ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second novel from Dee, and she does not disappoint. Bodie and Suttons story was sweet and captivating, I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and their families. I would really love to see more from these guys, maybe even some spin-off stories, in the future.
I feel that Dee captured the essence of the rich/famous/royal world quite well, and dealing with the distance issues, coupled with the fame they both have, was all written quite well.
While this has a distinctly different feel from her first novel, Without Warning, Kismet is still a fantastic read, and I can't wait to see what Dee brings us next.
Kismet was a truly sweet romance. Other words to describe "kismet" are destiny or fate. This couple is definitely destined to meet. You know that from the very beginning. For me, their "meeting" was one of my favorite parts of the book. I loved the connection that Sutton and Bodie have. You very much find yourself pulling for them to make a solid go of it. It was an easy story with very little in the way of complications. I read it in one sitting. For me, it was quite reminiscent of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's romance (with a role reversal and some other differences of course). Naturally, I don't mind that at all as I think they have a beautiful love story.
Another winner in this book is the development of the secondary characters. Their family and friends are great! I just felt my heart filling up with all kinds of positivity as I read. Quite simply, sometimes it's nice to read a book where there isn't any added drama (at least not significant drama) where you just feel good while you are reading it.
"For the first time in my life, I don’t want someone to stop looking at me."
If you are looking for a light, feel good read, Kismet has all the bases covered. Although I found it mild, there was many things about the story I loved. One is the authors fantastic eye for details. No matter what Dee Lagasse is trying to describe to you, you can always easily picture it. This whole story I felt like I was right beside the characters. The attention to detail was off the charts. I was just as obsessed with the lions as the characters. I loved getting to read such a animal oriented book. As a animal lover it quickly won over a piece of my heart. Another thing this author is good about is connecting you with the characters. Each one Kismet introduced I couldn't help but like. Well minus maybe one or two but hey. They were all engaging and easy to read about. Plus any book that can combine sports romance and royal romance gets brownie points from me. Both troupes are ones that I really enjoy reading about. It does verge on a Insta love for me, but honestly it worked. It fit the story line and characters perfectly. Bodie and Sutton are absolutely adorable together. I couldn't get enough of them two. They had amazing chemistry and a even stronger friendship. I definitely found myself swooning over these two more than once. Even through the ups and downs, I never quit pulling for Bodie and Sutton. I sure hope to see more from these characters later on. Maybe even some family spin offs wink wink.
"And honestly, what chance did I have against kismet?"
Sutton is one of those sweet innocent heriones you can't help but love. She was a kind soul, with a spirit wise beyond her years. I couldn't help but admire the amount of compassion Sutton's character had. I loved even though she was totality, it didn't go to her head. I loved she was a hopeless romantic. Sutton had this way of bringing out your inner princess.
"Something tells me being here with Bodie is going to make this trip my new favorite."
Bodie is one the most romantic male characters I have read. Seriously this guy knew how to make a women swoon. I couldnt get enough of his charm. He just always knew the right things to say. He wore his heart on his sleeve and wasn't affraid to show hoe he felt. Plus what women doesn't love her a sexy baseball player.
*4 STARS* Well earned for a heart warming feel good read. The attention to detail, and engaging characters make for a captivating compassionate read.
Wow, Dee has done it again! She put together a well written and thought out story. This book was a sweet, heartwarming, feel-good romance. Dee can capture the scenery and characters as if you were right there living it with them.
Sutton and Bodie are both compelling characters; they know what they are looking for in life but get smacked in the face when they find each other. They both fall fast and hard, and distance and fame will be the only things that keep them apart.
Dee did a fantastic job of making you feel and understand how the royal live, and even how the famous live. There wasn’t anything I disliked about the book; it was genuine. This is such a sweet romance, not a whole lot of angst but just enough to get your heart pumping a little faster.
I enjoyed this cute but swoony story. Bodie and Sutton may not be your typical couple but it was full of romance and sweetness. An everyday fairytale. Bodie is an everyday gentleman and Sutton is an avergae girl with a very big title. This is totally different to her first novel Without Warning but is still a great read!
You cannot help but LOVE the characters in this story! They are all so down to Earth and downright real! If you’re looking for a feel good love story with a HEA, this is the book for you. I can’t wait to read more about these characters! You knocked this one of the park, Dee!
Kismet is Dee's second novel, and it's even better than the first, if that's even possible.
I'm not really into the whole royal family stuff. I usually try to avoid books that mention royalty at all. But Dee changed my mind. She blew me away.
Sutton may have a big title, but she's down to earth like any "normal" girl would be. She's definitely someone I'd love to be friends with. She's got a good head on her shoulders and a big heart that's she's not afraid to share.
