Miles Family #4

Hidden Miles

Rate this book
“I wasn’t ready for this. Hannah deserved a man who was whole, not a broken shell. But I couldn’t resist her. Couldn’t resist this. It felt too good. And would that be so bad? To have something that felt good for once?”

My name is Leo Miles, and I’m not a hero.

I came home broken — wounded and scarred. It’s been five years, and I haven’t left my family’s land. Not once. It’s not much of a life, but with the way I look now, I prefer to stay hidden.

My only reprieve is her voice. I put on my headset, log in to my game, and she’s there. We talk while we play, sharing everything but our personal details. She’s my best friend — my happy place — even though I don’t know her real name.

Until one day, I hear a voice I recognize. She’s here, at my family’s winery. Meeting Hannah Tate in person rocks my world. And discovering she’s in trouble — serious trouble — changes everything.

Hannah is my every fantasy come true. And this badass gamer girl is determined to break through my defenses. But between the mess that is my life, and the threats to my family’s safety, I can’t be anyone’s hero, least of all hers.

But maybe we both need saving.

4.25 hottest brotherhood, entertaining, heartwarming stars. This is my first Claire Kingsley and normally first Miles brothers book. I should have started chronologically but when I read the stories of brothers, Leo intrigued me so much so I’m hooked by this book. And I think I made the right choice because Leo is isolated, withdrawn, tormented man but he is also the most emotional, bravest, smartest, strongest, toughest brother and he is the anchor of the family!
When I read first pages, I was a little disappointed about heroine. Because her relationship with her boyfriend gave me doormat heroine alarm. I was about to stop reading but later I saw the strengths and determination of the character. She was also smart, straightforward, sense of good humor and she protects her loved ones. I was about to clap her speech when she stood up for Leo at the restaurant and forced the mean customers shut their mouths. So Hannah is the winner of the greatest heroine contest !!!
Final action parts were also entertaining, gripping, perfectly written.
So far Cooper attracted my attention. I think I’ll return back and read the book three. But I’m sure of that I chose the right and best book to start the series.

Hidden Miles is book four in the Miles Family series by Claire Kingsley. If you have read any of the books in this series and gotten to know the Miles siblings, then just like me, you’ve been waiting for Leo’s story. Claire was right in saving Leo’s story for last. I believe that Leo is the most unforgettable. Well, he might be neck and neck with Cooper, because, well, Cooper.

It’s been five years since Leo returned home. Since he was severely burned in an explosion while serving overseas. Leo came home a broken man, both on the outside, and on the inside. His scars are both visible, and invisible. Since Leo returned home, he has never left. It’s been five years and Leo has not put one foot over the Miles Family property line.

Leo takes care of the technical side of their family winery. He takes care of their computers and handles all of the security. Leo also finds gaming calming. It’s an escape, a time when he can turn off everything else in his head. That’s where he met Gigz. He doesn’t know her real name, but her voice soothes him. They would sometimes play and talk for hours. Gigz knows Leo as Iron Badger. Leo found himself looking forward to the time they spent online playing. Then one day the unimaginable happened. There was a wedding at their winery and as he was skirting around the guests, he heard her voice. There was no mistaking it, it was her. And she was breathtaking.

gaming

Hannah Tate was twenty seven years old and her life was a mess. She was in a bad relationship but didn’t know how to get out of it. She worked from home and didn’t have any friends. The time she looked forward to most was when she was on line gaming with her friend Iron Badger. They had some sort of a connection which was strange because she had no idea who he was or what he even looked like. When Hannah has to accompany her boyfriend to a wedding at a winery, she sees a man across the room and she is instantly drawn to him. Every part of her wakes up and takes notice. But then he’s gone, almost like he was never there at all. Like she imagined him.

When Hannah needs help, she is drawn back to that winery and soon discovers that the man she saw was the same man she has been listening to in her head set for years, Iron Badger. Leo can’t believe she is there and now selfishly, he doesn’t ever want her to leave.

“I was too broken to love her. I was too broken to love anyone.”

