The internationally recognized Bible teacher and daughter of Billy Graham combines unique biblical insights and her own personal stories to show how the Holy Spirit guides us in our decisions, comforts us in pain, and stays by our side at all times, enriching our daily lives.
In Jesus in Me, Anne Graham Lotz draws on her rich biblical knowledge as well as her personal journey—including her recent cancer diagnosis—to help us understand that the Holy Spirit is not a magic genie, a flame of fire, or a vague feeling. He is a Person who prays for us, guides us in our relationships and decisions, comforts us in pain, and stays by our side at all times. In this seminal teaching, she explores seven key aspects of the Holy Spirit that will revolutionize how you understand and relate to this vital third Person in the Trinity.
As Anne writes, “One of my deepest, richest joys has been discovering by experience who the Holy Spirit is in every step of my life’s journey. Each name that He has been given—Helper, Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener, and Standby—reveals another aspect of His beautiful character and has provoked in me a deep love for the One who is my constant Companion . . . Jesus in me.”
Discover how to better love and rely on the person of the Holy Spirit—and embrace how much He loves you through His presence, power, and provision in our daily lives.
Anne Graham Lotz (born May 1948) is an American Christian evangelist. She is the second daughter of evangelist Billy Graham and his wife Ruth Graham. Anne Graham Lotz accepts speaking invitations worldwide, is founder of AnGeL Ministries, and an award-winning author.
When I first heard about this book I knew it was one I needed to read. So much has happened to Anne Graham Lotz recently. Her husband dies, her father dies and then she is diagnosed with breast cancer. So much for any one person to handle in so short of a time. But she wants us to know that the Holy Spirit was there for her in all her heartache, to comfort and sustain her through it all. She teaches us to love, enjoy, rely on, trust and listen to His whispers. And most importantly to me, how to be filled and stay filled with the Holy Spirit. Her father, Rev Billy Graham, has called her the best preacher in the family. I’ve had the privilege to hear her in person. She is a powerful voice for God. I highly recommend this book to anyone that needs a closer walk with the Lord and the encouragement and support of His Spirit in good times and difficult times. I am thankful that Anne Graham Lotz has recently finished her last chemo after a long year of chemo treatments. God is good! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher but was not required to write a review positive or otherwise. All opinions are my own.
Years ago, I got to go to Anne Graham Lotz' "Just Give Me Jesus" presentation. It was a "not to be missed" event with Fernando Ortega playing worship music, Jill Briscoe teaching on prayer, and Anne teaching Bible Study in addition to her messages during the event. This came about after her book "Just Give Me Jesus" came out. She's had several books come out since then. Her newest offering is Jesus in Me, which could also be called The Holy Spirit for Dummies.
She breaks down the Being of the Holy Spirit into the ways He lives within us and into Old Testament and New Testament ways He worked. Taking all the names of the Holy Spirit, she describes just a few of the ways He works within us and through us. In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit rested on people for a specific time or a specific job God wanted done. In the New Testament, we have become the Holy Spirit's dwelling place and thereby have direct access to God.
I remember a night that happened fifteen and a half years ago. I had gone to the doctor for a "routine" visit. "Any problems?" "Just that I'm eating Tums like candy for the indigestion." "Oh, you must have gall stones. Let's set up an ultrasound to check that out." That ultrasound didn't reveal gall stones, but many tumors in my liver, with a special name beyond just cancer. Talk about an event that turns your world upside down, this was it. One night in the week following the ultrasound, I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep until I heard a whisper in my head, "I will keep you in perfect peace because your mind is steadfast on me" repeated over and over again until I fell asleep again. I had experienced the Holy Spirit in a way I couldn't explain.
Anne's writing style is friendly, making the reader feel like she is sitting down with Anne and having a cup of coffee. The information Anne relates is not a "shove it down your throat" type writer, but a friend wanting to share the greatest things in her life.

