As the battle against the invading aliens intensifies, a group of bad boy bikers and mercenaries will stand and fight for humanity’s survival…
Squad Three berserker Griff lived through hell long before the alien invasion. Once, he’d been a dedicated cop, but then in a gut-wrenching betrayal, he ended up behind bars in a supermax prison. Indy Bennett lost her parents and brother in the alien attack, and every day, she vows to suck the marrow out of life. She’s also doing her bit in the fight, as Squad Three’s comms officer, even if it means seeing the man who broke her young heart. Griff vows to claim Indy as his. The only problem is, Indy is having none of it. As their fiery attraction explodes, they find themselves embroiled in the hunt for the aliens’ unexplained octagon weapon, and a mysterious survivor town where all is not what it seems. Both Griff and Indy will have to learn to let go of the hurts of the past if they have any chance of not just surviving, but having a future.
Note to readers:This sci fi romance contains a lot of action (dangerous missions and deadly aliens), tough warriors (the badass berserkers of Squad Three) and a steamy romance (lots of sexy times between a bold comms officer and the berserker who once broke her heart ). So if you like it fast, and gritty, and sexy, this is for you!

I’m a USA Today bestselling romance author who’s passionate about fast-paced, emotion-filled romantic suspense and science-fiction romance. I love writing about people overcoming unbeatable odds and achieving seemingly impossible goals. I like to believe it’s possible for all of us to do the same.
I love hearing from readers and you can find me on Facebook, Instagram and my website: www.annahackett.com
This story features Griff one of the Berserkers and its a slight departure for the author. In previous books we've had couples meet up after the alien invasion who are strangers to each other and that's worked fine to show that even when life is turned upside down you never know just what might happen. I've enjoyed the fact that people who ordinarily would never cross paths have found happiness but this time it's a whole new tack . Griff grew up with Indy and she's his best friend's little sister so he's always known she's off limits and whilst it's not exactly a second chance romance in some ways it most certainly is time for some home truths. This couple are thrown together sometimes in spite of themselves but with life being so precious are they right to ignore what's right in front of them ? Maybe it's time to stop running away and finally grab hold of what they both really want ! Ok one word and that's chemistry ! I really liked Indy as she's not exactly a kick ass heroine but she's certainly no slouch . Griff made a lovely gruff alpha male but he had depths that allowed the author to flesh out his back story and add poignancy to the story that unfolded. Plus there's action, snark and developments of the overall Gizzida plot. There are not many bererkers left single now but I suspect the best is being kept for last ( Tane) and its clear that things are definitely coming to a head. This does work as a standalone but I truly believe you will enjoy it far more if you meet the rest of the characters first so I actually do recommend reading this hot and exciting series in order This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
At first I thought I won’t read this but then, Alas I needed another of these ‘berserker falling madly in love’ story. As usually the action, the planning, the attack and the romance all so good. Recommended.
This series has become repetitive, but I still like it. Mostly because I want to know how will they defeat the Gizzida! Or... will they? The love stories are what is repetitive, but the action parts are inetersting! :)
Shew! Griff and Indy were hot! I love a woman who has a sense of self and is a strong believer in herself, and Indy is definitely one of those.
Griff has a rough past to overcome after being betrayed by a fellow cop who set him up and sent him "down the river". After escaping a supermax prison, during the invasion, he eventually ended up at Blue Mountain base where he joined forces with the other soldiers, and to his disbelief also found Indy. Indy was the little sister of his best friend and he'd sworn off her, due to her age and his friendship with her brother.
Indy was stranded in Australia when the invasion began, and quite shocked to run into the man who'd denied her 10 years previously. She winds up acting as Squad Three's com officer and is thrown into extremely frequent contact with Griff. She does her best to look through him and tolerate him but wants absolutely nothing else to do with him. She doesn't want her heart broken by him again.
So, here's where we readers pick up the story. Griff has spent the past year trying to get through to Indy, and Indy does her level best to avoid him. Griff is done waiting. He wants Indy and he's going to convince her they belong together.
We've got new and improved aliens to battle and the ultimate weapon to destroy before the Gizzida make their final push to destroy what's left of humanity.
Anither fantastic action packed romance by Anna Hackett!
Griff thought his life was all but over when he was convicted a crime he didn't commit and remanded to a super max prison with a life sentence. Being in law enforcement, he had a target on his back making his life sentence a probably short one.