Hannah and Leo’s bond grows stronger but Leo doesn’t feel worthy of her. He’s scarred and broken. She deserves everything and he doesn’t have anything to give. Hannah knows Leo wants her as much as she wants him. She’s determined to wear down his resistance and wear him down she does. Leo hasn’t been with anyone since he came home. It’s been five years and let me tell you, Leo unleashed is a sight to behold. This man had so much passion bottled up. He is a dirty talking, sexalicious fantasy come true.

sweet kiss

Things still aren’t safe at the Miles Winery. They are still dealing with the after math of their father’s dealings. Leo knows it wasn’t fair to drag Hannah into the middle of all of their crazy. But he can’t help himself.

I think I’ll stop here. There is so much more I want to say about these two but I don’t want to give too much away. What I will say is how amazed I was with Leo. Hannah just seemed to know how best to help him. He made so much progress. She was so good for him. And Hannah fell in love with all of the Miles family as they did her. But don’t think their paths were easy. They had plenty of obstacles to overcome. And you know Cooper is always there to brighten everyone’s day, or to keep them confused.

Hidden Miles is technically the end of this series. But Claire saved a huge surprise for us all. She has written a novella which will focus on Shannon Miles, the matriarch of the Miles family, and Ben called Gaining Miles. After everything Shannon has been through, will she finally get her own happily ever after? She certainly deserves it.

I’ve been putting off writing this review as I hate to be a naysayer, but Hidden Miles just did not do it for me.

Leo is the tortured ex-military guy with horrific burns and scars as well as PTSD. Turns out the heroine has been his best bud as they play online games never having met each other in real life. She’s currently living with a police man that has exhibited domineering to abusive tendencies.

Leo sees her, or to be more accurate hears her at a wedding at the vineyard and falls hard for her, but makes the mistake of not telling her he saw when they hook up again online. Basically a non-issue. They have more to worry about.

The h’s cop boyfriend crosses the line, and the heroine ends up at the winery where they start to communicate in real life and try and ignore their attraction to each other despite living together. The h bounces back from her abuse from the BF, but Leo’s PTSD and panic attacks continue to sabotage his life and their burgeoning relationship.

The horrible father makes an appearance, and there was some satisfaction but I'm going to guess he's not completely gone.

My dislike of the books stems from a direction I didn’t care for and some issues that bug me personally.

The good news is Cooper is still around and as fun and crazy as ever. He is definitely an acquired taste that would drive some crazy, but I find any page he is on that much better.

I pre-bought this and was charged only to find out it's KU so you may want to check your order.

DNF 53% and that's after I skipped a bunch to get to the sex scene. No I am not a sex scene addict. It's just
1) the writing is excruciatingly boring
2) the characters aren't compelling
3) the plot is BORING
4) there's no chemistry really

So what's left but the sex scene? And even there, without all the rest of it, who cares.

I do not understand AT ALL where all the 5 stars came from.

If you are like me you have been waiting for Leo's story since book one of the Miles Family Series. Along the way we have received glimpses of Leo...The brother. The son. The ex-soldier who suffers from extreme PTSD-induced anxiety. The beautiful, broken, scarred man who hides himself away from the world and submerges himself in the safety of his families vineyard. The man who feels like he is less than; broken, disfigured and not worthy of love. He finds solace in the world of on-line gaming. In that virtual world, he isn't a disfigured man. He is the person he wants to be, the person he is on the inside even though his outside didn't reflect that. And in that virtual world, he mets Gigz. She doesn't know him as Leo Miles, he is simply Iron Badger, or Badge. A kickass gamer and her friend. Their online connection is free, easy and comfortable. Not only for Leo, but for Gigz. Gigz, AKA Hannah, is a women looking for an escape too. But when their virtual world and real life collide, will either of them be prepared for what comes next? Will Hannah be able to break down the carefully constructed walls that Leo has built and soothe his soul and allow him to receive love? Will the ghosts of Hannah's past allow her to open herself up to this deep, broody, haunted man? Claire Kingsley has delivered a perfectly crafted story of friendship, love and hope. The whole Miles clan makes an appearance in this fabulously engrossing read. You will laugh (ummmm because have you meet Cooper Miles?!?!?!?), your heart will break, you will want to scream, you will want a hug and you will root for Leo's HEA every step of the way. 5+ stars!!!!

