A dangerous and cruel dragon shifter is holding my sister hostage.

And I am going to kill him. With my bare hands, if I have to.

He wants to trade—Irena’s life, for mine.

For my freedom. For the ancient and deadly dragon magic I fused with when his cronies kicked me into a pit to die.

I came back from the dead, and I brought the fury of hell with me. Now, they’re running scared—as they should. All of them, except this guy.

As the cherry on this toxic pie, my mentor is hunting me, too. She’s using every skill she ever taught me to track me down and lock me away.

My mentor trained me to obey her, and she’s pissed that I won’t bow down to her anymore. Determined to drain my magic, Zurie wants to reprogram my brain with enough drugs to make me an obedient little assassin again.

It won’t happen. And the poor fool who hurts my sister—well, he’s in for an early grave.

Fate of Dragons is a full-length novel with a badass heroine, a riveting storyline, and an alternative relationship dynamic. Get ready for a heart-pounding story filled with a dragon shifter romance unlike anything you’ve read before.

I'm a little torn here in book 2 of this series. Honestly we did get some reveals, well some vague reveals in here and while there was no denying there was action I don't think I enjoyed this near as much as book 1. I feel like Rory really didn't get to shine much at all in this book and has started to be suffocated by the guys, Jace in particular.. or mostly Jace really. Also somewhere between book 1 and book 2 Rory has decided these guys are hers and noone is going to take them from her.. While I like most of the interactions with the guys, Jace excluded in this book, I'm a little confused how Rory went from fierce independent assassin to needing all these guys so much. Also, some of our males *cough Jace cough* aren't down for RH.. I'm not sure how that is going to affect this story but it always makes me uncomfortable when one of the harem isn't quite down to be part of a harem. It seems a little heartbreaking to have to share when you expected to have someone all your own.. Really brings the feel of an RH down a little.

I was expecting more here from book 2. Its almost like book 2 took a little bit of a sideline focusing on the relationships and Jace peeing on everything to mark his territory. I mean the main goal was still to get Irene back but it took the entire book and we still aren't any closer to really explaining Rory's newfound powers any more.. or what the reason she was gifted for. This book really bordered on being a filler.. I mean I don't think it was but it was close. I'm excited to really start moving forward now I hope and get some major reveals as well as finally find out how to save Levi.

Rory is back at the dojo/embassy trying to let Jace teach her how to use her magic when a new character comes forward claiming to have her sister. In order to get the antidote given to Irena, Rory will have to turn herself over to this new Vaer contact. Jace, Tucker and Drew counsel her to wait until they can put together a solid rescue plan instead. While they are doing that, some secrets about her guys get uncovered.

This book was a little more than just filler. Things definitely moved the plot along, but there was a bit of downtime while they waited for a plan, etc. I'm more hooked on these characters now than I was at the end of book one and I didn't take note of any writing issues this time, so they must have worked itself out. We got to know Tucker and Drew more in this book, but I really want to know Levi better. I'm hoping that the next book will be focused on him.

Lots of secrets

Jace was right to be wary of Rory's increasing powers, however he needs to stop underestimating her abilities. Levi is getting more feral everyday. It's nice to finally have some secrets finally aired out. Especially Drew's and Tucker's secrets. All of this drama pales in comparison to the secrets and lies that they all are navigating among their world. It seems like everyone is out to get them. I am hoping that they get allies soon. The Fairfax dragons can't take on the world after all.

Ugh Rory !!!!

I loved Tucker,Drew,Jace and Levi but in this book I absolutely disliked Rory and her hypocritical, thick headed, stubborn to the point of stupidity attitude.

