Make You Mine

Nixon Brooks wasn’t your ordinary nineteen-year-old. He was singer-songwriter of three number one albums and currently on his third world tour. Music was his passion, and nothing stood in his way of giving it 110%. Not even Rosie, his most recent ex-girlfriend incapable of handling his busy schedule.

Harper Perkins was a travel blogger who enjoyed urban and rural areas alike. While she was sometimes accompanied by her best friend, Grace, she usually rode solo in her hollowed out van equipped with everything she needed to take care of herself. She had wide open spaces and her audience to keep her company.

On a warm summer night in Kansas City, Harper is home for Nixon’s concert. She’s going to be front row, and Grace has convinced her to go out and celebrate. Nixon’s reluctantly agreed to be his photographer’s wingman for the night. When Harper catches his eye, he risks any anonymity by introducing himself.

Will Nixon’s fame hinder the possibility of a future between them or will the constant distance between their traveling hearts keep them apart?

An ARC was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Make You Mine by Tess and Saundra Keeler is a fun, bubbly read that is perfect for your spring break TBR.
Nixon Brooks, certified celebrity hottie, is making waves in the music industry at just 19. He’s got a good thing going, and he’s happy to take life as it comes. But after the disastrous relationship that was his ex-girlfriend, he isn’t in the market for love... Until he meets Harper.
Harper has it all figured out. Her work is traveling: exploring the United States and all it has to offer, and then writing about it via her travel blog. She loves a good adventure, and is always up for a new experience. When a chance meeting with her favorite singer sweeps her into a world of romance, she’s not sure she’s entirely ready for the greatest adventure of all.
This was such a fun read! I loved the different settings the book took you; my adventure loving heart was so happy! It was fun to “visit” all of the different locations with Nixon while he was on tour; I thought the Keelers did a beautiful job of describing the places and making you feel like you were right there with him. Nixon and Harper were so adorable together. At first I wasn’t super sure about if they were a right match, but by the end I was BEGGING for them to be together. I liked that the book focused on the “real-life” aspect of relationships and the people in them, not necessarily on the drama. Don’t get me wrong, there were some good dramatic bits! But the plot felt like it was more about the organic nature of “meet cutes”. You got to know Harper and Nixon as people before you got to know them as a couple, and I think it added a really nice dynamic to the story. It took me a bit to get used to this, but once I did, it was such a refreshing view on romance. It was very everyday, the kind of thing I myself have been through in relationships and that I’ve seen my friends go through. It was nice to read about something so familiar but somehow not, as celebrity relationships (like most relationships) aren’t always daisies and roses.
Overall, Make You Mine was fun and refreshing. Thank you so much to the Keelers for reaching out and sending me a copy! If you’re looking for a light-hearted, good-timing romance this spring break, look no further.

I absolutely loved this book! Having one of the main characters living in Tulsa and the other main character living in Kansas City allowed me to connect even more to them. The book goes back and forth between the point of view of Harper and Nixon and allows you to be immersed in their blossoming relationship and feelings for each other. I laughed, I cried, I got so nervous for each of them, and I felt like I was right there with them. Their text exchanges made me smile and reminded me of when my boyfriend and I first met and lived in two different states...and those texts were what got me through that long-distance part of our relationship! I loved this book and cannot wait to read more by these authors!
