For what it's worth, this would be impossible for me to understand if I weren't reading this in one go. It's kind of tricky as it is to keep track of who wants what and is collaborating with whom... this is all kinds of amazing though. I would love to see this as a movie.

The fact that this is still only halfway through the full story is making me nervous; what can possibly happen from here?? But I'm still hooked on this journey.

Akihito is really coming into his own, and I love the strangeness of him stepping outside of his noble life and experiencing so many firsts: shopping in the marketplace, drawing water for a bath, making tea, seeing the inside of a kitchen. He's trying incredibly hard to follow his own set of beliefs, and it makes him such a wonderful, honorable, interesting character.

The mutual sacrificing is getting intense, and I have no idea who's going to win. Akihito is determined to hand his title over to Katsuragi, and Katsuragi refuses to let Akihito waste his life and fade into obscurity. They're both brilliant and stubborn, and the reality is that they probably have to work together to accomplish a final solution. I'm not sure how I feel about the twist at the end, but maybe that's the key to it all: for either of them to take their place as the Kuze lord, the other would have to step aside, and their relationship would need to splinter.

There's an interesting parallel with Akihito's friend and the woman he loves and can never marry. These are some of the restraints put on people of noble blood, or higher classes. If they want to continue climbing the ranks and be accepted by the rich and powerful, they have to set aside personal feelings and live within restrictions that may leave none of them happy.

Akihito and Katsuragi may finally be realizing that their best option is to choose an entirely different path - together.

Their relationship is finally getting healthier and much more balanced. Perhaps my favorite panel this time around was Katsuragi mourning the rough state of Akihito's hands - something he would never let happen if he was there to take care of Akihito. This is love, slowly unspooling from what Katsuragi has kept so tightly wound up in his chest for all these years.

"There's no such thing as knowledge in vain. Everything will have a future use." -- Katsuragi

"I want to give the house to you. I wanted to grant you a place... a place you always wanted. That's the only thing I can give you. Nothing more..." Akihito

OMG, yesss, finallyyy he told Akihito!!!....and then, cliffhanger! Luckily I don't have to wait for the continuation. ;p

Akihito has moved into humble lodgings, occupying part of a house once owned by Ishizaki’s old housekeeper. As far as the servants at the manor know, he is staying at the Ishizaki villa. This is a brand new world for Akihito, who has no practical knowledge of how anything works, including such basics as using a sink or a stove. He has a lot to learn! The reason for downgrading his lifestyle is that Akihito plans to relinquish his title in favor of Katsuragi, which he confides to Ishizaki, even as he strongly impresses upon him that Katsuragi must not find out.

Akihito confronts Amamiya at the manor. Amamiya is surprised that Akihito bears him no animosity, considering that he has been working to ensure Katsuragi inherits the Kuze house, unaware that Akihito has the same goal. His surprise becomes even greater when Akihito makes Amamiya the new butler of the Kuze household. However, Akihito is adamant that Amamiya not use Katsuragi’s old room.

Katsuragi has taken on the task of instructing Ishizaki, as once he did Akihito. While discussing the arranged marriage for Ishizaki, Katsuragi reveals knowledge of ishizaki’s true love, a geisha, and tries to tell him that he can have both. Ishizaki laughs, saying that is what Kuze has said too, so why can’t the two of them manage to do that themselves? Katsuragi has no answer to that, and Ishizaki silently wishes he could do something to help the two of them.

Getting into an argument with Katsuragi, Ishizaki inadvertently lets on that Akihito has done something stupid because of his former butler. Learning the truth, Katsuragi goes to see Akihito in his new home, and Akihito serves him tea, while trying to gauge how much he knows. Akihito confesses to burning some bridges and the reason for doing so. Not surprisingly, a heated discussion between the two men ends with passion. The next day, Katsuragi is convinced he knows what he must do in order to save the Kuze house, but he must act quickly.

When Akihito returns to the manor, he is annoyed to learn Amamiya is in Katsuragi’s old room. But when he goes to confront him, he is surprised to find Katsuragi there as well. Amamiya leaves the two men alone, and they discuss the future of the Kuze house, which will necessitate their working together. Katsuragi makes the first move this time, and passion once more holds sway, which leads to a surprising admission on Katsuragi’s part.

It’s interesting to watch Akihito and Katsuragi go to such lengths, each for the other. It reminds me of The Gift of the Magi, in which a young couple each sacrifice something of value to them in order to give something of value to the other, but the sacrifices negate the gifts, leaving only the love. I’m hoping that’s how this turns out for these two. From the bottom of my heart, I want nothing more than for them to end up together, whether at the Kuze manor or somewhere else. I’m not sure they’re at that point, and it won’t be an easy road to happiness, but I believe they can do it. I love the passion between the two men, and the way Akihito doesn’t care about status or lack of it, he loves the man Katsuragi is and wants to be with him forever, even if he forfeits his own status and wealth to do so. Akihito is the seme in this relationship, and I wonder if Katsuragi’s accepting the role of uke is indicative of something in his past which we aren’t privy to yet. Only time will tell.