It all changed when the reptilian dinosaur aliens invaded and Griff was able to leave the prison and join up with others who are fighting to save Earth.
Indy Bennett is Squad Three’s comms officer, a team of badass berserker bikers who are crazy enough to do whatever it takes to accomplish their missions.
One of the berserkers and Indy have history. Having grown up as Giff's BFF's baby sister, Giff never realized that she's loved him forever but he's never returned her feelings breaking her heart.
Now adults, Giff is starting to realize that times are different and he can claim what he's always wanted. Indy.

This is the 17th installment in a long drawn out battle for Earth which doesn't seem to see the good guys winning. Holding their own and surviving yes, but never making a dent in eradicating those ugly ass aliens. Though each installment has value, I'm pretty much ready resigned to the fact the author doesn't have a plan for it to end and thus more to come. Thane and Selena are next up.
I will say that this is one of the better reads in recent times but without a real gut wrenching story line. Maybe it's a start to the author going in a different direction or maybe a pause in the ongoing battle?
My issues are that this story did bring flashbacks of Marcus with a few variations. Overall though it did shine on it's own merits so it just could be coincidence.
Enjoyed this story though the lack of progress in the ongoing alien fight is getting irritating. Please oh please Ms Author change up the ongoing plot to whop some alien butts.
I’ve so missed the Hell Squad series and ‘Griff’ is a return to something that has been a lengthy absence in Anna Hackett’s post-apocalyptic world for quite a long time. It’s back to alien-squashing, living to fight yet another day as the squads do battle against bug-ugly, dinosaur-like invaders.
What I liked was the slow expansion of the universe yet again, the insertion of a slightly different sub-plot here and I do sort of scent the end of the series coming, or at least, one that closes out this huge arc that started 17 books ago, though the potential for spin-offs or side-stories is near limitless.
With Griff and Indy however...
The brother’s best-friend trope has always made me raise my brows a little in any case. Why would there be a so-called bro-code of never going after the sister unless your best friend’s an arse of massive proportions, which then would lead me to question why you’d even have such an arse for a best friend. But if you’re a standup, good bloke, then the bro-code wouldn’t be an issue at all, would it?
Indy and Griff sort of fitted into this pattern from the start and while Hackett did write a love-hate sort of relationship with Indy pushing Griff away after his initial rejection, the question of why Griff decided that he wanted Indy only now, when he didn’t do a thing about it (and even was engaged to someone else) for the past decade at all went unaddressed. Still, their romance, the secrets Griff hid and their heavy pasts did feel somewhat glossed over in favour of the instant lust/sex, and because an alien invasion and getting injured in the line of duty apparently seemed to trump every rejection and feelings of resentment built up over the years. There was more of a story there or at least, should have been more of a story there that I felt could have been told.
Still, I can’t say I regret the action and the suspense, particularly now so that the endgame seems to loom ever nearer. Griff and Indy weren’t as quite unique a pairing as some of the others that Hackett has written, but as far as the build-up of what felt like a coming final battle, that’s got me already clenching in anticipation.
This is going to be a mixed feelings review, because my feelings about Griff are very mixed. Or rather, my feelings about the Hell Squad series in general and Griff’s relationship with Indy in particular are more than a bit mixed.
And I’m feeling conflicted because my feelings about this author’s work usually fall much higher on the “like to love” range, and this one just didn’t work for me. So there’s a bit of sad there as well.
Griff is the OMG 17th book in the Hell Squad series. The setup is post-apocalyptic, with the apocalypse being very specific and extremely recent. A race of alien-dinosaur-raptor hybrids have invaded a very near future Earth and wrecked the joint.
The Gizzida initially came to strip the planet and take all its resources, including the humans. There’s more than a bit of Borg in the Gizzida as they don’t merely wipe out the populations of the planets they invade, they use genetic engineering to convert both the human and animal populations into more of themselves.
The series follows one group of human survivors. This particular bunch were in Australia when the Gizzida took over (most but not all are Aussies), holed up in a remote military installation and have been sticking it to the Gizzida as much and as often as they can in some rather effective guerrilla warfare.
As the series has progressed, key members of the population of “The Enclave” have managed to grab their bit of happiness in spite of the destruction all around them. Life really does go on.
This particular story features Griff Callan, a member of one of the squads that brings that guerrilla warfare to the Gizzida, and Indy Bennett, the communications officer for his squad. Griff and Indy knew each other before the disaster. Her brother was his best friend until their relationship went seriously pear-shaped long before the aliens invaded.
