Ashton Lennox's sister, Joanna, made a wonderful heroine! She was smart, savvy and very intelligent. She was the perfect lady for Laird Kincade.
Brock isn't a member of the League of Rogues...and that's a good thing. He's an upgrade and far sexier in a kilt! Brock fell for Joanna when he came to rescue his sister from from Ashton in book 4. They shared a kiss and he never forgot her.
Their romance was far better than the previous books in this series.
My only complaint was that Hugo, the villain, somehow convinced all the men of the ton to stay away from Joanna. That portion of the plot was never explained very well. Nor was it resolved.
A young lady who appears to have been dismissed by society as unworthy finds herself falling for a Scottish rogue - one that happens to be her sister-in-law's brother.
I liked the main characters, I just wanted more depth and intensity - the pacing was a little off when it came to their relationship development and events.
I did like the fact Brock sang, I could almost hear his voice each time he sang to Joanna.
I have to say one key issue I had was that the author never truly explained how the villain - Hugo, was able to convince
There were moments in this that were almost tantalisingly delightful but such moments never truly came to fruition. A nice enough one time read, it just didn't have me sighing in delight, there were moments where it almost happened but then things would fizzle.

Series: League of Rogues #10 Publication Date: 3/18/19 Number of Pages: 283
Another great addition to the League of Rogues series. This one features the fabulous Brock Kincade whom we met in Ashton Lennox’s book, Wicked Rivals. Our heroine is Ashton’s sister Joanna and our hero is the brother of Ashton’s heroine, Rosalind. So – it is a family affair! It is a wonderful read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love that all of Rosalind’s brash, handsome, irrepressible brothers will get their own books – and I hope Ashton’s brothers will as well.
At twenty-years-old, Joanna Lennox has endured three seasons without anyone showing any interest whatsoever. The men don’t even seem interested in dancing with her much less courting her. What in the world is wrong with her? She just doesn’t understand it. She isn’t ugly, she has a large dowry, she’s intelligent and has all of the skills required for running a large home – so, why isn’t anyone – even a fortune hunter – interested in her?
I loved the opening scene in the book. Joanna is in the library late in the evening when she sees a tall man, dressed in dark clothes, entering the room. She doesn’t recognize him, but he says he is Rosalind’s brother – then, he kisses her senseless and ties her up. He’s there to ‘rescue’ his sister from the evil clutches of Ashton.
To say that there is no love lost between Brock and Ashton is putting it mildly. However, Ashton has to suck it up and tolerate Brock – at least until the wedding is over – because Brock is walking Rosalind down the aisle. However, when Ashton catches Brock alone in a room with Joanna, kissing her, with his hand up her skirt, Ashton goes berserk and orders him from the house. What Ashton doesn’t know is that Brock is determined to marry Joanna – not for her money (though that is a plus), but because he wants her - the real her.
Given Ashton’s animosity toward Brock, he and Joanna decide to go to Gretna Green to marry over the anvil. They have to be crafty in order to escape without Ashton and the League managing to overtake them. On that trip, Joanna discovers strengths and bravery she never knew she possessed. They slept outdoors and were even kidnapped by highwaymen, yet she never complained and moved forward. Even when her brother caught up with them, she stood up to him and faced him down. Joanna turns out to be quite a heroine.
Brock Kincade, along with his brothers and sister grew up in one of the most abusive homes I’ve ever read in a story. His father was extremely abusive and violent. Brock is so afraid that he’s like his father that he won’t allow himself to be violent in any way – even when he’s attacked, he only does the minimum to protect himself. Brock’s father did some despicable things and betrayed some of the Highland clans. Those clans haven’t forgotten what happened and some have transferred that animosity to Brock. Who are the hidden enemies at the castle? Are they after Brock or Joanna – or both?
You really need to read this delightful series – including this book. The characters are wonderful – you’ll fall in love with all of them as you read the books. Joanna and Brock are both wonderful characters and I can’t wait to see their siblings get their own books.
