To find a dangerous grimoire, they’ll have to break a few rules…and maybe their hearts.

When warlock Tony Castillo picks up Cassandra Sandoval at the airport, the copper-haired witch brings his restless, aimless life into razor-sharp focus…and triggers a wince-inducing case of foot-in-mouth disease. Luckily, her cool, hazel-green gaze betrays not a flicker of answering attraction. Nope, Cassandra is all business. Which Tony can understand, given the magnitude of her task.

Cassandra has one job: retrieve the de la Paz grimoires from the heavily warded hiding place at Tony’s family home, conceal them with her unique shielding power, and immediately return them to her clan’s territory. Easy. Quick. No time for anything to go wrong, to give in to the temptation of a too-handsome warlock.

They find Tony’s mother unconscious and the grimoires missing, the only clue a slimy residue reeking of Escobar magic. As they race to get the dangerous books out of the wrong hands, Cassandra and Tony cross a few boundaries, break a few more rules, and find something neither expected — love. But if they fail, nothing will shield them, or the world as they know it, from unrelenting evil.

Note: An Ill Wind is a standalone, no-cliffhangers romance in the Witches of Canyon Road series. It takes place approximately four months after the events of book 5, Demon Born.

A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Many reams of dead trees later, she’s happy to announce that her debut novel, Fringe Benefits, was published by Pink Petal Books on April 8, 2010. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the new journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Her paranormal novella, Playing With Fire, was released on August 5, 2010.

While Fringe Benefits is a straight contemporary romance, she writes in a variety of genres, including paranormal romance, fantasy, horror, science fiction, and historical romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection.

After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor in addition to writing fiction. She lives with her husband and an explosively fluffy Pomeranian mix. Her house is pink, but don’t hold that against her.

An Ill Wind by Christine Pope is another great story in the Witches of Canyon Road series!
This one is special because we are introduced to a new character and find new strengths in someone who always acted the playboy.
Tony Castillo Is on his way to the airport to pick up Cassandra Sandoval of the de la Paz clan. She is going to pick up all of the black magic books Tony’s mother has been hiding and take them back to her clan. Only nothing ever goes as smoothly as the witches would want. Someone has stollen the books and knocked out Tony’s mother! After she is seen to, Tony and Cassandra take up the hunt.
Tony can’t go to his prima because she is on bed rest due to her pregnancy. And Cassandra is pretty sure her prima will say “No!” So the two decide it is better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission and set off on a multi-clan, multi-country adventure to figure out who took the books.
This book was unique because Tony and Cassandra flew all over the place, going into other clans’ territories and other countries without asking permission and without telling anyone what they were doing! Go team!
I throughly enjoyed this book and hope that you do too!

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. An Ill Wind by Christine Pope is the sixth book in the Witches of Canyon Road series. This is a brilliant addition to this saga. I love that Ms. Pope has an eye to detail and continues the story line by tying up loose ends and unraveling others. Tony Castillo and Cassandra Sandoval have what should be a straight forward task. But when has anything gone right the first time out for the Castillos or the Sandovals. This amazing read will pull you in and spin you around like the spin cycle on a washing machine. Action, adventure, chaos, stingingly hot chemistry and satisfaction await you between these pages. If you love Kim Harrison, Ilona Andrews, Gena Showalter or Jeaniene Frost, you will love Christine Pope and gladly add her to the top of your Authors To Read list! (If you haven't read any of these authors, What Are You Waiting For?!) This is a series read and I recommend reading the books in order to prevent spoilers and get the most enjoyment from the series.

This honest and voluntary review was made possible by reading an advance copy.

Christine Pope is one "Adventurous" Lady. Her writing style, and imagination can keep me busy for hours. Things are really getting interesting now in Book 6 “An Ill Wind” of The Witches of Canyon Road series. I must say this is an amazing continuation of what happened to the dangerous stolen de la Paz Grimoires. Packed with twists, magic, and steamy romance this book definitely delivers. With the only clue being a slimy residue reeking of Escobar magic it takes Tony Castillo and Cassandra Sandoval across several Witches Clan’s territories. They travel to find the Escobar warlock and get the dangerous books out of the wrong hands. The characters develop throughout as you see them getting romantically closer. I totally recommend this book and series but you must read the previous books in order to understand the full concept of the stories.

