Highest Bidder

The Blue Butterfly was a club for extreme pleasure.
But I wasn't there for pleasure...I'd come to sell my virginity. To the Highest Bidder.

Freya
Since Dad died and left us high and dry, things have just gotten worse for Mom and me. Unless we find enough money to pay my fees I'm going to be kicked out of college, and even worse my mom is about to become homeless.

I didn't know what to do, how I could help. I felt completely out of options, until my friend told me I could auction my virginity for thousands of dollars to the highest bidder at a secretive club frequented by billionaires called the Blue Butterfly.

I've been saving myself for that elusive once-in-a-lifetime great romance, and that 'special man', but I realize now that is just a childish dream. Truth is I'm probably going to lose my virginity to some jerk who will not appreciate it, anyway.

I'd much rather save my mother from more humiliation.
So I applied to the Blue Butterfly, and to my surprise they accepted me.

I thought I knew what to expect. A billionaire who looked like Warren Buffet, or George Soros.

But NOTHING could have prepared me for...my highest bidder.

A full length steamy and emotional standalone romance with a HEA.

Another great read by this author.

Freya is in financial straits. Her mother is spending money like they are still wealthy but they are far from that and now they are risking losing everything including their home. Freya doesn’t know what to do until her friend tells her about this auction where she can sell her virginity. She agrees to participate and when she sets her minimum at 15,000 pounds she is shocked when she goes for so much more. Who purchased her?

It was a good read. Spicy with a great story. I’m not usually one that enjoys this trope but the author did a great job writing it.

The Highest Bidder did not excite me as I expected. The characters were not fully developed along with the storyline, resulting in a vivid confusion.
It was a complete mess of characters, actions and behaviours. 😤

"Highest Bidder" is the story of Freya and Lucas.

*insert squeaking bed noises*

Soo. The heroine is a young college student who is in financial debt. Her frivolous and absent minded mother has spent all of their savings, and also mortgaged the only house they own for her vanity. She is forced to sell her virginity in an auction, and is shocked when she is bought by a man from her past for a million dollars. Thus begins a sexathon between two VERY horny individuals, mixed with family drama, snobbish rich people, close friendships and evil step siblings, potential pregnancy and HEA.

It was good and hot, until the plot got lost midway and I struggled with the second half, which stretched a hundred pages too long. The resolution was mildly satisfying, the heroine very impulsive and the hero beta.

I can’t hardly believe this is a Georgia book

I’m absolutely shocked this is a Le Carre book! This story felt unoriginal and extremely forced. Honestly, I wanted to just stop reading it so many times. But I kept going hoping it would improve since I usually love Georgia’s books...but it was the exact opposite this time.
Billionaire hero, Brent. Not really sure what all his company does? But he also runs his ex’s company. She causes some drama in the book and tries to tell the h they slept together on one of Freya’s numerous days of avoiding Brent. This was neither confirmed nor denied. It sounds like he didn’t? But honestly I don’t know. If Brent always wanted Freya why didn’t he try to have her before she ended up in his club?
Also, one of his side businesses is some sex club. I don’t know how comfortable I would be having a spouse owning one of those.
So I guess Liam WAS his half brother? Again, this wasn’t clear. Where was the step mother in all that?
The heroine, Freya, what a sh*t show she was. She kept making up to most bogus lies and trying to make excuses and take care of her mother. And her mother is a complete wack job, stupid, no clue about money, spoiled and living in lala land not realizing they’re POOR NOW. Get a grip woman. She didn’t learn any lessons in the book and said she hated Freya with Brent, but by the end of the book she had no issues spending his money.
Freya is just all over the place not wanting to believe Brent, but believe everyone else. And her two best friends, they were really pointless to have so much time in the book. All they seemed to want was for Freya to stay away from Brent, but they had no reason for this. Were they jealous?
There was a lot of useless blah blah blah in this book. And the story was not smooth. Just kinda bouncing around like a ping pong ball.
I cannot believe Georgia actually wrote this. It was not smooth, underdeveloped, details mentioned that ended up not mattering, questions left unanswered.

Freya and her Mother were once part of the upper echelons of society, until Freya’s father did something underhanded in his business dealings and then committed suicide.

Since then Freya’s mother (who is a complete flake) has got herself into serious debt. Which once Freya discovers, she decides to sell her virginity, as you do. So she enters a Virgin auction at a sex club, where a ginormous amount of money is bid for her. It turns out that the owner of the club and he’s a member of the British aristocracy is the one who’s winning bid gets her for the night, she’s shocked as she knows him from way back. After the one night that he paid for, Freya is determined to see him again. More than once she’s warned off him by the other woman judi who claims he’s hers. But Freya’s in too deep to give him up.

