I was sent a copy of this book for review, and accepted because I know someone who lost weight while they were not mobile prior to a hip replacement operation. The patient managed this by fasting for one day a week and eating normal portions of healthy food on the other days.

The author describes four ways of scheduling a fast - alternate days, or for twenty hours and then eating ad lib for four hours, and so on. This book is only a couple of chapters but in-text links are provided so you can learn more. The links open in a web browser - so not off your Kindle unless the Kindle is able to do that and has wi-fi. Some of the links go to reputable sites like Harvard and others go to blog sites which have pop-up ads trying to sell you books and subscriptions. I checked them all out and was not impressed by some of the blog sites - also one link had broken.

The author tells us some of the rationale behind fasting and other complex issues like diabetes, weight gain, free radicals and more. However, he emphasises that he is not a medical professional and you should check with a medical professional before fasting; if you are diabetic, expecting a baby or under work stress, among other reasons, he warns against fasting. I was pleased to see lists of pros and cons for the methods as well as this health warning. One great pro is that it costs nothing and you will save money!

The author does not explain that the body adapts to a lowered calorie diet by sinking into famine mode and conserving energy. This is why a one day a week fast works - the body does not have time to go into famine mode. I also found some oddly worded lines indicative of someone for whom English isn't a first language. Otherwise, the author is explaining in simpler terms the biology which can be confusing and tedious in science reports. I would like to see some pictures, ideal weight charts, lists of healthy food products, a warning against any kind of soft drink whether 'diet' or sugary. This is a pretty basic book and that will please some readers, but it won't suit everyone. I hope some readers are helped to lose weight.

I was sent an e-ARC and chose to read in my own time. This is an unbiased review.

Intermittent Fasting for Beginners,Aggressive Fat Loss, Heal Your Body And Enjoy...by Jackson Gabriel
Book starts with introduction about this idea. Lots of technical terms that are put into regular people language to help you understand the concept of it all.
Love scientific research and data about this concept. There are warnings about asking your doctor if you can try this.
Lots of benefits are listed if you are able to implement this concept. There are warnings about which groups should NOT under any circumstances to try this.
There are four ways you can make this work for you, check them all out.
Like the first option (16:8 method) as you are just giving up one meal. Also you are given things to do while you are fasting-very helpful suggestions.
There are day plans to help you not only save money but time to take to prepare them.
There is no calorie counting-what a plus! There are cons and pros with this method that are discussed.
Warrior diet is another-the author talks about what you can and can't do and why. Very disciplined.
hours are up to you, phase to overeat, what to eat, and a sample schedule is included to help you stay organized.
What I love about this book is that the sources listed are linked online so you can read the articles yourself.
Love the increased lifespan and the prevention of Alzheimer's disease.
Other two methods are also discussed in detail like the previous two with sections on: how it works, who is it best for, steps to do it, sample schedule, the pros and cons.
Also includes a preview of "anti-inflammatory diet healthy eating for healing the immune system, boosting energy and enjoying life' from the author's other works.
I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Great Read, Great Book

Wow, this was a great book. It has all the information you would need to start fasting and explains the 3 main fasting options very well.

Great book, actually wished it was longer, it was such a great read.

Thanks

Interesting concept for qualified candidates

There are many fads associated with weight loss diets, and this offers a unique perspective. While I’ve never actually fasted during a diet, more of just portion control, this method seems to have merit. It’s properly laid out, sourced well for those fact-checkers, and also explains who has a higher likelihood of succeeding. It also cautions on who should avoid the diet regimen due to nutritional obstacles. Overall, it’s a great read and something to consider. If you qualify based on the logic, sample charts and health, it’s worth a shot.

Intermittent Fasting demystified by this concise IF primer

If you are IF curious or on the fence about whether you want to take the leap to join the world of intermittent fasting, this book will surely both reassure and convince you to commit to doing it smart and doing it right. The author is accessible the material is easy to follow and understand. I'm starting today with the Warrior Diet and then maybe back down to the 16:8 diet if one meal a day is too hard for me. I'm extremely motivated by the book and the promise of what adding fasting to my life can offer.

This book was given to me to read and provide an honest review.

