The second volume, while sill maintaining the interesting art, isn't any better than the first. This series is all yelling, bombastic id. It's trying to appear to be edgy and hard core but just doesn't land it for me. I'm sure there is an audience for this, but I won't be reading more.

**Thanks to the artist, publisher, and NetGalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Talk about epic and this manga is basically that.

The final battle between Thor and Lu Bu start and we see them take their final positions or power-ups and channeling their most powerful attacks but the also some history of how Lu Bu had been searching for his "worthy" opponent and when he did find him this happens but then again the end result was expected and the point to the victor and what followed with the others followers were just unwavering and inspiring Loyalty.

Next is Adam vs Zeus and we get the backstory of the later and the attacks and fight is just epic (I am gonna be using this word a lot for this manga). Adam gets some interesting weapons here.

This manga just gets better with every volume and the art is freaking insane as its like watching a live action battle shounen manga with so much better art.

The culmination of the first round is well deserved, and the coda, an appropriate offering to the feats of the vanquished. These two opponents have earned each other's respect. This is prime shonen battle manga right here!

The second round match up is between Zeus and his entrance music and the ultimate heel in the eyes of the gods, the first man Adam!

This battle manga can sure get the blood pumping as well as main event WWE card. The art is amazing as always.

More a slam ‘em computer game than any kind of narrative, but writ large and VERY silly. Some… interesting… interpretations of gods and heroes and some amazingly literal translations of both The Book of Genesis and the Edda (but good to see the research in place!). I’m sure this will have a story arc, but in the meantime it’s just panel after panel of power-ups.

This volume is definitely better than the previous one. The fight between Lu Bu and Thor comes to an end at the beginning of this book. The second fight is between Adam, yes that Adam from Christianity, and Zeus. First of all, the first fight was really good even though I did not know a lot of things about Lu Bu. However, since Norse mythology is my favourite, I loved the changes made to Thor and the myths about him. The second fight starts out great and I love Adam's character and design. Zeus pisses me off but he is actually very close to his self in Greek Mythology. Since I watched the anime, I know what happens next but I'm still curious because the manga is much more detailed.

It took me a bit to really get into this series, and it was this volume that did it. The first volume was a fight between two classically badass characters which wasn't all that interesting or exciting to me, but the fight in this volume between Adam and Zeus was incredibly interesting to me.

This manga series certainly doesn't shy away from what it wants to be, which is a pure tournament arc fight fantasy between mortals and gods. How the creators choose to represent both the mortals and gods is probably the best part of the series. I love how Adam is depicted not as a manly man, but a more unclassical take on a man. Plus, his 'power' of copying a god's powers because he was created 'as a copy' of God came off as incredibly creative to me.

I love how the Valkyries are human kinds only defenders and seeing the lengths they go to to protect them definitely gets you more invested in the battles. This volume definitely raised the stakes quite a bit.

Of course all of this does tend to edge over onto the goofy side, but if you're a fan of fight mangas or tournament arcs, this series is definitely worth a read.

In this volume, we'll see two battle between Thor vs Lu Bu and Adam vs Zeus. I don't really think this story is my taste coz I think it will be just a battle collection like I watch gladiator or something like that. 😂

So, if the first round I go with Thor, in the second round I'll go with Adam.

Chapter 6: Round one of Ragnarok goes to the Gods!

Chapter 7: Red hare I know. Now that Heaven and Earth are with out our lord Lü Bu, there is no reason for us to remain here either. Let us join him! Let us follow our lord!
Fine... An offering. An offering to my friend Lü Bu!
Our lord's name will echo in the crash of thunder!

Chapter 7: What happens to Lü Bu and Rangrid after this?
After this? What a foolish question. This is a battle of souls. If the soul itself is shattered, there is no resurrection, no rebirth, no salvation. You simply become cosmic dust.
Dust?!
Niflhel-the complate annihilation of the soul. There is no "after."

Chapter 7:

Chapter 7: What? File number one?

Chapter 7: Are you ready for round two?! For the humans! The fighter keeping humanity's hopes alive is this man! Who could have predicted this?! "Let them have domination over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air... and over every living thing that moveth upon Earth." This man was created with these blessings from the gods! And now he's defying his very creators themselves! He who named himself "man." He is truly a man among men! His fists are the only things he believes in! He is the original minimalist! Tempted by the forbidden fruit, no human in human history despises the gods more than he does. If anybody has a good reason to smack gods, it's him! The father of all of humanity! His name is...