Leo Miles is my kyptonite. A wounded vet isolating himself because he doesn't feel worthy of love. SIGN ME UP! Boy was he worth the wait. I loved the fact that Hannah and Leo had years of friendship, although they haven't met in person. When they do......fireworks. With the help of Hannah and the truly fantastic Miles clan (Cooper was especially amazing), Leo's true personality overrides any walls that he may have built around himself. His and Hannah's road to HEA was not a smooth one, but that just makes it all that much sweeter in the end.

Believe me, I’d give it more than 5 stars if I could. Leo is more than I imagined he would be. And that was tough to do. But Claire knocked it out of the park.

I ended this story with tears in my eyes, not because it was sad; on the contrary this is an emotional involving journey of a man who has gone into a downward spiral and back to real life without having the time to take a calming breath. Although struggling with his demons , Leo tried to live a normal life but his wounds were too deep but out of nowhere Hannah made her appearance. Her virtual calming presence gave Leo hope and when unexpectedly she turns up at his family’s winery just then he’ll realize that it’s time for him to come into light and give himself a chance to live once again. I’m not going to reveal the entire story because it’s the reader's task to read this overwhelming romance. I just want to say that I have been waiting for Leo’s story for a long time and I have not been deluded. I loved the entire developing of the story, the Miles family is a unique treasure, all of them are bonded with so much fondness that it made my heart swell with pure love.

Friends to Lovers
Small Town.

3.5⭐️ I liked it the first half but the couple got together 57% in and were saying they loved each other….. also the hero was wrong for what he did in the end 🤬🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼

The premise was great there’s internet friends who play video games together online. He’s a scarred hero who’s very insecure about it and she’s in an abusive relationship.

That’s all I say because again it was a good story I may of liked it more if I had read the other books in the series before because the plot is intertwined with the other books.

I do want to see the energetic brother story which is the book before this one so I may read that one 👀

I have been waiting and waiting for this book to release and it met every one of my expectations and beyond. Claire is a masterful writer who pulls you into her stories and makes you feel every emotion. Although it can be read as a stand-alone, Hidden Miles is book 4 and I do recommend that you start from the beginning and read them all. This series is about the Miles family who owns Salishan Cellars Winery in beautiful central Washington.

Each sibling is featured in their own unique story: Broken Miles (book 1), Forbidden Miles (book 2), Reckless Miles (book 3), and Hidden Miles (book 4). I love the clever book titles and cover art as each one perfectly reflects the characters in each story.

I can’t even begin to tell you how invested I am in this family and their journey together as well as each couple that is featured. I rarely read a book straight through, especially when it’s five hours long, but that’s what I do with a Claire Kingsley novel because I just can’t stop reading!

Hidden Miles features Leo, a wounded war veteran who lives on the family’s estate and serves as their head of security. You get glimpses of him in each of the previous books and just know what a gentle soul he is. Because of his disfigurement, he lives hidden in the shadows and mostly only speaks with his immediate family. Leo is amazing. He is brave, smart, talented, and so loyal to his county and those he loves. He has a great dry sense of humor and I especially love the banter between him and his siblings.

Leo, being a loner and a technical wizard, enjoys gaming and has been friends on-line for several years with a fellow gamer who goes by the nickname of Gigz. Hannah Tate knows him as Badger and even though they have never met, they have an undeniable connection. Leo is insecure because of his injuries yet longs for the time they get to spend together, even though it is just remotely.

He evades her suggestion of meeting in person, but when they do, their bond is so strong and their chemistry is off the charts! I don’t want to give away any spoilers but the way they meet is so romantic. He knows it’s her just from the sound of her voice. He is a hero in every way and goes out of his comfort zone to be with her and be the man she needs and is deserving of. Hannah was in an abusive relationship and is estranged from her parents, and I so admired how the Miles family rallied around to help and support her, no questions asked.

The entire Miles family is featured in this book and it’s like coming home. I love all of their conversations, how close they are, how they get into each other’s business, how they can laugh and cry together, and how they celebrate each other’s successes. They are so understanding and patient with Leo and Hannah, and you route for them to find their HEA the entire time. It’s not easy because each of them has baggage, but people aren’t perfect and I love how through her words, Claire makes you feel their every heartache, joy, and triumph.

When Leo is with Hannah he slowly lets down his guard and begins to feel worthy of her love. He is vulnerable and sweet, and I love all of their time together getting to know each other in real life, rather than behind the screen. These two are soul mates and even though they don’t always have it easy, they appreciate the simple things, and truly love and respect each other.