They’ve always loved each other, but have never been in a place where they could admit it. They grew up together, but Indy was just younger enough to have made any possibility of romance seriously skeevy. And once she was old enough, well, there was that whole “bro code” that makes your best friend’s little sister untouchable – no matter how much she wants to be touched.
Which doesn’t mean that Griff didn’t break her heart with his refusal. And he’s scared he’ll break it again before they have any chance at all.
But it’s a chance he’s finally willing to take. If the aliens don’t take them both out first.
Escape Rating C+: Whenever I see a character named Indiana I hear Sean Connery’s voice from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade complaining to his son Indy, “We named the dog Indiana.” Clearly at least one of Indy Bennett’s parents was a fan.
Speaking of fans, while I am definitely a fan of this author’s work, I was not a fan of this particular story. I love the premise of this series, so if you like post-apocalyptic where the heroes get to stick it to the ones who brought that apocalypse, the series is generally a blast. The first book is wrapped around the romance between the leader of the Hell Squad (Marcus) and HIS communications officer.
And thereby sits a chunk of why I have such mixed feelings about this particular entry. It’s not that there ARE patterns in the stories, because all stories of all types follow patterns. It’s that the specific patterns used in this series repeat themselves, and over 17 books those repeats are becoming a bit too obvious for this reader.
I fully recognize that those very same patterns are what make many people love this series – no matter how long it goes.
The story here, and frequently throughout the series, is that the couple in question finally acknowledge both that life in the Enclave with the Gizzida sniping at them is WAY too short, and that they have feelings for the other person that they have refused to acknowledge because one party, usually the male, thinks he’s not good enough for the female. Although that’s been reversed a couple of times and I’ve liked those better.
In this particular case, the reason that Griff is certain Indy won’t want to be with him is pretty damning, but it was also obvious from the get-go. And it felt like she got over it way too fast considering how important it was. (I’m trying not to give it away.)
After the couple finally acknowledges their feelings, they face a situation where the female has to go into battle with the squad, and she is either captured or nearly so. The male has to ride to the rescue, incurring life threatening injuries. They forgive whatever caused any tension between them during his recovery and then live happily for now.
This series really can’t include a happily ever after, not because of the internal dynamics of the couples in each story, but because the Gizzida make any “ever after” extremely tenuous at the moment.
In the case of this particular story, the scenes where Griff finally declares his intentions involve him carrying her out of meetings in a fireman’s carry, with her protesting all the way. It felt like his need to mark his territory was more important than her need to be professional and part of the team that is, after all, trying to save the world.
I felt it took away from her agency. YMMV.
My other issue with the series as a whole is that it’s just taking too long for the Enclave and their allies around the world to kick the Gizzida off our Earth. Ironically, it hasn’t been all THAT long within the scope of this world, but 17 is a lot of books. There’s been some progress towards their overall goal, but I’ve become impatient waiting for it to finally happen. And that’s affecting my enjoyment of the individual series entries at this point.
That being said, I still love Anna Hackett’s writing, and I’m eagerly anticipating her next book, Heart of Eon. I found her first in her space opera SFR, and it’s still where I love her best. Not that the Galactic Gladiators haven’t also carved out a piece of my heart – but I’ll have to wait longer to get back to Kor Magna.
I loved this book. The Hell Squad 3 is always ready to hit back at the Gizzida. Griff in his berserker rage is unstoppable. When he sets his sights on Indy the fireworks are mesmerizing. The progress of the relationship was full and snark, payback and hotness. Selena creates so much mystery. Awesome read and I highly recommend it.
Series: Hell Squad #17 Rating: 4 stars - It was really good
Squad Three Berserker Griff has lived through hell. Formerly a cop, he was betrayed and spent time in a supermax prison. He learned to trust no one. Once he escapes he finds that not all of his past is gone, his best friend's little sister is still alive and is now their comms officer. Indy Bennett lost her whole family during the invasion. Now she is focused on helping take them down by being the comms officer for Squad Three, even if it means dealing with the man who broke her young heart. Griff has finally made a move for Indy after all these years, but she wants nothing to do with it. While fighting the Gizzida these two have to learn how to let go of the past to have a future together.
