As a vampire-human hybrid, Sabrina is used to being different from the rest of her community. But all vampires need to feed. The night she chooses Tobias as her next meal, everything changes. He’s far more than he seems, and if she doesn’t protect his secret, it could cost him his life.

It takes a monster to know a monster…

One kiss thrusts Tobias into the dark underground world of Chicago’s vampires, where his dragon nature is his only hope of protecting Sabrina. But Sabrina knows the only way to keep him safe is to push him away.

This was a really good read, I didn't enjoy this quite as much as its predecessor but that was mainly to do with the central characters who I didn't take to quite as much as Raven and Gabriel, but more of that later.
This was great it followed on nicely from "The Dragon of New Orleans" this also seemed to have more of an urban fantasy than a paranormal feel to it which was slightly different from book one.
This was told from multiple viewpoints and it was great to catch up with past characters.
This is a series that does need to be read in order as there is an ongoing story arc flowing throughout.
So this one centres on the brother Tobias who we were introduced to previously and Sabrina a human/vampire hybrid who is the sole heir to her vampire coven in Chicago.
Both these two are human carers Tobias a doctor and Sabrina a nurse but as individual personalities, I really wasn't much of a fan.
Tobias did eventually grow on me but I did find Sabrina much more of a hard sell.
Tobias is meticulous, extremely black and white and very single-minded, I also didn't like the way he seemed to be pining after Sabrina and felt she held all the cards (and used them) in this partnership.
sabrina at times for me came across as quite self-serving and selfish and I didn't really take to her at all.
So thank god for the inclusion of Gabriel and Raven they saved the day here for me love these two so much.
I also really liked where this eventually went in terms of story progression and the next instalment here looks super interesting as well.
This has lots to recommend it and though it didn't quite have the same impact on me as book one did I still very much enjoyed myself and am onboard and looking forward to the next thrilling instalment in this imaginative series.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Windy City Dragon (The Treasure of Paragon, #2).

Narrated by Rock Engle each book in this series features the romance of one of the Paragon dragon siblings and we learn more about their escape/exile from Paragon. There is plenty of suspense both in the overall series ARC and the individual arcs as each finds their mate.

This story belongs to Tobias who unlike Gabriel hasn’t kept a hoard, or embraced his dragon side. in fact he has lived fully as a human and is respected pediatric cardiologist.

In the hospital he meets Sabrina. Who isn’t human but able to live in the sun and feed off both blood and energy. She is also the daughter of a very dangerous supernatural.

This tale was action packed and brought a lot of change to Tobias’s life. Raven and Gabriel arrive, since they are in hiding and his feelings for Sabrina are awaking his inner beast. Jack builds suspense using the forbidden troupe, enemies from within and cursed objects.

I got a little frustrated by the lack of communication between characters, but it wasn’t drawn out and at least felt genuine. The romance was both sweet and heated.

The tale had a nice balance between discover, romance and action. It kept me engaged and eager for more books in the series.

Dragons are thought to be extinct and the Vampire’s Forbears have ordered them to dangerous to exist. Forces in Paragon don’t want Tobias or his siblings alive. We learn how many siblings there are on earth and set out to find the next before this tale wraps up.

Rock Engle does a wonderful job with the different characters and added another level of enjoyment to this tale. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

Dragons and vampires and witches oh my! The adventure continues to grow in the second installment of this series. Starting right on the heels of where the first book left off Windy City Dragon starts off with a bang and continues to get more and more exciting on every page. This book is a nonstop ride of action, suspense and romance and the growing world of this series is something that is definitely shaping up to be epic.
Tobias is the complete and total opposite of his brother Gabriel, who was the hero of the previous book. Rigid, stuck on his ways and honestly somewhat in denial of who he is. Unlike Gabriel who wears his dragon ways proudly Tobias has deeply buried who he is. When his world is turned upside down by a kiss from a nurse in the hospital where he works who happens to be hiding her own truth his carefully hidden world begins to crumble.
I don’t want to give anything away so details will be sparse, but things are continuing to grow from where they were left before in this book. I loved that Raven and Gabriel were such a part of Tobias and Sabrina’s story and cannot wait to see what’s coming for the next sibling in this series!

