I had trouble to connect with Skylar, because she had to live trough a lot abuse but still stayed loyal to her mum. I like the story and the reader gets a good idea where it will go. This a very slow burn reverse harem story as far as you can tell, after reading this information somewhere, because nothing really happens. And I am not sure, who the guys in her harem will be. Just one warning: This Book needs some good editing!

I usually skim the blurb of books, i like not knowing too much of the story so i take the warnings with a pinch of salt but nothing prepared me for this book. Dark twisted books dont normally get to me, i prefer some but damn this caught me unawares.
Skylar is a sad, lost, lonely and angry girl I have not felt such empathy for a character in a long time. She was so mean at times and other times such a "coward"really not the right word but i cant think of anything better atm.
The story is slow and heartbreaking. You will find 0 romance in the first book which i'm sooo grateful for. Its about her dealing with what has happened and whats currently happening
This book is slowburn as in very slow, only meeting 3 of the potential harem members i think. Its more of an introduction to Sky and some of the guys and little bit of the mythology
The book does end in a nasty cliffhanger so be warned.
To repeat what other reviews have said, please please take notice of the warning at the beginning of the book. The content is graphic and heartwrenching.
That said, the content is also extremely well written, and the characters come to life quickly (which is handy, as it's only a very short book) I felt so much hatred for Drake instantly. And then realising that Gavin knew it was happening and did nothing - I wanted to reach into the book and punch him. And then the realisation that if Gavin knew, Mom probably did too - and as a mother, that just made me so angry, that she did nothing to save her daughter.
There were a couple of things that surprised me in the book, and made it less believable for me: 1) After being abused numerous times by various men whilst growing up, Skylar is then surrounded solely by male characters at the college. When Dr Higgard realises what she's been through, I would have expected them to provide a female counsellor / female RA / SOMEBODY female for her to have around. The only female we hear about apart from Skylar is the Dean's receptionist. 2) Skylar is told that she is part Vila and the granddaughter of Pan - and just accepted it, without question. Living in a world where these things are myths and legend, I would have expected her to need at least a little proof. Oh, and by the way, you're going to go live at the underground college - yep, no problem, show me the way....
But, that said, I am looking forward to the next book and finding out what happens next

Poor Sky has endured some truly terrible times in her life, and finally has a chance to escape - by moving hours away to attend college. Unbeknownst to her, this college is special and she will learn more about herself than she ever knew before.
This book has some beyond awful characters, but there are plenty of good (but also slightly secretive) ones, too. This story really plays on your emotions. You really feel for Sky after all she goes through.
I thought it was a good book but ended too soon! I need to read the next one now!
In the movie Princess Bride, there is a quote, “Life is pain. Anyone who says differently is selling something.” Capturing Fate certainly takes this concept to a new level. It is a book of survival, pain, and perseverance. Not everybody has a perfect life and not everybody has the courage or confidence to push themselves through a bad situation. The lead character, Sky persevered, and she overcame her hardships with extreme determination. However, Crystal took the character in a different direction and introduced an amazing twist in chapter 17 that came out of nowhere. This book begins with a very difficult situation involving intense sexual abuse. The disclaimer at the beginning should not be taken lightly. However, this negative foundation allows the plot to be gritty, intense, unexpected and relevant to the world of abused children. Crystal certainly has the gift of great dialog and she came up with excellent characters. Sky reminded me of a friend in college who overcame her tragic childhood. This is the first book in a series and it ended on an extreme cliffhanger. I cannot wait for the sequel. I have recommended this book to two friends and one already told me how much she liked it.
A well written, but difficult read. The reason this book is so difficult to read is that the author's portrayal of sexual assault and the resultant post traumatic stress is on point. While I recommend this book, don't read if sexual assault is a trigger for you
Ahh let me just say this was darker than I anticipated but it was sooo good. I just wished it was longer or I could have book two now. Sky was put through so much. She was dealt a bad hand with her mother's marriage. I mean I was ranting & & feeling so much rage towards Gavin and Drake. I really wanna get my hands on the next book already it was a really good story that pulled me in fast.
So this book definitely put me on an emotional rollercoaster!!!!! I loved our main character she had been through so much and continued to fight for freedom!! That ending made me want to have a panic attack right alongside our girl!! Wish it was longer, and please hurry with the second book!!
So good, but definitely don't read if you can't handle graphic noncon and abuse scenes. The writing is amazing and the terrible parts are handled with the gravity and seriousness that few writers actually accomplish. Looking forward to the next installment.
I thought I would connect with this story since it had several of my favorite tropes. Unfortunately, there were some issues that kept me from liking it as much as I had hoped.
What I Liked: *The human girl finds out she is supernatural and the abused girl finds people to love and trust (this one not fully realized yet) tropes. I am a sucker for both of these. *The setting. I still love a magic school setting even though that was not really prevalent in this book.
What I Didn't Like: *Skylar, the MC. Though her unpleasant demeanor was somewhat understandable due to her backstory, it didn't make it any more enjoyable to read. I cringed on the behalf of any character that attempted to talk with or help her. *The inconsistencies. Skylar was 17 when her abuse from the main villain started. She said it was 3 years but she was just starting 4 years of college and later it was indicated that she was 19. Logan at the first introduction had jet black hair then he had light brown hair. In the prologue it was indicated that Skylar's father was going by the name John. Later on another character called him James. *Editing. As other reviewers have indicated, this book suffers from many writing errors.
Though I wasn't a huge fan of this story, I am mildly intrigued to see where it goes. I am hopeful with a little more time with the characters, I will connect and find them more likeable.
A little slow, but well developed characters even though the ending is more of a "to be continued..." type of thing. I did quite enjoy the main character, and I found that she was very believable in her emotions and her strength. The love interests are going to have to get their acts together, and I admit the teacher thing feels a bit weird, but I am excited to read more nonetheless. The writing was good, though not spectacular, which is why it earns a solid 4 stars.
I really liked the concept of this story, God's and nymphs. Also, knowing what all the characters are thinking is great. However, sky changed to third person instead of first at times, and that was a bit annoying. Lastly, I really hate cliffhangers. Although, I will still read the next book.
The only reason this book isn't getting 5 stars after binge reading the whole series in like 3 days is because of how outrageously short they are! It's infuriating 😭 These books should have been one, please make the next one longer, I don't mind the wait but leaving every single book on such an extreme cliffhanger is not cool!
This book was good but tough to read. The assault part are descriptive and confronting. It made me very anxious reading and was a little triggering for me. Nothing I couldn't handle but I was not expecting the detail that was put into the assaults. Overall the story was good and it is interesting and different but very short.
Yes it starts out hard to read - this author doesn’t waste time getting to the point. You will be left wanting to know more, broken hearted at the end of the book with a need to start the next book. Wonderful charters, great story line!!
It was ok, ended on a cliffhanger but i read this book and while i was curious as to what happened next, im not curious enough and didnt enjoy the book enough to pick up the next one.
story might've been interesting if it wasn't for the bad writing. needs lots lots lots looooooots of editing. she'd be like "I walked through the hall, a guy bumped into her. I tried to avoid him but there wasn't any space. She winced, I hated it when people touched me."
Mistakes in the previous sentence aren't because my English is bad. It's exactly how this book is written.
