Clare C. Marshall grew up in rural Nova Scotia with very little television and dial-up internet, and yet she turned out okay. Her YA sci-fi novel Dreams In Her Head was nominated for Canada's 2014 Creation of Stories award. She is a full-time freelance editor, book designer, ghostwriter, and web manager. If there’s time left in the day, she devotes it to Faery Ink Press, her publishing imprint. When she’s not writing or fiddling up a storm, she enjoys computer games and making silly noises at cats.

There were parts of this book where I wanted to slap the MC for being incredibly stupid. Things turned out alright in the end, but holy crap was her behaviour bad for a lot of it. Based on the last three books, I get it and I get where she's coming from. I was glad to see that she showed a lot of growth as a person towards the end of the book. I hope there are more books in this series.

This is my tap out. . . .

I don't know where to start, but I really wasn't vibing with this book. To begin with the theme of corruption has been handled better in other media, I do think it was wise not to have our character go out on another quest as that has been done to death, but it's just kind of a bland story IMO.

On top of that, the ending felt a bit rushed, and they didn't really wrap it up either, yet, I'm not interested in what comes next. I'm just done. The choices for this one felt off and I don't know how I would fix it myself. I think I'm partly disappointed because I thought this would be the "final" book, but nope. . . . that's left open. Anyway. . . . I'm going to hope the next book I purchased from a convention suits me better.

In the finale of the series, Kiera finds all of the answers and yet none of them are as might be expected.