I wasn’t keen on the characters in this. Freya’s mother is super annoying and very immature especially in one scene near the end. Freya entered the virgin auction and when the hero Brent spends the night after winning the auction the way the sex was written Freya certainly didn’t behave like an inexperienced virgin. Brent the hero was okay but when he claims he’s always wanted her and had fantasied about her, why hadn’t he gone after her before she turned up in his club. He’s a billionaire doing what we are not told and although he claims he and judi the OW are just friends those scenes with her and him are off the page. Lots of this I found a bit ridiculous, the characters were shallow and lacked depth, I wasn’t convinced of the love between the two main characters, lust yes. Overall this was a disappointment from this author, it read more like a harlequin, just a small issue, but the cover picture is all wrong IMO he looks like a crime Lord not an actual lord who is a member of the aristocracy lol. As always, another fantastic novel. I've read other books that are kind of like this one where the heroine auctions off her virginity for money but this one was a tad different. The hero is an old acquaintance, and not in a good way. Bad history is coming to the forefront quickly but the love they share will overpower that bad history. Secrets, lies and drama quickly take over. Add in some major sexiness and you have the recipe for a superb novel.

Freya is the one who seems to always take care of the ones she loves. She loyal and loveable and always finds the best in most people, especially her mother. Brent is somewhat scary but downright sexy. Phsyco-ish and handles everything thrown to him no matter the consequences. He is moody for the most part and if he has to kill he will. When you put Freya and Brent together they are unique. The world is against them together and will try every trick in the book to separate them. There connection is extremly strong but will it be enough?

I really enjoyed this book and hope that we get books on Maddie and/or Ella. Freya's friends are interesting and I would definitely read about them.

I used to say that I could spot a GLC read from 50 feet away! Her writing style is usually so distinctive. But, I really couldn't tell it was her for about the first 20% of this one. I think she's kept it simpler and that's a good move.

It's great too that she's gotten rid of the annoying YouTube links heading the chapters - I'm not a fan of those in books (plus they don't work for kindle anyway) so I think that'll be popular with many readers.

If you've never read a GLC, then this standalone could be perfect to start your Le Carre journey. The whole virginity auction trope isn't new, but what Georgia does with it totally is! There's bucket loads of mystery, intrigue, suspense and super hot passion within a solidly, good story...and as always a beautiful HEA.

Urgh

If I could rate this 0.5 stars I would! Terrible story, awful writing and over use of a thesaurus!

She (I can’t even remember her name)was annoying beyond belief, who had fallen on hard times since her fathers death and fell head over heels in love with Brent within a day.

Brent was like a 16year old girl PMSing, he was too sulky for a hotshot billionaire.

The sex scenes were overly long and slightly too much rendering it a gag fest.

Also, I get that it was set in England, so what’s with all the American terminology... ‘Mom’, ‘Slacks’ etc

Nope 👎

Quick read

There were way too many questions then answers. I am not sure what to think. There is a ton of hot sexy times and a storyline that is quite twisted up. Brent feels justified with his actions but the whole thing leaves me cold. I am truly at a loss for words.

Not a heroine that we can relate to or like we would say oh she's a bad ass doing this. There are a lots of cringe moments blehhh. She is enabling her delusional mom, I thought she would just let her mom fiasco happens and be on the sideline, try to let her mom see what's the consequences of her carelessness and stupidity.
Well, cringe #1 of many, she is being snobbish to the man she knows from the past saying like what are you doing here buying virgin... Judging him when she also in the act of it. After that, from the way it worded, I can see why some men says they don't do virgin because she's a clinger trying to picture something they are not from the one night affair. The plot line and the characters are messy and all over the place.
Overall, I agreed with the other low stars reviews on here like Chitra, bak Dora and others.

I honestly don’t know how this book has a 4 star standing review.
They characters are god awful, the mother is a crazy bi$5*, and it was just horrible raunchy sex.
I mean he killed his half brother?!? And she’s like ok I’m cool with that yo.
I suggest not reading this one folks.

Freya’s dad is gone and now she must find a way to make some money for her and her family. She opts to auction off her virginity to the highest bidder. What will happen when sparks fly between them. This is a fast-paced read with steamy chemistry and an entertaining story. Plenty of drama and suspense draw you in and hold your interest from beginning to end. I loved it.

Georgia Le Carre how do you do it ?
This has to be one of the sexiest books I've read in a long time, it's just so hot and steamy. I loved the storyline with that bit of mystery and suspense.
When it comes to the sex scenes Georgia seems to capture every part of the imagination. Freya and Brents rocky love story is another example of this authors talent and ability to write an amazing book. I was given this ARC to read for an honest and unbiased review.

