Truth We Bear was the second in the Pieces of Me series. I really enjoyed both books but may have liked this one a little bit better than the first. It was always evident that James Blakely had been through some difficult times. In this book, we find out exactly what he lived through as a child. The fact that he hides it from Jezebel almost destroys their relationship.

Let me say that I really appreciated that in this duet we are able to get a POV from Jezebel in the first book, Lies We Keep and from James in this book. Both books had original plot lines that were woven together with the two main characters. It was nicely done.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book has it all. Action, drama, heart ache, suspense and off course romance. We learn about James’s backstory in this book, you get a better understanding of him and his actions in the first book by knowing this. The story alters from past to present and will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.
Blakey’s protective alpha male side is sexy as sin as he helps Jez’s put her pieces back together and heal- it makes my heart go smushy.
What a great conclusion to Jez and James’s story. I really enjoyed this Duet and would be interested to read some of the authors other works.

Danielle Rose is brilliant!

James has a few secrets of his own. It was great to see this through James POV. His life has definitely not been easy. His past begins to creep back up and haunt him which is not good for both Jezebel or James. Will James be able to move on from the past to give them a fair chance?

This book is full of mystery, suspense and so many unknowns. There are definitely also some intense heated scenes to also look forward to.

Be ready to read this book in one sitting.

Truth We Bear is the second book in the Pieces of Me duet. It was a fascinating contemporary romance. It was thrilling, steamy, and mysterious. I loved book 1 and I loved that this book was in the POV of James. It was a beautiful redemption story for James and Danielle Rose gave me everything I wanted in the conclusion to this duet.

This is a duet and is not a standalone.

When we begin this book, we get a peek at James and Jezebel's life. She is still working through her issues/past with the help of a therapist and of course her empathetic support system, James. I really loved getting to know James from his perspective. I knew that he had a mysterious past so when I began to catch a glimpse of it, it took my breath away. This man was so strong not only in his life but strong for the love of his life. He went through so much at such a young age and found a way to push past his demons and somehow find a way to move forward.

What I learned quickly is that James never fully moved on from his past list. He simply moved forward finding a way to get by without thinking of his past. This book was so healing and necessary for him in this book. For so long, he wanted to forget his life because maybe if he chose to ignore it, his past wouldn't come back to haunt him.

His past did come back in the form of his former fiance, Abigail. She brings along so much history and pain. In the beginning, I found myself annoyed with the character Abigail. I felt like she was going to ruin Jezebel and James' relationship. By the end of the book, I had so much compassion for her. This woman had lived a life that she believed was the right life in the eyes of not only her father but in the eyes of "God". People were able to use her faith and belief and prey on her without her knowledge.

There were so many great aspects of this story that made it so gratifying to read. The title is so fitting for James and his story. To overcome his past he truly had to be honest with himself and Jezebel to not only get the closure he wanted but get the closure he deserved.

I give Truth We Bear 5 stars. It was a riveting story about love, lies, and letting go that will have fans of the Pieces of Me duet feeling satisfied with this conclusion of the story. I highly recommend this book and book 1 to readers fo romance and suspense.

The first book was the blast and I was very excited for the second part in this series.
The story begins one year after the end of the first book.
This is James story, not his view of the events from the first book, but a story about his past and the demons that are haunting him everywhere. About his awful past, the lies that are connected with it, and the future he no longer hoped for, with the women that he loves. What happens when your lies and secrets caught up with you? What if the past begins to dictate your presence?
What when the past tries to destroy your future?
This book is completely dedicated to James and his terrible childhood that was already hinted at in the first book. We learn James horrible secrets from the past and his worst fears, when they knock at his door.
A very exciting, packed with action, a little mystery and a lot of erotic 🔥 book . It was a roller coaster of emotions and passion with a beautiful HEA.
Like the first book it was really good written and captivating.
I definitely enjoyed it 😍

Once again, this new to me author has flawed me with her words, Truth We Bear is book two in the Pieces of Me duet and though it's standalone, it is best to read both Lies We Keep (Book 1) and this book.

