Deadly Danger is Book #2 in A Seeing Colors Mystery series by J. A. Whiting.
This book is about Nell Finley and her older sister Violet Finley. During the start of this book, Nell and Violet find a dog (a lab/beagle mix) in the park. Violet says she has seen that same dog three days in a row. Their own dog, Iris, makes friends with the other dog. He is a friendly little fellow and his collar shows his name is Oscar. When Nell, Violet, and Police Detective Peter Bigelow go to the address on Oscar's collar, the dog's owner, Adam, is not there. The dog doesn't want to go into the house. Nell sees the colors red, orange, purple, and black on Oscar's fur, as well as those same colors in Adam's kitchen. the neighbors said Adam loved Oscar, but why was Oscar found in another town than where he lived? Where was Adam? His car is found. Oscar's dog bowl and dog bed are found in a dumpster near the car. What could all of this mean?
When I read the first 5 or 6 chapters, I thought Adam was maybe in the Witness Protection program. However, I read a lot of Harlequin suspense stories about Witness Protection and the F.B.I. and U. S. Marshall's Service, so my mind tends to run in that direction. Am I right in the ballpark? Or am I way off in my beliefs? Read this wonderful book and find out.
You will love Iris and Oscar, too great dogs with a whole lot of spirit. I love how Nell tells Oscar that he is "the best boy dog, ever!" Then she notices Iris looking at her, and she tells her, "And you're the best girl dog, ever!" Then Iris grins, and woofs, as if to say, "That's very true!"
This was another great book and I gave it 5 stars. I will be reading the 3rd book in the series, Catastrophe Cliff. It is the last in the series, so far, but I really hope there will be more because I really love the characters. I've never heard of tetrachromacy before and it is interesting to learn new information, even if I am an old 65-year-old woman.
This was a very exciting tale. I enjoyed getting to know the sisters better. I love their zest for life, the special gifts they have and learning about their lives. I would love to meet these two brave, feisty gals. characters
This book's settings were alive and exciting. The places were described so clearly and in such detail, I was transported to their house, the beach, and especially the woods. This book is full of action, emotional moments, and believable plots. It zips along while taking the reader through a variety of settings, circumstances, characters , thrills, suspense, and emotions. I really enjoyed this fine ride. Thank you. 😄😂😰😄
Nell Finley and her sister, Violet, find a lost dog which leads them to a man who disappeared. Is the man in danger or is he dangerous? Nell's ability to see colors that others don't helps the police in another case.
This is the second book in the series and it was an enjoyable read. Seeing the world through Nell's eyes is very intriguing and the various relationships are well-done. This was a great follow-up to the first book, and I am looking forward to the next. I recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order for the most enjoyment and benefit.
Nell and her sister , Violet, find a lost dog at the park! Oscar's owner is not home and cannot be found. So the search is on to find Adam! This search becomes more and more involved and it is evident that Adam is on the run. As clues are followed and more information is found, it becomes a case of finding Adam before the criminals chasing him do. Interesting, entertaining, and well devised cozy mystery is a delightful, quick read.
I found this book to be strangely unsatisfying on many levels but I thoroughly enjoyed meeting canines Oscar and Iris. If Witness Protection actually works as portrayed here, heaven help anyone relying on it because the program itself certainly will not. Once again, the facile climax that wraps everything up in a very few pages undid the impact of the story itself leaving this reader unsettled and unsatisfied.
I am amazed at the author for creating these characters. Nell is a great addition to all the paranormal series that Ms Whiting is famous for. She is one of my favorites. Learning more about how colors can change your life is fascinating. Can’t wait to read more books about Nell’s growing abilities. 👍👍👍
I guess I am into warm and fuzzy.. Light hearted and put together better. To me it read like "500 or less" and leave the reader wondering who really wrote this book. I will get the next one but if it even begins to read like this one, I will NOT finish it!
People with 4 colour cones in their eyes see many more colours than the rest of us Nell is one of these people. Now she is sensing emotions. When they find a abandoned dog they try to find is owner. Witness protection becomes involved in the mysteries. This is intreging thriller but no gore, no foul language it was a wonderful story need more of those books
I loved this latest cozy about the bond between a man and his dog I loved the story and the characters especially Oscar. This book is recommended for those who love mysteries.
I really like the relationship between the two sisters and their dog, maybe even a second dog. Nell's way to see colors is a totally cool new way to see crime. Just read series
Having the heroine be able to emotional colors around a person/animal made the book intriguing. Her trying to help the police and at the same time understand what she sees makes the story hard to put down. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
I would recommend this book to any one. It is an exciting and fun book. Not a lot of explicit violence which I prefer and no sex. My imagination let's me fill in blanks if needed. Thank you.
The author, J. A, Whiting, has a way with the printed word, the characters, a pair of sisters, are a strong bond of amateur crime solvers. The sisters are at it once again in this tale of mystery, intrigue and Erie suspense.
Really enjoying the premise of this new series! It is as much fun learning with Nell as she goes along about her color vision, as is the mystery involved.
JA Whiting has done it again. Couldn't put this book down. Good mystery writer, suspense to the very end. Oscar is such a loveable dog. You will love this book.
Interesting story! Not much to it, but an enjoyable read! Sad story really!! Different "take" on assisting the good guys, which was the plot of the story!
Author mixes the Scientific, descriptions (of locations, people, & animals) without dragging the story, humanity, & good mystery all together for an enjoyable read.
This series is so thrilling to read. It holds your attention and is hard to.put down. It is so well written you almost feel as if you are there. Highly recommended.
