I don't know what to say about this one.

I should have loved it more because the premise was everything I wanted to read BUT it ended up being just.. unremarkable.
Not bad, just.. forgettable.

Fans of this author's Volkov Bratva Series Mishca and Lauren The Complete Collection (Volkov Bratva, #1-3.5) by London Miller will be happy that heroine's best friend gets her own book. Amber is a talented artist, still trying to find her footing in the New York art scene. When her boss offers her an unconventional, but challenging assignment she jumps at the chance. Kyrnon “Celt” Murphy is an art thief extraordinaire, and in the midst of casing his next score, finds a priceless wonder in the girl who works there. Mixing business with pleasure has never been so complicated.

The Good:
1. I thought Amber would be consigned to the typical talk to role most POC best friends end up in mainstream romance. I have to give the author props for taking a chance that fans would be open to something less cookie cutter African/Irish heroine.

2. I started crushing on Celt in the previous installment of this series Red. (Den of Mercenaries, #1) by London Miller . He is so dreamy for killer. He has a sensitivity usually lacking for heroes in these type of reads. Love that outside of his profession, he doesn't play games with our girl's heart.

3. Amber's family drama began in the other series, but enough is explained so new readers will not be lost trying to keep up.

4. We get more information about the man in charge of the Den, and the other mercenaries too.

The Bad:
1. I only wish this were longer. It doesn't end in a cliffhanger for the couple, but I would love another installment featuring them.

Final Thoughts:
Fans of crime themed romance should definitely check out this series. Especially if you're kind of over the mafia and bikers. The Den are deadly spies, hackers, thieves, seducers ,etc of both genders. Think of Treadstone in the Jason Bourne movies, just better looking.

UPDATED:

“Irish charm, lovie.”

Pre-order Celt. on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Celt-Den-Merce...

Releases July 25th, 2016.

Some of my fave quotes from Celt.

"Besides, this was just another way that he said ‘I love you.’"

***

“Don’t encourage him ,” Lauren cut in before Luka could get out a word. “You’re asking how he’s doing, the next he’s telling you about the time he cut a man open to make him talk.”
Luka waved her words away. “I had a bad childhood.”

***

“If we’re going to have guests, you should probably warn me, eh?” Kyrnon put one hand on his hip, the other pointed to his cock. “I’m not even wearing pants.”

And ... we've finally gotten our hands on the second Den of Mercenaries book ... or some of us have, anyway. London has such a talent for spinning tales about beautifully broken men and how they've managed to get themselves in such a way that it's not just about reading the book, it's literally devouring it.

I timed myself for Celt.

Less than four hours.

4.

FOUR.

F.O.U.R.

And it probably would have been less than that for me except I have 3 kids and they're demanding little soul suckers that I love, so.

Unlike Red. which I felt was better experienced if you've previously read London's Volkov Bratva series, Celt. gives you every opportunity to pick something up and need nothing but the words inside the book. You get to see all the old characters, and some new ones, too.

Hey there, Calavera & Kit.

Yeah, I want them bad.

Meet Krynon:

Irish. Cocky. Confident.
Six minutes is all he needs to get whatever you want, okay.

description

Celt and Amber were best like this:

description

I'm not going to go too detailed into the plot or what to expect--books are better experienced without all that given away, frankly. Just know that it is worth it, all of it. But know you get to laugh, smile, sigh, melt, and hold your throat for fear your heart might leap out of it throughout the whole ride.

Worth it.

Celt. was exactly what I had hoped for.

Setting: NY
Swoon-worthy Irishman with Irish brogue still intact ✔️
Unputdownable book that keeps you entertained ✔️

I'm in love with these mercs and it. Just! Keeps! Getting! Better!

