Three very different sisters discover that life doesn’t always turn out as one would expect in this powerful romantic drama.
Heart’s Ease is the loveliest house anyone knows and home to the fortunate Blyth family. Siblings Felicity, Charity, Honor and Bruno enjoy a blissfully happy childhood there before life pulls them in very different directions.
Beautiful Felicity gains her handsome husband, delightful children and elegant London house, but all is far from perfect ... Charity, the clever one, lives for her work, with no time for emotional involvement, until the least romantic of meetings rocks her world… Sweet, homely Honor is devoted entirely to others, but dreams of a life of her own ... And Bruno, the indulged baby of the family, flies the nest only to find that independence may be tough ...
The sanctuary of a beloved childhood home can’t last forever. But the legacy of Heart’s Ease lives on in the Blyth family’s grown-up fulfilment and happiness.
Thank you NetGalley and Severn House for the eARC. Heart's Ease is the beautiful home that is beloved by the family who own it. The siblings, Felicity, Charity, Honor and Bruno grew up happy and secure under the benign love of their parents. When they have grown, we see how their lives turn out. They're all quite different, but each one of them are appealing characters who lead interesting lives. At first I didn't like Felicity much, but she changed for the better. This book is quietly wonderful, I loved it as much as I loved the author's Love in a Mist (another 5-star must read). Do yourselves a favor and read this heartwarming book! It was a welcome change from the mysteries I'd been reading, because it really makes you feel good and restores your faith in humanity. Highly recommended!
Meandering and dull. There was no point. I got to the middle of the book because I kept thinking there were build-ups when something big would happen-but no. Like when the mom went into labor-I thought maybe she would die. Nope. When Bruno hid from the babysitter and she couldn’t find him-nope. He just turned up in the house. So I finally had to stop reading it. None of the characters appealed to me. There was no plot.
Heart’s Ease is a very well written novel. A great plot with great characters and imagery. I throughly enjoyed this book. My thanks to the publisher for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
I loved this book, it's heartwarming and sweet. The plot is engrossing and enjoyable, the cast of characters is well thought and the setting is lovely. I look forward to reading other books by this author. Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
