This is a steamy novel that is filled with so many sweet moments between the hero and heroine and with great secondary characters, who add depth, humor, and angst to the story. Add in a wonderful, sweet, grand-gesture of an ending and you have a recipe for a great romance.
I loved Devin & Normali (aka Mani) . He was the perfect counterpoint for Normali - a famous Baseball player who is confident, cocky, loyal and a family man. He comes from a loving family and would do anything for those he loves. Normali on the other hand, had a rough childhood/adolescence and is broken, but she lives her life and tries to overcome her past. She is the kind of heroine I like. She is strong, loyal, and a kick-ass chick, but she also had a past in which she had to do some terrible things under her evil father’s manipulations. She & her BFF Miguel have left that life behind them, but the past is going to come back to haunt them in a big way and Devin is determined to not allow anything or anyone to hurt his girl! (Even when he f**ked up badly, he was swoon worthy! ).
I loved this story because this couple had an instant attraction and though their first “meet” didn’t quite go well, Devin knew from the start that Normali was “it” for him and was super protective & alpha. Unfortunately, she is dealing with her insecurities and a past that may hurt the people she loves and tried to push him away, but he wouldn’t have it and eventually neither allows her baggage to ruin what they have. The two need each other to grow. And they do—all the way to a hard fought for, happily-ever-after!
I have not read any of the previous series and don’t feel that I missed anything, so this can easily be read as a stand-alone. Like the heroine, I’m not big on Baseball (I’m a Football fan myself) and cheered when she said the following:
“Listen I don't watch baseball, I'm more of a football girl. I'd rather watch big, muscular guys tackle each other in tight pants then hit a small ball and run around some bases.”
SAFETY: No cheating, No OW/OM drama. Heroine was a virgin and Hero was not a Manho but he was no saint either before he met heroine, but thankfully no details about that was given. There is a HEA but no epilogue of the future which was a bit disappointing.
Now I can’t wait for Lacy’s & Nico’s story. I hope he didn’t cheat on her though, but something tells me he did….

The strength of Normani and the sweetness of Devin is what makes this book amazing. Then of course it’s a Nicole Rodrigues’ book so it’s hot at Hell and we’re not disappointing on that part! But this love story is for me the journey of the heroine to accept and fight her demons. And I loved how badass and strong she is! Bravo Nicole!

This series just keeps getting better and better. I have been dying to get my hands on Devlin's book from when we first met him in book one Curveball he just stole my heart in that first book where he was all protective with his mom and sister and I just knew he would be the best book boyfriend. So I will recommend you read the entire series first if you haven't or just book one maybe if you really don't want to read the other so you get the dynamic in the family.
I didn't think Nicole could write a book more steamy than Ballers with Benefits oh dear was I wrong! This book is kinda a build-up of sexytime. You start with these sweet moments that will make your heart melt and will make you fall in love with both Devlin and Normani. Then work your way up to moments where you think your house is on fire because you feel like you are burning up from the heat coming off of these pages!
You first met Normani in book 3 and you just instantly know she is special. You just know this woman is a strong one, that she had experienced thing that will make your heart hurt but despite all her strong vibes you also know you have to handle her with care or she will run.
She continued to pull me in and intrigue me in this book. I was amazed at how strong a woman she was how she still had so much love to give and she was still just so innocent despite her past was beyond me. I felt with her all through this book and I wished I could have just given her a hug and told her she was amazing and a superwoman in my eyes.
Even though there is the emotional part of the book with Normani's past and other stuff this book never felt that heavy because the more Normani got out of her shell the more she bloomed and became this funny sassy woman that just kept making everyone around her smile including me.
Devlin is a complicated man. He has his mothers kindness her heart and he is a huge family man and is really protective of the people he loves. But he unfortunately also got some of his dads Gabriels more stupid genes and sometimes he ends up being a huge asshole where all I wanted to do was kick him so hard and I wished Naromani would just kick his ass like I knew she could (that woman can fight!) So even though he is so sweet and the perfect man when he screws up well he screws up worse than most let me tell you that and he is way to stubborn for his own good.
So, all in all, she did it again. This book just pulled me in and got me hooked from the beginning. It had some different vibes than the other books in the series because there are a little action and fighting in this book but it only made it better for me I love some good action.
And then, of course, the books end on a major cliffhanger! I can't wait for the next book in this series I need it now and I am really impatiently waiting for the next one because it just cants get here quick enough if you ask me!!!

I have mentioned a few times on here about just how much I love the Double Play series. I have also mentioned in every review just how much I had been waiting for each book. However, Devin's story has been THE book I have been anticipating since his mothers story in Curveball, literally before I even found out he was going to have a book. And let me tell you, this exceeded any and all of my expectations.
Nicole wrote a phenomenal story that reaches inside you and grips your heart. I cried, I laughed, I swooned and I fell deeper in love with Devin Gavinwood in this book. On top of that, I believe I have a new heroine crush and her name is Normani.
How does one write a review that will do a book one loves wholeheartedly justice? Well quite honestly this one can't. This is one of those books you have to experience yourself. You have to go through the heartaches, and pain yourself to truly appreciate the happiness and love. I can't tell you what I wish to tell you without spoiling this empowering love story or 100% getting it across to you just how incredible it really is.
The emotions I had whilst reading this heartbreaking and heartwarming book is indescribable. I cannot wait for more people to fall in love with Devin and Normani's epic love story.