Amber Lacey was first introduced in LM's book In the Beginning. Back then, Amber was a twenty-two year-old NYU art student and the roommate of Lauren Thompson. The girls were best roomies and thick-as-thieves until Lauren met Mishca Volkov, then there was no longer the need for a roommate situation. Fast-forward three years and Amber lives alone and works as a curator at a local gallery that showcases the beautiful treasures offered to the uber-wealthy. One day when she's rushing to catch the train, a charming Irishman grabs hold of her and quickly pulls her into the train car, thereby advancing her efforts to get on board right before the doors were alarmed to shut. It was just the beginning of their romantic, slightly adventurous, and peculiar affair!

 photo image_zps22vu1yyr.jpeg

Lots of surprises in this book! For one, Kyrnon Celt Murphy was much more tender-hearted than I ever imagined he'd be. (Then again, one would have to have an inkling of tenderness and compassion in order to train Red). He met every one of Amber's needs, albeit while keeping his identity a secret and loosely explaining his occupation, of course. It figures that a professional thief would win/ steal her heart! Then again, I really wanted Amber to win! Her last relationship crashed and burned terribly and that ex-idiot boyfriend made some vexatious appearances throughout this book. Urg! I wanted to fork both his eyeballs and slowly twist the handle!

 photo image_zpsndp4osp9.gif

I was also shocked and awed to get a taste of Calavera in this book! Keep in mind that this story isn't just about Celt and Amber's coming together, as Calavera's story is intertwined and her book is up next in this series. Luna "Calavera" Santiago shares a few chapters of her own POV, and my, oh my, it's quite juicy! Her story seems as disturbing as it is scandalous...

 photo image_zpskgt7zztt.gif

Calavera is also a Den merc and one of a few of Celt's co-workers. She made her first appearance in LM's book Hidden Monsters (Volkov Bratva Book 4). Her appearance, POV, and thoughts all made it feel like we're inching closer and closer to a big showdown that involves all of the Den mercs and I love that build-up of mystery and suspense. Pieces of the puzzle are being shifted around and I'm anxious to know where Red, Calavera, and Celt will fit. My biggest fear is that the Kingmaker (Celt's boss) will start deciding quickly which merc is most disposable...and might I add how vile, intriguing, twisted, and magnificent Uilleam is?

 photo image_zpscmefdear.gif

Anymore Den mercs featured in this book?

Celt's story is not so heavy on the dark side and there's a comedic flare towards the end when the Den team assemble for an important mission. What I love most about this series (and also when the team gathered for Luka's rescue in his book) is the brotherhood and camaraderie of the mercs, despite their individual quirks and unusual backgrounds. This book is also low to non-existent on the angst scale (thank goodness).

Bonus appearances:
My bae Mishca made an appearance in the event of an emergency, making my heart flutter inappropriately! Mishca's evil twin, Red, also graces us with his presence, which is always welcome! Luka was also on hand briefly to provide his manic version of comic relief...hmm...only Luka can say and do those things and get away with it!

Bonus text:

Thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Good read, liked it!

Glad Amber finally found someone to love. Glad she wasn't as naive as she started out at the beginning of the book.

Celt was sweet. Liked him he is a gifted thief. I am glad he found happiness because he had so much pain.

Enjoy! Will read the next I think it will be really good.

Six minutes.

That's all that Kyrnon “Celt” Murphy needs to steal your heart. His childhood stolen, he was trained with a caravan of Irish Travelers from a youth to be one of the most dangerous thieves in the world. But that life of pain as a criminal, a hardened mercenary for the one the Den calls the Kingmaker, has scratched Celt into a beautiful, broken man.

Until her.

For her.

Six minutes.

That's about the time Celt sees Amber for the first time. Fate, maybe, that they shared a silent train ride together—with no promises that they'll see one another again.

So when the Kingmaker assigns Celt to steal back a stolen painting, and Celt walks into the high-end gallery Amber works at—the very gallery he's conniving to steal from—for the first time in his life, Celt may have something stolen from him...

His heart.

Tick-tock.

London Miller's writing style is one of the best third person POV's I've read in a while, and the two main characters created in Celt had me ohh-ing and awwh-ing in all the best ways—Amber and Celt (ohmigosh, CELT! And his sexy Irish brogue! *swoons*) were the perfect couple; I loved how they had an instant attraction that built, slowly but surely, into something more, something special.

And besides an adorable love-story, three things you can expect when reading Celt are: mystery, suspense, and intrigue into not only Celt and it's main characters, but others to follow—which had me adding moreandmoreandmore of this series to my TBR.

Still the one this review is four, Celt, will hold an important spot on my five-star shelf because of the—in six simple words—swoon-worthy, tender-hearted, dark and dangerous, Irishman.

Tick-tock.

Well... Well... Well...

No quería soltarlo.

(you know what I mean?).