Bodie is major book boyfriend material, making me swoon pretty much the entire time. He knows what he wants, and he goes after it. Even when obstacles threaten to take away what he wants, he just pushes harder. And i always love to see a man with a strong relationship with his family.
Their connection is instant and strong from the get go. I was seriously ready for them to just jump head first into an epic romance. Like from the second they met. But of course, we gotta give them a little time to get to know each other.
Dee is a wonderful writer, giving us strong characters (both main and side), amazing imagery, a plot that keeps you intrigued, and when it's all said and done, she has you begging for more.
I'm looking forward to what Dee has in store for us.
This is the first book I've finished in 1 sitting in a few years!!!!
Sutton and Brodie are soo swoony and perfect for each other, I absolutely freakin love them!!! Their story is sweet and romantic. If you're looking for that charming love story between the most perfect couple then Kismet is your book.
Brodie is the perfect gentleman and Sutton is the most down to earth Princess you'll ever encounter. This story gave me all the royal romantic feels (if that's even a thing?) I like a good 'royal' story like the next girl but Sutton and Bodie's story melted my heart multiple times. I felt like an outsider witnessing a true fairytale form before my very eyes.
Five stars is not nearly enough for this story but I guess it'll have to do.
I really enjoyed Kismet! I could imagine the story as a movie or TV show.
Bodie is a sweet, thoughtful, and funny guy. Sutton is not what you would expect from royalty. She cares a lot about others, supports causes she believes in by putting in hard work, and is very down to earth.
Their journey from meet cute to happily ever after isn't without a few bumps in the road, but there is minimal angst. The issues they run into felt appropriate for their situation and not contrived at all.
I loved all the secondary characters, especially Bodie and Sutton's families. It was so nice to see them both supported by those closest to them. I hope that a few of those characters get their stories told!
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Dee is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! I love that this story wasn’t focused on the sexy times, but instead the natural chemistry Between Bodie and Sutton. I absolutely loved Sutton. She is like a breath of fresh air. And Bodie...he is the perfect man! I loved them together.
Way to go Dee! Can’t wait to see what’s next!

I am in love! This book is a perfect story of Sutton and Bodie and their love and dedication to family and each other. They compliment each other so well. Danielle breathes some refreshing and new breathes into the air of romance. All of the characters from Sutton and Bo, to the supporting characters are developed so well, attention to detail was amazing, and the moments of suspense were perfectly placed.
This book was so hard to put down. From beginning to end, I wanted more of Sutton and Bodie, their love story and families. They were soulmates the second their eyes met and you felt it through each page. The love was so deep that it was so easy to fall in love with them! I loved reading about each butterfly flutter, each look, each kiss and even each tear because you wanted them together like they were your best friends! It truly was another fantastic book written by a great author!
I was very fortunate to receive an ARC for an honest review and let me tell you, this is definitely a 5 Star rating for me! Sutton and Bodie’s story is so well written and feels so real. You will fall in love with both of their characters. They feel so real and genuine! And Clementine, she is a real hoot! I would love to see her get her own book! Dee, you have seriously become one of my go to Authors that I will drop everything to read your books. I love all your words!
Danielle has written another winner. Kismet is the story of Sutton and Bodie with one of the best "meet-cutes". I loved this sweet, passionate love story. Their connection is instantaneous and pulls the reader in from the onset. As they navigate the trials that come with being together Bodie and Sutton find their way to HEA.
My only critiques are that I wanted it to be longer and Bodie should have been in pinstripes
Heartwarming read. This is a feel good book with loving and supportive characters. If you want a sweet read, this is it. Love Dee's writing! You can just imagine every place she describes and almost feel like you are right there seeing it for yourself. She highlighted characters with integrity, kindness, compassion, and true heart. I can't wait for the next book Dee writes.
This was a fun, easy going read. It felt like a Hallmark movie. Just a big, warm hug. Loved Sutton and Bodie and can't wait for more!! I loved Dee's effortless writing and style, especially the break down of all the royal things through Bodies perspective. Fun, light, swoony- this is a one click dream.
I am amazed with how much I liked this book. I couldn't put it down I fell in love with Brodie his first chapter. The relationship between him and Sutton is the perfect relationship I hope to find a love like theirs.
This book had moments where I cried and laughed as well as wished there was more. I wish Brodie and Suttons story will continue!
While going into this book my sole reason and purpose was because Dee Lagasse wrote it. I am neither a baseball or Royal family fan. But this book was beautiful!!! I adored it and am so glad I took the time to read it. It had a little bit laughter, a little bit of tears and just enough drama that it is still a "feel good" read. Great job Dee!!