5 star swoon-worthy sports romance. Nicole Rodrigues is bringing the HEAT with this Double Play series. I was so excited to read Devin Gavinwood's story. He is the alpha romance book lovers dream of and wish they had in their lives.
Changeup is Devin's story and it was amazing from start to finish. The chemistry between Normani and Devin was smoking HOT! He was one of the hottest baseball players in the league and Normani was a badass PT at DPPT. She knew playboys and didn't want one in her life. What she failed to realize off the bat was that he was a gentleman and sexy AF. SWOON. I loved that Devin tried so hard to break down her walls and when he did it was memorable.
Major props to Nicole Rodrigues. She just keeps getting better at writing steamy scenes. They are sensual and exciting.
There were so many twists and turns that made this book 5 star worthy. Just when you thought these two would get their HEA something or someone would find a way to put a dark cloud over them. One of the best things about Nicole's stories is that they are so realistic and relatable.

I swear this series just gets better and better which each book that comes out. If you haven’t read this series yet you are MISSING OUT!
We’ve met smooth talking Devin Gavinwood and we’ve got a little glimpse into Normani, but their story is beautifully heartbreaking. This story had me ugly crying, it broke my heart, but it also mended my heart.
There is an instant connection between Devin and Normani. Of course, Mani doesn’t want anything to do with Devin, but the man is persistent and doesn’t give up on what he wants. He is living his dream playing the major leagues, having a great season and has the love of his family. Mani is working at Double Play, has quickly become best friends with Bella and Lacey and has a pseudo family in the Gavinwood/Turner gang, but there is still so much of her past they don’t know and can never know. Of course, the past doesn’t always stay hidden. Devin will do anything in his power to protect Normani and she will do everything in her power to protect Devin from her past.
The chemistry between Devin and Normani was HOT and EXPLOSIVE. The Gavinwood temper is definitely present in Devin and shows several times, but those men will protect those they love no matter what. This story was full of drama and secrets, more so than the others in my opinion. The girls though, I want to hang out with Bella, Lacey and Mani one day. They’d be a blast to have a girls night with! Love the sass and the crazy!
Make sure you have your tissues ready when you sit down to read this because they will needed, maybe even a drink or twenty. And the ENDING!?!?! Seriously, waiting for book 5 is going to be a long one.

I have been wanting Devin and Normani’s story since she first came around in book 3!
I was not ready for it. Like Kevin Hart says “Noooo she wasn’t readyyyyy!!” Haha
I fell in love with Devin and his country boy charm. Yes he is a lot like his father, Gabriel but he was just more sweet and charming. He might have beat out Jackson as the number one spot!🙊 WHAT! I knowwww. I loved me some Jackson but there was just something about Devin that just pulled my heart strings.
Now Normani, my badass superwoman. This chick is one strong and tough little lady. I don’t think I would ever want to mess with her or get on her bad side. But how Devin made her finally see and feel love, again pulled on my poor heart strings!
Everyone needs to read this story and really all of the Double Play Series! They are steamy, heartbreaking, and loving all wrapped together. To me the best kind of romance book you can ever read!!

I have started calling Nicole Rodrigues the 'Swoon Queen'… and for darn good reason.
Once again, she’s written a book worthy of 5 stars! Hook, line and sinker.
Devin John Gavinwood is the starting pitcher for the Cajuns and he’s cocky, smooth-talking, and a true lady’s man.
Normani Jameson is a broken spirit with a dark secret and a fighting determination. She’s simply trying to hide in the shadows of her sordid past and is content to stay there until Devin brings his cocky self to Double Play PT one fine day.
These two met at Charlotte’s birthday party and haven’t been able to get their minds off one another since. Devin plays a good game, though, on and off the field and soon, he’s starting to tear down Normani’s walls.
As fate would have it though, our pasts have a way of sneaking back up on us when we let our guards down, and Normani’s is no different. Devin is a protective man and starts to take Normani, the woman who’s slowly crawling under his skin and right into his heart, under his wing. But even Devin can’t prepare for what’s coming…
I loved this book, as I have all the others in this heart-warming, swoon-worthy series.
Devin-- Charlotte and Gabe’s son and Bella’s brother-- is a true southern gentleman (aka caveman/cowboy) and he had me swooning right away with his accent and mannerisms. Normani is the inner bad-ass chic in all of us; a true fighter who’s been through hell, wiped the blood from her lips, and stands back up for more. She’s stronger than she knows, despite her fears and her big heart is the most amazing thing about her. She’s a true blue heroine that’s super easy to love. This love story was sassy, sexy and had all the feels. And as always, I loved hearing about the other Gavinwoods/Turners and now Johnsons :-D
If you love baseball-- cowboys-- feisty female leads and a story with a good twist then Changeup is right up your alley -- or down the plate (wink, wink).
It truly has something for every romance fan. You won’t be disappointed!

