I made a deal with a friend that if I read this, he'd read Magi. So here we are. As far as isekai's go, this wasn't bad. Very reminiscent of Shield Hero in the world building, but with a tone more similar to Konosuba. I'm curious what the main conflict is gonna be about.
So due to his parents making a deal to escape their world into our Earth world, a boring mediocre looking guy by the author's and world's standards is forced to become a hero in another universe. But he gets rejected for his ugliness by the deity that made the contract hence he is not compatible to be a hero. Who knew heroes had to be hot" about to get your pants wet hot"? Narcissistic Goddess? Checked. And she adds that the position has already been filled out. Excuse me if the position is filled out, why do you need to say that he is too ugly to be a hero of yours? Couldn't you just have started with that?? Too much common sense. Basically she just wants his ugly mugshot away from her as far as possible, sends him to the edge to the world as punishment (one's physical appearance is a crime got it) with a side of only being able to speak and understand languages of the non humans species. She really doesn't what you to mingle with the humans and lower the beauty standards unwarted hero.
Also why is he OP from the start? Rejected by world's goddess, another deity takes pity on him and grants him certain powers (like don't expect much). Instead these powers that make him OP as fuck (yet the human world can't see that and think he is a joke enter the goddess's punishment for him being an ugly boy). He was able to defeat demons and a dragon one during his first week in this new world. That makes sense. People here don't know how to use Microsoft Word and open a door yet this guy magically knows his to defeat his opponents when over the top skills. The regular rule of isekai: don't know shit, overpowered with skills, life is good and it makes sense.
Now our neighborhood dragon. The most terrifying badass dragon is defeated but Miso and makes a contract with him to serve his as a servant. Turns into a chick. Boy will I have some comments to say if our angry spider turns into a black haired beautify.
English translations of these novels can be a bit clunky, and what I read wasn't in paperback, but this was the closest I could find to the title. Anyway, quirky story. I love the Isekai genre and this one has some cool twists. Will read the rest of the volumes.
Love this series!!! Its fun and engaging for a different use isekai spin!! Don't miss out on this series! Its kind of a reverse Jewish with hilarious opinion issues but still an great perspective.
Good! Fun read, very wholesome and you get to love the characters. Can get a little slow but I think that's the beauty of it, enjoying the ride while it lasts. Very simple but satisfying. Doesn't take on more than it can chew but takes you slowly along with it for the ride.
