Rose Strongwell was the first non-male heir in five generations of her family's line of Spring kings and as a result, she must stand by on Announcement Day as her father, the king, decides who her husband and the future king will be. The moment she lays eyes on the man her father had chosen for her, she knows she'll never love him.
Desperate to find some freedom, even momentarily, Rose leaves the castle and seeks refuge with her cousin, Alistair. It is there that she meets a man who will change her entire life.
Milo Stark is a guardian of the Spring. It is his duty to serve the king. He didn't expect to find love while visiting a friend. However, that love is complicated by the fact that Rose is the heir to the throne and engaged to another. It doesn't matter that she doesn't want to marry this other man, both he and Rose will follow the will of the king.
What will it mean for Rose and Milo when a visit from the past questions her engagement? Will they have their happily ever after?
Wind and Water is a sweet novella. JL Brunell writes in that same fun way that brings you in on the first book. I really enjoyed learning more about Lea's parents and finding out how her story began. JL Brunell also shows you that strong heroines are not just a pretty face!
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!
I read this again because I wanted to read the whole series together since Muddy Water was just released.
Wind and Water is a beautifully written prequel to Thicker Than Water. The story of Lea’s parents provides a lot of insight into the decisions they made and why Lea grew up not knowing her family’s legacy. I immediately liked Rose and Milo! It was also fun seeing characters from the main novel sprinkled throughout the story. I love a good series and this is one with a unique plot, intriguing characters, and a great love story!
This was a short and sweet story about love at first sight. I am intrigued about this world, especially the magic! I read this before starting the series since it's a prequel, and I'm sure the series will be delightful!
I really enjoy this book and we got to find out about Taliea strongwell parents and how they meet and fell in love and what made them make the decision to leave the castle and go and live with there people. I loved how the author gave us an insight into how Taliea parents meet. Just loved it