Danielle Rose is fairly new to me, the only other book of hers I have read was Lies We Keep, and I absolutely loved it and was so excited going into this book straight after book 1. She's gone and weaved her words together and created a plot so thick and intense that it has consumed me from the first chapter of book 1.

We knew from the beginning that James Blakely had been through hell in his life, but he had always been tight-lipped about it, he hadn't opened up much to anyone about the things he had been through, not even Jezebel. In fact that he won't open up about these secrets to Jezebel are is something that could quite possibly make or break their relationship.

In Truth We Bear we get James POV and we get to find out more of his past. This book picks up 12 months after book 1, and things are about to get complicated, James' past is about to come back and haunt him, and Jezebel for that matter and someone from his past is on a warpath to destroy his happiness to get what they want and the fact that he's kept so much from Jezebel isn't helping the situation one bit. You also see more how he feels about Jezebel, and how much he has fallen for her.

Will James be able to save his relationship? Or will it fall apart? Will he be able to leave his past in the past? Will his past actually let that happen?

I loved the mystery, the unknown, the suspense, and most of all the insanely hot and intense, steamy and all-consuming heated scenes in this book. It was hot enough to melt my kindle and it was addictive, I couldn't get enough. I am so glad I took a chance on this author and this duet.

I highly recommend this book, but urge people to start with Lies We Keep (Book 1) to get a better understanding of this story, the relationship, and the building up of these two characters and their intense relationship.

I was happily surprised that this book was in James’s POV. The story gave way more insight into James passed. We also got to see James’s feelings for Jezebel as well as his guilt for what happened in Lies We Keep. I really enjoyed this book!

James’s story was shorter than Jezebel’s and not as strong. The Lies We Keep eluded to James’s past that just a year after Jez put her demons to rest his come to the service.

I loved James in the previous book. He was sexy and confident and in control. That wasn’t the James I got to know in this book. For someone who prided himself on being in charge of her safety and wanting to never let her down again, his need to keep everything from Jez backfired. It felt like he was flailing around the whole time. And the people from his past were one step ahead the whole time. So much for his experiences in the military/Special Forces.

I didn’t like this James. There wasn’t much Jez in his story but what remained true was her strength and understanding - a true heroine of the story.

In the conclusion of the Pieces of Me duet, Truth We Bear, Danielle Rose takes us back to James’ childhood and how he grew up with so many dark shadows that are always consuming his thoughts.

James and Jezebel’s story continues and just as they get back into a routine after everything that happened and a period of healing and facing her demons, Jezebel knows that James has his own history and that, in time, will trust her enough to share the details.

What I do love about Danielle’s writing is that there is no confusing the then with the now. She gives enough information to make you realize how much damage has been done and why our beloved James is in the state that he is in.

Keeping his past from consuming what he and Jezebel have built becomes harder as his past and secrets slowly surface from where they were buried, both literally and figuratively. For a split second, he considers leaving it all, but he knows he’s too weak and Jezebel means too much to him to do that to her and himself.

As more of his past comes to light, he soon finds that there is a real threat that has also surfaced. The only problem is that the closer he comes to grasping at it, the faster it slips away.

With everything catching up, he tries to keep his guard up but he is only human. Without truly realizing it, by protecting what is most important to him, he might lose the inner battle with his demons.

After walking through James’ history we meet Abigail, who was the pawn to her father’s twisted and selfish plan, in more ways than just one. She first comes across as a little girl with a bad example for a father, then someone to loathe but we soon realize through her little bit of history that it was never her fault and she was an innocent in a game of cruel greed.

It all comes to an end one way or another, but will anyone else be collateral damage? How does James handle it when he is faced with his biggest, darkest demon? Would he make it right for the sake of the fallen or would he succumb to the dark?