My english review is posted on Amazon.

I am so addicted to this series it isn't funny.  Kyrnon “Celt” Murphy and Amber Lacey were fire. I loved how the story progressed and we discovered more breadcrumbs about key players. This story was sexy and delicious and I am so obsessed with this team and their secrets!

When Amber met Kyrnon she never would have expected that her whole life was about to change. OMG. The chemistry and banter and delicious back and forth was amazing. I was dying for Celt's book after reading Red and now I need more! I am moving on to book 2.5 now! 4 stars! ~Ratula

5 "AYE" STARS

Oh goody, here we go again...

Do not fear death, embrace it. Know that pain is inevitable. Learn to love it.

I thought London Miller's books couldn't get any better, I thought Red was a masterpiece (and it is), LM writing style is already perfection! To this day I have yet to read a book by her that disappoints me; Miss London makes you feel everything her characters are going through but at the end you know everything will be worth it and guys... She's done it again.

Celt is the second book of the Den of Mercenaries series, could be considered a spinoff of the Volkov Bratva Series (if you haven't read them I'm sorry for you because you're missing out BIG TIME! And did I mention there’s a bunch of hot bad boys too?)

The tale of Mafia man or any kind of bad boys falling in love and doing anything for their women are my kind of poison, I'm not even sorry, so here goes nothing:

♥♥AMBER♥♥

This is Amber's story, since she was first introduced in the Volkov Bratva books this one became one of my favorite characters and of course I wanted her to find true love and finally, finally she got it! Amber is a really likable heroine, working as an art curator she couldn't phantom all the things that were about to go down just after accepting a special job.

♥♥CELT♥♥

Kyrnon aka "Celt" *sighs* he is, in my opinion, a slightly different male character; I get the feeling he's a little bit more laid back than Mish, Nicklaus or Luka (He doesn't count as laid back since he's mental but I still love him) , don't get me wrong he's one mean and scary motherfucker, and he has a lot of baggage but I just feel he's not as closed off or as angry as Nicklaus, that been said he's not part of the Den for his pretty face, he's a thief and one of the best at it.
And since he likes his rules so much, I got one for you: Rule 70- You can fall in love with him (who wouldn’t tbh?) but make no mistake, he’s mine and I. DON'T. SHARE.

Do you want more? We get to see a few glimpses of Calavera (she’s part of the Den). In Celt she gets to share a few POVs , honestly it wasn’t enough, I need her story ASAP, my little dark heart knows her story is going to be EPIC, and I can't freaking wait.

Cherry on top, we get to see a few glances of past characters (Mishca & Lauren, Nicklaus & Reagan, Lukas & Alex) in this book, which made me so giddy; they’ve won a special place in my shelves and heart. Now I just feel like they're this little people on my mind that I know as if they were family.

Celt....was PER-FECT! After reading Red I knew this one was going to be amazeballs and it is but it's so much more , it was amazing, everything I was waiting for and more, I loved every single part of it, and Holy Moly Guacamole! the freaking mystery! Celt leaves you with more unanswered questions and more crazy theories, you cannot let this pass, CELT is a must read.

***** 4 Irish Stars *****

Celt is a thief, but not just any thief. He's the best. And he is also involved in a group of mercenaries. His handler tells him his job, and Celt perfectly executes the mission and receives payment. But his next job will change his life.

Amber is a skilled artist and works at a high end art gallery. One day, her boss gives her a job she can't refuse. This project is a little suspicious, but the money and experience outweigh the cons.

She understands what goes on in the shadows because her best friend is the wife of a mob boss. Amber can only hope that she's not involved in anything dangerous.

The romance between Celt and Amber is scorching. They are definitely one of my favorite couples in this series. Their relationship is also mixed with some mystery and suspense, and I found this story addicting.

Celt can be read as a standalone, but to fully enjoy this book, I recommend reading Red and the Volkov Bratva series. A lot of characters from the previous books are involved and each book is part of a bigger plot. I also loved how London Miller introduced the new characters. I can't wait to read about them next!

I’ve read Red and gave it two stars and didn’t think I would continue with this series at all and If it wasn’t for me seeing this author being discussed in my forum I probably wouldn’t have been reading this book at all, so thank you ladies for bringing it to my attention again, so glad you were discussing it.