Jesus in Me: Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion is like having a chat with author Anne Graham Lotz in which she personally encourages you to draw closer to your Heavenly Father. Anne relates personal stories, stories from fellow believers, Bible teaching, and encouragement from Scripture to inspires believers—no matter how long they’ve been on their spiritual journeys—to see God more clearly and find practical ways to know Him better. The teaching is simple enough for the newest believers and relatable to women in all seasons of life. Uplifting, strengthening & insightful!
Thanks to NetGalley & Multnomah for the opportunity to read this book!
My Favorite Quotes: “Do you, too, long for faith that really works? Faith that will see you through lonely hours of bereavement? Faith that will be strong in the face of adversity? Faith that remains unshaken when practical circumstances are shattered? Faith that shines like a light in the darkness, pointing others to Jesus? Then fully embrace the Holy Spirit with absolute, total, unreserved trust, and begin experiencing His constant presence . . . on the inside.”
“What strong, howling winds of adversity are sweeping through your life? Is the Enemy hissing in your ear, suggesting that you’ve been forgotten by God? Overlooked or unloved by Him? That in some way He is not pleased with you and that the wind is His way of punishing you? Or that it’s evidence you are not in God’s will or in His place of blessing? Instead, could it be that the wind is the Strengthener at work in your life?”
“So stay focused. Stop looking all around and comparing yourself with others. Stop looking back at what might have, could have, should have been. Stop rolling your eyes in cynical doubt or confusion. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. Get to know Jesus so you will love Jesus and trust Jesus and obey Jesus and serve Jesus and bring glory to Jesus.”
Annie Graham Lotz wrote a truly inspirational book that delves into the Holy Spirit and how to cultivate a relationship. Her message is packed with personal stories, scripture passages and steps to open up your life to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I have already shared my experience of this book with several people. This book stirred a lot of emotion and opened up new desires within me. It calls for a deep dive into yourself and taking time for personal reflection while strengthening your relationship with the trinity while strongly focusing on the Holy Spirit. Highly recommend.
Anne Graham Lotz’s book JESUS IN ME is a treasure trove of insightful teaching. Using biblical references and personal experiences, she leads the reader to deep understanding of the person of the Holy Spirit and his impact in the lives of Christians. This is not another dry theological book on doctrine. Instead, it is extremely practical , personal and pertinent. Anne’s personal revelations resonate truth, underscoring the validity of the teachings; her vulnerability in sharing intimate experiences endear her to the reader. I am amazed with the simplicity of her writing coupled with the depth of the text.
The premise of the book is experiencing the Holy Spirit as a constant companion. This idea is broken down into seven sections which teach about the various roles of the Holy Spirit and how he practically functions in these roles. Practical examples are given illustrating the concepts. The personal stories are a highlight and sets this book apart from others that address the subject. The person of the Holy Spirit is explained by detailing his names and how each name represents a role he plays in our lives: comforter, advocate, counselor, helper, intercessor, strengthener, and standby. The presence, power, purpose, and precepts of the Holy Spirit are addressed in other sections.
Another noteworthy part of this book are the appendixes, Four appendixes offer quick references to practical study aides: learning how to hear he Holy Spirit during Bible reading, learning how to be filled with the Holy Spirit, discovering your gifts from the Holy Spirit, and a self assessment. Practical indeed! ,
I can’t emphasize enough how each aspect of these teaching are so interesting and informative, a credit to Anne Lotz’s writing style and a plethora of unique personal experiences and those of others! Highly recommended!
My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a complimentary digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book resonated with me on so many levels, I would read a chapter and then the same message would be spoken at church, and then it often followed me on social media. The author points out with so many examples throughout this read how the Holy Spirit has been there for her, and when you begin thinking about it, I realized that yes, I could come up with my own examples. The author made each chapter very personal, and they are short, but they stick with you and each gave me a greater understanding of The Holy Spirit. I think personally I remember meeting Him when I was ten, and making my Confirmation, at that time we called him “The Holy Ghost”, but he has been real to me ever since. A book that you won’t be disappointed in, and I know it enriched me!
I received this book through the Publisher Waterbrook Multnomah, and was not required to give a positive review.