I loved this book, as I have all the others in this heart-warming, swoon-worthy series.
Devin-- Charlotte and Gabe’s son and Bella’s brother-- is a true southern gentleman (aka caveman/cowboy) and he had me swooning right away with his accent and mannerisms. Normani is the inner bad-ass chic in all of us; a true fighter who’s been through hell, wiped the blood from her lips, and stands back up for more. She’s stronger than she knows, despite her fears and her big heart is the most amazing thing about her. She’s a true blue heroine that’s super easy to love. This love story was sassy, sexy and had all the feels. And as always, I loved hearing about the other Gavinwoods/Turners and now Johnsons :-D
If you love baseball-- cowboys-- feisty female leads and a story with a good twist then Changeup is right up your alley -- or down the plate (wink, wink).
It truly has something for every romance fan. You won’t be disappointed!

Book 4 in Double Play Series. This time, Nicole graces us with the ever charming Devin and a bull headed Normani, both waving their way to each other with little tid bits of romance, bucket of sexiness, emotional memories and full on drama.
Please watch out for a killer ending. I don't know if I hate you or love you, Nic. I have been spending restless nights with heavy bags under my eyes. Moving on to the book, just when you're recovering from a heavy dose of Bella and Damon's Book, you'll be rammed over with Changeup again. It is passionate, understandably considerate and irrevocably controlled. Devil is in full alpha mode for his lady love while Normani is trying her best to resist this beast of a man at every chance she gets but for how long, you may wonder? I wondered that too. Fucking killing me already.... I screamed, jumped, wailed and finally was in verge of dying at the end of the book. I have to say this, amongst all other books of this series, Changeup is more mature, emotionally. It is dealing upperhand with a broken woman who is strong but way too scared for anything carrying her own past scars. While Devin is as clean as a slate, one may wonder why he's so into her but it can only be answered with Normani's Personality. Her strength. Her sovereignty. Her attitude. Everything about her is catching. So who wouldn't risk falling for this chic?

This is hand on heart my favorite book series. I can't get enough of them and just want more and more every time I finish one! This book literally ticks all the boxes! Sweet, Sassy, Sexy, and Steamy. If you haven't read the first 3 then you really need to, so you can get a feel for all the Characters.
I was so happy to hear we were getting a book about Devin, after seeing how sweet and protective he was of his mum and twin sister in the the first book 'Curveball'. We knew he would just make the best book boyfriend! and he did not disappoint. Devin comes from such loving family and would do anything for the people he loves. There is instant chemistry between Devin and Normani. But
Normani is a sassy and strong woman who doesn't want anything to do with Devin. But for how long can she resist the smooth talker?
This book was full of lots of drama, secrets and sexy scenes. I highly recommend you reading it! Bring on book 5, Lacey and Nico’s story!

Damn Nicole, your books keep getting better and better. I seriously can’t get enough! This books had me hooked from the start. We meet young Devin in the first book in the series, Curveball. And let me tell you I have wanted a piece of him from the get to.
Devins a smooth talking southern gentlemen that is very protective of his family and close friends. The minute Devin meets Normani, he knows that she needs to be his but when he try’s to make a move she shuts him down straight away. He can sense that she’s had it tough and he’s determined to do anything to try and make her his!
Normani is one hell of a woman, but no matter how strong she is she feels that she can’t settle down, make friends or fall in love, because as soon as she does her past comes back to get her. But after receiving the new she’s always wanted to hear she take that chance on Devin, but low and behold her past comes back.
This story is truely beautiful, but also a little heartbreaking at the same time. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Devin is living the life as one of the best starting pitchers in the league getting all the women he wants - well except the ones that want him for him and not his status and money. Normani is trying to start her life over as a physical therapist at Double Play. When they run into each other at a family party Devin is convinced Mani is the one. Mani is terrified of how her body reacts to Devin but soon finds that she can't resist him as much as she feels she needs to.
Devin is smooth, sweet, charming and sexy but I loved that he kept sticking his foot in his mouth with Mani at the beginning. I was laughing my butt off. But one Mani finally gave in to Devin and his charms it was fire! They couldn't get enough of each other and I couldn't get enough of them. I also was so excited that Mani trusted Devin and told him everything about her past and it wasn't some big looming secret the entire book. I can't stand that. But Nicole did not disappoint again.

I'm glad there was a follow on to this book series i think it would of been duller if there wasn't! I found that Devin & Normani's road to being a couple was a little rushed in this book however didn't take from the fact is was a great story like the rest with all the feels and a HEA. 😊
