Hard work is rewarded and appreciated. Slackers don't stand a chance. :-)."
Honestly I was so happy to get this book. I couldn't wait to get started on this book. But since I got the book I was extremely busy.
So it took me a lot longer to read the book. But from the little times I manage to read the book it left me starving to sit somewhere to get farther in depth with it.
Needless to say I REALLY ENJOYED this book I absolutely love this book. Taylor, Travis & Moses is not one to be messed with.
But the main person I'm in love with is Taylor. She's really bad butt. Her cool and calm persona is one that you'll really enjoy. She wasn't kidding when she tells her uncle Thomas that she isn't the nice twin.
Its funny because I tell people that when it comes to my other siblings and I. I agree with the fact that you do have your nice ones, and your mean ones and its true.
This book left me with a lot of surpises. I do agree with Taylor when she tries to get her brother and father to understand that she is fine without calling her birth mother, mom.
Her birth mother left her twins babies (Taylor & Travis) with their father beacuse of her religion, & not have enough confidencein herself. She lived her life and even got married starting a new life with kids and husband. Taylor came to terms with it and consider her great grandmother her mother. But when Travis finds their birth mother to get answers, she ends up wanting a relationship shit them. Esp. wants a mother and daughter relationship with Taylor, but she wasn't having it.
On these scene I fully understand where Taylor is coming from. If I am in the same state of mind as Taylor is, living my best life and came in terms with things I wouldn't want to have that either. Esp since I already have a mother figure. I wouldn't feel compelled to have that relationship with someone who only gave birth to me.
I agree with her for the simple fact that she's not mad at her for abandoning them. But she's made her peace with it and that she doesn't want that relationship. She just cannot see her as a mother. But instead is trying and I do mean trying to give her a friend ship.
Now moving pass all that Moses is one man that you will enjoy reading about. He is a man that will take care of his own. A true leader and protector. And even though he's gets a bad injury that doesn't stop him from kicking bad guys butts.
The confidence and the boldness of Moses is one that will make your mouth water. When I read the summary I thought for sure I knew who sold him and his team out. It had to be someone either on his team or someone in his higher up. So I figure it was Jason since he was the one with the lesser wounds. But I was very surpise that I was wrong. Then I was excited to find out if he was going to catch the person. Then when Taylor got even more involved with him I kept thinking if these two have children their gonna have to not only deal with over protective patents but the entire Family. Lol.
Needless to say I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read about Drake's book.
Travis and Taylor Rollins came from a family that did not play. They went on specialized mercenary missions with their father Turner. One mission led them to accidentally saving a team of Marines the had been captured, including Major Moses Sanderson originally from Versteck Valley, the cousin, and business partner to Asher Pendergrass. The five men were badly tortured and on the verge of death, especially Moses, who was the worst. Taylor whispered in his unconscious ear words of encouragement to fight for his life. Once he recovered he had to find out who saved his team and who was responsible for selling them out. Once Taylor and her twin Travis met Moses and his partner, Capt. Everett Jones, they found that they worked well together in their searching and solving problems. Taylor and Moses worked well together like a well-oiled machine. They kept their attraction to each other tamped down until their search for Turner and Fiona Jilani, the twins' mother was found. Taylor was attracted to the man who showed quiet strength without complaint even though he was still healing and in pain, he got the job done. He was attracted to Taylor whom he found not only beautiful but smart, quick-witted and a badass lady Rambo.
Erosa wrote a story that was full of action-packed drama with a plot turning twist. The plot twist at the end was mind blowing to find out who was behind the kidnapping. The family dynamics of the lack of a mother in their children's lives and the effects on the children was discussed. Be it through perceived abandonment or death, the grandparents played a pivotal role in stabilizing Turner, Taylor and Travis' lives. Nana Cherise and Pappa Niles must have an interesting story that begs to be told. Even Clifford and Selene's story sound like it could be interesting as well. My heart went out to Moses when he had his nightmare of his capture. Erosa wrote it in a way that I actually felt the fear and angst that he was going through. I enjoyed reading this story. It held my attention from beginning to end. The ending was just a little lackluster but I guess with all of the action and drama, the ending would be a little bit of a let down.
I really enjoyed this book and in particular how Taylor was strong, smart and as qualified as anybody else. What spoiled it for me was Moses, her dad, her grandparents and Fiona’s attitude. Let’s start with the easiest one Fiona. I’m sorry but how dare she try to manipulate Taylor into a relationship to make herself feel better? She made her choices decades ago, by all accounts it was the right decision at the time, now that Travis inserted herself she wants to rewrite history and play mommy. That’s selfish. Taylor should be the one deciding what type of relationship they have and she repeatedly said she didn’t want one. Fiona should respect that. Her dad, now wanting back in with Fiona is trying to push her as well, using emotional blackmail and that’s unfair. If he wants a relationship with Fiona’s that’s his business, he shouldn’t push to make himself feel better about the situation. Her grandparents, well all this secrecy whilst blaming Turner is ridiculous. I really disliked the grandmother’s comment about turning her into Rambo and therefore what’s she’s offering not being enough. That was disrespectful to Taylor’s skills (on top of that she loves what she does) and self serving. As for Moses, they really fit together and I understand that he had a traumatic experience, however his comment at the beginning about how he wouldn’t like having someone gone and not knowing where they were really rubbed me the wrong way. He is a soldier so anybody with whom he has a relationship with will have to deal with that so he should be more understanding than most. I understand the fear but it’s the sacrifice that millions of armed forces families make and without that they wouldn’t be an armed force. I didn’t like the book ending, too many loose ends. We needed an epilogue covering the next steps (after Christmas I guess) and after Moses retirement (why is he retiring? He can’t be because of PTSD, most soldiers suffer from it and still carry on). I was left with an unfinished sensation. It would be great if Taylor and Travis build their own business or team utilizing her grandparents and Asher/Moses set up.