Review Title: Holy Spirit Realized (Review of Jesus In Me by Anne Graham Lotz) Reviewer: Janice S. Garey ***** 5 Stars
If you have ever felt a tad bit deprived of knowing what you have felt in your heart you should know about the One who indwells your heart as a Christian believer, this book is for you. It consolidates the teachings about the Holy Spirit found in the Bible. Jesus In Me is an encouragement to souls who have yearned to know more of and to trust wholeheartedly in the unseen person and power of the Holy Spirit.
Anne Graham Lotz opens the door to welcome the reader into her life with transparency. She tells of how she, the daughter of our nation's top evangelical preacher, did not receive much instruction about the Holy Spirit. This background resonated on a personal level.
Every aspect of the Holy Spirit presented in Jesus In Me is backed up by Scripture. For that reason, this book deserves a place on the reader's reference shelf. It can be used as an easy to understand reference to help in discussions with those questioning the function of the Holy Spirit.
Anne Graham Lotz, an exceptional communicator of all things concerning Jesus and the Christian faith, may have at times seemed sheltered from the common experiences of everyday Christians. The personal stories Anne shares shows she has gone through a multitude of struggles, trials, and temptations that Christians are given to work through with faith and perseverance based on abiding with Jesus. The Holy Spirit comforts, advocates, and helps as needs arise for those who put their faith in Jesus.
Jesus In Me combines the truth of Scripture with the living out of that truth shown through the personal stories portraying spiritual growth which displays as Christians go through difficulties in the strength of Jesus. Anne is transparent about her failings, convictions, and obedience. At the back of the book, she includes a listing of personal sins that may need to be confessed and repented of. She found the list helpful for her own use, and she shares it in the Appendix for those who might want to utilize it in their private quiet time. It can be rewarding to go through the list three times to be sure all sin is acknowleged and confessed to God. Anne did that and found unexpected renewal and refreshment. The exercise brought cleansing to Anne and she shares the joy known of feeling totally right with God.
For the Christian, Jesus In Me is a delight to read. It will be most appreciated by those seeking a richer and fuller experience of their faith. Salvation or transformation may be the utmost benefit or reward from reading Anne Graham Lotz's book. Eternal blessings await those who take to heart its contents.
I received an Advance Reader's Copy of the book as part of being on the launch team. I was asked to read and review the book honestly. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review. I have read and given my honest opinion in this review.
With Biblical depth and personal stories, Anne Graham Lotz teaches readers of JESUS IN ME about the Holy Spirit. The combination makes for a powerful reading experience. In the chapter called His Power to Transform Others, Lotz writes, “It is a huge life to koow that it’s not my job to convict anyone else of sin. That’s the Holy Spirit’s job. Which leaves me free to love people just as they are. Yes, I can counsel and advise if they are open to it. Yes, I can speak the truth in love. Yes, I can point out the potential consequences of their sin. But in the end the most effective thing I can do is to pray for them with a full heart of love. Because the power to transform is His alone.” (Page 103)
Every reader will find valuable insight in JESUS IN ME—no matter what your current situation. As Lots writes, “Are you confronting cancer and the related choices of doctors, surgery, treatments, and follow-up? Or maybe you need wisdom not for healthcare but for pending business decisions. Marriage. Career. Education. Do you need direct ion? Discretion? Discernment? Deliverance? Talk to your Counselor. Pour out your heart. Be honest. Transparent. Lean hard on the One who is Jesus in you.” (page 30)
I loved this one by Anne Graham Lotz! Anne is the daughter of ,who many called America’s preacher, Rev Billy Graham. And she reminds us, in this book she so wonderfully writes, that if we have Jesus in us, we are not alone. We are Never Alone! She tells us how God has always been with her, through her mother’s death, her husband’s death, and her father’s death, and now through the cancer she faces. She keeps reminding us that Jesus is in us through the Holy Spirit and she tells us how the Holy Spirit works within and prays for us when we can’t pray or speak the words. This is a wonderful book! Very well written! Thank you to #NetGalley and the publishers, Crown Publishing Group, and the author, Anne Graham Lotz, for the opportunity to read and review #JesusInMe with my honest thoughts and opinions.