Danielle is an excellent storyteller!

I'm newer to the world of Danielle Rose, as the Pieces of Me Duet was my first party of hers I attended, and I must say what a party it was! We met James Blakely in Lies We Keep, as he became Jezebel's bodyguard, & more, but he was a tortured soul. Now, in Truth We Bare, the super talented Danielle Rose tells us his story, and while it could be read as a stand alone, I really don't recommend it. However, with that being said, I do so LOVE LOVE LOVE how she did write this duet, because not all authors give the hero's backstory, (oh how do I word this without too much spoiler douchery of Book 1), taking place a year later when things are great, so a big BRAVO! I really loved the Now & Then parts of the story, because not only did it keep me on the edge of my seat, but I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough, so I devoured this book in a matter of hours. It also gave a huge suspense filled punch as I was trying to wade through twists while understanding James' past that may or may not have been knocking at the door. And that means that I was dropping f-bombs right & left in the meantime. Of course, he's a mouthwatering alpha, so he has to take care of business on his own while protecting his woman, so questionable decisions were made that had me wanting to shake him when secrets were kept,(& no not any other women in compromising positions were in the making of those decisions), & while in between the intensity of keeping things, there were hot sexy times that lit the sheets on fire! Yeah, so Ms. Rose has made me a new fan of hers, so cannot wait to read more by her talented & addictive self in the future! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Truth We Bear is definitely a powerful read. This is the second book in the A Pieces Of Me novel. It was definitely even better than the first book! And that was really good. In this book, Jezabel’s bodyguard James Blakely, well at this point former bodyguard, has his story told. And wow it’s a doozy! It touches on a hidden world within our world that is a whole different way of life. Deep in the woods in the middle of nowhere is a cult style world where you leave your old life behind and start anew with no electronics nothing. Where god is love and life is simple and safe. But just like in real life these places can and usually are not what they seem and in fact turn from safe to dangerous when a New comer comes along and takes over turns it dark and wrong. James escaped but not at a high price. He’s struggled with himself and buried his secrets deep so as to never feel them. Jezebel is the sunshine in his dark life and is his light at the end of the tunnel. You never knew just how scary these situations are and I feel like I was there in the room. The danger was real! And the “love” scenes oh so perfect and hot! I honestly don’t even know how to explain this book without giving it away completely. So I’m gonna just say if you like danger and hit love scenes that will curl your toes and a story written so well that you feel what the characters feel and see what they see then please read this. It’s worth it. Best book I’ve read so far this year!

The truth bared heals ... superb

This is the second book in Danielle Rose's duet Pieces Of Me, and I believe that it was a much more engrossing and emotional story. TRUTH WE BEAR is James Blakely's story. Told in both present day and flashbacks, it tells of his guilt about the past and what he does to overcome that guilt.

Even though both books are heavily connect, James's story is an extension of what we learnt about him in book one Lies We Keep. It is his full background, giving reasons as to why he acted as he did when he was a young boy. This is truly emotional and at times will break your heart. It is definitely recommended that book one be read prior to reading this one.

James's past catches up with him, how he deals with it is the crux of his story. Abigail, a name and a person he would like to forget, has come back to haunt him. This is a woman I would have loved to have hated, but in the end my heart went out to her. Was she as manipulated as James was when she was younger?

The Truth We Bear is about honesty, and learning to deal with the truths of your past - something James must do in order to move on with his life with Jezebel. A completely intriguing story that will hold your attention from the very beginning. A highly recommended read.

