This was super useful. No matter what level of education you have, it's just really, really handy - it walks you right through computing expertise from soup to nuts in clear, comprehensible, mostly jargon-free language.
I can't believe how much he packed into this book. I've learned so much. Very easy to follow and understand. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that would like to learn more about computers. I haven't taken the test yet but I do think this is a great tool to use.
Really good introductory book on computers and networks. I only take 1 star off because it is DENSE. This is only an issue because it purports to be an A+ certification prep book. It does this, but it does much more too. Why is that bad? As someone studying for the exam with a non-tech background, it can be utterly overwhelming at times. I am using this with other resources (YouTube videos, the author’s course on Udemy, and practice exams) and I think if this is the only resource you use you will likely not succeed. I say this only because the sheer amount of info will be extremely difficult to process and retain for the specifics of the exam. I enjoyed this book a lot and it was really interesting and educational. I just know that it cannot be what I rely on for the exam (though in the author’s defense, no one should rely on any one resource). I will update this review after my test with my results.
A LOT of information to absorb. I read this book in combination with Mike Meyers' Udemy courses. I do believe you need both to benefit most from the material. I've also seen some complaints that he puts in too much extra material that wouldn't be on the test. I suppose this would be a concern if your only goal is to pass the exam. I, personally, want to get a job in the industry and to learn as much as possible. So, I appreciate the extra information and have already used some of this to help me improve my home system. I think the book did a good job.
Very informative and lays out what one needs to know for the exam. Text would digress pretty frequently to unrelated topics, which I feel muddle the meaning pretty severely in some instances. This book has definitely helped me lay out what I need to review more for the exam.
Valuable resource if you're looking to take this exam. Didn't read every word, but I've gone through the material in every chapter for both parts. I'll be using it to review as needed until I pass the 1002 but I'm calling it 'read' now.
This is a comprehensive book. It took me weeks upon weeks to read it. Now I get to go back and study the material so I can prepare for the exam. Wish me luck.
