The Pinkerton Matchmaker #20

An Agent for Brielle

Rate this book
A beautiful mathematician, a politician, and a murder case that isn't what it appears to be...

Brielle Bradford arrives in Denver, Colorado for one purpose: end her two-year engagement to the prominent politician Matthias Blackburn. What she discovers is that Matthias has put away his political aspirations to fight crime the Pinkerton way. Still reeling from the news, she is enlisted as a temporary agent in order help solve a murder case. The only problem: she has to marry Matthias.

Matthais has never gotten over Brielle's betrayal. Her reluctance to be his wife baffles him when he knows she loves him as much as he loves her. Yet, marriage to Brielle is what he wants and he'll take it anyway he can, even if its a marriage of convenience for the sake of a murder case.

Further testing the couple is a suspect whose enigmatic intelligence and attractiveness lures Brielle away from the case. But Matthias won't give up until they find their suspect and nor will he give up Brielle without a fight.

She is only going there to end her engagement but what she finds is very different. He cannot understand what is going on with her so when she is recruited to join him in a mission, he hopes to sort it all out. For the mission to work they need to be married. How is that going to work? The suspect is distracting her from the job. Can he keep her safe? Can they break the case? Will he get her to see they are meant for each other? See how they get on

Competitors, not comrades

Brielle may be brilliant academically but she lacks social skills and tact, which initially makes her a little difficult to like. However as we get to know her better she seems to soften slightly and become less abrasive. Matthias is still trying to find himself, he has changed his career after getting his heart broken and then an attempt on his life, he has embraced being a Pinkerton Agent but his heart still aches. Now that Brielle is finally here can he heal his heart and have the future together that he dreamt of?
With lots of passion, puzzles and unexpected encounters this is a sweet addition to the Pinkerton Matchmaker series which I read on Kindle Unlimited.

Another great story that I enjoyed in this series and by this author. Brielle Bradford go to Denver to see her sister Arielle, meet her brother-in-law and end things with Matthias. When arrives her sister is on assignment and she discovers that he work for the Pinkerton Agency. She is into Math and the agency has a case they can use her help with and ask her to help. The thing is she has to marry Matthias. They get a second chance as they work together to find a murderer. Looking forward to reading more of this series.

I had a hard time getting into this story. The beginning of the story is more about the characters than the suspense to come, and I'm just not into people stories - I like action and conversation! Well, there came plenty of action as we get into Brielle and Matthias' job - finding a murderer at a party for geniuses. Brielle is a brilliant mathematician and will easily fit into the crowd, Matthias will have to find his place as they search for the person who killed the man who claims to have the answer to Fermat's equation.

I didn't like that the story got a bit steamy in a couple of places. Just a little bit overboard but not over the line. Other than that this is a clean read.

Not my favorite in this series. There were several things that were confusing, like the talk of “darkness” and it being attracting. I felt like a lot of points were missing in the story and it was hard to keep up with what was happening or what happened in the past. So much if the story focused on Brielle and Matthias’s past that it overshadowed the adventure of finding the killer. I hadn’t read the book about Brielle’s sister Arielle. Maybe things would have made more sense if I had read that book first.

Brielle is Arielle's (#12) sister. She has come to break off her engagement to Matthias only to find out he's a Pinkerton Agent and needs her specific math skills on a new case.
As nice as it was to revisit Matthais and his actual financee, I didn't really enjoy this book. Brielle kept talking about "the darkness" inside that didn't really make sense. Also, their romance seemed to overshadow the mystery in the book. I just found it felt rushed or something and not as good as the majority of the other books in this series.

Instead of breaking her engagement with Matthias Brielle is now married to him. They need to solve a murder as Pinkerton agents. Matthias is in love with her and wants their marriage to become real but what when another man connects with her? Can they solve the crime without losing each other?
Luckily I’ve read Arielle story or it would be a little confusing. I love the fight equality of all people in this story. Great mix of romance and suspense.

This is a short well written story that held my interest until the last page, the story flows smoothly from page to page. The twentieth book in the Pinkerton Matchmaker series and the first book by this Author that I have read. I will be looking to read more books in this series. There is suspense, drama, danger, attempted murder, and romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

If you have read this series you will immediately remember Matthias Blackburn from a previous book. He is no longer in politics, but an agent. Enter Brielle Bradford looking for her sister Arielle (Yes, you do remember). When Brielle is solicited to become a temporary agent so that her brilliant mathematical mind can be used there is only one hitch she must marry Matthias.
Since Matthias has been in love with her forever, his head swirls with the possibilities but Brielle is stunned! While this book does not have the depth of plot others have had, it continues to do well for this series and the genius of the characters comes through.

We get to meet Brielle, who just happens to be Arielle's sister about to embark on her own Pinkerton Journey and with a guy in her past she didn't or hoped she wouldn't have to see again.
It had humor, tension, intrigue and good characters. And you just might get to see some old friends. so when you get a chance pick up a copy and enjoy.

Brielle Bradford was the sharp mind that was needed to help catch a killer. Too bad she had to marry her ex-fiance and Pinkerton agent in order to do this. Will they find the killer? Will they find their way back to love? Read this fun and intriguing book to find out.

In An Agent for Brielle I liked that she meets up with Matthias, and old beau, and has to marry him in order to solve a murder. It was nice to see a female character who is the smart member of the investigative team. Brielle and Matthias work well to solve the crime and fall in love along the way.

Published too soon.

Good story line but the many grammatical and spelling errors were distracting. I believe it was rushed to be published and needed proofing.

Great!

Both the sisters stories are great. The railroad scene was reminicent of Perils of Pauline. Ok wonder if we are going to get another sister Pinkerton? ☺

This cover really pulled me in! I love that this is about a black couple of Pinkertons! The brilliant mathematician, Brielle, is a wonderful character with self-doubt at the same time that she is confident! Her contradictions are her best quality and make her more realistic!