Hannah is so smart, strong and sassy. I love the chapter where she gets sexually frustrated and finally seduces him! She doesn’t see his scars, just the beautiful sexy man that she has fallen in love with. When Leo reacts badly to a certain situation, and has time alone to reflect on his life, he is finally able to see his own self worth and how his life is complete with Hannah by his side. During this time, I admire how Hannah handled the situation with courage and grace.

The Miles family is so close, not only physically, but emotionally as well. They embraced Hannah from the beginning, and I was glad when she reached out to her own parents to make amends. This book not only features strong family bonds and lots of romance, but is suspenseful and filled with angst as the family has been actively working on case involving Lawrence Miles, the absente father in this story who is the anti-hero. Using their superior technology skills, Hannah and Leo work together to take down the cartel which left me on pins and needles in awe of them both.

The epilogue in this book is my favorite chapter because it gives you a glimpse into their future. Everything ended as it was meant to be and I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait to read Shannon's (Leo’s mom) story in book 5, Gaining Miles, as she is such a strong, independent, and wise woman whom her children and Ben, who also lives and works at Salishan Cellars Winery, adore.

On a side note: Kudos to Claire because this book is filled with information that is very realistic. She really did her research because she so easily and cleverly talks about video gaming, running a successful business including marketing and event planning, the FBI, undercover drug operations, being a war veteran with post-traumatic stress, domestic violence, Cooper being a bit ADHD, etc.

LEO LEO LEO LEO LEO LEO

My gosh this book was EVERYTHING. Leo is a recluse and stays on his property at all time. Most of the time he is playing video games with his online bestie Gigs. So what happens when he recognizes her voice at his family‘s winery?

This book had a lot of heart we got to watch Leo’s Scars both mentally and physically hinder him and his relationship with Hannah. He does make major strides throughout the book, just to have him take 10 steps back.

Hannah was abused by her ex and didn’t know where to turn. When she shows up at Leo’s family’s winery, she gets way more than she bargained for. I really loved her. She was patient, kind and wanted to best for Leo.

Overall I couldn’t have asked for a better arc for Leo. He deserves the world, but never thought he was good enough.

”You don’t always know what the hard parts of life are going to teach you. Sometimes the worst experiences shape us into who we are, and we’re better for it."

Takes place in Echo Creek, a small town in the Cascade Mountains, where the Miles family owns a winery called Salishan Cellars.

Characters
Leo (29, Leo works for the winery handling all the tech aspects of the business as well as being in charge of security): He served in the Army, and during a tour in Afghanistan he was caught in an explosion. He suffered burns down the entire left side of his body and is lucky to be alive, but the scars are brutal (both inside and out). He's been diagnosed with PTSD and since coming back home (3years ago) he never leaves the winery and has become an agoraphobic hermit. He plays online gaming to combat the loneliness as it's the one place he feels free and finally able to release the big weight that sits on his chest. He's got very strong, protective instincts and needs to be in control.

Hannah (27, owns her own Graphic Design business): she is in an escalating abusive relationship with her boyfriend of a couple years. She's not exactly sure how to break free from her controlling, cop boyfriend and fear has been a deterrent in leaving. She has a bit of a strained relationship with her parents (due to the boyfriend) and has no friends or co-workers who could help her out. She feels stuck. She plays online games and it’s the one place she feels safe and free.

The Story
Although they had never seen each other nor did they have any personal information about each other, Leo (aka Iron Badger) and Hannah (Gigz) actually got to know each other through online gaming. Both lonely, these two gamers gravitated toward one another online.

Through sheer coincidence these two meet in real life and when Hannah gets into a bad situation, Leo is there to offer help. These two both have some broken aspects of their lives they need to address and resolve and both have some healing they need to do. However, the focus is primarily on Leo as his healing is mostly mental at this point and he has a lot of hurdles to overcome. Hannah's unwavering support is the catalyst to bring him out of the darkness and break down all his defenses. Her love envelops him every step of the way and she shows him that he can be open and vulnerable without fear.

Once again, the other members of the Miles family are ever present in this book too. They are there to lend love and support to both characters and continue to show that this is an extremely tight knit family. The overarching nemesis of the series (the father) again plays a role in this story. This portion of the plot has been a continuation through each book and resolves itself in this story.