Did you ever think of the Holy Spirit as a walking companion as you go through life? Someone you could talk to as a friend? Someone who helps you, fights for you, prays for you, and more? I knew He was a comforter, but honestly, I never thought much about the rest.
In JESUS IN ME Anne Graham Lotz helps us to learn more and to better understand and rely on who and what the Holy Spirit is and is capable of. I learned a lot just by reading the book through quickly but this is meant to be studied and maybe used in a small group setting. Recommended.
Living your life with the Holy Spirit as your constant companion is every Christian’s goal. This book is a intimate look inside Ann’s life and walk with her. It’s like sitting down at the kitchen table and having coffee with her and spending the morning sharing with each other. The Holy Spirit is not a magic genie, a flame of fire, or a vague feeling. He is a person who prays for us, guides us in our relationships and decisions, comforts us in pain, and stays by our side at all times. This book explores seven key aspects of the Holy Spirit.
I love a good Christian book that helps me to learn and grow so I was excited to read this book. Each chapter, I kept waiting for the book to truly begin and felt like it was more of a story about the author and her experiences than about me (the reader) discovering the holy spirit. I knew some of the book would be about her own personal experience but I didn't realize that would be the main focus, so I was disappointed in this book to use for spiritual growth.
Reading this book, along with the study guide changed my Bible study and it changed me. I finally learned a way to meditate on the Word, examine each portion, and listening to the Holy Spirit. I read this book at a time when God was taking me through some really big decisions, and He spoke to me right off the pages of this book. Ann gives us a complete understanding of the Holy Spirit and His work.
3⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Jesus in Me” is my first book by Anne Graham Lotz. It’s just over 300 pages and I feel like it would be a good “book club” book for a small group at church. A lot of things can be discussed, while helping each other obtain a deeper understanding of the Holy Spirit. In the book AGL talks mostly about the Holy Spirit, explaining term such as ; help mate, advocate and intercessor. Always following up with scripture to state the example. I really enjoyed chapter 21 because AGL talked about holiness and the church today. I found a lot of what she said to be true in my experience. Throughout the book she continually shared spiritual, personal and scriptural examples. She was very honest about her life and I thought that very brave of her to share some terrible things that happened to her. It felt like she was sharing her testimony, which I suppose she was and that was encouraging. Lastly, AGL gives a spiritual checklist along with a spiritual gift assessment which may be be helpful for some people. The one thing I was concerned about was that some might finish this and feel the need to become legalistic. AGL talked about a lot of things to do and I hope we always do everything out of great love for God. Again, I did enjoyed this and I know I grew because of it. I do recommend this book. This was a NETGALLEY gift from the publisher and all opinions are my own. Thank you for reading my honest review.
I've always enjoyed the preaching of Anne Graham Lotz as well as her books. She always has great insight and wisdom when it comes to biblical truth. "Jesus In Me" describes the work of the Holy Spirit in our life. He is our constant companion. Lotz shows us how to completely rely on the Holy Spirit.
Lotz helps us understand the work of the Holy Spirit through each of His names--Helper, Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener and Standby. She helps us develop a deep love for the Person of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has many jobs and serves us through them all. Lotz highlights seven of them in her book. She shows us how to enjoy His Presence, rely on His power, embrace His purpose, live by His precepts, reflect His purity and trust in His providence.
An excellent study, "Jesus In Me" helps you understand and develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit and not overlook Him because of the mystery that we have assigned to Him.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free as part of Anne Graham Lotz's "Jesus In Me" Launch Team. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
I thought the best part of the book was the appendix, though the section on spiritual gifts seemed a little disorganized and confusing as far as how it was arranged. Also, the way she explains the spiritual gift of knowledge is definitely not what I have always understood it to mean.