This is the second book in the Pieces of Me Series and I preferred it to the first book as it is a quicker read. It is not a standalone. This is the back story to how James grew up and the demons he now has to face. It picks up from where the previous book left off as Jezebel is continuing to heal thanks to James. However, the past is not to be forgotten and it is rearing its ugly head. Small snippets are coming out pertaining to the Living Light the cult-like group James grew up in and what happened to all of its members. Then there is someone writing posts as if goading James to put all of the pieces together and find the person. Adding to the mix is Abigail, the young daughter of the new pastor of the community who was supposedly expected to marry James. Filled with drama, suspense, and action this storyline just takes hold from the onset and pulls the reader along into a web of lies and shocking truths. In order to feel the impact of these written words, I recommend one clicking this book and reading it for yourself.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

I was given an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. So this takes place right after the epilogue in "lies we keep" and is told from james perspective. Ok soooooooo why was this book a thing? The first book left you with no real cliffhanger only a feeling of i dont know... meh. This book was a whole lot of his feelings on display. How he was lying and honestly im not sure why he was so scared to reveal something that was ALREADY pretty much revealed in book one. I also felt Jez was to quick to forgive his misterious behaviours. It was like he messed up, apologized, had crazy monkey sex, and all was fogiven. Im all for erotica. But im just not to happy about this book in its entirety. I do believe the author has great wording and really gets you into the feek of the book. I however didnt really think the plot twist on this was needed. I could be the only person that feels that way but these are my opinions. I am super happy that James gets his closure and finally get to move on.

This is the first time in reading this author with this one being the second in the series. It said could be read as a standalone but I do believe I would of enjoyed this one more if I had read the one proceeding this one. At times when I was reading about James and Jezebel little pieces seemed to be vague or you should know type thing with it probably being so if I had the first one. The characters are different with you getting caught up in their story though. James has a past that interested me being older have in fact seen several of the cults do some stuff for real. These two do have a depth and a history with the author weaving it well. This will also burn your fingers too if you are not careful on how you handle the reading the heat gets intense. It has a good blend of suspense too with you staying with them from beginning to end.

Must read after you read Lies We Keep or you will be lost. Jezebel and James are back in the Truth We Bare. You are going to love this one. You were right there with Jezebel and watched James help her heal. Now we learn more about James and his demons. Can I just say how much I loved this book and series. Danielle Rose takes you on this wonderful journey of surviving and healing with these two souls and adds this love that is so strong along the way. James you just want to hold onto him even more when you find out more about his past. I really love Jezebel and James together. They are so strong and bring out the best in each other. I don't want to give too much away with this one. You are just going to have to read it for yourself. I couldn't put this down. I'm so in love with the Pieces of Me series. I can't wait to get my hands on more of Danielle Rose's books.

Truth We Bear is the second book in the Pieces of Me series. This book continues with the two main characters from book one, James and Jezebel. In this book we learn more about James. It is his past that now has come to catch up to him. Truth We Bear was a fast paced, sexy romance that was an okay read for me. The conflict of the story revolved in him not being completely open about his past with Jezebel. Due to this he lied and omitted things causing problems between them. Also, there was just too much sexy times for my taste. It got a little too repetitive for me that I just skimmed those scenes. To me it seemed that they had a more physical connection than an emotional one. I did like that James admired Jezebel for how overcame her ordeal
The conflict at the end resolved too easily.

More Conflict

Wow! Reading this second book of the duet, there is so much more going on here and things really come to a head while still getting that sexually charged, steamy kicks.

This is told from James’ side and we find out about his past and struggles which start to come to the surface. His life was sadly a mess! And someone from it will cause them to test their relationship. With both Jezebel and him coming from a dark past, will they be strong enough to handle it all, especially after the terrible ordeal Jezebel went through from the first book?

Suspense, twists and conflict kept me turning the pages and I felt we get a better sense of these two with their past and what they want now in their lives.

I really enjoyed the duet and if you’re looking for a thriller with some hot, steamy romance, this is one I recommend!

James has been helping Jez deal with her trauma after being stalked by a crazy fan. A year later and she is getting her life back. James has buried his past and only told Jez the smallest details. When signs start to emerge that his past is barreling his way, he worries his past may now put her in danger. Can James take control of his past and not lose Jez in the process?