I really wanted to like this book. After reading Asher I was eager to begin the second book in the series. I should have waited I can't believe this is the same author. This story dragged on and on. Despite the slow pace I couldn't get a sense of Moses or Taylor. I got the impression she was a teenage girland not an adult assassin. Still don't know much about Moses. I can honestly say I don't really care about either of them. And don't get me started on all the secondary characters. Who are Nana and Papa and grandmother and blah blah blah. I was getting ready to start a genealogy chart to keep track of all these people. Hope the third book in the series; Drake, is better. But after the preview I read at the end of Moses, I'm skeptical.
This was great! Just when you thought you had it all figured out, there’s another enemy waiting in the shadows! Glad to get Moses’ story. I think he and Taylor are a perfect match. Moses is sexy as hell and I love how he accepts Taylor’s strength and independence. Taylor is definitely not one to play with. I love her no nonsense, tell it like it is attitude. I’m looking forward to Drake’s story and what Papa and Nana have been hiding from the twins. I think Nana already knows about Versteck Valley.
I absolutely loved this. I love every character. Moses & taylor had such great chemistry. I can not express enough how refreshing Taylor character is, a black woman character who is beautiful, smart & capable. Im so tired of how black women are written in the romance genre, especially the interracial romances. They are always so insecure, boring & downtrodden with heavy emphasis on them being "unattractive."" Taylor was so much fun. A heroine worth rooting for, I wish we could get more characters like her. I loved her & Moses dynamic. This was so good.
This romance novel was an amazing and interesting book. Moses and Taylor 's romance began from a search and reduce mission. It contains drama, intrigue, murder, hope, tragedy, betrayal, and funding true, love. I can't wait for the next installment of this series to come out... I will be recommending this series to everyone I know!!!! Another great book Erosa Knowles!
Moses had a hero in Taylor! She saved his life and claimed him as hers. I love this series because the men and women are equals. This book is full of action, intrigue, suspense and romance! Awesome characters and storyline! 😉Thank you Erosa Knowles, you get it right every time. I love romantic suspense! Love your style!
This intricately woven book has an unforgettable h/h and multiple interesting characters. The storyline keeps you in suspense, grabs your attention and has you eagerly awaiting what happens next. Intense connection, fiery heat, honor of service, add in some bad guys, this is a must read.
I have enjoyed Moses And Taylor’s story just as much as I have enjoyed Ashers stories. Great plot twists, great families and friends, except the a few bad apples. The only thing missing from the two books are Epilogues. It would have been nice to see what they have been up to in the future.
Wow love it Taylor kick but woman love and Moses alpha all the way. Love the drama and tail kicking by Taylor her twin and moses. They fit in with set that Asher in their town. Love it
This was a wonderful read! It was one of those books that I started reading and did not want to put down. The twins were great characters, with depth. The family drama added a tremendous amount of intrigue to the story. I can’t wait to read Drakes story.
I was truly saddened when I finished this book. I loved Moses and Taylor together. They both were no nonsense types and honest to the core. Can't wait for Drake's story.
Another Hit that's not loaded with just sex acts. There's a real story behind this book. It kept me engaged through the entire book. Can't wait for Drake's story. That sounds like non-stop action
I have admit; I enjoyed this story a lot better than Asher's story for some reason. Now I will have to go back and re-read it to make sure. Keep up the great writing. Moses and Taylor are a great couple.
My second book . Again I am so ready for the next one . I love the the stories you write. The way you tell it leaves you wanting more ,turning page after page to see what happens next . I like series especially more like this and I would buy every one.
Protecting, caring, loving and doing what is necessary is Moses way then he meets Taylor and the magic happens. I love the way they band together to fix the problem and protect the one's they love. Versteck men are strong!!! Waiting for the next book!!
Love in action! Again Erosa has delivered an amazing action packed story. Her ability to write a strong girl power kick asks love story continues to amaze me. If you read any of her books you will not be disappointed!
Moses and Taylor were perfect for each other. From first sight and in Moses case first hearing they were meant for each other even if they didn't come to the realization till later. Loved this story. The realistic description of the prisoners suffering and the resulting PTSD. Moses didn't act too macho to talk about his nightmares and received wonderful support from all especially Taylor. Looking forward to the next installment.
Wow! This series has so much going on. It was a bit difficult keeping all of the people involved straight. Great story about real life truths of human behavior. I hope to see this series continue.
I loved reading this story. My emotions were engaged and I could barely put it down. I just had to find out what happened...and I didn't see it coming. Very entertaining
Love reading this book! The characters and storyline were great. I would definitely recommend this book to friends and family. The book deserves 5 stars because of the storyline and it kept my interest.
This story is okay but have a good storyline. Taylor is a strong woman who is loyal to those loyal to her. Moses survives his capture but his new reality changes him. They make a good couple, but it was a disconnect for me because some detail confused me. For instant, Taylor is described as both fair and dark complexion. But overall, the story has a good flow to it.
This is an excellent and complex story. Modes is in the military and assignment goes south and he and his team are captured and tortured for two months. He and his are rescued by another team who knew nothing about them but refused to leave them behind. Good plot, character development, action scenes.
