Book 4-Swag in Savannah
Carlita Garlucci is thrilled that her son, Tony, has arrived in Savannah to help with the opening of their new pawnshop, "Savannah Swag." While giving her son a tour of the property, they stumble upon a hidden trap door that leads to an undiscovered basement with a tunnel.
Curious to find out where the tunnel leads, Tony breaks through the wall and discovers secret passageways rumored to have been used by pirates to smuggle their stolen goods into the historic city. While exploring the tunnel, the Garlucci family finds skeletal remains with ties to a darker secret that has been hidden behind the tunnel walls for decades.
The gruesome discovery causes Carlita to wonder what other secrets her property holds. Despite her insistence they reseal the tunnel, Carlita’s children convince her to leave it open long enough for them to explore the passageways as they attempt to solve a decades old mystery.
They quickly discover that the secrets hidden underground are tied not only to the previous owners of her property, but also implicate Carlita's deceased husband, Vinnie.
Will Carlita and her children be able to clear Vinnie's name, or will their snooping around incriminate him even more?
Book 5-Trouble in Savannah
The Garlucci family business “Savannah Swag,” is finally open, and business is brisk. Carlita is happy with the way her son Tony is managing the pawnshop and their new part-time employees, so she can focus on renting out their last vacant apartment.
When a mysterious man shows up on her doorstep with wads of cash, offering to pay the deposit and first months’ rent and even offers to sweeten the deal with some extra cash, Carlita is tempted. She quickly discovers that the man is not all he seems to be.
Soon after, a string of local burglaries hits the historic Savannah area and the Garlucci family’s worst nightmare comes true when their store is robbed at gunpoint!
Desperate to stop the crime wave that seems to be targeting their family, Carlita and Mercedes rush to figure out who’s behind the trouble in Savannah before it turns deadly.
Book 6-Missing in Savannah
When Carlita Garlucci’s annoying tenant, Elvira Cobb, turns up missing, Carlita and her daughter spring into action and begin looking for clues to her whereabouts.
They soon discover a mysterious message on Elvira’s answering machine. The message is from a man with possible NY mob ties. They fear that Elvira has put all of their lives in jeopardy after the mysterious man is found floating face down in the Savannah River.
Carlita’s fear turns to bone-chilling horror when she realizes the man’s killer isn’t after Elvira…he’s after her! Armed with more clues and help from a friend, Carlita and Mercedes head out to nearby Tybee Island to continue their search at a historic fort with a rumored pirates’ past.
In Made in Savannah Cozy Mysteries Box II Hope Callaghan weaves descriptive passages of Savannah history with clues of Savannah's underground in three page turning cozy mysteries - book 4, 5, & 6. Book 4 features underground tunnels, pirates, hidden gems, a troublesome tenant, and colorful suspects. Will Carlita finally be able to fulfill her husband's dying wish and have her sons Tony and Vinnie leave the family business? Three delightful, well-crafted stand alone reads featuring tasty recipes and more. Book 5 includes the southern favorite Hummingbird Cake. Hope Calleghan developed a delightful cast of characters: an adventurous senior sleuth, a practical son, a capable daughter, some intriguing tenants and a few dedicated employees. The plot races with unexpected surprises and twists. I enjoyed Carolita motto for an enjoyable life, One day at a time. Callaghan wraps up the mystery, but has just enough foreshadowing to want more. In Book 6 Hope Callaghan weaves suspense and historical facts to solve the mystery of missing Elvira, Carlita's least favorite tenant. Well developed and intriguing characters, suspenseful plot, and historical Savanah setting are the reasons why the Made in Savannah mysteries are a delightful and intriguing read.
What do you get when you mix mafia, hidden jewels, a mafia widow and her 4 adult children ? You get a great read about their experiences. Carlotta is the mother that promised her dying husband she would get their sons out of the "business". She has some success with that but one gets deeper in involved. Mercedes, the daughter becomes a best selling author and Carlotta doesn't know how to feel about that. The family opens a pawn shop and tries to become successful business owners. The books are set in Savannah, Georgia, and I feel as though each story is a trip i get to make there. I highly recommend these books. There is no foul language, and they prove you do not need sex to write great stories!!!!!!