Chapter 8: Taking on that man among men, Adam, is none other than the God of gods himself! If we call Adam the father of humanity, then this man must be named The father of the gods! No...! He is The Godfather of the Cosmos! Creating something from nothing on a whim and back to nothing if it displeases him. He is truly the absolute one and only God! Inciter of the titanomachy-the battle to decide the mightiest of the gods! The one who willingly took upon himself the infamy of killing his own father! The sadistic warmongering, lecherous deity! The God of gods! His name is ZEUS!

Chapter 8: It's. My. Turn.

Chapter 8:

Chapter 8:

Chapter 9: "So God created mankind in his own image." "In the image of God he created them." Genesis 1:27. Adam is copy of God. And so he can perfectly duplicate any divine technique he sees! He can throw whatever they throw at him right back in their faces! That's Adam's power! It's called... "Divine Replication."

Chapter 9:

Chapter 9: Long ago somewhere in the galaxy at the final round of the Titanomachy tournament, a young Zeus defeated the mightiest god in the universe at the time. His father, Kronos, the personification of time. However, Zeus had advanced through the tournament without suffering a single blow. The only one to strike him came from his father. Kronos. Later, Zeus learned the technique his father used for that final blow. With respect and resentment he named it. It is said to be a move that grants domination over all of time.

PopKulturowy Kociołek:

W Record of Ragnarok ludzie stają do nierównej walki z Bogami w celu uratowania świata.

Widowiskowość, widowiskowość i jeszcze raz widowiskowość.

Okay, this series is just big dumb fun. When I say "dumb," I don't mean stupid, I just mean not deep. And that works for me! I'm here mostly for the shit-talking (of which there is plenty), but the fighting is pretty fun too. In this volume we learn the outcome of Thor vs. Lu Bu, a fight with an explosive finish. Then, after the arena has been cleaned up and repaired, Round Two begins. The contenders? None other than Adam, the progenitor of humans, and Zeus, the progenitor of the gods! I was wondering about some of the humans on the list of contestants, what powers they would end up having to make them candidates for Ragnarok, and Adam's makes so much sense that I'm annoyed with myself for not thinking of it! This volume ends with the bout *looking* like it's over, but we all know how that usually goes. I'm honestly enjoying this series more than I thought I would! I appreciate that it doesn't DBZ the fights - they're fairly quick and to the point, not dragged out pointlessly, and there's a good amount of snark flung about for laughs. I can't think of anything I dislike about it so far, and I'm looking forward to the next volume!

Title: Record of Ragnarok
Volume: 2
Genre: Action/ fighting

Plot: 5/5- because the plot is so simple, you can’t really go wrong. The manga is always progressing,

Art style: 4/5- there are still pages where the characters are drawn intentionally to show emotion, but overall the art is very impressive. A lot of detail is present in every image.

Cuteness: 2/5- Thor’s hammer having pulsing muscle? Icky. But Adam? Okay, Adam is cute. Even the characters make note of the fact Adam is cute, and therefore shouldn’t be fighting a God, but other than that, no cuteness.

Characters: 4/5- This goes up a little bit as they introduce a horse for extra brownie points; we’re all suckers for an animal friend. Make the horse CRY and we lose our minds. Well played. All of the supporting characters are well realised too.

Relatability: 3/5- When bits of the plot got a bit wacky, the characters were self aware and asked what was going on, which made the book more realistic. But, once again, the humans-fighting-gods element brought the realism down.

Overall Judgement: 4/5

If you were semi-convinced of the series in the first volume, then this one (especially if you are a fan of fights) will definitely sell you the series.

Literally, the hype and anticipation levels were through the roof in this volume. Not only because of the conclusion to the fight between Thor and Lübu but also due to the construction of the fight between Zeus and Adam. Seriously, I don't remember yelling/squealing as much as I did here with other manga. Quite honestly, this could be one of the best fights I've ever read due to each combatant's background, motivation, and personality. Well, and the fight itself, which is the pinnacle of epic.

I hope it's not a recurring theme to leave you hanging because this left me wanting to immediately go and buy the next volume.
