Gareth Whelan is pissed he's in the states while his brother and friends are celebrating Saint Patrick's Day without him. For years, that was their holiday, the one that they always spent together. Now he's in America on business and they're taunting him from across the pond. Gareth decides to grab a pint in a quiet Irish pub, hoping that a Guinness will make him feel less homesick. No one prepared him for how he'd feel when he met the woman he wasn't looking for. Caitlin Shepherd works as a bartender in her uncle's pub. She doesn't know what she wants out of life, and ever since her parents and sister died, she hasn't felt whole. That is until a brooding man with a strong Irish accent walks in and sits at her bar with a look that fills her with promises she didn't know she needed.
This was a really cute short story. A couple inconsistencies but nothing to deter me from enjoying it. -no cheating -no ow/om drama- some flirting but it was shut down immediately -virgin heroine hero had been celibate but with the storyline I wish he had been a virgin too -some steam but no sex until later in the book -heroine was attacked but hero stopped it -no pushing away -great epilogue 15 years later
Gareth loves running his own business and helping others because of it, however, when it means traveling to Chicago, and not being back home in Ireland to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with his family, he is not happy. And then he steps into a local pub and sees his forever.
Caitlin is thankful her uncle and aunt were able to take her in after her parents and sister's deaths, and is a bartender at Finnegan's Pub, named after her uncle. She's content with her life, though she misses her family every day and, at times, wishes she had gone with them that fateful night. Then she sees a new customer, someone obviously not local, and her eyes, and his, are continually drawn to one another.
Gareth knows immediately he's met his one, just like his Dad always said he would. His parents, both gone, had a love that was like a fairy tale and he hoped to have the same. Now, he knew Caitlin would be the woman he'd share it with.
Happy that she feels the connection to, and terrified of what could have happened had he not been there to rescue her when she's attacked, he takes steps to start tying her to him...and if it involves a flight to his country...
Caitlin is upset he acted without asking, but she can't deny the thrill that he'd go so far to be with her, plus, her parents were born in Ireland, so she'd love to see where they grew up. Gareth and Caitlin grow close quickly, love being declared, futures planned, etc., but she can't help but worry he'll leave her too, willingly or not. And then her worse nightmare seems to come true when she sees a different side of Gareth and her fears take hold.
Can Gareth prove to Caitlin she's his everything? Why did he react as he did? Will she understand when he explains? Is a HEA possible?
One-click now and follow along as two people find love at first sight, then wait for the rest to catch up. I really enjoyed this story and am happy this author is writing again. There are two concerns I had, first, Kiernan is mentioned as being part of Gareth's family, yet he isn't a brother and we're never told how he's related. Second, toward the end, and this is where the angst part happens - don't worry, it's resolved quickly - Caitlin is mentally thinking how Gareth has seemed a little distant lately, and then the angst and we learn why he reacted the way he did, BUT her concern about him being distant is never addressed. That was a thread left hanging that I would've liked cleared up. I look forward to the next books, though I am a little leery of Sullivan's book as it's alluded to him being manwhorish and that bothers me as I'd love to read the entire series.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
This was a perfect quick read! Gareth and Caitlin were great characters. Gareth is on business in the US and can’t wait to get home back to Ireland. Having a drink at a small local pub he meets bartender Caitlin. He instantly falls for her and knows she is the love of his life. Now all he has to do is convince her to give them a shot at forever! Safety 100% safe! No op drama or abuse! Voluntarily received an ARC copy for an honest review!
We meet Gareth and Caitlin in this first book of the Whelan Brothers series. I really enjoyed reading this. -safe -virgin h, no mention of H's past -dual POV -possessive H -no abuse -no OM/OW drama -cute epilogue at 15 years
I love an OTT, possessive H as well as the next person but I have mixed feelings about some of the things Gareth did/said to Caitlin.
Those are the only things I didn't care for. It's still a fantastic story by an amazing author. Things that may irk me, may not be a big deal or mean much to you. I fully recommend reading this one.
wham bam, im in love ma'am... basically that's it!
He then decide to "kidnap" her to Ireland... He carries her from the hotel bed to a private plane and she only wakes up when they are already middle flight, all this without any type of sleep aid! (i wake up with my goldfish doing bubble on the other room!)