I felt really bad for Jace and how much he had to put through for his mate. That guy is really a saint, with how he is always trying to curb his controlling over protective nature, while Rory doesn't even try to compromise. She keeps on whining about Jace's controlling stubborn nature but girl at least he tries to f*cking comprise unlike you!!! Both parties kept secrets and yet when Rory stumbles upon Jace's secrets she starts blowing a gasket.
At one point I thought that Jace would just say enough is enough and dump Rory's ungrateful, unreasonable ass but the guy is really a true mate and sticks to her. I mean yeah Jace's some demands were over the top, but woman for once stop being so selfish and try to understand where he is coming from. Rory was so busy trying to prove that she is headstrong and not a damsel that she ends up coming out as an illogical, obstinate woman. Half the time or you can say a majority of time Jace was right and within reasons but offcourse Rory like a mule just couldn't see past her strong personality. I love my fmcs strong and badass but not like Rory who won't even comprise or understand the other person's worries and concerns. Jace had flaws too no doubt, he had fears regarding his mate but atleast the guy was not insufferable and thick headed like the female. He should really get awards and accolades for tolerating Rory.

The story was nice, Levi worried me, but I still love that adorable guy. Tucker was awesome too with his goofy and kick-ass self. Drew's huge sacrifice made me love and respect him more.
Definitely gonna read the next one but if the fmc doesn't change her personality I am going to just skim over her arguments and illogical stubborn reasoning.

He took the fire

Oh book two was infinitely better. I love and hate the slow burn romance but I know to choose my battles. I really hope she can bring Levi back. I don't want her to lose anyone. And I'm impatiently waiting to hear the story the sister comes up with.

Good

Liked the book, but the Marcella/Jace I am equal, you will not sideline me, you will trust me, you will not keep secrets from me storyline dominated the book and not in a good way. Even more so because she came off as a bit of a hypocrite. Anyway the other thing that really bothered me is that they basically have the same backstory. Marcella and Irena made into assassins before they could even choose it. Tucker and Drew born into families that forced their life course. Jace’s dragon chose to mate bond when it was the last thing he wanted. Levi can’t break free of his dragon form because he’s feral. I wish there was more diversity in their back stories. As it it reads, everyone was forced into a life or circumstance they wouldn’t have chosen for themselves. Overall, it was a decent read, but after the first book I was just hoping for more.

Who's afraid of the big bad dojo master?

Rory has literally crawled out of a pit to survive. Chains melted into her skin, wonky new powers that point a giant arrow over her head and the fantastic new ability to blow up mountains (if she ever learns to control it), are all hers now. Lockdown at the dojo wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that others can still get in. People who have no business being there but are above repercussions. Lots of fun. At least Tucker's antics keep things light-hearted. Until his family history comes to light. Then the squabbling begins again amongst the guys. But his family isn't as bad as Drew's. And Levi is slipping further into his feral dragon every day. Holding things together is getting harder for Rory to do. Especially since the character holding Irena has finally played his hand. Distrust among the 5 of them is bad enough. But with this mysterious Ian trying to call the shots while dangling Irena as bait, they have to be able to work together. Zurie is still out there, hunting down her protege to "reeducate", the Knights are done listening to Tucker, Bosses are circling to either take her or her powers- whichever works best for them, and now she learns that this magic may actually give her a dragon form. Yay. Cause life isn't confusing enough right now, right?

Spoilers ahead.
This series keeps getting better. There's a lot of background juggling going on with the Spectres, the Knights, the various dragon Bosses or cartels, this mysterious infection killing Irena, mate bonds, powers, ... Making this a slow burn gives the readers a chance to absorb all of this without overloading. Which is a serious concern considering all that has been packed into these 2 books so far. And while some may want things pushed a bit faster with Jace and Levi, I think the pace is working well. Although, Levi is kind of getting left out a lot. Hopefully his "voice" comes back into play soon after the big tactical move played out in the end of this book. I don't want to see him lost. And Jace? He's learning. Seeing that Rory can balance things, hopefully he'll quit trying to control her. Granted, the thought of going immediately insane and being able to wipe out entire cities before he'll be able to be put down is a valid concern for her safety. But, shouldn't he be more concerned with making sure she can better defend herself with these new powers rather than trying to shut her in? She's already proven she's not rash. She saved Zurie before her own sister, even knowing Zurie might try to kill her. She's proven herself again and again on missions. On a side note, I feel like the original message given in the pit when she got her powers has been lost. And I still don't understand the chains melding with her lol.

The saga of Rory, Tucker, Jace, and Drew continues. More questions are answered. New questions revealed. And Rory adds to her "harem." So many enemies . How will Rory and her men ever be safe? What is her sister's fate? Will Rory and Jace ever get together and would Jace be willing to share?