My problem with Red for me was lack of chemistry between the two man characters, the mafia part was good but for me I was left feeling that Red was just okay and was in no rush to read on any further in her series.

Well I’m so glad I took a chance on Celt, I absolutely loved it and the chemistry was spot on perfect in this book, hot scenes, with the right amount of suspense. I for one cannot wait to read the rest in the series.

This is a step up from the book 1. I mean just a little better. Enjoyed the story but it all is so interconnected with the other series that you might have to go back to the first set of series to figure out who’s who. I’m not that vested. This is light on intensity and action. It needs to pick up as it’s pretty tame for a dark read. I am still enjoying this series and waiting on more of the mystery to unravel and see Nix story.

It's amazing how London Miller keeps raising the bar with each book. Celt was such a fantastically engrossing read you will simply eat it up! I absolutely fell into this book and did not rise until the very end.

We met Krynon "Celt" Murphy in Red as he was Klaus's trainer. Like how badass is he?!!! because dude Klaus was pretty badass. yep, Celt...**sigh*** he took it up a few more notches because that Irish accent! wow!

Our heroine Amber is a character we've seen briefly in the Volkov books but we really got to meet and fall in love with her here. Their chemistry just sparks! and it seems like a fast paced romance which technically it is because the book just flows so perfectly but it doesn't have that instalove that sometimes gives you that ugh feeling ya know? It simply works.

let me just say we see more of the Den we meet and have a tease of Luna and Kit which hot damn can I just say. I Want it now please! there's just sooo much juicyness and mystery in that relationship! And the motherload the Kingmaker Himself! in each book you get a small clue of a possible relationship he had but lost or some such and I can't stop my brain from trying to figure it out. He is so Alpha whose the lucky lady? (Me??!! lol ) all I know is it will be EPIC!

Loved it!

I had no doubt I was going to enjoy getting to know Celt. The minimal information on him within the first book in this series had me curious, smiling and wanting more! The woman who managed to unsettle Celt did so in such a believable and touching way. For a mysterious man, it was the girl who caught his eye that added another layer of complexity resulting in enhancing the story.

Celt was the epitome of a bad-ass but like a lot of other antiheroes, he had the charm and sweetness when it counted. He had an air of confidence which got him out of trouble more times than I could recall. They are both familiar characters. It didn't hit me straight away, but when it did it was a face palm moment. Of course! How could I have not picked up on it sooner? Too many books of similar genres can be my only excuse :)

Each mercenary brings a talent to the organisation, apart from their stealth operational skills and Celt's talents were not what I imagined. What they did allow was for a change in the usual setting for a romance to evolve and make this more than a bad guy falling for the good girl scenario. His insight into her passions showed their deep connection, articulated through beautiful descriptions and a solid starting point for what was to come.

Despite the reason behind what draws them together, both of them came across as interesting and genuine characters. As with previous books by London Miller, she manages to tie-in other characters from her previous series, placing them neatly into each story. It's an interesting take on world building outside of the paranormal/fantasy genre and something I love encountering!

What I struggled with:
*Falling for a particular false lure too many heroines fall for, you could see it coming a mile off!
*Indifference and greed

What I loved:
*Girl time
*Knowing she has some mighty power backing her should she say the word
*The chemistry
*A man who knows how to apologise with memories that last a lot longer than flowers ;)

I received an ARC of this book from the author in return for an honest review

So this one was a step up from the first book. I like how fast but realistic the relationship between main characters developed. I also enjoyed reading a little bit about the characters from the previews book, and how everyone was somehow connected. The petty drama was kept to a minimum which i was happy about. I also found that in this story i feel so much closer to the Kingmaker (which i have been dying to know more about). In this story we also get to see finally whats Celt's back story and that was a plus for me, because each one of the mercenaries usually have a story of what made them what they are. It was interesting to see how the mercenaries respect and fear the Kingmaker. I'm also pleasantly surprise by how the Kingmaker has everyone played as if they where nothing more than a chess game, how he has secretly one way or another created the destiny of each an everyone of his mercenaries.