BTW – I read the Whispersync version of this book so I listened to the audio as well as reading. The narrator, Heather Wilds, has a wonderful range of ‘voices’ and I thoroughly enjoyed listening. Her Scots brogue was wonderful to hear – especially the Gaelic ballads – I loved those.
No real conflict, which is a nice change after reading the books in this series.
The main villains, Hugo Waverly and David Sheffield, weren’t prominent in this book, which I also appreciated the break.
I would recommend reading Wicked Rivals if you don’t want spoilers for the ending of that book. The hero and heroine first met and kissed in that book as well (from his POV). The scene is recalled in detail in the first chapter of this book but from the heroine’s POV.
I am not satisfied with just 278 pages... 🤭🤭🤭 More much more!!! 🥰❤🥰 #BoaLeitura! #GoodReading! 🎀📚🎀

Love—-loved this book. This series could go forever and I would love it. Joanna and Brock’s story is probably one of the best of the series—-although, trust me—-they are all delightful. Me. Smith writes tantalizing books that lock you in almost instantly and don’t let you go until the last page gets read. On top of that - her stories stay with you because they are GOOD! Great characters. Wonderful plot lines. And lots of action. The rogues are all here in this book. Cannot wait for book eleven.
Joanna Lennox is a fine bred English lady. She's pretty, intelligent, witty and...on the shelf. Brock Kincade knows better than to go around kissing English ladies in dark libraries. Especially when a lady is the little sister of the man who will shortly be his brother-in-law.
Does Brock want Joanna for herself or for her dowry to save his crumbling castle? Will this man ever love her because she only wishes to marry for love.
Brock and Joanna's story is compelling, exciting and a real page turner. I loved this pair from the start and remembered Joanna from previous books. The race to Greta Green doesn't end this story though; it is only the beginning. I gave this book 4.75 of 5.0 stars for plot, story line and characterization. The sensual nature of the story makes it enjoyable. I read a complimentary ARC of this book provided by the author. This in no way affected my opinion of this tale which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
One of Mad about Series 2023 books. It is the 10th in the Series. The H is Brock Kincaid, the new Earl (brother to Rosiland) and the h is Joanna Lennox (sister to Ashton).
✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

After that single kiss, which he can’t forget he knows he wants her as his wife. The pair steal away & flee to Gretna Green but Ashton & the League of Rogues are in pursuit. Another page turning, captivating read that had me reading well into the night to finish. This book could be read on its own but I’d recommend reading the whole of this brilliant series & to be picky I’d read this after reading Ashton & Rosalind’s story. As ever the author brings the characters alive, I loved both Brock & Joanna, he has his insecurities but with Joanna’s love & help finally realises he's not his father. Joanna is strong & feisty & I loved the encounter after their shopping expedition. The story flows extremely well & I was drawn in from the start & gripped until the end. My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
"A perfect kiss?" Joanna Lennox knew there was no such thing. Of course at twenty years old, she was unkissed, uncourted and utterly alone. But that was about to change as a Scotsman came into her library and kissed her senseless! What? Oh yes, talk about a story grabbing hold in the first few pages!! Then, a broodingly handsome, dangerous Scot, Brock Kincade, who was the brother of her future sister in law, stepped into her life and changed everything! What could be better than a handsome Scot and one who asked her to marry him? But what about love? A delicious, sigh worthy story that I could not put down once I started. Other characters in the League made their appearances, of which Joanna's brother was a member. Prepared to be enchanted and even a little emotional as Joanna and Brock (yes one of my favorite names!) try to find their happy ever after!!
Romance is an adventure. Smith takes us on a magical ride of fiery heroines, roguish heroes and the twists that follow them to their happy ending. The beauty of a Lauren Smith novel is her skill at making not always likable people into the most lovable characters. Never Kiss a Scot is an unpredictable tale of love, lust and mystery. From the glimpse of old acquaintances to the tango of hearts that Brock and Joanna dance, Never Kiss a Scot is a passion that will scorch and I loved the burn.