Up for review today is Gabriel Jackson’s, Intermittent Fasting for Beginners: Aggressive Fat Loss, Heal Your Body and Enjoy Your Life.

Perhaps you have heard of this diet method. Intermittent Fasting seems to be all the rage these days. Is this a new diet concept? No, absolutely not. This concept has been around for millennia and has been used throughout many cultures to help promote physical, mental, and spiritual health. So why is it suddenly making a comeback? The short answer is...it works.

Within the pages of this very short digital book the author explains the differences between fasting and starvation in an easy to understand manner, as well as provides different methods for fasting and recommendations to get started practicing each method if you have never tried it before.
I must mention and send a thank you out to the author for including information about who this method isn’t a good fit for. All too often books that are related to diet and weight loss try to sell themselves as being great for EVERYONE, and that simply isn’t true. This time Jackson is very candid about intermittent fasting not being a good fit for some people and explains the reasons why this could be. I wish more diet and weight loss books would be this honest rather than trying to reel the reader in to thinking it is perfect for them when in reality that may not be the case at all.

Once the reader understands the differences between starvation and fasting and whether or not this method is right for him or her the book moves on to discuss the different types of intermittent fasting; once again giving a clear explanation of each method, as well as who it may be best for, how to implement the method, and yet again the pros and cons of each method. Truthfully, I find this information the most helpful. It’s honest and I know what to expect. There’s no guessing here at all.

Really, that’s about all there is to this book. It’s short, concise and straight to the point but definitely contains some pretty useful information. Is this new information? No, really it’s not. But, it is information given to the reader in a compact format that can be much easier for some readers to digest. I read this in about 30 minutes (yeah, I’m a fast reader but this is only about 58 digital pages)...so if you are looking for a quick read, or find it difficult to read for long periods this fits the bill nicely as the chapters are short and easy to get through.

My only constructive criticism about this book is that there are several places where the writing is choppy; meaning that the sentence structure is a bit awkward or words are missing which caused me to have to go back and re-read sentences. As I read it just felt like it needed another pass through editing, or more specifically a pass through a copy-editor. But, really that’s my only criticism. I’d certainly recommend this book as a good place to start for anyone wanting to learn about Intermittent Fasting.

Normally I would rate this book as a 3.5 out of 5 stars due to brevity and editing issues but I’m going to bump it up to 4 out of 5 simply due to author’s honesty and candor.

I have read information about intermittent fasting and all I saw were reasons why you should do it.  There really was no downside that was being explained and I didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing because I knew not everyone could do it.  Then I got a chance to read this book and realized there are many different intermittent fasts that you can choose from so there is something for everyone.

This book was more informative than articles and books I've read in the past for different reasons.  For one, this author not only listed several types of intermittent fasting (including fasting 24 hours every other day) but also listed pros and cons of the fast, as well as who it is and is not good for.  This was good news because the intermittent fasting that lasted 24 hours every other day may not be good for people with type 2 diabetes.

This brings me to another reason this book is so helpful, it explains what is going on inside your body if you do have diabetes which gives you scientific proof as to why this particular fast isn't good for you. The author delves into the human body and explains what can happen inside you.  Each fast comes with its own precautions and even warnings from moodiness, to headaches and much more if you are cautioned against starting a particular fast.

This book will help you decide which fast is best for you to maximize your results.

*I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This is a short and very basic overview of four kinds of intermittent fasting. It didn't offer a lot of detail. Perhaps something was wrong with the Kindle edition, because the author supposedly gave a schedule for fasting for the various plans, but all that showed up on the Kindle was a list of the days of the week.

Two positive things about the book is that he gave pros and cons for each different kind of intermittent fast, and he recommended readers check with their doctor before trying any of these plans.

I didn't find the conclusion helpful. He basically said, "We've come to the end of the book and it's time for you to act." That, of course, is true, but I would expect something more encouraging and motivating.

This book will be helpful to someone who knows nothing about intermittent fasting and wants to get a broad overview without having to search out the information online. Most readers, though, will want to know more if they decide to try intermittent fasting.

I received a copy of the book from the author, but this voluntary review reflects my honest opinion.
