Based on the massively successful cw show, Riverdale, this prequel novel explores what the gang was doing before season one. Why did jughead and Archie have a falling out? What did veronica's life look like in the big Apple? And how long has Betty really been in love with Archie? Told from multiple points of view, your favorites characters tell their story their way.

I can see why this is always available at the library. This was simply not good. I'd even go as far as saying that the gossip girl books are better than this, and those are something else.
i suppose this book could be fun but i genuinely think the show is better and more entertaining so just watch the show.
This book was meant to be basked on the Riverdale series. I found it hard to keep up with with the different characters at different times and the little diary entry’s and texts (etc), were completely unrelated to what had happened in the little part of that character’s entry. The story line was bland as the plot wasn’t engaging and there was multiple things happening at once. I like the idea of a Riverdale book series but this just was not it. The only thing that i found interesting is you find out what happened to the characters before the series started (insight on Betty’s internship, Veronica’s lifestyle in NYC and Jughead’s and Archie’s friendship).

If we are all being honest Riverdale is like a really chaotic fever dream but I will admit that I watch it cause it’s an easy viewing when there is nothing on Netflix.
Because of this I decided to try out the first book which is based before & during everything that went down in the first episode. The first few chapters I got through pretty well but I struggle to get through the rest, leading to me having to take a long break from this book. Eventually I picked it back up again and finished it, it was decent enough to get some backstory etc but I wouldn’t say I’d rush to read this again.
I wasn’t a particularly keen fan of this book. There were a few redeeming qualities for me in this novel, however I personally found they were overpowered by the factors of this book that made it more unpleasant than relaxing to read. I liked the epilogue and prologue, which gave some sort of description and context for the actual book, and I also enjoyed how this story seemed to be highlighting how it was intertwined with varying amounts of significance in the characters’ lives. I think the multiple perspectives did help aid this idea to come forth, and I do generally like books with several perspectives, but there simply wasn’t enough of a background introduced, nor an understanding of the plot for this amount of confusion to be avoided. It was undeniably confusing and irritating as a reader to not understand all that was going on, because I only ever received glimpses into each characters’ story and then a few mysterious emails or messages throughout a network which included characters and scenarios I wasn’t yet familiarised with. This book was relatively fast paced, which helped me to escape a reading slump I’ve been experiencing, however I didn’t end up feeling very fond or attached to this story. I think the amount of background knowledge given to me as a reader also left a shallow understanding of each of the characters, which made it a lot less enjoyable or even interesting to read about because I simply couldn’t comprehend exactly what the author was implying. I’m unsure if, since I've never read or watched anything related to this, I may have not grasped what this prequel is leading up to and would otherwise enjoy this, but regardless, I wouldn’t recommend this book.
This cover is gorgeous and perfectly suited to the story. I love the mix of simplicity and tiny details.
Riverdale - The Day Before' is a great read for everyone who likes the CW show because you get to know all the amazing characters from a different angle. They seem more innocent, even naive at times. The story goes way back to the very beginnings of our beloved quartet's friendship. When their lives were simpler. I like how this prequel shows the reader how it all started.
But not only that, this story is also the perfect entry for Riverdale-Newbs into this amazing world. As the great thing is, you don't have to have watched the show before reading this prequel.
Micol Ostow's writing style is captivating and while reading, I felt as if I'd been standing right next to the characters. This book is easy to read and great for in between with it's shorter chapters. The characters are authentic and easily lovable.
With 'Riverdale - The Day Before', Micol Ostow created a great entry into the world of Riverdale. I enjoyed joining Betty, Archie, Jug, and Veronica in their earliesr adventure and can absolutely recommend this story.
Thank you so much to Scholastic Books for sending me a free copy of this book for my review!
I have been obsessed with Riverdale for a while and when I saw they were publishing books based on the show, I was beyond excited. I love how the author writes about all of the characters and how each chapter of this book was told from a different character's point of view. My favorite characters by far are Jughead and Betty and I'm so excited to read the other books in this series.
The writing style kept me engaged throughout the whole book and I loved getting to see what happened before the main story of Riverdale, it gave a great background to the characters and what actually led up to the fateful night.
I have loved Archie comics and the Riverdale show so I thought I would love this book. The book is good overall, but I think since the show has been on for so long, readers will only think of what happened in the first season of the show versus what is actually happening in the book. I also ended up listening to this as an audio book and I was hoping that the audio would be done by the cast of Riverdale. It was disappointing that it wasn't the cast, but eventually I got over it. The prequel was very similar to the show so I felt that I didn't actually need to read it.
Riverdale is one of my favorite shows to watch and I was really excited to see that there was going to be books about what happened before the series started and filling in the gaps between seasons.
3.25 I didn’t have any expectations going in to this book. It was lighthearted and had a touch of mystery. Overall it was just a little juvenile in writing style for me but still a fun read.
I loved this book so much . I really love Riverdale so I was really excited to read this . The book it base a couple of days before Jason disappeared . And It ends where the show starts such a great ending . Reading jughead say this Made me scream out of joy