And when she mentions idols at one point and lists some possible idols we can all have, like spouses, our family, work, etc., she says to identify the idols and "destroy them!" I understand what she is trying to say, but that could be interpreted as "destroy your spouse, family, work..." that just bothered me that it was written and published like that, without being corrected by an editor at some point along the way.
Anne Graham Lotz latest book, Jesus in Me: Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion, is an inspiring and uplifting book. This is a must read for all Christians seeking a closer walk with Jesus. Jesus promised He would send the Holy Spirit to be our comforter, teacher, friend and to lead us into all truth. Anne definitely illustrates the Holy Spirit is all Jesus promised His disciples.
You’ll find this book filled with scriptures along with examples from Anne’s own life of the Holy Spirit ministry. It will be a book one should refer to often.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Penguin Random House and was under no obligation to post a review. This review is my honest opinion.
Excellent book and it makes my favorite list for 2024 ❤️
After reading this book I just wanted to hug it, yep that’s how much it touched me. I’ve said this about a male Christian author and now I must say it about Anne. While reading this book I felt as if we were sharing a cup of coffee and talking as friends. She draws from personal stories and her family to teach us about the Holy Spirit. The writing style was riveting and drew me in such a way that I didn't want to stop, even when I knew I needed to spend time thinking through what she'd just written. I want to start at page one and read it again right now. Thank you Anne, and may God bless your ministry and your family. Highly recommend!
This book was very good, I enjoyed reading the different topics, and I also really liked how it was all laid out. One of my favorite points that she brought out was off of Roman's 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose" The author wrote that "all things" means all things, even mundane moments throughout the day. God is using everything to shape us into who He has called us to be, even irritations and setbacks, little joys and conversations. Things that I haven't considered important. It's cool to think that in all of the little moments in my day God is using all things for my good❤️
This book is an exhaustive reference for everyone who is curious about or yearning to improve their understanding of The Holy Spirit. Anne Graham Lotz has created a wonderfully intimate work of the heart with her personal stories and in-depth knowledge of our very important relationship with God's Holy Spirit. I received an advanced reader copy of the book and I plan to read it multiple times to absorb as much of the detail as possible.
Incredible book! I listened on audible. I honestly feel like this should be read at least once a year. It’s a great for those on the Jesus Way that want to dig deeper and grow closer to Him. It goes into great depth on the Holy Spirit and how He can be a bigger part of our life.
It addresses so many different challenges and experiences in life. Every woman can gain great value at every stage of life. I’m so glad I read it now. I plan to read it yearly.
I loved this book by Billy and Ruth Graham’s daughter. She is a good writer and gives meaningful counsel and comforting words of the Holy Spirit as our constant companion.
The Holy Spirit, third member of the Trinity, is probably the least known and understood despite the awesome work He does in us today. This scripture-based book shares who the Holy Spirit is and what His work is in our lives, including and especially pointing us to Jesus. I have been familiar with Anne Graham Lotz since attending one of her Just Give Me Jesus weekends several years ago, and appreciate her sound teaching and manner of speaking, as if there are simply a few friends talking over coffee. Through her encouragement, honesty, and shared scripture, I want to continue learning more about the Holy Spirit, loving Him, and letting Him work in my heart.
The author shares much about the Christian life, including special prayers for personal revival and how one comes to faith in Jesus as Savior. One learns step by step through the seven sections of the book, including Loving the Person of the Holy Spirit, Enjoying the Presence of the Holy Spirit, Relying on the Power of the Holy Spirit, Embracing the Purpose of the Holy Spirit, Living by the Precepts of the Holy Spirit, Reflecting on the Purity of the Holy Spirit, and Trusting in the Providence of the Holy Spirit. I like how each section is laid out; I can’t think of anything that was left out! We learn much about the Trinity throughout both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.
I had not thought about it before, but Mrs. Lotz emphasizes that the Holy Spirit loves each of us individually and He isn’t “stuck” with us. But we have to allow Him to work in our lives, and the reader sees how the author demonstrates His work and presence through applicable illustrations, scripture, and her own experiences. Anne Graham Lotz has had many rich, as well as challenging, events in her life, from growing up with both parents being strong, faithful believers, to being a young mother, beginning to teach Bible study, and major life changes of recent years.