Griff has been an interesting character throughout the series. He is an ex-cop who was in prison but we don’t know the circumstances until now. Griff is filled with a lot of anger and rage for what happened to him. He was betrayed by people he trusted and now feels like he can’t trust anyone. While he has wanted Indy for years he has pushed his feelings aside but watching his fellow squad members fall pushes him to give them a chance. I love that Indy doesn’t give in to Griff right away. He hurt her badly and she doesn’t feel that she can trust him anymore. It takes a lot of work, for both of them, to break through their past and actually have a relationship.
Indy is a strong, beautiful woman who doesn’t take any shit. I quite like her. She doesn’t let any of the berserkers push her around, especially Griff. I love that the squad treats her like a little sister. She is determined to live her life to the fullest, with or without Griff. She does Griff a chance but she doesn’t make it easy on him, which is just what he needed.
Overall this was a great action packed addition to the series and I am still loving all the Berserkers. I cannot wait to see Dom and Tane fall.
Indy was a brassy, bold, “take what I want” -kinda character, and I admire that so much. Sometimes I wish I could be that “live in the moment”- kinda person, but this gal is an over-thinker so that ain’t gonna happen😂 That being said, I also don’t really connect with FMC characters that are so bold and loud, so I struggled a tiny bit with getting in Indy’s head.
I also called the twist out very early, so it didn’t come to me as a surprise. I love Dom & Griff’s friendship. I love the Berserkers and their banter.
I have been reading this series for years and it’s a comfort read to me. It’s also taking me forever because I really don’t want to see them go.
Read: 27/08/2023 1st rating: 4 stars Genre/tropes: Action/suspense/romance/alien/invasion Cover: 3 stars POV’s: Dual - 3rd person - (Indy&Griff) Will I recommend: Yes
GRIFF is bk 17 in Anna Hackett’s Dystopian Hell Squad series. I purchased and listened to the audio version performed by Samantha Cook and Jeffrey Kafer.
MY RATING GUIDE: 4 Stars. I enjoyed GRIFF (an “Unlikely Hero” and Best Friends’ Little Sister story). It read extremely fast, includes a HEA while building tension for the series conclusion. 1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= This was okay/cute; 3.5= I enjoyed it; 4= I liked it a lot; 5= I Loved it, it was great! (I seldom give 5 Stars).
Enclave Survivor Base, 2+years after the Alien Invasion of Earth ~
Griff is a former cop who was betrayed by another cop, imprisoned and served time for a crime he did not commit. Since the alien invasion, Griff joined and has been a reticent Squad 3 member, one of the Beserkers, the wildest of the squads fighting against the aliens. Squad 3’s Comm Officer is Indy, another survivor and Griff’s childhood friend’s little sister. Griff has always treated Indy as his own sister even though he’s cared much more. Now with human survival literally hanging in the balance, Griff decides to go after the woman he has loved for so long. Meanwhile the aliens continue their own plans for the mass destruction of mankind.
Comments ~ 1) The last group of titles (bks 13-20) follow the Beserker team members (one of 3 squads featured in Hell Squad). The language in these books tends to be rougher than earlier books (especially those which featured the tech and medical personnel). 2) The writing in the latter books in the Hell Squad series remind me of serials in a mini-series or individual episodes in a television series - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Readers should be advised that the series’ story arc builds in tension with each book which won’t be completed until the last book in the series. Each book adds to the overall storyline and either new characters or people previously introduced are featured, each with their own complete HEA. I am finding the series an enjoyable journey. 3) GRIFF is a dystopian-fantasy novel. Readers who are willing to let go of reality, logical thinking, scientific facts and just settle in for the ride will find the most enjoyment in this series. 4) The Hell Squad books are very fast reading (GRIFF was about a 3.5-4 hr audio at my listening speed), great for a few hours of escape or for decompressing after work. 5) Although GRIFF might be read as a standalone title, I really don’t recommend it at this point. GRIFF is the 17th book in a 20 bk series with an ongoing story arc. A lot of continuity and character development will be missed starting with GRIFF. I prefer reading Anna Hackett’s series starting with book one and continuing through the series in order. 6) I thought the reading by Kafer and Cook was very well done. Throughout this series they have been challenged with various accents (Russian and English), as well as steamy intimacy scenes, which must have been “fun” for them. ;) I purchased nearly the entire audio series when they went on Sale. The others I purchased in E format.