And, Cooper strikes again......this time with a "sad-Leo box", which obviously is needed when Leo is sad (duh 😉).
"What is all this?”
"Stuff to help you feel better,” Cooper said, grinning like he was exceedingly proud of himself."

So what does Cooper feel is necessary for such a box? 🤔🤔hmm let's see:
1. packets of beef jerky—original, peppered, and teriyaki-flavored✅
2. potato chips✅
3. a deck of cards✅
4. a big bag of M&Ms✅
5. a DVD copy of Terminator✅
6. a few condoms ✅

Oh Cooper, even 4 books later I still love you ❤️ 😀

Overall
This has been a fantastic series. Each book has been a stellar blend of focusing on each specific couple and at the same time layering in the other members of the family to weave a magical story. I have certainly bonded with this family over the series and can actually say I love them all (although I must admit Cooper is my favorite). I’m so glad I took the journey with this family and it will be a bit sad to say goodbye.

- Do you need to read previous books in series?:I would say yes. At his point there is some overarching family drama that is present in each book. Plus, the foundation of each character in the Miles family was really established in Book 1, so I think it would add to the story to have all that background.
- POV: told from dual POV
- H likable? Yes
- h likable? Yes
- h virgin? No
- First time they kiss: 52%
- First time they sleep together: 54%
- OW/OM drama? There is some drama with Hannah’s ex-boyfriend.
- H/h cheat? No
- Steamy? Yes
- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets? Leo doesn’t reveal how he was injured until the very end of the book. It’s not a secret that impacts Hannah, so its more of a personal unwillingness of Leo to share painful memories and details.

- Cliffhanger? No

Quotes
“You sure, bro?” He opened his arms. “Do you need a jump?”
"A jump? I don’t know what that means.”
He widened his arms. “Emotional jumper cables.”
"Do you mean a hug?”
"Yep,” he said with a grin. “Bro hug, buddy.”
“No thanks.”
"You sure?” He raised his eyebrows. “It totally works. Everyone’s battery gets low sometimes. Emotional jumper cables, man. It’s a thing.”

“Who would have thought Mister Broody-Don’t-Touch-Me would be so cuddly?”

“I married into the best family. You should really consider marrying Leo. I know he’s kind of broody and doesn’t like… well, anything. But this family is awesome.”

“Holy shit,” he breathed. “What are you doing?”
"Distracting you with my boobs.”

"I’d be hers, body and soul, for the rest of my life."

“Hannah had saved me. From the darkness and pain. From the demons that had haunted me for so long. She’d showed me that I could come out into the light. That I could live again.”

"We were a family. Scarred, and a little messy, but a family filled with love that would last a lifetime."

Gah, this book was everything and it was SO worth the wait! I've been wanting Leo's book since we first meet him in Broken Miles (though, EVERYONE has been lol) and this books ties so much up from the others, and we get to dive into the mysterious Miles brother.

We already knew Leo was broken. He was hiding from the world, and didn't know how to come out of his shell. Enter Hannah. God bless this woman. She was everything he never knew he needed, and everything he thought he didn't deserve. From the beginning you could see that they had a connection. She brings him out of his shell, and when she needs him, he does what he can. They are SO freaking cute together. As always, there is humor (hello, Cooper Miles is still around...), some drama, hot sexy times, and some swoony AF moments. There were a few times where my heart just broke, but CK has this way of stitching it all back up.

Audiobook Review
Overall 4.5 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 4 stars

Oh Leo Miles, how I have wanted for your story from the moment I met you in Broken Miles. I was pretty much obsessed with this audiobook right from the start and I couldn't wait to finally find out more about the reclusive Miles brother. This was an emotional story that addressed some very serious topics, but I felt that Claire Kingsley balanced it all very well with humor and heart. This is the 4th book in the Miles family series and would best be enjoyed if read in order.