She shares these experiences without self-pity or anger. Instead, the author shows how the Holy Spirit has been with her through it all. He encourages her, convicts her, protects her, leads her even in the most challenging missionary journeys. She is open and honest about the hardest times of her life and how the Holy Spirit has comforted, helped, counseled, and led her through excruciatingly painful times.
I appreciate the demonstration of how she studies scripture with the help of the Holy Spirit. It is unique, and I want to try her suggestions after struggling with how to study in a manner that I can understand and remember it, difficult in recent years due to health challenges. I also appreciate the difference between being indwelt by the Holy Spirit and being filled with Him, a list of personal sins that can help with personal self-examination and confession, and various spiritual gifts.
This book is excellent for personal study along with a Bible and notebook, and I hope a study guide will be forthcoming in the future. Thanks to the author’s way of writing and teaching, I am definitely encouraged to learn more and allow the Holy Spirit to work in my life. I highly recommend this to anyone who is curious about Christianity, who wants to know more about Jesus and His Holy Spirit, and wants to have so much more of the Holy Spirit working through their lives.
From a thankful heart: I received a copy of this from the publisher and from NetGalley, and this is my honest review.
When Lotz's husband died a few years ago, she found great comfort and strength from God through the Holy Spirit. She shares her spiritual experiences and adds stories from others and from the Bible. While there is some exploration of the character and work of the Holy Spirit, most of the book is a memoir of her path of learning to enjoy and trust the Spirit more and more.
Lotz's writing style is a pleasure to experience. She is open and honest about her experiences, sharing the good times and the troubling ones. Rarely will one admit the times when she thought she heard the Spirit but things did not turn out as expected. Most of her book, however, is about her knowing the Spirit as Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, and Counselor.
Lotz includes a good bit of teaching too. She writes about how God strengthens us through hardship and how the Spirit convicts us of sin and disciples us. She also reviews the many roles the Holy Spirit has in our transformation to become more like Christ. “He is a divine necessity,” she writes. (3)
My favorite part of the book was the section on purpose, a great challenge. If we see our purpose as being physically fit or traveling or being a career success, what happens when we are diagnosed with a debilitating disease? If we make our life's purpose to glorify God, we can carry it out no matter our circumstances. (121)
Lotz has included good teaching in several appendixes. She helps us learn how to hear the Spirit by reviewing her Bible reading process. She also has good teaching on being filled with the Spirit and staying filled, a self-examination of sin, and the various gifts of the Spirit.
This is a good book for any Christian but particularly for those who have recently experienced the loss of a spouse or another loved one. Lotz wrote the book in the context of the loss of her husband and it is good encouragement that believers are never alone. The Holy Spirit is always our constant companion.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
I was a bit disappointed in this book. It is not a theology or even an exposition on the Holy Spirit, but more what I would describe as Anne Graham Lotz’s personal memoir of the Holy Spirit.
There is an enormous amount of pain in this book, as the author walks us through many life situations and how the Holy Spirit walked with her as the Comforter. In other situations the Holy Spirit guided her through various situations. I found these stories remarkable, although they do appear over and over in the book and it becomes a bit uncomfortable.
One glaring issue that must be addressed is the insistence that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one. This is grossly inaccurate and not borne out by Scripture. “To invite Jesus into your heart is the same thing as inviting the Holy Spirit into your heart.” Not true and it is a complex situation, but the title of the book ‘Jesus in Me’ as a work on the Holy Spirit displays an incomplete understanding of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is a third distinct person, not an imitation of another.
That being said, there are some great concepts in the book. “The conversion of a souls is the miracle of a moment, the manufacture of a saint is the task of a lifetime.” “...moment by moment surrender to the moment by moment control of the Holy Spirit.”
Curious statements: “As soon as you sin, you are no longer filled with Him.” “...(while) they (early Church leaders) were described by others as being filled with the Holy Spirit, they did not make this claim about themselves.”
