At a charity auction, spoiled rich girl Nellie Larkin mistakenly wins a date with the only cowboy who seems immune to her charms. Unfortunately, he'll have to do. She needs a fake boyfriend, pronto, to appease her ailing Gram.
Of all things Dax Ellison can't stand, it's a heart-breaker who thinks she can crook her finger and make a cowboy come a-runnin'. Like he did once, but never again. When a mix-up forces Nellie to be his fake girlfriend, he decides to teach her a lesson...by giving her a dose of her own medicine.
As one fake date leads to another, however, their plans go awry. Will her pride allow her to bid for his love? And will he let his heart go once...twice... sold?
A sweet love story in the Riverdale Ranch Romance series. Each novel has an HEA but it's recommended you read them in this order.
1. A Cowboy for Christmas (Bram & Stella) 2. A Cowboy for Auction (Dax & Nellie) 3. A Cowboy's Love Song (Tammy & Jeremy)

Talk about a couple that have so much miscommunication going on that they nearly missed out on an amazing love story. It all started with a charity auction. A rich girl, who just wants to make her grams happy, and a case of mistaken identity due to too much pride about neededing to wear her glasses and her going in without them. And a cowboy that she doesn’t get along with. What could possibly go wrong. Just a whole lot of fun, that’s what
I received this as an arc and I am giving my honest review voluntarily
Nellie Larkin wasn’t very likable at the beginning of the book. She is spoiled by her wealthy parents and has been the cause of trouble in too many relationships Sunnyridge. She even tries to outbid Sylvia Garcia not realizing with her poor eyesight that she is bidding on the one man in town who doesn’t want to flirt with her Dax Ellison. But throughout the books she shows how much she cares about others starting with her dying Gram, who she wants to make happy by showing she is in a relationship. There was plenty of humor and romance in this story. Dax puts his foot in his mouth and does stupid things, but then Nellie does too. It was great to catch up with Stella and Bram from A Cowboy for Christmas. I’m looking forward to Jeremy and Bram’s sister Tammy’s story in A Cowboy’s Love Song.
A fantastic well written short second chance romance. This engaging storyline with lots of humor had me addicted from the beginning. Dax was mistakenly won at the cowboy auction by Nellie who he had tormented/bullied all through high school. This sweet romance was a great read having them both being challenged with miscommunication and assumptions in an amazing journey as she needs him to be a fake boyfriend. A great HEA in the standalone with cameoes from previous series characters. I honestly and voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. At a charity auction, Nellie Larkin mistakenly buys a date with Dax Ellison whom she says she dislikes. While on the date she asks him to be her fake boyfriend so her grandmother won’t worry about her. Despite their difference in backgrounds they are attracted to each other but she thinks he’s interested in another girl. An uplifting story about second chance love and helping others.
This was a fun read! Great story of a second chance at love. It’s sweet and clean, and it has a great ending! The characters are fun and it’s nice to see characters from other books in the series too. I recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions are my own and are expressed voluntarily.
It was nice to see Nellie, the main character, grow and become something more than the local spoiled rich girl. Seeing her as a vulnerable human is not an easy task but she grows in confidence after she wins a date with Dax at a charity event.
As the unlikely pair continue to get to know each other, miscommunication and jealousy may be the end of them~
Delightful Second Chance Romance! Nellie can’t wear her contacts so she bids on the wrong guy at a charity auction and wins a date with Dax, her nemesis since high school. As they overcome their preconceived ideas, they realize they’re still attracted to each other but miscommunication almost ends their chance at happiness. The result-an engaging, clean, fun story for us to read. Enjoy!
I gave it 5 stars because / it’s good story, believable characters, good pacing but most Importantly this author can develop a romance without the need to fill the pages with sexual activities. I’m very much appreciated it being a sweet, clean story. Will read more from this author
I enjoyed A Cowboy for Auction, the second book in the Riverdale Ranch Romance series. Rich girl, Nellie Larkin, buys a date with Dax Ellison so she can fulfill her aged grandmother's wish for her to have a boyfriend. I loved how Dax and Nellie worked on a benefit auction to help someone else. I recommend this clean romance to others. I listened to an audiobook. This is my honest opinion.
I loved this story by Jewel Allen. Amazing what havoc and pain miscommunication can cause. A wrong choice in high school has left Nellie and Dax as enemies or at least feeling strong dislike. But as we know there is a fine line between love and hate. I can’t wait to find out what she has in store for us.
I sat and read this in one go. It had so many feels that I could not put it down, at times laughing out loud, and at times frustrated with the characters who were so oblivious to each other's feelings. Such a great book! I could see all of the characters described so well and I love Gram!
Nellie needs a boyfriend to meet her grandmother. She accidentally buys a date with Dax because she isn't wearing her glasses. They have been enemies since high school when she broke a date with him for the Valentine's dance.
Because of her bad eyesight Nellie bids on the wrong guy. Now she stuck with Dax. But high school is a long time away and they aren’t these people anymore. Can this be the start of a new beginning or are they still too different? Sweet, fun story.
I am thoroughly enjoying this series. I don't like to give away the story so instead l simply recommend it. If you look for entertaining characters, interesting storylines and clean romance then this is a book for you!
I enjoyed this story about 2 misunderstood people who have grown up since their teen years. It was sweet seeing each of them hope for the other and misunderstand signals. I enjoyed the way they challenged each other to be better and were willing to make good changes for each other.
What a great story. I had a hard time putting the book down. I enjoyed how real the story was. I hope there are books about these characters and the town.
The title seems to give away what is coming but you need to read to really get it. So many almost moments that lead to so many missed opportunities for this couple. I encourage you to read this to enjoy their journey. Especially if you love cowboy love stories. This is a perfect one.
