*Includes a happily-ever-after bonus story*
Dane MacKenzie has made mistakes, but despite them all, he's reconnected with the woman he's always loved and the son he never knew he had. A carefully planned seduction, an old legend, and a family that never gives up on each other will give Dane his second chance at love.
Liliana Hart spent five years teaching music in the public education system. She molded America’s youth, busted kids for smoking pot in the restrooms, and broke up illicit affairs behind the stage on a regular basis. (Liliana’s Addison Holmes Mystery Series, about a small town teacher who gets into a whole lot of trouble, is somewhat autobiographical, but she won’t confess to which parts).
Liliana began reading romance novels with all her new found free time, and when she ran out of things to read, she decided to write her own novels. The result was a 150,000 word thriller—a dazzling adventure—where the heroine was a thirty-year-old virgin assassin (Yes, you read that right). She couldn’t imagine why people weren’t knocking down her door to read it, but she persevered and began writing a second book. She finally got the hang of things, and eventually learned that losing one’s virginity wasn’t all that romantic after all. All of her books involve some kind of suspense (she just can't help herself), laughter, and a lot of steamy sex.
Since the failure of her first attempt, Liliana’s books have won awards such as: The Daphne Du Maurier, The Suzannah, The Linda Howard Award of Excellence, The Maggie, and many others. Her affiliations include Romance Writers of America and Mystery Writers of America.
Liliana loves to cook, and is addicted to reading, Internet Boggle, kickboxing, and Bones. She lives in a big, rambling house in Texas with a couple of cats to keep her company. She loves to get emails from readers.
1 - DANE’S RETURN June 2020 2.5 stars for unbelievability. I have read this ages ago but didn't remember it, not surprising really. Reread in the box set through Kindle Unlimited. Original review from 2017 stands. This is the introduction to a new series but it has not enamoured me at all. A quick free read that I expected so much more from. A second chance romance that is really a poor substitute for a story. The author needs to rewrite this into a real story that isn't 50% sex. I didn't connect with either Charlotte or Dane, I had no feelings one way or another about them and that is sad. I expected more and got less within two chapters. I'm sorry but Charlotte having sex with Dane 2 mins after he walked back into her life, then again later the same day, without protection, just ruined it for me. Didn’t she learn about getting pregnant the first time around. Making it out to be that they have always loved each other is just rubbish. 10 YEARS of no contact, bar Charlotte following his exploits in newspapers and magazines. This is the same man who walked out on her 10 years previously when they were kids and left her pregnant and alone. Granted he didn't know Charli was pregnant but he still left her. He says he has always loved her but has had loads of women, while she has pined for him. I would have loved this to be a longer, better plotted book. Liked the brothers but am loath to read more from this author. Will research and see. 1 - DANE'S RETURN July 2017 2.5 stars for unbelievability. Dane deserts Charlotte without a word of farewell, following his mother’s death, in search of fame and glory...leaving behind a permanent reminder.
She leaves shortly after to put distance between them and gives birth on her own. She returns after her father’s death to settle his affairs and now owns the garage shop.
Ten years later, Dane arrives back in town for a visit following his self-imposed exile and living his dream, having established his career and sown his oats. His car breaks down and he walks to a garage, Charlie’s.
She tosses a tool at him, but later lacks self-control overcome by a lust induced haze, within minutes they’re groping each other and engaging in unprotected sex.
She leaves him stranded and he has his brother fetch him. Based on revelations, he calculates that he is a father...and visits her at her house, once again they have unprotected sex. Same night. No willpower whatsoever.
Someone needs to extinguish these two and their over-active glands. First night back, he declares his love, proposes, she accepts. Ten years apart, all is forgiven and forgotten. No accountability or extreme remorse noted.

I just re-read the first couple of books in the MacKenzie family saga in preparation for Jayden's story. These were my first encounter with Liliana Hart and it reminded me why I made a point to find other work by her. She is a creative writer who crafts a good plot with relatable characters. My only issues are with the editing: incorrect word usage, spelling and punctuation errors, and typos that detracted from a smooth reading at times. Overall this is a fun series.
This is a combined publication of two books that had been previously published by Liliana Hart, Dane and Dane-A Christmas Wish. Dane returns to Surrender, Montana after leaving years ago. There are a few surprises that await Dane when he arrives, mainly his old girlfriend and the son he never knew about. Will Dane and Charlotte plan the wedding of their dreams or not? Enjoy a trip to Surrender and meet the Mackenzies.
Disappointed that this was was two previously released novellas, one of which I had already read, re-released under a different name and if it wasn't KU and I had bought it, I would have been very cross. But enjoyed the second novella, so 4 stars.
A cute story that's a bit sappy, very predictable and stuffed with sex to fill up pages. Seriously, this little novella is half sex scenes and this couple has sex so many times the guy complains he's going to be sore! LOL! Anyway, not a bad little story; it makes a good bedtime read.
2.5 stars for lack of plot. Not a bad read, but definitely seemed way more focused on sex than character or story development. It’s a second chance romance where it feels like they just get thrown together again and everything is pretty much perfect immediately.
‘Dane’s Return,’ was an incredibly quick & sexy read! It was an expected and passionate reunion, that lead to an earth shattering surprise. I loved it!