Nevertheless, this book has some great expressions of truth as long as you read with a bit of knowledge and background and a good understanding of Scripture.
Anne's detailed exploration of who the Holy Spirit is and how He equips us to walk in faith is excellent. I wasn't quite sure what to expect never read anything of Anne's before but it is clear this is a book written by a person who intimately knows and loves the Holy Spirit.
Anne defines the Holy Spirit with the title of the book: "Jesus in me." The first section considers the different roles the Spirit is named in the Bible, ie, comforter, advocate, etc. And then the rest of the book details how the Spirit works and what He does and how He assists us everyday.
Anne has certainly removed any uncertainties I had about the Holy Spirit. The chapters are generally short and easy to read. Anne shares stories of her own life, some of which are a little clunky and a bit hohum but don';t we all have aspects of our life like that. She's continually challenging the reader to dig deeper, to surrender more of themselves and in particular to allow the Spirit to identify and clean out any muck that we might be carrying around.
There are a number of very useful appendices as well including how to read the Word with the Spirit's help, a cheat sheet of sins to converse with the Spirit about to see if they're relevant to yourself, and an outline of the various spiritual gifts.
I expect I'll read this again, even if for some of the great prayers she provides.
I recommend this highly especially if you're a little unfamiliar with who the Holy Spirit is or find Him all a bit to mysterious.
I received an early reader's e-book copy of the book from Multnomah via NetGalley with no expectation of a favourable review.
**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Do you enjoy a good Bible study, whether as an individual or in a group? Do you enjoy studies that encourage and strengthen you, promoting spiritual growth? Anne Graham Lotz has a new one available called, "Jesus In Me," and it could truly change your life as you study about the Holy Spirit in depth. When Jesus returned to Heaven after rising from the dead, He promised us a Comforter. That Comforter is the Holy Spirit and He is always with us! We are never alone, even though there may be times we feel alone. In this study, you will look at who the Holy Spirit is (Helper, Comforter, Strengthener, and more), how to Enjoy His Presence, how to Rely on His Power, how to Embrace His Purpose (Guides, Ignites, Shapes, and more), how to Live by His Precepts, how to Reflect His Purity, and how to Trust His Providence. It really is an in-depth look at our Constant Companion. Doesn't it look good? Pick up a copy and try it out for yourself. This book is a wonderful challenge for me. I am enjoying learning more about the Holy Spirit and will be buying this book to give as a gift to others. Anne Graham Lotz makes it personal, and that appeals to me. I highly recommend it to you!
Anne Graham Lotz latest book Jesus in Me: Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion is an inspiring and testimony of the author’s life. This book is filled with scriptures, experiences and ways to encourage Christians to walk more closely with God through His Spirit. The Holy Spirit is Jesus Himself manifested in our lives as He promised to His disciples before His death and resurrection.
This book is applicable to life’s struggles, victories and disappointments when our lives are surrendered to God’s spirit in us. Lotz writing is open and honest in an easy format that readers can connect with. The book is divided into seven parts with each part focusing on one aspect of the Holy Spirit when trusting and living as God has asked His children to live through His spirit. Jesus in Me is designed for believers, new believers, and those questioning God’s Spirit being real today.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Penguin Random House and was under no obligation to post a review. All thoughts are my own sincere ones. I highly recommend this book to women desiring to grow in their faith with Jesus Christ.
What a wonderful book about the Holy Spirit’s indwelling! Anne’s writing is so enjoyable as she relates personal stories and really connects with her readers. Her writing style truly is inspired and no matter what spiritual season you are currently experiencing, you can definitely embrace the truths and scriptures that are presented in this book. I love the way she concludes each chapter with a short personal application to help you with your take aways. She also includes several helpful tools in the appendices. I loved the part where she talks about her mom and how she wondered who would be praying for her like her mom did after her mom went on to Heaven. She then explained that the Holy Spirit would - He intercedes for us in whatever we are experiencing. What an inspiring comfort. This is a great book and easy read!
Thanks to Net Galley and Multnomah Publishers for the advanced ebook copy.