Awesome Book! Another great story in The Witches of Canyon Road series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to all lovers of paranormal romance/suspense stories. Even though you could read this book as a stand-alone, the story will make better sense if you start off with Book 1 and then sequentially read each of the other books in the series. “An Ill Wind” is filled with adventure and peril as Tony and Cassandra take it upon themselves to retrieve the stolen grimoires. Read along and you’ll be caught up in their quest as they set out on their mission to the surprising conclusion of this book. I can’t wait for the next book in this series and am keeping my fingers crossed that someone will save the surprising Gabriel Escobar. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

Another wonderful read from Christine Pope in the Witches of Canyon Road series. As with the other books in the series, this can be read as a stand alone as she explains the basics of the other books in the new book. This time we learned more about Tony Castillo, who happens to be Rafe’s cousin.

Finally we deal more with the books that have haunted the Castillo clan since the first book in this series. We follow Tony and Cassandra Sandoval, of the de la Paz clan, as they reclaim the stolen books. The pair must work together in search of the books and as they get to know one another they begin to fall for each other.

A great read that was enjoyable, Tony was one of those characters that I enjoyed in the other books. I found this book to be wonderful, so I highly recommend. I did receive an ARC.

Chalk up another winner for Christine Pope! As much as I anticipated the release of “Ill Wind”, I was delighted at the unexpected we have come to expect from Pope. Tony starts out much as we would have thought, not very motivated to achieve a great deal in life, continuing to cloister himself in the party-man persona he has nurtured throughout his adult years. Cassandra, however, is an all business firecracker from another clan, sent to retrieve the grimoires. Things did not happen as planned and Tony and Cassandra become united in an unplanned journey spanning two states and three countries. Along the way, you guessed it, Tony is forced to take a serious look at who he is and Cassandra finds herself changing her mind about a certain warlock. Another “witches” book not to be missed.

Tony Castillo has the whole playboy persona down pat. He doesn't have to work due to a large inheritance but he is finding the whole party-go-ground a bit...frivolous and downright boring!

Cassandra Sandoval should have been a cop like her father, Jack. She is a bit of a Miss Marple - she totally missed her calling! When what should have been a quick bag-tag and drag magical books home turned into a whirlwind journey across countries, She finds out what really lies beneath the perfect playboy persona that Tony presents to the world!

Louisa is back in all her bitchy glory and Tony's sister, Ava, seems to be a...shall we say type a personality lol. As usual, there are a lot of twists, turns and red herrings. Sometimes your best ally starts out as your enemy!

OMG!! I soooo hope Gabriel will b ok and safe asap!! Hopefully he'll get 2 b in another clan 2 fight his bro asap!! It's really good that Gabriel isn't like the others and he didn't hurt Tony's mom badly or kill her like others would have. Even though they decided 2 keep secrets from the other so they can explore they both found out that their love was there between them and unexpected but it's really good that they don't want 2 give up what they have 2gether. Hopefully in near future they could save Gabriel like he did 4 them asap!! The prima of calf is being a bitch but she shouldn't have taken it out on them. I soooo can't wait 4 more asap!! I love this series!! Hopefully it'll NEVER end!!

This is the 6th book in the Witches of Canyon Road series and I found it less engaging than the previous books. I thought Tony was too laid back for the adventurous Cassandra and the journey they chose to undertake. He just seemed “along for the ride”. Cassandra was a go getter and was a more take charge person while Tony was just kind of drifting thru life in general. I appreciated the glimpses into previous book’s characters. I look forward to Ava’s book next and hope there is a book for Gabriel cause he was the most compelling character of this book.

An Ill Wind (The Witches of Canyon Road Book 6) by Christine Pope
A set of grimoires that contain dangerous spells with black magic are stolen. Cassandra was sent to pick them up and take them back to the de la Paz clan. Tony’s family, the Castillo clan, had been protecting them. When they find Tony’s mother incapacitated and the books gone, Tony and Cassandra go in search of them. Adventure leads to romance and fun. It was fun to see offspring of beloved characters.

Suspenseful!

I as always I wasn’t able to put the book down! I don’t want to give anything away but the ending was a huge cliffhanger I want to know more about and I can’t help but hope the next book who will be a part of that story! Thank you Christine for always keeping us happy!

Another installment in the Witches of Canyon Road series. I liked the continuation of the story of the grimoires, and thought overall the story line was engaging. I didn't care for Tony or his lack of motivation. Cassandra was a more interesting character to me. Overall I do enjoy the Witches series and am always glad to get to read another.

Canyon road

I really enjoy this new series which is a follow on from the older series but has extended family members in it.
I'd love to hear more of how those extended family are doing, somewhere within the stories.

Hair raising

I found this book intense at times and I think the book went a bit to fast. But it was another good read.