READER CAUTION ~ Not recommended to YA readers or those who prefer Clean fiction. PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language is used frequently. VIOLENCE - PG. Aliens vs humans. SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. Quite! Detailed steamy scenes occur between the MCs several times.
Things just getting crazier for the survivors of the alien invasion. Now those crafty aliens are actively working to undermine the security the Enclave is trying to provide for the survivors and that's baaadddddd news.
Really, everything the Gizzida do is bad news, so this is nothing new.
Anywho. Griff and Indy. He's got some baggage from the betrayal that destroyed his world before the invasion. She's been harboring feelings for him since forever. Did I mention the guy broke her heart in the before. BUT...things are different now. Everybody's lost someone and the survivors have to grab onto whatever happiness they can when they can.
So Griff and Indy slide into a relationship. An explosive relationship. It's great. Fighting is like their foreplay. They have sparks. They have sexy times.
The overall arc is moving forward. The survivors are starting to piece together what the aliens have planned for their endgame and...it's not good. The survivors aren't going to quit, though, so things are about to get interesting.
Action is clean, love scenes are hot, the plot is fast and lots of things explode. Squad Three gets up to some pretty crazy antics. I love this series.
This book, however, didn't feel unique to me. The feelings and interactions all have been used before in this series. Additionally, a few things confused me: Indy is referred to as a wild girl, but I don't really see any evidence of that. Also, Griff is keeping a big secret, and I think its reveal didn't have the impact it could have because I think Indy just accepted and processed it so quickly. Anyone could die any day, but I would still have a hard time accepting the information he gave her.
HELL SQUAD has become one of my favorite series to read and I was so happy to be back with all these characters. Anna Hackett knows how to deliver an action packed, sexy romance and GRIFF is no exception. The surviving humans at the Enclave are still working to defeat the Gizzida aliens by discovering and destroying their new mystery weapon. I really liked that this included some more of the post-apocalyptic human element through a small settlement of survivors that the team encounters. This really added a new depth to the world building that Hackett has done so far.
I've been intrigued by Griff from early on because all we really knew about him was that he was a cop and an ex-con. Intriguing! Because of his past experience, Griff has a lot of anger and rage that he works through by killing aliens. He's also still dealing with the pain of being betrayed by someone he trusted and this resonates in Griff's thoughts and actions. Griff has known Indy for many years; before she was just his friend's annoying little sister, but as she grew up he found himself attracted to her. He's ready to go all in with Indy if only he can convince her to give him a chance. At the same time, Griff has secrets about how he ended up in prison and he's not sure his relationship with Indy can survive those secrets coming out.
Indy was wonderfully wild and opinionated and not afraid to live life. As a young woman she made a pass at her older brother's best friend but Griff turned her down. I really appreciated that Indy didn't wallow in this rejection and instead went out there and lived her best life. I loved Indy's personality and her inner fire; she doesn't worry about regrets and instead just lives her life and keeps going. She makes Griff work for her attention and I just loved her!
It definitely feels like this series is winding down and I'm both excited to see what happens but also sad to see the end.

“I’ve loved you like a sister, as a friend, but now what I’m talking about is loving you as a woman,” he said. “Loving you in every way possible.”
Anna Hackett does it again! Hanging on the edge of my seat the whole way through. Couldn’t put this book down until I was finished! Can’t wait for the next book in this series and all the other series! No matter how many books or what series I read by Anna Hackett I’m always left with the same feeling.... how long until the next book! If you haven’t read one of her books your missing out! I dare you to try just one and not get hooked!!!!
We finally get to Griff and learn that even though he is an ex-cop and ex-jailbird, he is still 10% hero and 100% irritating where Indy is concerned!
Griff had to put Indy on his "No Go" list when she grew from his best friends little sister into the stunning, carefree and sexy woman that she is. But the reasons for him going to prison no longer exist and now he has find a new calling working with the beserkers. And he never thought that his new best friend would be an Ex-Mafia Enforcer!
Indy has crushed on Griff for years. She tried to get him interested in her once but he shot her down. But she just can't seem to get him out of her system, she is even his teams Comms Officer. But try as she might, Griff just keeps putting up walls between them - distancing himself from her. But she knows that something is eating him up inside but will she be ready for the bombshell revelation when it's dropped?
Good Grief, Indy is an artist, tattooist, former nightclub manager and all around badass! She may be non military/law enforcement but she cares for her team and will go to hell and drag them back if she has to! Griff's revelation, I actually called it before it came! Go Me!! His character may be gruff, but he is actually a really great male! He'll do anything he can to keep Indy safe, even deny their attraction and he doesn't want to explore his time in prison with her, he knows that could send her down a dark path.