Then there is some stupid little drama, they marry and have 7 kids! END
**Edit: the h is a 25y virgin and he didn't have sex because sex was only be go with his soulmate *eyeroll* **
I’ve missed Elisa! So glad she’s back! This is just what you would expect from her. Chemistry is off the charts for Gareth and Caitlyn. Gareth is a bit gruff, but the use of the Irish and Gaelic language makes up for it. They hit a couple of bumpy spots and even slow down a bit, but end up with the eagerly awaited HEA! I loved the epilogues and that they covered a large span of time.
Grumpy Gareth Whelan is stuck in the States when he would rather be back home in Ireland for St Patrick's. His driver takes him to a real Irish pub and that is where he lays eyes on Caitlin. Now he won't rest until she is by his side, forever. Caitlin has drifted through life ever since she had to move in with her aunt and uncle. She never really noticed guys until a cranky but gorgeous man comes in the pub and won't take his eyes of her. There is no way a man like him is interested in her, right?
Elisa Leigh spun us quite a tale for St Patrick's Day! Gareth is the definition of grumpy, bordering on surly. He softens when he meets Caitlin but he certainly isn't perfect. Caitlin is quite stubborn, with reason but she comes around. The connection between them is sudden but doesn't feel rushed. They both have found what they were looking for in each other. The epilogue is adorable and gives me all the feels. Every time I pick up one of Ms. Leigh's books I know it will be a sweet, hot story that puts a smile on my face. The Irishman is no exception! 5 stars for Caitlin and Gareth!
Quick, cute read! Not sure who sleeps through a complete 'kidnapping' attempt......but whatevs! Was hoping for a little more angst towards the end with the whole office scene. Lord knows I would've hightailed it out of there pretty darn fast. Very interested in the rest of the Whalen brother's stories!
Once again, we were provided with a hot as heck story, with some emotional moments, sexy moments, intense and believable chemistry between the main characters, the grumpy sexy alpha, Gareth and the sweet yet feisty heroine, Caitlin, some angst, little drama, steamy and passionate intimate scenes ;) , a family reunion between brothers and new sisters in laws, and a happily ever after <3
A great start to a what's looking to become an awesome series and I can't wait for the next stories of Gareth's brothers! :)
Girl met boy. Girl liked boy. Boy sorta kidnapped girl. End. This was a quick insta love story. OTT and riddiculous plot. Unbelievable at best. The smutness was okay. HEA. Safe read.

Carrie works in an Irish pub in Chicago owned by her uncle. When her family died in a car accident her uncle and his wife raised her. Gareth is in town for business from Ireland and is looking for a drink after a long day. Gareth had been told by his dad that when he found his one, his soul would know it to be true. After Caitie lost her family she has been lost and doesn't know what to do with her life. Well, first I'm confused at the age that Caitie lost her family. I'm thinking it was between the age of 9 and 11 but her timeline keeps jumping around. Second if she is in fact between 9 and 11 that's awful young for her parents to leave her home alone just so she can study for a test while they all go out to get ice cream. Besides that the story was just ok. He rescues her from a possible rape, they end up having smex that night. He kidnaps her and takes her to Ireland. She decides to stay. They argue and then its resolved. I didn't feel any love or chemistry between the two MC's. It felt like lust to begin with and she should have made him grovel more before she accepted his apology for the way he spoke with her. Especially since he couldn't get himself up from behind his desk to run after her himself. **** i recieved a free ARC in exchange for a honest review***

The Irishman is book one in the Whelan brother series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I really enjoyed this story. I was hooked from start to end. I liked Gareth. He was a grump until he met Caitlin. His mood soon shifted when he laid eyes on Caitlin. The chemistry between Gareth and Caitlin was instant and the attraction between them was clear to see. They really did make a cute couple. I liked that Caitlin had a bit of sass. I also liked that Gareth was over the top protective of Caitlin. He knew she was the one for him from the moment he saw her. Having to return home to Ireland the next day, Gareth used Caitlin’s tiredness to get his own way. I really liked the snippets of Cormac and Finola. I cannot wait to read their story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read.
Review: Got to love a possesive, OTT Irishman! This book was so good and I couldn't put it down like the rest of this author's books. Gareth knew what he wanted and stopped at nothing to get it. That was Caitlin. Plane ride included!
I also enjoyed the the whole plot. There was an angsty moment that made me feel for Caitlin so much.... and I absolutely loved it. I live for those angsty moments. Another great book and I highly recommend it.