Ishizaki is proving to be a very good friend to Akihito. I have to believe his words spoken in anger to Katsuragi were simply a Freudian slip and that he wanted Katsuragi to do just what he did, in the hopes he would be able to talk some sense into Akihito. And now, with another candidate for head of the Kuze household looming on the horizon, what happens next remains to be seen. We’ll have to meet this other person to get a sense of his worth, or even his willingness to assume the Kuze title.

Wheels within wheels and a great deal of machination going on. Where will it end? No one knows. Loved this volume, can’t wait for the next one.

Sudah lama saya gak baca sesuatu yang bikin gak rela beranjak sebelum selesai baca. Yang artinya ini buku bagus.

Kalau banyak orang bilang ini termasuk list "the most depressing story", saya gak bisa gak setuju.

Duh, pengen ngoceh banyaaaaaaak, tapi saya ngeri spoiler nantinya.

Btw lagi, saya baru nyadar perubahan warna dasar sampulnya!

[ ★★★★,5 / 5 ]

"Both of them are the head of Kuze family, and they abandoned their position for each other."

The level of angst this sentence hold was IMMENSE.

This series started to be REAL GOOD. The plot shift was noticeably smoother. The plot and conflicts began to take more shape in the third volume, and in the fourth volume, everything became clear.

The build up (for the characters development and the conflicts) definitely took time, but it really worth all the troubles. The plot twist was unpredictable. It was ✨n i c e✨.

And I must say: I really really like Akihito's development (that started from volume three). Now I know all that whiny behavior was intended, so he will have a ✨ glorious ✨ developments in the future volumes. I'm starting to be fond him now. Plus, he started growing out his hair and I love his new look. Pretty.

Everything about this manga is literally perfect. The plot is sooo good and the last scene was so cute that I need to finish this series today. There was more development in their relationship and things are probably going to get really complicated about the heir of the Kuze family. I think this volume is better than the first one, which was lacking in a few areas ( let me admit that ). Also I find it funny that this manga started off as a non-consensual relationship, so it was pretty rapey but now they're both actually in love with each other and it's slowly becoming more of a consensual thing.

Wow! Things are so complicated for the MC snd ML! I love the MC’s development, he has become stronger and is confident in his actions. He can think ahead and see things for what they are. I really like the fact that he made sure to know the name of his staff and interacts humbly with them. He is not arrogant at all. I really find his character refreshing in a world were titled are valued above everything else. I’m glad for the MC’s friend, his personality also doesn’t change! The ending of this volume left me in shock! Can’t believe it! It took him long enough to admit it! I’m already anxious for next volume!

Oh this manga just keeps getting better. With tensions running high and secrets about heritage and birth being spilt, Blue Morning is a solid BL for readers. Not only does each individual volume deliver an interesting change in the relationship dynamics of master and servant, but it adds socio-political undertones that may or may not be historically accurate but make for a nice backdrop.

This is an interesting story because I really was not down with the first volume as that there were a LOT of icky power differentials between the main characters. But what I find really compelling is that the main character wants to remove those power differentials. It makes it more complex than meets the eye.

I was gonna give it a 4.5 but had to bump it up after the heart-wrenching last chapter. Ugh I can’t with those two.

On a serious note, I really really like the person Akihito has grown into, no matter how inconsistent the pacing may be. He’s become his own person and I’m excited for when Katsuragi will be too.

3.35! Akihito’s charac development is coming along nicely imo, the manner in which he handles himself and the changes he made to fit the environment, def glad to see.

also seeing katsuragi worry over Akihito’s hands hurt my heart,,, the sacrifices both are willing to make to keep the other happy

oh i can’t believe i forgot to mention how lovely the art is, esp for katsuragi’s design ^^

Zaczyna mnie to coraz poważniej zniechęcać.

Akihito and Tomoyuki are getting closer and closer to being on the same page. These fools. They love each other and are willing to do anything for the best of each other, even if it means sacrificing themselves. Anyway, I’m glad that Tomoyuki has completely come to terms with how he feels for Akihito, and they’ll be able to work together towards a common goal.

Omg that ending!!!!! Ugh I was crying with Akihito. Katsuragi has been cold and distant this whole series. He’s so serious and he definitely has resting bitch face real bad lol. So it felt insanely good to see him reciprocate the love!!!!!!!

to see akihito and tomoyuki go to such lengths for each other, separately, is very amusing. the thing we do for love issit?? one character here said "for merely a feeling of love", oh to be oblivious and never experience love and being loved in a compassionate way.
