The politics in this book are grey - conservative propaganda leaning. It's a bit disappointing since the ideas and the ways that social media and news are expressed are interesting and weird in a good way. The whole plot felt like the inspiration for J K Rowlings "Ink Black Heart" - and that's not good at all.

I remember a Black Mirror episode dealing with simular themes, but in a way less politically charged environment. I guess it was a theme in Britain for a while.