This book was a great start to the Whelan brothers books and I seriously need the next book like yesterday. Caitlin knows what real pain is because she lost her parents and sister in and accident and has fell like she doesn’t really belong in her uncles home. Gareth is in the country for business but as soon as he sees Caitlin he knows she’s his soulmate. He does everything in his power to make her his and keep her even if it means taking her with him. Cailtlin knows things are moving quickly. It when it comes to matters of the heart you have to do whatever you le heart wants. Totally safe book with amazing characters!! I can never get enough of this author
I knew I was going to love this book the second I new it existed. I mean come on… one of my favorite authors, insta love and an Irishman?! It can't be anything other then amazing.
Though I loved the entire book, the beginning was my favorite. There is just something about the first meeting between fun characters that create that instant love; I just can’t seem to get enough of.
This author knows how to write and she has found her groove, this might be (and this is a difficult statement to make) my favorite story from her! Total swoon worthy and IRISH!! Lol. I would love the brother's stories if the author is so inclined…
This is a good start to the Whelan brothers series. Gareth and Caitlin meet at the bar where Caitlin is working. Gareth comes off as a jerk but once he lays eyes on Caitlin it is love at first sight.
They leave the bar together but nothing happens between them. While Caitlin is sleeping Gareth “kidnaps” her and it is a little weird that she wouldn’t notice until the plane but I loved how the story Unraveled.
This is a cute love story and I love how Caitlin made Gareth work to win her love.
I always start reading Irish books with an accent but realize I just can't do it. Such a beautiful language. Not being able to do it doesn't take away from the book. I love how Gareth fell in love with Caitlin and took her to Ireland the next morning. While he was gone one of his brothers also fell in love. Their father told them it would happen like that. Caitlin has had nightmares handed since meeting Gareth they stopped or did they. Read this book to see what happens. It's sooo good. :)
This was just not for me. It was a short quick read which was good. However the whole alpha male, knowing he is hers forever with just one sight was a little far-fetched but not the worst part. He saves her from a rowdy bar patron, who tries to attack her. He then takes her to his hotel and takes her virginity. He then "kidnaps" her to Ireland, and she only wakes up mid flight?! What. So weird and far fetched. i just couldn't get on board with this story.
Gareth sees Caitlin working at her uncle’s pub & immediately makes it his mission to claim her. Innocent, curvy Caitlin doesn’t know what to make of grumpy, rough around the edges Gareth. She has yet to realize that what a Whelan man wants, he gets. This was another great, insta-love, quick read full of steamy scenes. Looking forward to her next book!
This sexy little insta-love is the first in the Whelan Brothers series and is about Gareth and Caitlin. A sexy Irish accent and super possessive, Gareth wanted Caitlin as soon as he saw her. Caitlin deserved happiness after surviving a heartbreaking past and she found it with Gareth. Loved the epilogue. Just a small hiccup for me - who’s Kiernan? But a cute story overall.
I think a review of a book or item, is to tell if what you are reviewing is worth it, not tell the story itself! Well I’m going tell you, download this freaken book and be pleasantly surprised like I was! The cover should make you want to do that! Love reading Mrs. Elisa’s stories!
The story was too far-fetched for me, especially the part where Caitlin wakes up on the jet, not knowing how she got there. Her first thought should have been whether she'd been drugged. Her ability to put her trust in Gareth in such a short amount of time was unbelievable as well. A nice HEA though.
°Virgin heroine °Hero's been celibate for years °Switching POVs °Insta love/lust °Possessive obsessed OTT alpha hero °Free of OW/OM drama °No separation °No cheating °Intimate scenes only between hero and heroine °Epilogue: almost 16 years later
Great book. Quick read. They say you know when you know. Well Gareth fell instantly in love with Caitlin. Doesn't mean that there weren't bumps in the road. When Gareth said forever, he definitely meant forever. Caitlin had some tragedy in her life and was not looking for anyone but when Gareth caught his first glimpse of her, he knew she was the one.
This book was by far the worst I’ve ever read!!! The author must’ve had a check list on things to put in this book. Seriously everything happened to this couple!!! Both of them were dramatic, immature, exhausting, ridiculous and pitiful. Red flags everywhere. Don’t waste your time reading this book, you will never get it back…….🤬
OMG wow!!! The insta love is hot. Sparks fly for Gareth and Caitlin instantly. I love Elisa’s books and again The Irishman did not disappoint. Must read!! I seriously can’t wait for the other brothers stories..
