Great book not only on designing your home but on all the feelings and frustrations that can go with it! Thanks so much for being real and showing that it is possible to do great things with small amounts of money. Loved your personal stories.

An interior design book that is about much more than just design.
Learn as much as you can and then acknowledge what you love without apology. You don’t need any excuse to love something and remember that you and your family are the ones interacting with this space every day. You don’t decorate for others; it is a personal investment.
This book was very well done, especially for an emerging author - and I've read a lot of interior design books. I loved the format; each chapter focused on what we can "make room" for in our homes: from cleanliness and organization to love and family. My favorite chapter was "Make Room for Style", which goes through different styles and includes beautiful examples of each. The author used examples and photos of her own home design throughout, and the images were gorgeous - I just wish there were more of them! I also appreciated her infusion of personal stories into the chapters, as well as the introduction at the beginning. While this book may cater more towards those with young children (like the author), there are numerous ideas that would apply to any prospective designer.
Your home will not be a good place because it is perfect; it will be a good place because you strive to create cleanliness, organization, function, soul, and authentic style and because you welcome others with open arms to enjoy it with you.
Most of all, the book is very inspirational, and helps the reader see where they have room for improvement, even if they can only make small changes.
My greatest hope for you, my reader, is that you feel uplifted and inspired from reading this book about how to create soul and style in your home. I like to picture you closing the book, standing up and saying, “Yes! I can do this!” And you can!

I really enjoyed reading this motivational book. It is way more than a declutter book or a decorating book. It can help you discover your own style and how to make your home a reflection of you and your values. It is about the home you create more than the house that holds your home. I think it would be especially inspiring to parents of young children.

I enjoyed Lucy's book because of the writing flowing as though she is talking directly instead of his the book She gives personal insight and examples from her life as she explains her ideas on decor style for a calm family life

Easy to read but rich in content

Interesting ideas
Loved this book , gave me some wonderful ideas and already been decluttering and sorting things out! Thank you Lucy, you've helped do what my family have tried for years....clean the cupboard under the stairs.

Numa altura em que procuro inspiração para decorar e organizar a minha nova casa, de forma intencional e que me transmita alegria diariamente, ler este livro trouxe-me muita tranquilidade.
É um livro de leitura simples, um ótimo guia para quem quer começar a tarefa, mas sente que precisa de umas pinceladas de know-how para se sentir mais confiante.
Ler o livro foi como se a autora fosse uma amiga mais velha, a conversar comigo e a ajudar-me nesta etapa importante da minha vida. O que mais gosto no livro é o facto de que não se trata somente de um manual com dicas de decoração de interiores, sobre que elementos colocar e que métodos utilizar para que esteticamente fique tudo harmonioso e coeso - este releva também que uma casa bonita é um lugar em que me sinta confortável e que transmita conforto e segurança aos que me importam, um lugar para criar memórias e onde essas memórias são representadas. A autora passa ao leitor com sucesso, a meu ver, que a melhor decoração é o amor que colocamos no ambiente em casa - o amor para nós, nutrindo o nosso ser, assim como o amor para a família e amigos, criando momentos de partilha e união - sendo que tal pode ser feito utilizando certos elementos decorativos e criando um espaço harmonioso através de cores e texturas, destralhando o que não nos faz falta, etc etc, mas que no final, é o sentimento inerente e a gratidão pelo que temos e por estarmos a criar um espaço para os nossos, que torna a casa um espaço com “estilo e alma”. Se tivermos paciência, todas as nossas ideias compor-se-ão. É um processo que pode ser demorado, mas estou confiante que compensará todo o tempo e dedicação!

great interior space decoration basics
Basically with this book one can learn the basics of interior space decoration. I really like how the author has shared her own experience with some budget decoration tips. Understanding the interior space design basic elements like focal point, scale, repetitions and etc are explained very well. Overall I recommend this book for any design enthusiast without background looking for tips on decorating own space this is a great read.
