Aahil
There are two kinds of people in this world, those who walk a path to reach somewhere and those who walk a path to reach anywhere, just to escape the present. Aahil was both. He knew that he was heading to a place where he would be able to live with peace but, he also knew that there was no such place in the world. He was introduced to hatred and dreams about the same time in childhood, and when hatred and dreams are together in someone's life, his story can never be ordinary.

“Rahgir” is his pen name and it perfectly explains his thoughts and dreams. He is a travelling Musician/ writer/ storyteller who has travelled across 16 states in India till now while performing at uncountable streets, hospitals, schools, colleges, cafes, and NGOs. Aahil is his first book and it is more of a mirror image of our society than a collection of fictitious fancy words. 'आहिल' उन चुनिंदा उपन्यासों में से हैं जो पाठक को सहज नहीं होने देते। कुछ-कुछ मंटो की तरह।( जी! आपने सही पढ़ा)
पाठक की परेशानी यह है कि वह जिंदगी की असलियत से भागकर उपन्यासों में शरण ढूंँढता है और जब उपन्यासों में भी असलियत लिख दी जाए तो वह छटपटा उठता है। 'आहिल' इंसान और इंसानियत के समीकरण में असलियत का जोड़-घटाना है।
व्यक्ति अच्छा या बुरा उसके निर्णयों से होता है। और निर्णय सही या गलत परिस्थितियों के परिप्रेक्ष्य में होते हैं। तो क्या सही मायनों में परिस्थितियांँ ही व्यक्ति का निर्माण नहीं करतीं?!
हम सब अच्छे-बुरे, कमज़ोर-मजबूत, प्यार-नफरत, महानता-टुच्चई के बीच झूलते माटी के पुतले हैं और ऐसा ही आहिल भी है। नौ वर्ष का आहिल, अपने पिता के लिए शर्मिंदगी और घृणा का विषय है। बात-बे-बात कुटाई हो जाती है। भूखे प्यासे, अंधेरे कमरों में, दो दो दिन तक कैद कर दिया जाता है। पिता का सारा प्रेम उमड़ता है आहिल के छोटे भाई, दाविद पर। इसलिए आहिल को दाविद से ईर्ष्या है। पर दाविद है के बड़े भाई से निश्चल प्रेम करता है। अब आहिल द्वंद में है। आहिल का संपूर्ण जीवन यही है - द्वंद। एकदम परिस्थितियां कुछ ऐसी करवट लेती हैं कि वह घर छोड़ कर भाग जाता है। पर क्या बाहर की दुनिया उसके घर की दुनिया से कुछ अलग है?!
या क्या आहिल ही उस दुनिया से अलग है जिससे वो भाग आया है। 15 साल बाद आहिल घर लौटता है। इन्हीं 15 वर्षों की कहानी है -'आहिल'।
लिखते हुए राहगीर भाई रंगसाज़ नजर आ रहे हैं। शब्दों से तस्वीरें बनाई हैं और तस्वीरों को द्वंद के रंग से रंग डाला है। गहरे, पक्के रंग। जीवन की कितनी प्रबल परिकल्पना!
'आहिल' के किरदार सफेद-काले से परे हैं। सुरमई हैं। अंतर्द्वंदों में उलझे। लेखक ने किरदारों को जिस सच्चाई और गहराई से लिखा है मानो वो जीवंत हो उठे हैं ।

Aahil is not just a novel about one person, but I believe we can all relate to him at some point of time, where we had to make tough decisions. Nobody in the world is wrong or right/ bad or good, its the situation or our desires which makes us bad. The epitome of human thoughts that can make them take a decision which they might regret later. The book denotes how while having everything, you still dont have anything

दो स्टार, क्योंकि ये किताब बुकर पुरस्कार विजेता लेखक अरविंद अडिग की किताब द व्हाइट टाइगर की नकल है, लगभग हू ब हू।
जिन्होंने भी अरविंद की किताब पढ़ी है , वो तुरंत समझ जाएंगे।
बाकी इसे मूल समझ कर उच्च रेटिंग देंगे।

“आहिल” यह पुस्तक सभी के पढ़ने योग्य है। एक बच्चे की आत्म खोज की यात्रा की अत्यंत शक्तिशाली कहानी, जिसके आश्चर्यजनक परिणाम सामने आते हैं। उसे एहसास होता है जीवन यात्रा के बारे में, न कि केवल मंजिल के बारे में। जैसे-जैसे वह अलग अलग जगह जाता है, वह कई व्यक्तित्वों से जुड़ता है, जिनके अनुभव और विचार उसके खुद के अनुभवों और विचारों को गहराई से प्रभावित करते हैं। उसकी खामियों के बावजूद, उसकी शारीरिक और भावनात्मक यात्रा में उसका साथ देना खुशी की बात है।दुनिया में कोई भी व्यक्ति गलत या सही/बुरा या अच्छा नहीं होता, यह परिस्थिति या हमारी इच्छाएँ होती हैं जो हमें बुरा बनाती हैं। यह पुस्तक हमे यह बताती है कि कैसे सब कुछ होते हुए भी आपके पास कुछ नहीं होता!

I loved the way writer has portrayed the character of Aahil, he is the protagonist but not the hero.
Aahil is a very realistic character experiences pain, fear, dilemma like us.
We all have been Aahil at some point of our lives.
The story narration is simple and lucid, easy to understand.
Loved the flow of story and each character manages to stay in the back of your mind whether it's Shalini, Damodar or Sarim.
The book is a perfect combination of a deep story in a lighter way.
I loved the cover too .

एक दर्दनाक ज़िंदगी की एक ठंडी सी दास्तान।
राहगीर के गानों से परिचय होने के बाद उसकी लिखी कहानी पढ़ने की उत्कंठा में यह पुस्तक ख़रीदी गई। बमुश्किल २०० पन्नों की इस किताब को एक बैठक में पढ़ सकते हैं। कहानी के सारे मोड़ दुखांत हैं और बस यही ‘आहिल’ की छोटी सी कहानी है।

The book is a light reading but i did not find any good story in it. The name suggests a story of Aahil but all bad things happened to him and he also did the same to others. What is the moral or learning of the book, I did not understand. The writing style is good.

Aahil chronicles the protagonist's journey throughout his troubled childhood to adulthood, where he finds peace in his suffering, in spite of the continuation of his suffering. The story makes you smile, cry, and question your thoughts, because you relate to the thoughts and emotions of the protagonist.
Kudos to Rahgir for writing such a beautiful story which will touch the hearts of all those who read it.