While I'm enjoying this "reverse harem," I can't help but feel a bit hypocritical.

Why did you read this book?
I am slowly getting through a few RH series I put on hold.

What format did you read this book in?
Read it as an ebook on Kindle.

Is this an educational book or a book for entertainment?
I read this book for pure entertainment purposes.

What genres do you think this book belongs to?
Fantasy, Romance

What was your favorite part in the book? SPOILERS
When Jace transformed into a dragon and had to carry Tucker to the compound they were attacking. His joke about not wanting to be a damsel being taking away by a dragon made me laugh.

Who would you suggest this book to?
Anyone who likes strong heroine’s, fantasy adventures, and RH light on romance.

What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? SPOILERS
This book was action packed. It seemed like the MC could catch a break. The new main villain in this book likes to play mind games. (Which is my favorite type of villain btw.) I am glad that the MC stays true to her bad-ass self and doesn’t fall into the villain’s traps. With so many things revealed and they guys trying to save the MC sister before she dies… This book was a page turner. I loved how the MC outsmarted the Villain at the end and I am glad she got her sister back. Overall, this was an excellent book, and I am looking forward to the next one.

Are there any cliché scenes or concepts? (If yes, does the author add something unique to them?)
The main character ends up being the chosen one. The author adds her own flare to this troupe by forcing the special magic on the MC. Fated Mates, but the author makes the MC fight the attraction for their own good. Possessive and protective men, author show that the MC can take care of herself and is not damsel in destress.

How intense are the intimacy scenes?
The scenes are detailed with little to no kink.

At what “burn” level is the romance?
This series is at a medium-low burn.

Love interests, how many of them are there and what gender? Spoilers
There are four love interests, all of them male.
Jace- A powerful thunderbird dragon, MC fated mate, Boss of the Dojo.
Drew- A powerful red dragon.
Tucker- Son of the General of the Knights, Guns expert, Human.
Levi- A feral blue dragon.

Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? Sort of.

The back story... Continuation of story 1. She is now staying clear of her old mentor plus other dragons and the knights while trying to track down her sister.

The Romance... None

The drama explosion... Another battle sequence in which things again go wrong.
Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? Neither
Was it OTT? Yes
Separation involved? No
Was it resolved properly or rushed? Properly

Final Notes... I did like this book better than the first as the h finally begins to tone down her attitude at the 80% mark.

Issues for me.
1. The h just cannot stop talking, thinking and shouting have great and amazing she is
2. The internal dialog was a good 35% of this story.
3. The h acts like Rambo, the Terminator and Bruce Willis in describing her skills... All of the time.
4. A massive problem in which the h can duck under the camera feeds. Most security cams cover floor to ceiling views.
5. When firing her light weapon, sometimes it instantly dusts people while other times it moves so slowly that it can be ducked.
6. Jace is her fated mate yet she treats him horribly when he questions her desire to play the field yet she gets upset when others show interest in him.

Improvements over the first book
1. A bit less internal dialog.
2. Towards the end of the book, the h actually starts becoming truthful... mostly after her lies and omissions nearly get people killed.

HEA or HFN? Unknown

Rory takes part in a game of cat and mouse to save her sister, while battling multiple sides that want her captured or dead. Plot-wise, it was still an entertaining read. But I'd say this book is a low three star rating while the first is a high three stars- parts of this plot felt too much like a repeat of the first. Jace is overbearing so it leads to countless argues. You find out more about Drew and his story is pretty much a dragon version of Tucker. There's a Vaer bad guy messing with Rory that results in a massive infiltration and battle at their compound to rescue someone. I understand the objective is to save her sister, but replace Irene with Zurie and Ian with Mason and it's a bit too close to the first book.
Character-wise, still loving Rory though there wasn't too much development in this book. Tucker's still my favourite. I liked learning more about Drew, I just wish it was more than unique. I mean, Rory, Tucker and Drew pissing off their parental figures and giving up everything to be together. In a RH of 5 people, that's 3 will the same backstory. Jace's possessiveness is annoying me as much as it is Rory, though this book does explain the why a bit more; it's just the constant back and forth of saying she's capable and then asking her to stay behind on missions
Would I recommend it? The series as a whole so far, sure.
Will I be carrying on the series? I think so, my curiosity is too strong- what will Jace do to get her to commit? How will they turn Levi back? What will happen when Irene wakes up? How's the meeting with the Dragon Bosses going to go? What will the Spectres and Knights do to get their hands on Rory and Tucker? So many questions but so little patience if my guesses are better than the actual book.