Brock and Joanna must face the prejudices of their family and social circles as well as their own biases, doubts, and fears about themselves, each other, and the meaning of marriage to discover the true nature of love.
Read this straight through, could not put it down. Such a lovely story. Joanna was feisty and Brock was a darling. I loved reading this book and the series so far. Glad there's more to come. Nothing lower than 5☆.
This was such a fun read! I have been listening to the audiobooks of the League of Rogues series and was excited to experience the story between Brock and Joanna. I love that Lauren Smith uses foreshadowing in earlier books so that we already know the background of how Joanna and Brock meet. And any couple that meets in a library has my vote! 🤣 We also got a setting change from the other books, and we journey onto the windswept moors of Scotland as we got to know the main couple. For the first time in this series, we also got to live through a harrowing ride to Gretna Green and I loved the realistic development of this couples relationship. Really excited to read the rest of this series, and definitely recommend it to any Regency romance lovers.
This book was everything I wanted and more! I didn’t realize it came out earlier this year or I would have read it sooner. I have been waiting for Joanna and Brock’s story. From beginning to end, so much kissing, feels and such strong characters. Loved it and can’t wait to see what is in store for Brock’s brothers.
I have read and enjoyed all of the League of Rogues books so far. As the 'main' league characters have all had their stories and now we are moving onto some of the related characters. This time we have Brock (Rosalind's brother) and Joanna (Ashton's sister). I think that this book comes chronologically after Ashton and Rosalind's story, so before some of the other books in the series. It's a while since I read Wicked Rivals . While Never Kiss a Scot works as a standalone novel, it does start with something that I think happened in Wicked Rivals. If you haven't read it recently, you might want to go back and re-read that one first, but it doesn't really matter. Joanna and Brock are quite sweet together. There is the obvious worry and resistance that often happens in romance books, but of course, they win through. Joanna isn't some wilting wallflower and is more than happy to stand her own and be equal to Brock. There is a little bit of the Disney style depiction of Scotland that many romance books seem to have. It is a little irritating, but I can forgive that for an enjoyable story. This was another enjoyable installment in the League of Rogues stories and I'm looking forward to reading the next story to come out of this series.
IT WAS OKAY. IM HAPPY TO SEE OLD CHARACTERS MAKING AN APPEARANCE HERE BUT OTHERWISE THE STORY WAS SMOOTH SAILING AND A TAD PREDICTABLE WITH ALMOST ZERO CONFLICT.
HERO is Rosalind's big brother and i did so enjoy the opening of the story which reflects ONE MONTH AGO where he kisses our heroine in her own home, tie her up and abduct his sister from beneath Ashton's nose. Clearly our heroine is pissed. Now, Brock is back for his sister's wedding but he won't go back empty handed. He wants a wife and he wants our heroine. Brock is gruff and sweet, the almost perfect hero you won't even have need to complain about.
HEROINE has gone three seasons without a suitor. She doesn't know what's wrong. She's pretty, smart and wealthy...why is no one clamouring for her attention? When everyone around her gets a happy ending, she's quite forlorn and when the only man who ever kissed her comes back into her life, perhaps this time she will take matters into her own hand.
OVERALL it was all too smooth for me. There wasn't angst or drama or conflict driving this story that made it interesting for me.
Two badgers, three Scottish brothers, one villain, five dances, two weddings, three highwaymen -- there's a lot going on in this story and it's all woven together masterfully into a well-paced, emotionally charged romantic adventure with plenty of steam, a few laughs and a delightful array of characters.
Joanna is everything she should be to have her choice of suitors: well bred, moneyed, lovely, and agreeable. But after three seasons, no one has shown any interest, and it makes no sense.