This is just my second read by Danielle Rose and I love her work. I absolutely love these characters. This series has the perfect mix of romance and suspense to keep you turning the pages. These books pulled me in from the beginning and I couldn’t read fast enough. I am looking forward to checking out more of Danielle’s books.

The conclusion to the Pieces of Me duet was satisfying. We as human beings take many things to heart...take blame for things that are completely out of our control. Jez and James are classic examples. They live their lives based on the mistaken belief that they could have changed the events that shaped their lives. This book focuses on James Blakely's past and on how the events that made him the man he is today continue to evolve around him. There are lessons to be learned about letting others in, allowing those you love to help carry the load of your emotional baggage. Will James learn to trust Jez or is their relationship doomed to burn in the aftermath of lies that were kept and omissions that threaten everyone around them.

When the Lies are Presented
In Book 1 we met Jez and James and they were at the start of a new found romance. James rescued Jez from her stalker and it is a rollercoaster of emotions to find the passion they shared before that horrible evening. The author has once again put us on a rollercoaster of emotions as these two once again, go from good to bad and back again. This story captivates you and has you craving more. It has you asking questions as to how did you make it through life coming from such a terrible past. It has you questioning decisions and placing guilt, until someone helps you see the truth.
If I could change one thing about this story I would want more for the ending, you are left with a happy ending but desiring way more.

*I received a copy of Truth We Bare in exchange for an honest review*

I expected nothing less, but Danielle Rose has done it again. I love that this story is told from James' point of view. There is so much more insight into some of the questions that were left over from Lies We Keep. I love the suspense of the mystery of James and his back story that inter-mingles with the steamy, swoon worthy story between James and Jezabel. This is a fantastic novel, and I couldn't be happier with my reading experience. This is so worth the read, don't miss out on this!!

The Truth We Bare is book 2 in The Pieces of Me series. It picks up 12 months later.. Mr. James Blakely is Jezebel Tate's bodyguard.. hired to protect her from the stalker that was after her.
Little did he know that the past of his childhood would haunt him years later... James must confront his past in order to live in the present days.. before it claims him forever.
I found this book to be exciting.. loved every page... The romance between James and Jezebel is beautiful beyond all means.. full of plenty of compassion... I can't wait to see what this author has up her sleeve for her next book...
So pick yourself copy up and give it a shot... I did and loved it..

Truth We Bear was the second installment in the Pieces of Me duet. I absolutely loved book one and I really enjoyed this one too. This one was really enjoyable for me, I always love to read from the males perspective and reading from James' POV was amazing. This story dove a lot deeper into the secrets that James has hidden away.

This addition to the duet was just as unique, just as captivating with the story line and of course very well written. It flowed seamlessly and I enjoyed every second of it. Even those moments in the books where you wanted to shout at James to just spill his guts to Jezebel, you knew that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Absolutely fantastic read!

TRUTH WE BEAR (Pieces of Me Book 2) By Danielle Rose
This is the 2nd book in the Pieces of Me series. This one is told not just from James' prospective but it is his story. This picks up a year after the last book, and Jezebel and James have fallen head over heels in love with each other. Now however, the past and James' demons are coming out to haunt him. This story has action, suspense, romance, great characters, smokin' hot chemistry and a great plot. I really loved this series. I will be looking for more of Danielle Rose's books. She is a fine story teller! This is a 5 star read for me.

The love story that began in Lies We Keep continues in Truth We Bear. James has been so supportive of Jezebel as he helps her heal from her past but now we learn about the painful past that he has as well.

James has not been forthcoming about his past but now that it has resurfaced with a vengeance, he not only needs to deal with it, but he is going to have share it as well. The secrets that he has could kept from Jezebel could be their downfall and not because of what they hold but the fact that he never told her.

James and Jezebel’s love for each other is tested but they are meant to be and show that they are much stronger together than apart.