If I can I will give 10 stars, because this book deserves this and much much more. I finished reading two days ago and still can't start reading another book because i m book hungover. Brent and Freya story captived me from the start and i couldn't stop reading until the end. It has everything i love in a book, alpha, possessive hero, strong and likable heroine, amazing story-plot who is moving fast and the writing style of Georgia is always perfection. I don't have words to describe how amazing this book so does yourself a favor and buy this book.

An ok read I guess. Not much to say. Freya is a college student whose family has fallen from high society after a scandal and her father's suicide in jail. With a lack of income for the family, Freya puts her virginity on auction at a secret sex club in London frequented by billionaire members. The winner is Lord Leighton aka Brent. This shocks Freya as he's always been cold to her and continues to be. The book was neither here nor there for me. In all honestly, it felt like a bit of a jumbled mess and although an easy, unchallenging read, I just couldn't really get into it. But maybe that's just me.

I was immediately drawn into this book, and hooked. I couldn't wait to keep going. Unfortunately, by 50%, I had lost interest. I didn't like the addition of Brent's brother and some drama about Brent being responsible for what happened to Freya's dad. It just felt like unnecessary drama. And honestly, you could tell that the brothers hated each other and I didn't want to sit through the rest of that.

My reading mojo hasn't been the best (although it has gotten better) so I don't want to waste my time on a book I'm not enjoying.

This book overall may work for others, it just didn't work for me.

This one is weird for me. I don't have a problem with the auction, in fact, I think for some people, like Freya, it could be a good thing. I really didn't like how Freya's mom was so dumb about things to get herself in a bind where the auction is the only thing that Freya feels like can save them. I didn't care for Brent, when he showed up I realized I was done. This one just wasn't for me.

Plot was good and the writing was also good, the characters were great other than an aspect of Freya that I didn't like... She was about 20+ years old but still listens to what her mum says even though she is an adult herself, but other than that the story was great!

Freya's life changed the night she entered into a virgin auction. She felt it was the only way to rescue her mother from financial ruin and to save their apartment. Struggling after her father's business went south and then his death, she felt this auction was her only hope. Amazed that her winning bidder was someone from her past. Brent Lucan the future Duke of Leighton. So much suspense, drama, and some twists will keep you guessing. Georgia Le Carre is a master storyteller and that is so evident in this story. Strong, likable characters and an entertaining storyline. Beware, once you start reading you will find it hard to put this book down. I received an arc and voluntarily chose to write a review.

Stanowcze NIE! 🙅‍♀️
Gdyby można było wystawić negatywną ocenę z pewnością skorzystałbym z takiej opcji.

Not a 100% how I’d feel about this book , don’t get me wrong it’s exactly what it says in the tin .
Wonderfully written , addictive, and great characters.

I just didn’t like the characters for who they were , how the other half lives . Materialistic , forgiving possible murder and destruction of lives so easily.
Her mother was the worst, I could slap her .

But don’t let my view stop you from reading a really good book , entertaining , addictive reading.

It got 4 stars because it’s a good book , not because of my personal view and hang ups . Lol .

I te opisy... Przy kilku prawie udusiłam się kawą... A że mam więcej bardziej obiecujących książek, dlatego ja mówię pas. Chociaż nie przeczę komuś ta historia może się spodobać.

Highest Bidder by Georgia Le Carre is an incredibly good read. It is my first book by Ms. Le Carre- and I know I am awfully late to the party… I have so many of her books on my TBR and kindle, but am only now getting around to reading them. I am kicking myself that it took me this long as I loved everything about it and wish I had known how captivating her stories are, because if I had, I would have devoured every book of hers well before now.
This story has tragedy, heartache, grief, hardship, worry, stress, bargains, chemistry, connection, tension, secrets, lies, manipulative characters, schemes, revenge, jealousy, pain, passion, friendship, suspense, intensity, and more. I was so wrapped up in the story that I lost track of time- and ended up reading the book in one sitting. I couldn’t have put it down, as I really need to know how it all played out in the end.
Freya and Brent were brilliant characters- and really set the book on fire. The secondary characters were all really well developed too- and added to the whole storyline. I won’t go into the story here as I really don’t want to spoil it for you- and the blurb really does a great job of letting you know what to expect, to a point- as there were a few surprises that I didn’t expect.
I highly recommend this addictive read and am looking forward to a serious Georgia Le Carre binge ASAP!

Thank you, Ms. Le Carre!
