For three decades, Nancy taught elementary school. She'd written short stories as a child, kept a diary and loved the writing process. After retiring, she hadn’t set out to become an author, but when inspiration struck, she couldn’t resist putting pen to paper. She now had time to follow her dream. Today her writing spans various genres, including young adult, historical romance, romantic suspense and cozy mysteries.
Nancy lives with her husband, Ron, and has a married son, who helps her with tech more than he likes! Plus, add in a wonderful daughter-in-law and grandson which makes her life complete.
CHASE is the beginning of The Secret Billionaire Society series which has a concept for the series that intrigued me. Nancy Pennick is a new-to-me author, so I have no previous experience with her writing style to compare this story against. CHASE is a good basic story with touches of mystery, romance, intrigue and a very close bond between six men who went to college together, became billionaires young in life, and on a whim during their annual combined birthday(s) party make a huge bet that could backfire on them so very easily.
I’m torn on this story for there is a lot that I enjoyed, and some parts that I, frankly, didn’t. Not unusual, really, yet I never felt a connection with the main characters – I was simply along for the ride on this one, not part of the story waiting to see what happens next. I don’t willingly do spoilers, so to explain further would fall into that “no, not gonna do that” zone of mine.
I’m going to hold off on committing myself to this series overall. I know that FINN really caught my eye, yet I prefer to start at the beginning of a set of connecting stories with common characters across all books – some call that a series, yet this author says each title can be standalone. So, I’ll continue through FINN and see how the stories develop, and if my reactions to the main characters change as the series continues. I don’t easily give up on a series so up next is NASH. As I mentioned, CHASE is a good story, I’m simply not certain if this author’s style is one I’m going to enjoy long-term. Time will tell.

Chase has been lucky as has several of his close friends who are all billionaires. They pledge to help others. They hire a man to assign them each a case. Chase is the first to have his case. Chase owns an airlines and is an aviator. He is to find out what is wrong with another airline. He changes his last name and gets hired as a pilot by the troubled airline. Someone is sabotaging the airlines and money is missing. Is the head of the airline guilty, or is it his daughter (bookkeeper) or the 2 sons who are both pilots? Chase falls in love with the daughter. What Chase didn't see until near the end is that an employee of his own airline is involved in the problems with the other airline. When the truth is out, will his romance end, or will she accept that he was living a lie with her?
Take one billionaire, a secret society, a mystery and an intelligent female or two, stir well and you have the makings of a great story! Throw in a few red herrings along the way, a little romance and then you cannot put the book down!
"The man behind the mirror. We’d never met him. We didn’t know what he looked like. Yet, we’d agreed to put our lives in his hands and trust him. We only knew his name—Mr. Smith. He was now in charge of us, the Secret Billionaire Society." (5)
Grace Edison was struggling to keep her father's airline in business. Then, in walked Chase, (one of the secret billionaires) who was now the new pilot for the airline. Although she knew they couldn't afford o hire a new pilot, she still couldn't shake how devastatingly handsome Chase was.
The first assignment in this series was given to Chase, who figured he could just invest some money to help the airline. But Mr. Smith wasn't looking for a "quick fix;" he wanted them to go deeper. Perhaps the airline wasn't failing because of sales and marketing. Could someone be skimming money instead?
“If a company has been in the black for several years in a row, continues to fill their planes to almost capacity daily, negotiates for the best fuel prices and even has a separate account for maintenance costs, why are they in the red?” (16)
Even though she had her suspicions about the mysterious man, Grace soon enlists Chase's help in trying to figure it all out. Meanwhile, the two are taken by the attraction and chemistry.
The series is a "Mission: Impossible" for billionaires. I thought the premise was interesting. There was a certain allure behind this secret society that wanted to make the world right. Drama, mystery, and love are in the air in this complex tale of a floundering airline. Will it fly...or will it all go down? This book had elements that I liked―secrets, spies, suspense, and a smoldering billionaire―but I have to say that I wasn't that captivated by the story. The romance was good, but some of the details concerning the family drama and airline problems were a little too complicated, which wore on me. There were also a few too many characters that really didn't help the story much. I think it would've been better with a little more simplicity and more focus on the two characters. But I think this book has a decent place in romance.
Chase is in a billionaire secret society, he is going to work for Falcon Airlines undercover as a pilot. Grace is the daughter of the company and works there as well. Chase and Grace and go on a few dates and there chemistry and connection between them is hot, but things are not what they seem as things keep happening around them and it is becoming obvious that the company is being sabotaged, who is doing this and why. There are twists and turns along with a lot of plotting and dangerous situations. You will have to read this book to see what happens next. This is the first book that I have read of Nancy's but definitely not the last. I definitely recommend you read this book as it is so well written and enjoyable. I Voluntarily Reviewed an ARC Copy Of This Book.