In what might be one of the best first meeting scenes ever, the rugged laird of the Kincades practically steps out of Joanna's gothic romance novel and gives her the perfect kiss she'd been dreaming about.
Following her heart will test Joanna -- her patience, her priorities, her physical and emotional strength. Watching her grow beyond her expectations is glorious.
Special kudos for the cover. It's dreamy and romantic and gives a gentle nod to clinch covers of the past while still looking modern. I especially like the detail of the ribbon stretched between their hands.
It’s been a while I have read some Mrs Lauren Smith’s work. I do loved this sweet novel, with no big drama nor too much angst, the author created a lovely story of two people who get to know the other and who get confirmed they made the right choice. Joanna and Brock have had quite a first encounter, they shared a scorching kiss then he tied her to “rescue” his own sister from her brother. But by the month that passed after, they can’t stop thinking about the other. So when they see again, they still feel this deep pulse that brings them together. Mrs Smith crafted a beautiful tale of two soulmates who slowly discover and understand why they were meant to be together, he makes her felt cared and cherished while she shares the same aspirations as himself. It was like a reverse wooing, they marry then learn about the other, and each new discovery is a new stone to the future they will built together. I do loved how each meeting with other protagonists deepened their bond, reenforcing their relationship. 4,5 stars for a smoothly narrated romance.

Joanna Lennox is a beautiful, intelligent, witty young woman she doesn’t understand what’s wrong with her no man will offer her marriage. She dreams of finding love and romance and when a sexy dark brooding Scottish highlander show up in her library she finds herself very curious about his kisses. Brock Kincaid is trying to find his sister and what happen but he runs into Ashton Lennox’s sister, his sister, Rosalind's soon to be sister-in-law. He knows better than to go around kissing English ladies in dark libraries, but he just can’t help himself. I love the first meeting, the sexual tension with an amazing first kiss that rocks Joanna and Brock’s worlds. The story just keep getting better as we journey with Joanna and Brock as they navigate through their feeling, Brock has vowed to never fall in love and Joanna has always wanted a husband who loves her. I voluntarily read and reviewed this amazing story by Lauren Smith.
This book has several plot lines going at the same time.
Joanna💃💋 is the almost spinster sister of Baron Aston Lennox, one of the members of the League of Rogues. After three seasons she has had no interest at all from a potential suitor, despite her large dowry and her own personal wealth. When huge Rogish Scotsman Brock Kincade🐺🍆⛲💪, kisses 💋💋her in the library during a ball, She is overwhelmed! He is overwhelmed!
Brock🐺🍆⛲💪 is there to attend the wedding of his sister, Rosalind, to Ashton. So he will be Joanna's brother in law. He wants to be her protector, her husband!
Sir Hugo 👹🔪is trying to find an opportunity to kill Ashton. He wants to kill all the members of the League of Rogues. Who will and how will he be stopped?
I've read several of the books in this long series when they were put on sale. I recently got this one for 99¢ from Amazon.
Never Kiss a Scot, book 10 of Lauren Smith’s League of Rogues series is a sensational tale of love! Brock Kincade stole into Lennox House to rescue his sister, and unexpectedly runs into Joanna Lennox. To keep her from calling out he kisses her, and knows then he wants her for his wife. Some time later he convinces her to marry him, but swears never to fall in love, for fear he will become the monster like his father. But Joanna loves Brock, and believes that love is stronger than the demons of his past and will fight for their future! I absolutely adored these characters and the story of their love and their fight to start a new life together!
Another can't put down until done book by Lauren. If you have read The League of Rogues series, you will love the latest one between Ashton's sister Joanna and Rosalind's brother Brock. The saying goes "love at 1st sight" well this one is "love at first kiss." Brock is thought to be a brute, but is really a very protective person of the ones he loves. Joanna's family thinks she needs to be pampered but the opposite is true, she has a backbone of steel and will "fight" for the ones she loves. Love does conquer all in this one.