I loved the relationship that blossomed between Hannah and Leo. Even though there is a degree of instalove, Leo and Hannah already knew each other for several years thanks to their shared love of online gaming, so it felt more like a friends to lovers situation to me. Their sexual chemistry was scorching hot and let's just say bedroom Leo was quite the delicious surprise. There is some drama late in the book, but it was understandable given their histories and it was resolved fairly quickly. I appreciated that Leo's demons didn't magically disappear and that it was something he was working towards for himself and those that love him. The epilogue and bonus epilogue were exactly what my heart needed more of - swoons and laughs. Catching up with the entire Miles family and finally getting a resolution to their family drama was also very satisfying. It was a great thread to carry throughout all the books, and though it all finished up a little too conveniently and neatly, I thought it was a fitting conclusion to that story line. I'm looking forward to Ben and Shannon's story next, now that they finally have the green light.

Samantha Cooke was wonderful as Hannah, but it was Teddy Hamilton who really stole the show on this audiobook. He was perfect as broody and alpha Leo, but also showed his vulnerable side so well during the more emotional scenes. I have enjoyed this series so much on audio and definitely recommend it!

This book was so worth the wait.

I loved when Roland and Zoe got their second chance romance.
I cheered when Bryncess and Chance got their HEA.
I swooned with each ridiculous, yet charming stunt Cooper pulled to sweep Amelia off her feet.
But Leo? Leo Miles was the one I was waiting for. He was the isolated and lonely hero whose disfigured flesh only hinted at the pain and scarring on the inside. And he was the one who deserved absolution and adoration the most.

Besides his family, the only person who had managed to bring him any solace during those empty years, and a even a spark of occasional joy, was someone he would never meet in real life. But then he heard her voice in a familiar place and his whole world turned upside down.

Some say that heroes aren’t born, they’re made - and if that’s the case, then Leo was the exception to that rule. Even the pain and fear that had gripped him for years wasn’t enough to stop him from protecting the ones he loved. His journey from affliction, to forgiveness, to rehabilitation was almost as difficult and painful to navigate as his initial injuries. But thanks to a scrappy, brave, yet equally as damaged heroine, they both come out stronger because of it. This book had me tied up in knots, (the good and the bad,) but I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome for our Hidden Miles.

This was basically what I had hoped for from the blurb, so no complaints. It's a little unrealistic but a lot romantic. It could have used some more of them working on their own issues (and was there a reason he couldn't get any reconstructive surgery?) Honestly, I think it could have been twice as long and I would have liked it even more.

Leo. We have seen of him throughout our journey with the Miles family. This scarred man has intrigued us. We have all been waiting anxiously to know his secrets and see into the shadows were Leo hides. (Because you know us romance readers, we can’t resist a broken man) And now Leo’s story is here. And what a story it is.

Leo is a former member of the military who was gravely injured in the line of duty. The scars linger, physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Leo has become agoraphobic and can’t leave his family’s land. The control he exerts over himself, his home, and his life is what holds the shattered pieces together. His world has narrowed down to his computer, his family, and the relationship he has formed with Gigz, another gamer. Leo never expects to meet Gigz in person, but always expect the unexpected when it comes to the Miles family. Especially if Cooper Miles is around.

Hannah is a tattooed gamer who is going through a difficult time in her life. She has a boyfriend, but their relationship has dissolved into feelings of fear and isolation. She doesn’t know how to get out, but she does get to escape into her computer games with her long time gaming partner Badger. She’s never met Badger, but when she needs an escape from her the weight of her life, he is who she turns to.

Fate intervenes. Badger and Gigz meet as Leo and Hannah. But meeting is the easy part and just the beginning of the story. Leo wants Hannah. He craves her. But he doesn’t deserve her, or so he believes. Hannah sees Leo. She sees past the scars, past the secrets, and past the shadows. She sees him. They want to be together, but there is so much in between them. The fire between them burns bright from the start and rages out of control when they finally do come together. Scorching. She had fantasies and he bought a book. You’ll see.

There are struggles, there are mistakes, and there are misunderstandings. But there is also love and forgiveness and happily ever afters. And burning mattresses. And the epilogue? ALL. THE. FEELS. Ms. Kingsley has created realistic characters whose scars, both emotional and physical, are deep and painful, and who struggle to see past those scars to the happiness that is waiting for them. She takes the reader on a journey with Leo and Hannah as they discover how to fit their broken pieces fit together to make one mended soul, ending with a wonderful glimpse into the blissful future awaiting them.

Love, Family, Suspense and so much more... I wish there was the ability to give more than 5 stars!!

This book was everything that we needed from Leo -and Hannah was an amazing addition to this awesome family.

