Ethan’s best friend and crush, Will, has to move out of the house next door when his parents separate. Ethan’s not happy about that, until he discovers that their new neighbours include a mysterious boy named Brett. A boy who’s not only a bit older, but very cute as well.
Despite initial hesitations, Ethan and Brett soon find themselves in a whirlwind relationship, with Brett most certainly teaching Ethan a thing or two about love.
But the sudden return of Will causes an unexpected turn of events that could have devastating results for all three of them.
Will Ethan lose his boyfriend Brett and BFF Will as the result? Or will Ethan get his happily ever after?
All Cute Gay Romance stories in this series are standalone
I absolutely LOVED this. And now I need a pink frosted donut with sprinkles, please.
Things I loved:
-How supportive Ethan's parents were of him, his boyfriend, his coming out, his friendship with Will -How honest the relationship was between Brett and Ethan -The ooey gooey sweetness of the story -How charming Brett was and his nicknames for Ethan -Ethan's Dad (pretty much everything about him was perfection)
When you read a story by Clyde Andrews you know it's going to be sweet, smart, fluffy, adorable and funny. I love it when I can smile through an entire story!
Another great story by Clyde Andrews. The New Boy Next Door, Uh-oh! centers around Ethan, his first love, Will who has to move away. We all have had this happen to us, and I know how painful such a situation can happen. THEN, a new family moves into the house next door...along with a new boy, Brett! Ethan had gone through the loss of his first love, but now, can Brett be his true love? Is Ethan ready for such a love when he just lost one? THEN....Will comes back! WTF?! I do believe that this story is by far my favorite of the Cute Gay Romance series. The characters are realistic and you want to feel for Ethan. Who hasn't been through such pain? Many have lost their first loves. Fantastic job. If you like LGBTQ+ stories, definitely check out this one!!!!!!!!
This is a quick paced story of Ethan and his best friend, and how their friendship evolved when Brett enters Ethan’s life. The plot is realistic; the dialogue engaging. It was hard to put this story down. I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who is looking for a quick story with wit, angst, some smexy scenes, and an HEA.
I know I go on and on about Clyde's sense of humor, but it's true. His stories are hilarious. Short and sweet. But... Every one of Clyde's stories carries an important message. Every one of them is teaching you something, something you already knew but maybe forgotten. Or you didn't think it's quite so important.
Cue to our favorite gentleman Clyde.
This story speaks of consent. And it speaks volumes. When a boy wants to kiss another boy it must be consensual. When a girl wants to kiss... well, you get the picture. Because it doesn't matter what gender, consent is THE most important thing in any relationship. A lot of writers miss that fact, they probably think it will kill the moment. No, but shady romantic/sex scenes will kill the reader's enjoyment. That said, I will leave you with my favorite quote from this story:
"I understood that there was no such thing as an ‘I’m-no-longer-a-virgin’ light above us once we’d slept with someone, but if there was, mine would be strobing rainbows—enough to give straight people epileptic fits, I’m sure."
Clyde Andrews writes the best feel good stories that are out there now! And The New Boy Next Door is a wonderful, feel good story! Ethan’s current semi-boyfriend is moving away. But the confident Brett moves in! Ethan and Brett find love quickly but!!! There’ll be one pretty big hiccup toward the end.
Clyde Andrews books are cute and sexy and they always have a deeper meaning. Each one I’ve read has left a smile on my face for days!
I actually can’t stop reading these cute gay romances and it’s a problem. A good problem! Mostly it’s a problem because they end (sobs) but I’ll be okay. I liked the little twist this one had that the others didn’t, though I won’t say what because spoilers!!
Another incredible read by Clyde Andrews in his Cute Gay Romance series. Relatable characters and a painful, very real situation. The hurdle was handled quite well as it showed true emotions based on first immediate reactions. Everyone handles this particular hurdle in their own way, but most will share the first emotions of confusion and anger. Some are just able to control their emotions better than others.
This story is well worth the read, along with the other books in the series. Clyde Andrews is a talented author that breathes reality into all his characters. Tons of emotions, a whole wide range of them, each one comes out strong and powerful. I also love the bits of humour inserted into these books!
Another cute story by Mr. Andrews, and one with emotional weight involving some of the tough situations people wind up in: Whether it be friendships, romance, or something in-between, Mr. Andrews does a superb job not only representing budding relationships, but the many obstacles that come with young love--and he does it responsibly.
Recommended to anyone who likes LGBT+ representation and light, playful stories with just the right amount of emotional impact.