Windy City Dragon by Genevieve Jack
The Treasures of Paragon series #2. Dragon shifter and vampire mob romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but there is an overall arc for the series that is expanded with this book.
Tobias is an old dragon living as a human pediatric cardiologist doctor in Chicago. He meets Sabrina when she feeds from Tobias and tries to make him forget her. But her vampire mind skill doesn’t work on the dragon and he’s drawn into her life and the underground mob life.

Sabrina is supposed to take over for her father, the mob boss. Her father has made sure she has the skills and loyalty to rule the coven. Tobias will need his dragon to make it out of underworld he finds himself in and use his skills to help Sabrina.

Dark and gritty with a bit more mob action than I prefer but it was fun for me to imagine an underground mob in Chicago, since that’s my hometown. Their romance grows as fast as the danger. Sabrina is strong and takes a lot of the alpha role here. I loved Tobias helping the little girl with a magic unicorn necklace when he couldn’t save with his skills.

Looking forward to reading more of this dark dragon shifter series.

Dr. Tobias Winthrop, renowned pediatric cardiac surgeon, lives and works in Chicago, IL though the irony is lost on all but him. With a core temperature of 113 degrees, cold, snow, and wind, have little effect on him but dragons weren't created to live in the cold so his inner dragon wants a warm volcano temperature locality. Tough. His mother saved he and his siblings lives on Paragon with the warning that for their ongoing safety and protection they need to live separately away from each other on Earth which is why he landed up in Chicago.

When Gabriel & Raven come to town asking for his help, it's with the understanding Tobias will listen and help if he can only if they agree to leave ASAP and never return. Their mother's instructions were clear: live apart from your siblings and never return to Paragon if you want to live.

Nurse Sabrina Bishop has all the best qualities a nurse can possess, going over and above to help her patients get well. She gives the best care possible which is ironic as she's a vampire/human hybrid and royal heir to Chicago's vampire community. Once her father steps down she will be Queen to vampires who feel humans are mere cattle and all other paranormals have no right to live in their territory.

History and paranormal law is clear: dragons and vampires, just as dragons and witches, cannot become mates. It's forbidden as the consequences would be fatalistic.

* * *

In this the second installment in the " Treasures Of Paragon" series, the story line picks up in Chicago where Gabriel's brother has been living. Tobias had a minor role in The Dragon of New Orleans so he's not an unknown.

Tobias & Sabrina. Doctor/nurse. Dragon/vampire. I appreciated and enjoyed their romance though their angst and baggage issues got in the way. hehehe. Regardless, the twists and turns made for an enjoyable reading experience. And. For those on a need to know basis. While the romance scenes have some heat and go further than the previous installment, I categorize the intensity as steamy but not erotica (though I think some may feel erotic threshold was reached).

Secondary characters. Gabriel & Raven return in a secondary role that helps to put more pieces in the ongoing series plot puzzle. Not a spoiler (for this book) that mommy dearest had not been truthful and didn't love her children as much as they thought. The focus then turns into finding each of the eight siblings who have not kept in touch with each other. I guess that means there will be at least eight installments in this series, the next featuring sister Rowan. Other characters do support the world building and main characters, some more than others.

This is a book/story/series that goes more into the realm of angst issues that challenge the couples into fighting for their ability to be together along with a plot series dilemma that will ultimately result in an epic battle for the parallel Paloma universe throne but not until all the characters are featured in their individual stories....