Let’s start with the gaming- I get that this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and I don’t think you need to enjoy gaming or even care about it one way or another to love this book, but it added an extra level of enjoyment for me because gaming is BIG in my family. The references and escapism were well written and so true to life. I loved this piece.

Leo is so strong and brave and a true hero, and I absolutely loved that about him. His love for Hannah is so strong and perfect. My favorite Leo quote, “It’s our job to protect those that are weaker than us. As men, that’s our duty.” I mean seriously- he is so swoon-worthy. Sigh...

Hannah is strong in her own right - and so feisty! She fit right into the dynamics of the Miles Family. She is that cool girl you would love to have as a best friend. And the way she sees Leo - and everything she does for him, she is just perfection.

As always we get all the magic of the amazing Miles Family, which I love so much. And the added suspense in this book was the perfect amount and so wonderfully written.

I feel like there is more I could say about this book. I just loved it so much!! You will not regret reading this amazing book and the entire series if you haven’t already.

I cannot put into words how much this book touched my heart! I cannot put my finger on just one thing, it seemed to be the whole book, from start to finish!

Leo is an injured ex-soldier, he lives in a cottage on his family winery and rarely leaves his house. He has not stepped foot past the property boundaries since coming back broken and scarred!

Hannah is in a relationship that she doesn’t want to be in but can’t seem to get out of, she is scared and wants to move on, but how?

Leo and Hannah have one thing in common, they love gaming and become friends whilst playing with each other online. She tells him a lot, he tells her little. During a wedding reception at the winery Leo hears a voice he recognises, but knows he can’t approach her, mainly because she is with her boyfriend, but also because he doesn’t mix with people he doesn’t know!

Hannah is put in an impossible situation by her boyfriend so decides to leave, without thinking she ends up at the winery and in Leo’s cottage!

What follows is a truly wonderfully written story, of family love, protection and a closeness that few families have. Claire Kingsley has captured the torture that PTSD sufferers and those that love them go through perfectly, drawing the reader in with the pain that comes with it, but also the happiness that can be found when they find someone to love them unconditionally.

LEO! LEO! LEO! He was a mystery character throughout this series that I’ve wanted more and more from throughout the series and now that I’ve read his story, I still want more. That, in and of itself, should tell you how good this book really was.
Leo, is an injured Vet, who suffers from agoraphobia and PTSD. It is heartbreaking to read about this man, who I can clearly visualize in my imagination thanks to Claire’s words of description and I generally have a vague picture of book characters and not a specific picture in my mind. He is devastatingly beautiful inside and out!
Leo meets Gigz (aka Hannah) through online gaming. They have been online friends for years and he could pick out her voice anywhere, even in a crowd, as it has become the calm to his storm. What happens when he actually hears her voice in person? Or When she sees Leo (mystery man to her) in person?
Will Hannah and Leo both overcome their past?
This is a perfect blend of romance, suspense, family, friendship and love. We also, of course, get to revisit our favorite Miles family members (cough, cough…Cooper and his antics/advice/nicknames) and it makes we want to go back to the beginning and start all over again. Great Job Claire!!

OMG, Leo is my favorite Miles brother now!!! This book touched me in so many ways. To see Leo grow and step out of his comfort zones for Hannah was the most beautiful thing! Leo was so scarred, both physically and emotionally, that he closed himself off from society. He even closed himself off from his family to an extent. He hadn't left the winery grounds in 5 years - but the minute he knew Hannah needed him, he didn't hesitate to leave to get to her! Oh, my heart!!!

Leo is scarred from burns he received while serving his country in the Army overseas. He hasn't even told his family how the accident happened. When he tells Hannah, it's understandable why he hasn't spoken about it. It broke my heart for him. He suffers from PTSD, emotional distress, anxiety attacks, and not to mention the extensive scarring from the burns on the left side of his body. All of this has made him a recluse.

It was wonderful to watch Leo grow with Hannah in his life! He started leaving the winery more often and socializing with his family more. Now, he still had anxiety, but he was managing it better. And Hannah, I loved her!!! She was so patient with Leo and so loving! She also started to blossom into the woman she was meant to be the more time she was away from Jace!! And the chemistry between these 2 was really HOT!!!!! Lord, the pages almost burned my hands!!