The only reason I’m giving it two stars instead of one is I actually like the plot everything else is rough!

The female lead makes me want to punch someone. She waffles between a petulant toddler throwing tantrums and a horny preteen wanting to jump everything in site. She appears to have no self control around her “men”.

While I am extremely independent person she borders on self destructive with her independence. I get where the author was going based on her background to a point but after a while it just comes off as bullheaded stupidity thinking you know best about EVERYTHING. She apparently has no idea about what compromise is or how to do it (at least not till the book is almost over).

The male leads I find infinitely less annoying. Although two are overly stubborn at times. I get more as men often are. In the female leads shoes I probably would have punted two of the males repeatedly in junk quite a few times for their behavior regardless of the fact I loved them and that’s assuming I wouldn’t just walk away all together.

The over use of same phrases (this is not limited to this this book or series I’ve read another of her books with somewhat warmer feelings about the story by the end, but with similar complaints as well) it’s extremely off putting.

The person narrating was also annoying to me. The whole of the narration was slightly monotone with weird inflections. When she tried to depict emotion it just came off to me.

Okay, there may be a bit of hyperbole there, but this series that showed so much promise is quickly becoming a harem tale. *sigh*

I really liked the first book and jumped straight into this one after finishing the first. While I still enjoyed the main story line, it was nearly overshadowed by Rory's overactive hormones and what is quickly becoming her personal little harem. While it's explained in the story why Rory is the way she is, I'm just not that crazy about this aspect of it. I also wish the author owned a thesaurus so that certain phrases weren't quite so repetitive (the one that springs immediately to mind is "my traitorous body," which Rory repeats ad nauseum throughout the story).

Having unloaded my complaint, I will say that I still enjoyed the basic storyline and plan to finish this series. I actually like the rest of the cast of characters better than Rory herself, but that's probably because her inner monologue is a bit monotonous and she inherently thinks she knows more than those around her.

While the book maintains that young adult feel, it is definitely for 18+. If you haven't read book one yet, Reign of Dragons, I recommend reading it before this one for best enjoyment.

Yup!!!! I’m not giving a fuck about all my definitely serious obligations and I’m just going to start this book and yeah that’s it .

I smirk in victory and rip his flag in half with my teeth, winking as I shoot him a dashing smile. “Death,” he moans melodramatically. “The cold spear of Hades sails through my heart!” With one hand on his brow, he arches his back like a bad actor trying to land a leading role. “For I am betrayed by the woman I love! She has scorned me, ripped my soul in twain!” I chuckle and stand, stashing the torn flag in my back pocket as a victory token. “Drama queen.” “Betrayed,” he moans again, eyes shut as he really loses himself in his tragic little death scene. I laugh. “You’re such an idiot.”

Damn Tucker makes me laugh sooooo hard hahahaha this scene already made my future headache worth it .

Damn it I had written a lot more about this absolutely incredible book but the things wasn’t saved so yeah I could probably write again but come on I NEED to start the next book immediately so yeah that’s it sorry, not sorry.

The second book of the series is just as good as the first. Rory is still holed up at the Dojo trying to learn to control her magic and staying out of the way of her numerous enemies. It seems that everyone is keeping secrets and quite a few of them will be revealed. Tucker is still her bed buddy, and Jace is not happy that his mate is sleeping with someone else. Rory is still resisting her mate and doing her best to trust Drew enough to explore her feelings for him. She has to figure out how to get Levi to change back to his human form before he is gone forever. When she gets a message from the someone who claims to be holding her sister, she has to have the help of everyone if she has a chance of saving her without ending up becoming a prisoner of the Vaer. Lots of excitement and heart stopping action in this one. Can't wait to see who, I mean what, happens next.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Minor plot solved major plot still to go

There’s still so much left to do after finishing this book. An overall plot is still going while the minor plot of her relationships moves forward. The major plot about the dragons all being after her, I can feel like I know where things are going.

