A good intro where we get to meet Winter Miles - the less-than-heroic heroine of the Plague series - as she realises that there's more to the "rabies" outbreak than the media's been letting on. Not that she'll let a little thing like the end if the world stop her from going to find her sister, or do whatever needs to be done to save herself for her precious Cleo. It's only short, but you get the feel for who Winter is, and most importantly, who she will become once the plague takes hold...

I liked this more than I thought I would. The excerpt of Winter Plague gets your heart racing right away. Interested in reading more.

In a nutshell - Winter and her dog Cloe are on their way to DC to visit her sister Summer. But a virus breaks out and her vacation turns into a race for survival.