Windy City Dragon (The Treasure of Paragon #2) by Genevieve Jack
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
Oh baby!! EEEP!! Paranormal is so my jam!! When I grabbed book one, I really liked it and the world that was created. Holy Moly!! This book was even BETTER!!
I was loving the fact Gabriel and Raven were still very present in Tobias and Sabrina’s love story. It was exciting to see Gabriel and Tobias dealing with their past and presents colliding.
Tobias is a typical dragon. He lives alone and follows the old laws of his land. He is happy living as a human and ignores his dragons needs and wants. All of this changes when a certain vampire kisses the heck outta him not knowing he is a dragon but thinking he is a mere human.
Tobias, the rule follower, is afraid of what he feels and what is happening in his very meticulous world when he falls in love when Sabrina. A love that is absolutely banned in both of their species and worlds.
Sabrina is confused and miserable. She doesn’t want to become the coven Master, but she was groomed for it and so taking over the “family business” is expected. However, how cha she keep Tobias safe from all the power hungry vampires she will be ruling when his existence is not to be allowed.
These two have A LOT to deal with like Gabriel and Tobias mother is coming after her children, someone is trying to kill Sabrina to take over the coven plus what the heck is up with Raven???
I loved this story and had the hardest time putting it down to do real life stuff like cooking dinner for my family…gesh just order a pizza already!! I fell so hard for Tobias. He is such a hopeless romantic stuck in the body of a moody dragon. LOL Sabrina is such a fierce vampire and her bond with him is so strong that even she is stunned by how deep her feelings run.
I loved the last chapter and seeing what is happening. I am excited to meet the only female dragon sibling in the next book. She seems like she will be a handful but YIKES at what also was revealed. The siblings are definitely going to be looking over their shoulder for MULTIPLE enemies!!!

I liked the first book more. The passion between Tobias and Sabrina was a bit more subdued here and their connection wasn't as clear. I am also finding it difficult to imagine their life together in the vampire den. Raven and Gabriel sort of insinuated themselves into Tobias's life, but I enjoyed the brothers' reconnecting and Raven's antics. The mystery surrounding their mother and the current state of events in Paragon are simultaneously a bit clearer and not. The story seems to be leading us in a specific direction, but that may be a red herring. I will definitely read the rest of this series.

The Treasure of Paragon is a fabulous series about eight dragon shifter siblings who are exiled to Earth from their home in an otherworld named Paragon. They are royalty, heirs to the Dragon throne, cast out during a deadly coup d’état that saw their uncle murder their eldest brother.

Book 2, Windy City Dragon, finds Tobias living in Chicago as a Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon, when his brother and future sister-in-law (Gabriel and Raven from Book 1) arrive to warn him that the evil that forced them out of Paragon is now hunting them on Earth. Tobias isn’t sure he believes them. Their news comes at an awkward time, as he has just that evening discovered that the hot nurse he has been flirting with for the past three years, Sabrina Bishop, is definitely some kind of supernatural.

Sabrina is a Vampire Princess, and her carefree days of pretending to be a fun and nurturing human nurse is coming to an end. Her father, the Coven Master, expects her to step up and take over the Chicago coven and, since vampires are lethally xenophobic towards other supernaturals, that will mean no more stolen kisses with her sexy dragon doctor. This second instalment gives us a darker, deadlier, more dominating heroine, but with a equally intense die-for-you-in-a-heartbeat protectively possessive dragon prince. It’s wonderfully well written, very exciting, and scorchingly romantic. I am captivated by these sexy dragons and their mates. (As if Raven has cast a binding spell over me!) Definitely earns a full 5 stars and a leap into Book 3.

I didn’t realize until I was nearly done with this (the second book) that the sex scenes are minimal. That means that there is enough substantive material to keep your attention without it just being a smut book. I didn’t like this as much as the first one but I’ll keep going!

this was amazing! i think i liked this one better than the first. Sabrina and Tobias are the perfect couple. And i love Sabrina's sense of duty and love of her people. But the biggest surprise was Sabrina's dad. How refreshing to have vampires that have real emotions and leaders that care about more than power. i can't wait to read more. i jost hope that the number of plots doesn't get so numerous that it gets hard to keep track of.

The Windy City Dragon blew right into my heart!
*****
Rating: 5 stars
Steam: 2 flames
Genre: PNR / Dragon Shifter
*****
The Windy City Dragon is Tobias’ tale. Tobias is an intelligent, logical perfectionist, a firm believer in rules, pediatric cardiologist, and most all...he has been living as a human for many years, refusing to acknowledge or release his dragon.

Sabrina, caring, nurturing, intelligent and strong, and a pediatric nurse with a secret. One that quickly becomes unveiled when the human-vampire hybrid decides she is going to kiss the good doctor and then erase his memory of it...only one thing, she can’t erase a dragon’s memory and that kiss sticks with both of them.

