Daniel: Faith Enduring through Adversity, A 13-Lesson Study

Rate this book
The fiery furnace. The lions' den. We all know the stories. But the book of Daniel, with its high moral standard and bewildering prophecies, is daunting nonetheless. Dare to be a Daniel? We've already failed. Yet one greater than Daniel has perfectly lived a life of exile on our behalf. Designed for groups and individuals, this Reformed Expository Bible Study gives users the resources they need to delve into God's Word and understand and apply it for themselves, leading to biblical transformation. Background information and commentary lay the groundwork before readers observe and analyze the Scripture text. Each of the thirteen lessons makes connections to the rest of the Bible and to Reformed theology before concluding with a section for personal application and a prayer prompt.

Daniel was one of the best Bible Studies I have done. Probably my favorite of the Old Testament. Some things I learned: 1) We live in a fallen world. God is in control of history. God will judge and punish the wicked. 2) The Old Covenant is gone. Through Daniel's visions, God lays out a blue-print of how that will be accomplished. Under the New Covenant, those who persevere in the faith will shine like stars. God will deliver His people through the trials and sufferings of this world to everlasting life. Powerful study. Augmented to the study were several commentaries: Daniel For You by David Helm, Daniel by James Montgomery Boice, Daniel and Revelation - A new partial preterist amillenial view by Eliphas Phiri, and Daniel - Reformed Expository Commentary by Iain M. Duguid.
