This is book is from an online web series with new chapters coming out to this day (2022), written, drawn, and fundraised for physical production by the author Shizamura herself.
It's a sci-fi war drama with elements of espionage and historical/cultural references mainly pertaining to Portugal, and it's worth a read.

If you're familiar with comics in these genres, they can be a slow burn, as the introductions here and in other similar works were the first baby steps into then letting us jump into a larger scope within the story. The reason I say this is because the introduction to the story will be a slow burn, but opens up soon to bigger plot points, without holding our hand and just outwardly spoon feeding us what will become the future of the characters outright.

The art style of the series embodies techniques and visuals from a diverse row of inspirations, and the artist shows us this many times. From muted colors almost like an old western fantasy comic book, to outright colorful, surrealistic elements, to different presentations in it's paneling and framing choices. The comic shows you the artist took advantage of it's digital medium to supply readers with interesting elements to look upon, that avoided the more formulaic "weekly comics/manga/manhua" panels.

There are many reasons why one should check out and purchase this comic, if not for it's story, art design and presentation, then also for the fact that Portuguese comics of this scope and size who aim to create their own personal world are still very rare and few, fewer even those that can achieve physical publication outside of common journalistic printed media.

I've been following this webcomic for a while and recently backed up the author's fundraiser for a physical print! Personally it's always a please to be able to hold a copy of a work you love in your hands, but I digress.

The premise of the comic is very interesting from a sci-fi point of view, which I'll copy and paste here: "An ancient satellite falls into enemy territory. The Kirchhoff brothers, Mikhail and Nikita, are dispatched along with a small team of soldiers to collect the remains of this relic." and everything goes ballistic from there!

The introduction is quite slow however, but it allows you to familiarize yourself with the characters, which are many and quite varied, and to become acquainted with their interpersonal relationships which is VERY necessary for what comes next. I'm very glad I stuck with it because the way everything develops is quite interesting and surprising.

The author also feeds us little tidbits of lore, instead of spoon feeding us, which I quite appreciate because it allowed for me to put certain puzzle pieces together. Shizamura also offers us a culturally rich comic set in the Iberian peninsula which enriches the whole story.

As for the cherry on top, Shizamura was able to take advantage of the webcomic media to gift us with incredible graphics/gifs that emphasize the narrative and this is something that cannot be done via book printing, bravo!

I'm quite enjoying this journey and I hope others can join as well!