This story had a different FMC / MMC dynamic in my opinion. Tobias is not the aggressive fighter, he is not the most alpha, he is not in line to be the ruler of paragon. He is more logical, thoughtful, and felt more beta than alpha, that is…until he’s in protector mode and then he discovers a whole new side of himself.

Sabrina was the strongest character in this book, and it was refreshing to have a strong female lead. I appreciated that Sabrina didn’t change herself, her views, or beliefs just because she met a man and fell in love. She has a path that she must follow and that will come first and Tobias is going to just have to be there to back her up… FANTASTIC!

Gabriel and Raven are back and more of their story unfolds. Tobias has many issues to come to grips with, who he is, Paragon, Sabrina, and his relationship and beliefs towards Gabriel and Raven. Tobias will need to let his staunch and rigid beliefs go in order to be there for Gabriel and Raven and he will need to let his dragon out to protect Sabrina.

Once again, I was captivated by the fantasy, storyline, and characters in this book. My only focus was getting to the HEA and learning more about Paragon and the siblings. This was another fantastic addition to the series, and I look forward to Rowan's story, the baby sister of 8 dragon brothers. I just know she is going to be one tough cookie!

I definitely recommend and will keep reading this series!

I’m in LOVE with dragons!

I’ve always been fascinated with the creatures. Heck I have a tattoo of one that takes up half my back, but I’d never really been interested in the PNR style of romance...until now!

What caught my eye was the cover. Something about it spoke to me and I kept seeing new release announcements in my ebook/email subscriptions. So I added it to my Amazon wishlist. But it kept taunting me. So I pulled it up again and saw that book one was on sale. I figured, why not? So I one-clicked New Orleans Dragon and immediately fell in love with Gabriel and Raven. I devoured that book. Once I was done and totally blown away, I figured that I’d hold out for this one until it, too, went on sale. Well, I’m not known for my restraint or patience and couldn’t hold out for long. Not even an hour passed before I oneclicked this one, too.

And I was immediately thrust into Tobias and Sabrina’s worlds within the city of Chicago. And Gabriel and Raven were along for the ride as their love story was told. Sabrina was a strong heroine. A vampire hybrid she was raised to lead her coven and falling for a dragon was highly unexpected and extremely forbidden.

This love story with filled with turmoil as both Sabrina and Tobias struggled to find their place in each other’s world. Sabrina has so much responsibility on her shoulders and her first priority was to keep Tobias’s secret and him safe.

As the dragon siblings move on toward reuniting with the others they fight to protect one another as well as their newfound mates.

Lots of action in this book and I was captivated through to the end. Since I couldn’t hold out before starting this book, I don’t know how I’m going to remain patient for the next but...but I will. Because I NEED more!!

Poor Tobias! He has been existing among humans for a long time, without raising any suspicions as to his dragon side. Into his life come Raven and Gabriel seeking his help, again, and full of alarming news he cannot believe. Now, I have come to the conclusion that where Raven and Gabriel go, trouble follows.

To top everything else, the feelings he has had for Sabrina over the years has now blossomed into full love after just one stolen kiss. Little did he know that Sabrina is a half human and half vampire. Not only that, she is about to be crowned leader of her coven. This is a serious issue when there are those vampires who will not sit by quietly while a woman is raised to be their leader. Top that with their archaic rules that vampires in her coven will not allow any shapeshifters in the City.

The City of Chicago (and its tunnels!) will never be the same to me. Who knew we have a coven of vampires living and controlling the City right under our roads and homes! The writing is so believable, I promise you, the next time workers tear into our streets here (which will be any day now with Spring in the air) I will certainly try to get them to share their "underground" experiences with me.

I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.

Dragon shifter Tobias Winthrop has been pretending to be human (a pediatric cardio-thoracic surgeon) for so long that he barely remembers what it was like to be a dragon. But when his brother needed his aid he reluctantly helped him, even though Gabriel is breaking all of their laws and marrying a witch. What Tobias doesn't know is that the woman he's developing feelings for, nurse Sabrina Bishop isn't human either - she's the lone human-vampire hybrid in the city's mafia-like vampire clan, and when her father retires she's destined to take over. If she doesn't succeed her father, the evil vampire next in line will tear the city apart with his anti-human agenda.