The premise for this story is reasonable one, and that's what piqued my attention. Sadly, I feel that it is let down by its execution.
The story didn't seem to flow very well to me - there were parts which just jumped to the next conclusion without any real link up. It felt almost as though the author had parts of the story in her head, which she didn't quite commit to the page.
Added to that, I simply didn't believe the connection between the protagonists. It was a little sterile in the telling, given the apparent strength of the attraction between them.
Overall, I'm afraid that this was a bit of a disappointment.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is a bit of a mystery story wrapped around a love story that is so delicious. Though the characters were not as well developed as they could have been, Chase and Grace are truly made for each other. This closed bedroom door story is refreshing since most Billionaire books have so much sex and profanity, it is hard to read. I loved the secondary characters as well and look forward to seeing what the other 5 billionaires have to go through. The author does a great job of delivering many “red herrings” to keep you guessing on who the real villain is . It was worth the read!
Chase is one of six billionaires doing a good deed by sorting out problems for others. He’s sent to an airline where someone is sabotaging things. There he meets Grace, who helps run the airline with her Dad and brothers.
At one point or another, he’s suspicious of each of them, but never Grace. Instead, they fall in love, and they finally figure out the mystery and all is well.
I love the premise, the plot is OK, but it’s not a big mystery, though there’s an added wrench at the end. The writing is poor, so I’ll try to continue reading for the idea alone, see if things get better.
Having read book 4 before this 1st book of this series, I have to say its better to start with #1. The author tends to end one chapter and begin a new one rather abruptly, like others do to begin an epilogue. It didn't help to also find out I'd started in the middle of the saga instead of the beginning. This was a good story. I liked the characters and the mystery. I also like the whole idea of the club and its mission to do more. Oh, and don't skip the prologue for Nash. It gives you much needed info.
Chase Young is the first of the group to get his assignment from Smith. He has to figure out what is wrong with Falcon airlines and make it right. Some things that occurred did not feel real given that Chase was a new employee. Grace was a great heroine. I liked her strength and tthe way she handled things that happened to her. Despite this, I felt some of her interactions with Chase were rushed. I appreciated the lack of detailed sex. There was cussing. It was minimal. Overall, this was an okay read though I struggled to stay awake on parts of it. 2.5 stars
Nancy Pennick wrote a great story with the Secret Billionaire Chase. Chase being owner of his airlines gets a job at a other airlines. They are having some problems that they can't figure out. The books are in the red but they should be in the black. Seats not bolted down good and tools missing is not good. The owner of Falcon Airlines has a daughter Grace. This was a very hot read 😮😮😀😀

A fun story with many different twists. The billionaire society is a great group of guys. I have read 3 other books and they are all Worth purchasing and reading. Can’t wait to finish the series and find out what’s next for Chase and his friends.
I loved how this mystery slowly unwound. Not too slowly, just that clues came up throughout the book, and not all at the end as too many books do. The romance happened very quickly, but I am ok with that. I liked how Chase's personality went from playboy to devoted and caring person. I really enjoyed this book.
I really enjoyed this book and I thought that it was a great read!
I thought that the storyline was great and the characters were well developed too.
It was a little slow in places and it could have done with a bit more action but it is still a 4 star read from me for this one, I really enjoyed it and just a little tweak and it could have been a 5 star read - highly recommended!
First book in the series that is a different storyline than any other billionaire series I have read. I liked the mixture of romance and mystery/suspense. Now I want to read the rest of the series to read about all of his friend's missions and how they tie together.
The level of forced contrivance in this one really pushed my limits for suspension of disbelief. But it was a quick, light read that required no brain power or attachment to the book.
I usually don't write poor reviews, but this book was so choppy that I skimmed through it to see how it went. The dialogue didn't flow well at all. I was very disappointed.
I liked the mystery aspect of the story. The characters are well developed and some are so much fun. Chase and Grace are a wonderful start to the series but I think it will make a great stand alone too!
I read FINN first and loved it!! I wanted to see if there were other books in the series. Yes! 8 of them so I started with #1. Reading CHASE, it explained a lot about FINN. Excited to keep reading.
He went undercover to figure what was wrong with the airline. Never did he figure he'd fall head over heals in love. But then he had to leave her. So many deep secrets but a great story. Should be five more big secrets.
Rocking seats and a dead falcon??? It seems as if someone wants them to fail, doesn’t it??? AND you won’t guess who!!! I enjoyed this story and recommend the book.
The details about the story made it seem interesting, but the actual story just didn't win me over. I stopped reading after so much mention of sex or having sex, which didn't add to the story.
