Rate this book
Charles Jennings’ fascinating book brings to life the story of three men, united only by their desire to travel faster than anyone had ever done before—and to claim for their country and themselves the coveted Land Speed Record. They were Henry Segrave, Malcolm Campbell, and John Cobb. What made these men invest their lives and fortunes in the pursuit of speed? The Fast Set is their riveting story—a brief, startling phenomenon of the inter-war years that blazed out as suddenly as it appeared.

A lot of focus on the cars, which is ok, I should have known better. However, I was wanting a bit more background on each of the racers. There was some, just not enough for my taste.

Good solid research, plenty of cogent character insight and this book evokes the era beautifully too - all told in a pacy style. Gripping stuff.