I absolutely LOVED Kismet! The connection between Bodie and Sutton was undeniable. I laughed and loved right along with them. I couldn’t put it down because I just couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next! I felt like I was living all my royal dreams vicariously through them!
After a nonstop week promoting her new book to schools throughout Boston, all she wanted to do was spend a Friday night in her hotel room... eating chocolate and drinking wine.
Then her eyes met his...
Bodie Cambridge
Son. Brother. Hometown Hero.
After a whirlwind week celebrating a World Series win, the last thing he wanted to do was attend yet another event.
Until he heard her laugh...
Diving head, and heart, first into a seemingly picture perfect romance, it doesn’t take long for the world to fall in love with them too. An All-American baseball player winning the heart of a princess? It’s a modern day fairy-tale.
But as Sutton and Bodie settle into the idea of their happily ever after, ghosts from the past begin to haunt them. With their love, faith and trust on the line, Sutton and Bodie must choose to fight together or walk away and leave everything they’ve worked so hard to build behind.
Wow! Loved every page of Brodie and Sutton's story! The story was flawless and beautifully written. Can't wait to read the next installment!
Le sigh. This book was perfection, it really was. Sutton and Bodie have this almost chance encounter meeting. If it weren’t for other people pushing her to go to the charity event and for Bodie convincing his teammates to go, therefore being obligated to attend himself, they may not have met. But fate is a tricky thing and they would have ended up meeting somewhere else.
In this long distance, fast paced love story, we still see Sutton and Bodie struggle, but if I’m being honest I crave those happily ever after stories but I also know that no love story is perfect and every couple struggles.
In her royal family centered romance, Dee does not disappoint. If you’re a huge follower of the royal family then you’ll love this story, heck, even if you’re like me and only see what other people and tabloids say, this is the story for you. It’s cute, short and exactly what I needed.
Kismet is two of my favorite tropes; royals and baseball. Who would have thought you can mix these two tropes and get such an amazing love story. Bodie is a great guy; all-American baseball player, sweet, and gorgeous. Sutton is a princess but she is so down to earth and is beautiful both inside and out. Their story is a true modern day fairytale.
I had high hopes for this baseball, royal romance and Ms.Lagasse did not disappoint. This story was everything I’d hoped it would be and so much more. Bodie and Sutton had such a sweet connection. I loved the aspect of a normal guy meeting and falling in love with a princess. This book was packed with all of the feels. I loved this book and highly recommend it.
I absolutely loved Kismet by Dee Lagasse. This is a sweet sexy standalone. Bodie and Sutton are two very down to earth people that fall in love the moment they see each other. They both live two totally different lives but Bodie is determined to prove to Sutton that he isn't intimidated by her royal status. Will Sutton be able to see that Bodie loves her for who she is and not where she comes from?
I loved the connection between Bodie and Sutton. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. I can't wait to see what Dee is working on next!
Kismet was such a super cute light read! It was romantic and funny. It’s a royalty book that I really loved!
Sutton was so easily likable. Her character was perfectly written. Even though she’s a princess she wasn’t acting entitled or demanding. She was sweet and so down to earth.
Brodie was adorable. Cute and sweet himself. There was literally nothing wrong with the hometown hero. He was close to his family, loved by his town. Matching these two characters together was perfect. They made the best couple that fit together flawlessly!!
A royal romance, this was a great read. I loved Sutton and Bodie from the start and there chemistry was spot on. You will not regret grabbing this book. I couldn't put it down. Bodie is sweet and protective especially of those he loves. Sutton just wants to be seen as her, not the princess, Bodie sees her, just Sutton! I loved reading about the ups and downs that they overcome together. Grab this book.
This was an extremely sweet and lighthearted book. It reminded me of one of the movies I love to watch on the Hallmark channel. Bodie and Sutton’s fairytale has its ups and downs - as to be expected with the public eye always prying into royalty’s business. No hot and heavy scenes - just light kissing. I did not deeply connect with the characters- thus the 4 star rating but I did enjoy the book and finished in one day.
I fell so hard for this book. It was in love with Bodie and Sutton from the very beginning, I liked seeing 2 "famous" characters in their own eyes, down to earth and likable - reguardless what the media says about them. The story flowed very well and was a light, fun read. Being from the Boston area myself, I love reading about Boston characters and the Boston area, especially my beloved Red Sox! Dee did a great job w this book and Im excited to see what she does next!
I loved everything about this book! A royal romance that was so heart-warming and perfect.
A baseball player and a princess? Kudos Dee Lagasse you wrote a book that was original and oh so dang sweet. I laughed out loud, my heart raced, I smiled so much it was just a breath of fresh air.
Bodie and HRH Sutton will stick with me for some time!!