The berserkers are falling at a fast clip, it seems the nuttier you are, the faster you fall!
As a fan of science fiction I find this disappointing, the plot has some major holes in it that show an insulting lack of thought. If Sci-fi doesn’t need to be scientifically accurate, at least it requires a certain amount of vision that this work absolutely lacks.
I find this series ridiculous, the first one wasn’t that bad, I even thought it would get better with the second one but is always more of the same fake and manipulated plot. I wasn’t surprised by anything in this book, not even the “big” revelation (it was quite obvious).
The romance is okay but very plain, boring and predictable. I can’t even say I read this for it.
I applaud the lack of typos and grammar mistakes, it has smooth and clean sentences, and it’s easy to read due to a correct use of punctuation. However, the writing style gets boring and a bit tedious.
I read this series last year when I had nothing else to do/read, and decided to check this one out because the general plot entertains me in the way fail videos do, I want to know how they save earth (since it’s a given they will, because the story has no depth to it) and get annoyed by the absolute lack of creativity.
It’s a way to pass an evening, better than doing nothing 🤷🏼♀️
Giff is a member of Squad Three otherwise known as the Berserkers who are defending what is left of humanity after the lizard like aliens called the Gizzida invaded Earth. The Enclave is a hidden base in the Blue Mountains of Australia where the Squads along with the civilians they have rescued. Giff used to be a police detective but ended up in prison before the invasion for a crime he did not commit. Indy Bennett is the communication officer for Squad Three and she and Giff have known each other for years since she was young. Indy has not forgiven him for breaking her heart when she was twenty and he told her her feelings where not returned because he loved her like a sister. Now they are both working in The Enclave Giff can finally tell Indy that he has always been attracted to her and she is no longer too young for him. Indy is not impressed. Things change when Giff is injured on a mission and Indy must face the fact she is still attracted to him. Giff is determined to pursue Indy despite her objections. The Grizzida are trying to take down all the remaining bases and there are more survivors to rescue. Thank you to Anna Hackett for the review copy. I also ought another copy for my library. Totally enjoyable series.
Anna Hackett never fails to amaze me. This story was no exception. With the Gizzida threatening mankind with the octagon, another of their secret weapons, and communities betraying their own. How can love and second chances blossom in this alien apocalyptic world. But it does. It takes two strong individuals, part of Team Three, otherwise known as the Berserkers to make love in the midst of war. Read this nail biting story which had me up all night!! I just could not go to sleep until the end! What a rush! Thank goodness I am retired. Added to this ok incredible action, we see the growing fascination Tane, leader of Team Three, has for Selena, the alien female taken from another planet. Her special gifts have proved useful in the past and may do again. I look forward to seeing what happens between these two characters. Then there's Dom. Quiet, secretive, ex-Mafia. He too had his demons. I cannot wait to see how he meets the lady who will rule his heart. Dear Anna, although I want the Gizzida gone, I just love the stories and the characters so want these takes to go on forever. But that would not be fair on the characters. They want and deserve peace on Earth.
Griffin (Griff) Callan is one tough Berserker. This former Police Detective was framed for a murder and spent several years in a maximum-security prison, and all the rumors about how horrible it is for a COP in prison are true. During the invasion, Griff managed to escape. Now he fights the aliens with his team. Indiana (Indy) Bennett survived the invasion and safely reached the base. Indy and Griff were raised together, Griff being her brother's best friend. Indy had the hots for Griff as a teen, but he rudely rebuffed her attention. Indy was a wild, fun-loving teen, and still is. Griff was a serious boy who only wanted to be a cop, but his life changed when a fellow cop betrayed him. Now, Griff takes out his anger on the aliens. He’s a changed man, has a cold heart, and doesn’t fear death anymore. Indy is the comms officer for squad three, the Berserkers, so she has to interact with Griff. She hates that because she still has feelings for him. Griff has feelings for Indy but feels that he is too old and damaged for her, until they are thrown into a dangerous mission and realize time is running out for humans and them. I am rereading the Hell Squad series and love every incredible story. Linda

Selena aids in their hot extraction and Tane holds her after she heals Griff. I am looking forward to reading Tane’s book.