The big bad in this wasn’t so big bad, but I suspect the threats are going to increase and be more difficult. There weren’t as many typos as the previous book, so that was nice. Though some phrasings still cropped up and repeated.

Overall not bad, we move forward with Drew and Tucker though I’m concerned about Jace, we do learn more on that front. But Levi almost feels like an afterthought character at this time. Like he’s getting worse but we haven’t spent enough time with him. I need to see more.

Then we have this Bosses meeting still to do, and for Irena to maybe wake up, maybe have betrayed her… yea.

Upheaval and peril at every turn!

This fast-paced sequel finds Rory and her dudes struggling with internal and external factors, constantly. Rory gains confidence and ability, and potentially more, with her magic, and the guys. I love all the personalities, the conflicts, the Sparks. They all have to constantly work to build their team and their relationships. It's never easy but it's so worth it to see these hardcore men bow down to an even fiercer female! The story and the struggle move along seemlessly, and effortlessly drag readers along for the ride! It's hot and tension filled on all fronts! I can't get enough of this lady, these guys, this story, and world! So looking forward to more!

Great read!

Honestly Rory is a blast to read. She’s so damn feisty and dominant. I love her so much lol this book was so incredibly action packed. Just when you thought another wrench or curveball couldn’t be added to the situation...there was one. So many moving parts and yet everything worked together seamlessly. I love all these characters so much. Although Tucker and Levi are definitely my heart and soul. Jace gives me a headache but I suspect he’ll learn his lesson in book three because Rory will never obey any man. Have I mentioned I love her? Lol

Read this series! The world building and mythology in this story is so unique and you’ll find yourself wrapped up in the adventure and fantasy of it all.

Full Series Review (No Spoilers):

When I first started reading I absolutely loved this series. I fell in love with the characters and the world building. The spice levels were low, but growing as the story developed. FMC was strong and capable and the men were sexy and charismatic.

Then things slowed down. Spicy scenes faded to black and the story became predictable and repetitive. Once Rory built her family, the books switched from a romantic reverse harem fantasy to a YA fantasy that still had the main character in a reverse harem relationship. Zero RH scenes and the story was SUPER predictable.

I didn't end up finishing the series. Maybe I will one day, but it just didn't hold my interest anymore with my TBR ever growing. DNFed sometime during Queen of Dragons - book 7.

I decided that 2019 I was going to read as many new authors as I could. I chose this author because I loved the cover of her book, also she wrote about dragons. I was most definitely not disappointed. From page one I was hooked, the characters were mesmerising and their chemistry was awesome, the world building was amazing. Nothing about this book disappointed. I read it in one day I could not put it down. If you’d love a non-stop thrilling read then this is the one for you. Grab your self your copy, your cup of your favourite beverage, curl up in your favourite reading spot and enjoy. Highly recommend.

I didn't enjoy this book as much first. I still like Rory, and I appreciate how capable she is, but this book felt like a lot of filler. Not a whole lot happens, aside from her fighting with Jace and sitting around waiting for Jace and Drew to come forward with some kind of information about where her sister is. I wish there had been more progression with either her powers or her search for her sister. I did enjoy the way her relationship with Drew developed. I also feel for Levi. He's my favorite.

I do plan to continue the series, but I hope the next book has more substance.

just okay. nothing really happened.

I feel like nothing happened in this book. We find out Drew’s secret. That’s it, with the exception of the end. If the power was removed could they take it or would it be returned? Jace has a lot of Smoke for Tucker when Rory is worse. He’s just making an exception because she’s his mate. I like that there’s a new villain every book. Rory is very strong. I really like her as FMC. I didn’t agree that Ian has tortured her for so long. It’s been a week.

I do feel like Irena is going to disappoint her. I’m also concerned about Levi.

There were a few misspellings. This book is significantly shorter than the first.