Carlita, Mercedes and Tony have gone south to be free from the New York mob they were drawn into, but staying out of trouble, well that's a lost cause. Opening a pawn sho for Tony to run honestly, brings its own set of problems. Bodies are still popping up,and the trip still worried about the mob making trouble.
Really great to follow the different characters as the story unfolds. Elvira is a crazy character that gets herself into more trouble, and has the potential of dragging others along with her. Wish there was a Book Set III and IV. It’s nice to be able to get 3 books at a time. Looking forward to seeing what happens next to the family.
This second series of books is even more intriguing and suspenseful than the first set of three. Hope is excellent at keeping readers glued to all these adventures and misadventures of Carlita, Mercedes and even Elvira. All the characters are growing on me. Looking forward to the next books.
This was a great collection of cozy mysteries. It was filled with interesting storylines and a diverse cast of characters. This collection is recommended for those who love cozy mysteries.
I generally like the way Hope writes but she does need a more attentive editor. Besides that, the books she writes are good mysteries and clean books which I truly appreciate.
I had read the first boxed set of these, and was looking forward to reading these. I definitely was not disappointed. I was thoroughly entertained, plus I love the city. Now I'm going to get the next set.
Not especially compelling but enjoyable. So far I’ve only read book 4. It would have been a bit better to have read the first 3 books but not really necessary
Great character development...fast moving...wanted to read more...good descriptions of Savannah and the water front. Loved the relationship between mother and kids
This is an intriguing series. Ex mafia family moves from New York to Savannah to escape their clutches, only to end up embroiled in all sorts of trials and tribulations. Great fun.
This box set includes books four through six in Hope Callaghan’s Made in Savannah Cozy Mysteries series. This is a clean cozy mystery featuring no gratuitous sex, violence, or foul language. The mysteries are well plotted and interesting, the characters well development, and the storylines hold the reader’s interest. I love Ms. Callaghan’s writing style and once again, she has succeeded in writing a wonderfully crafted whodunit, mixed with family, friendship, compassion, and intrigue.

In the fourth book, Swag in Savannah, Carlita is thrilled that her middle son, Tony, has arrived in Savannah to help her and her daughter, Mercedes, prepare to open their pawnshop, and is hopeful he'll decide to stay. When Tony learns there is a basement and that a neighborhood business owner had told Carlita he thought he saw someone walking around inside the building, he decides they need to check things out. While in the basement, Tony sees something in the interior of a cabinet, and after removing the cabinet, finds a nailed down cutout that leads to the basement. They find boxes with interesting contents, skeletal remains of someone, and passage into a tunnel system underneath the city. Carlita also discovers a few things about Elvira, her troublesome tenant.
In the fifth book, Trouble in Savannah, Carlita, Tony, and Mercedes are pleased that their newly opened pawnshop, Swag in Savannah, is getting lots of customers and are hopeful their business venture will be a success. Carlita is disappointed that her oldest son, Vinnie Jr., has returned to New York, is actively looking for a tenant for the apartment she’d hoped he would move into, and is busy planning a dinner party for her new friends, tenants, and Walton Square neighbors and business owners. When a customer comes in claiming he sees items for sale that were stolen from his home, the Garlucci family is devastated, and when the same thing happens again, Tony begins to question his ability to run the pawnshop.
In the sixth book, Missing in Savannah, Carlita becomes concerned when no one has seen or heard from her troublesome tenant, Elvira Cobb, in several days. Carlita learns that Elvira has been hiding out in Fort Pulaski, believing she’s hot on the trail of smugglers and close to finding the gems her new client, Lou Franco, asked her to locate. When Lou Franco's body is discovered floating in the Savannah River, Carlita begins to worry that the missing gems are the ones they recently found in a crate in their basement and that the mob may be on to them.
