Spin has an inherited disease that make him allergic to sunlight.
So it is not surprising that he get bullied at school and being called a vampire.
He has some friends who can talk to spider, insects and animals.
Spin also suffered from low blood count and had to be hospitalised often. During the hospital stay, he know about kids who has died within days of each other.
He got suspicious and started to investigate the death.
The story is pretty good and advantageous. It seems a little dark at time and there’s were tensions and plots twists.
4 stars read. Filling the square of Creepy Crawlies for Halloween bingo.
I had initially given it four stars, 4.5 at most, but nah thinking back on it I think this one was my favorite of the series so far - finished it in just three days, which for me is pretty fast. And why not? I mean, it's centered around Spin! Even though the element of mystery surrounding him has been removed as we finally get his full back story and I was a little disappointed to learn the truth about him, he's still a really entertaining character and it was great to see more of him. This book is also darker and creepier than even the previous two installments, and I always like mysteries involving missing kids and shady hospitals. The danger feels very real this time around, as the protagonists face off against something that, honestly, is a lot scarier than monsters or aliens from another planet - adults with no empathy. The ending might've felt a bit like a copout, but I never let an ending affect my opinion of a book overall, and I'm glad that things mostly turned out alright for the main characters. Seriously, why is this series not more well-known? I'd bet if it had been a comic or an animated series it would've gotten quite a following.
Okay this doesn't quite count as a review since this is my third time reading this book but it's genuinely my favourite book from my favourite series, the characters are great and the plot is great I love how Ali brings attention to EPP <3 Honestly I wan to be saved by otters I LOVE VELMA AND HER CUBS I aspire to be like Spin icl I need a little bird friend like Lucky she's so sweet Great plotline, such an underrated book and series honestly, developed and complicated antagonists and protagonists, would make such a great TV series seriously, it falls under so many genres that literally anyone could enjoy this