Having been betrayed and with his life destroyed in the worst way possible, Griff was still struggling with ire and desperation. The berserkers were known for their wilderness and risky ways but, Griff was too much. Could the woman who had filled his mind and his heart help him to chase away his demons? Indy had been rejected before but now she was willing to fight for a second chance. Would they discover Gizzida’s secret weapon on time to have a tomorrow? Liked the detailed descriptions and narrations that make me visualize the exciting adventures and feel strong emotions while reading. The fights were intense, the drama strong and the characters full of passion and emotions. Fast paced, good suspense, surprises, violence against the evil Gizzida, interesting technology, romance and passion. Waiting for the ex-mobster story. Think it will be juicy.
This was the first series I began when I started reading Anna Hackett and it really is my favorite. Each book is like reading about old friends that I've come to love, admire and respect. What am I going to do if she ever decides to end it. Griff so tortured by his past and the alien invasion and Indy good, tough and filled with doubts about the past and her own worth. They grew up loving Each other as friends and then the whole world went to hell! Years later amid the death and destruction they find one another again and their attraction turns into an all consuming passion. This is the story of their love unfurling amid the dangers, and the threat of total human destruction. And now I have to wait until June for Dom's story noooooooooo!😉💖💖💖💖💖 I can't wait
Hell Squad continues with Griff and Indy's story. Griff was a cop, a good cop, worngly convicted before the Gizzida invasion. He left behind his best friend, Gareth, and the girl he couldn't have, Gareth's little sister, Indy. His time in gaol changed everything. He survived the invasion and his best friend didn't. Indy found safe haven with the survivors at Blue Mountain. Griff found a place with the Berserker bikers that formed Squad Three. Indy had crushed on Griff since she was a kid and she still wants Griff who has never returned her affections. When Indy takes on a solo mission, Griff has to face his feelings for her. Providing back up for Indy's mission forces Griff to understand the feelings Indy has every time Griff puts his life on the line.
Hell Squad book 17. Griff and Indy. Brilliantly written. Griff is an ex-cop, ex-con, alphahole badass in the Berserker squad. Indy is the wild child top comms chick in the Berserker squad. They have known each other since childhood. He was her brother's BFF and her secret crush. However, some crazy bro rule kept it from going further when they got older. He broke her heart. Not to mention some really bad situation during his career as a cop. Now as they battle the aliens there is nothing but space and opportunity for them to get together. It's not that easy for them as their connected past has a secret and a tight hold on them. This story takes you there. So sexy, twisty, WTF turns, hella angsty, dramatic and hopeful. Loved every second of this book.
This is a good brothers best friend/best friends little sister to lovers story. Indy lost her brother in the invasion and Griff lost his best friend. Indy loved Griff since she was able to feel love. But Griff shut it down because she was his best friends sister. It broke Indys heart. Now Indy is the Comms officer squad three, the beserkers. and she has to hear and see Griff every day. Before the Invasion Griff was arrested and thrown in jail for a crime he didn't commit. A crime he was set up for by someone he though he could trust. He broke out during the invasion and now hes a beserker. In prison he had been through a lot, an excop in prison with people he had to put away. Now he's fighting the aliens and he has to see the woman whose heart he broke every day. the woman he's always wanted but couldn't have. They find survivors, but it seems as if the aliens and them may be working together. Indy volunteers to go in undercover to figure things out. They need to find the bomb and figure out what these people know.

This KU library selection and fantastic addition to the Hell Squad series can standalone within the framework of the post apocalyptic world that follows an alien invasion. Pockets of human survivors have banded together for survival and to fight against the invaders. One of those is the Enclave outside Sydney Australia. Griff Callan is a berserker on Squad Three. He's a former cop and felon, having served time for drugs and murder after being set up by another cop. He's known Indy Bennett since childhood, but she was off limits since she was his best friend's little sister. Now the only barriers are in their heads, which are often the most insurmountable of all
This one was smoking hot. I think my Kindle may be a lil torched. Indy was the girl next door and Griff's Best Friends Lil Sister. And anyone who knows anything knows you don't mess with Lil Sister!. Griff's secrets threaten to ruin everything, including what could be his future. Meanwhile those Evil Alien Terrorists are trying to hatch a plan to stomp out the last of three human population. Will they succeed? Will Griff let his Demons loose? All these questions are answered. A swoon and a squee and an ohmahgawd I cannot wait are included at no extra charge.