There's a surprising amount of world-building for this being the second novel in the series. Book 1 was about dragons and witches, while this one delves into the world of vampires (who hate shifters of all kinds). The relationship between uptight Tobias and the more free-spirited Sabrina is great, and the conflict between their types of supernaturals (and the consequences that could befall the city if things go horribly wrong) adds another layer of urgency and seriousness to the novel. It's a great continuation of the first Dragon novel, and the mini-cliffhanger ending makes readers want to read the next book right away.

Windy City Dragon is the second book in The Treasure of Paragon series. This book revolves around Tobias, the brother of Gabriel, who we saw in the first book. I was intrigued by Tobias when I first read about him, as he was very different from Gabriel. He doesn't embrace his dragon like his brother does. He is a bit rough around the edges too. Until a nurse at his hospital tips his world upside down.

This book is a good read. I really enjoy paranormal romance. It ticks off several boxes for me, with dragons, vampires and witches to name a few. I was happy to see that Raven and Gabriel made an appearance in this book. The characters in this book are great and the action, romance, and the lil suspense thrown in gives us a really good story line as well.

I will be interested to see where this series goes next.

Dr. Tobias Winthrop is a caring pediatric surgeon in Chicago. He's also Gabriel's brother, a refugee dragon from Paragon. His need to cling to a "normal" life is greatly challenged when one of the nurses at the hospital kisses him one night and he realizes she's not fully human, either. Sabrina is hybrid vampire: half-human/half vamp and destined to become queen of her coven as her father's heir. But when Gabriel and Raven arrive in Chicago in the hopes of becoming a tighter family before their upcoming wedding, danger lurks around all four of them from several different angles. Each will be forced to face their responsibilities head-on if they have any hope of survival. I found this book to be a wonderful companion to the first in the series and eagerly look forward to the third.

The story is worth 4 but I listened to the audio book and though the narrator is good for male voices, his female voices are so unnatural and whiny i had considered not continuing with the audio-books for this series. Luckily #3 has an excellent female narrator who moves seamlessly between the male and female voices,

As much as I enjoyed Dragon of New Orleans, I loved Windy City Dragon even more. Tobias and Sabrina are **fire emoji** together, and their character growth as individuals and together is a delight. Plus, the book sets up tantalizing plot threads for stories to come. Just say yes to reluctant dragons and the vampire badasses who love them!

This was another fabulous story that I highly recommend that you find on audio. There are more dragons, a witch and so many vampires in Chicago. Dr. Tobias falls for Vampire heiress Sabrina who is going to be leading the Vampires. But did you know that Dragon's and Vampires are mortal enemies? There is the pull of what family wants vs what the heart wants. How to save one's fated mate when said fated mates think they can handle it on their own. Plus, the Dragon's are being stalked by an assassin from Paragon. This book is a cliffhanger and so I've already started on Book 3!

The second book in the Treasures of Paragon was a good read. The story centers around Tobias in Chicago. I found the story a little more angsty than the first book. Dragons and vampire hybrid yes please. This was an amazing story. Start with book one and it's easier to follow and just when you think there is a happy ending of sorts it leads into the next book and sibling. I can't wait to find out what the the old vampires do when they find the next sibling and what the first 2 and their mates do to protect them.

The second book in this series, and I have to say, I think I like this one even better than the first one. Could it be because it’s set in Chicago – and the aptly subscribed frigid winter? Probably not, but it didn’t hurt that it’s set in a city I love and go to whenever I get a chance. In book one, The Dragon of New Orleans, we met Gabriel and Raven. This outing, we are getting to know Gabriel’s brother Tobias, whom we did meet in book one. This dragon world that the author has created, has grown in leaps and bounds in this installment. Tobias has lived his life as a human doctor for centuries, denying his dragon, keeping it under tight control. Until a nurse - the human-vampire hybrid Sabrina - is put in danger and his dragon demands release to protect his “mate.”

Gabriel and Raven are back to help Tobias, and there is so much emotional growth from Tobias – that the reader is glued to the pages as they all become a family and fight for each other. The danger, suspense and romance kept me up late into the night, and makes me wish for a dragon of my own. Can’t wait for the next installment.