ANYWAYS!! back to Celts story.... It was a lot of fun reading about the thief of the Den, even thought i was a little disappointed that when if came the time for him to steal the painting it felt like it was way too easy. I wanted to see him in fully in action, but all i got was him going in and out of a room and in seconds the job was done. No secret lacer, no handing from the roof or even free falling of a window with a rope.
Amber on the other hand was as expected the clueless "h" that fell for the mercenary and ended up feeling betrayed after everything came to light, but like always all is forgiven in two point five seconds because she just loves him too much. Amber was not a horrible character she was just painfully predictable.

I will read Nix next because he is the Kingmaker's older brother and also Calavera's husband! by the time i start on this review i will probably be reading the other book.

Wow! What a great continuation to this brand new series.

The story has amazing characters as they were all so love-able and intriguing and the plot was filled with tons of drama, romance and suspense. One thing we love about a story like this is all its moving parts and all the complications that arise throughout the story. We loved hearing the story as to how Celt had come to be part of the Den and for all that he endured to become of the best of the best for the craft that they trained him in and we loved also how Celt and other members of the team have a specialty they are known for separate from the just the mercenary thing. We love the men who do bad things but, are good men a heart.

Celt was one of those character's that you instantly fall in love with his wicked sense of humor, that sexy brogue right down to those bulging muscles and his intimidating stance to his good taste in women.

Amber we already loved her from Mishca and Lauren's story because we found that she always seemed to keep getting a raw deal when she was such a loving person with a great personality had a such sunny personality and was a bit of a free sprint. This time around we we found her to be all those things but, she has gained confidence in her self and about her art/craft and seemed not to give a fig what others thought of her either love me for me or kiss my a** and we a glad to see that Celt was the man who saw the women for the gem she truly was.

The chemistry between Celt and Amber was hotter than hell and their sexual romps in and out of the bedroom just as hot.I loved this pair as a couple from the moment they met they were at such ease with one another and even though Celt didn't come right out and tell Amber what he did for a living he was open and honest with what he told her and we just loved that he felt comfortable enough to tell her his secrets and about some of his life before meeting her.

Luca you made me laugh yet again...
We always love your little phrases you always make us laugh out loud.

The story was fun and flirty and filled with tons of suspense and was intriguing and we were glued to the pages the entire time. One of the things we love most about this series and Celt's story is that we get to keep revisiting with all our favorite characters from the same series and those from other series that are interwoven with the series we are currently reading.

This was an awesome story for us and we can't wait to read the rest of the series. This author is still fairly new to us and we have to say we are so loving all her works.

*** Received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review ***
This is the second book of The Den of Mercenaries and it is awesome! The book covers Kyrnon Murphy (Celt) distraught and abusive childhood while being held captive by a kidnapper. Kyrnon was rescued by the Z ( Zachariah) just as he was rescuing someone else therefore, he was recruited, handled, trained an elite group of mercenaries loyal to a man known as The Kingmaker since Zachariah ( Z ) disappearance. Celt was trained as an awesome soldier but also a bounty hunter of expensive thing (an amazing thief). The story tells of his job that brought him to Cedar Gallery, the place of employment of Amber Lacey. Amber is an artist and best friend of Lauren and Mischa. Celt and Amber sexual tension was off the charts and oh so steamy that it fog up my kindle. There are so many things that go on in this book with the suspense and action is outstanding. Ms. Miller is one of the few authors who can capture your imagination and keep it there. Her style of writing and realism lets you know that she does not half step when she's writing a novel but takes time to research her characters. She gives her character a soul and sense of humor like no other author can.  Now I will not leave too many spoilers because I want you to read THIS ONE FOR YOURSELF, It's Fantastic!

I loved Amber and I loved Celt. Why does no-one ever warn the hero that keeping secrets will only lead to trouble.

This is a really well written, captivating and very twisty romantic suspense. The main characters had depth, felt like real people (despite one being a mercenary!) and had amazing chemistry. Celt is just such a swoon-worthy hero and totally stole my heart. His intention was to use Amber but very quickly she came to mean the whole world to him.

There is intrigue that feels plausible and mystery with little breadcrumb hints to send your brain into a frenzy. There is action, adventure and peril that has you page turning as fast as possible. There is a wonderful love story that totally draws you in. Finally there is the ever mysterious, slightly sinister Kingmaker, pulling so many strings behind the scenes.

I really enjoyed this, it can be read as a standalone. I've not read the Volkov Bratva books and had no issues with continuity etc. However I will warn you that once you enter the world of the Den of Mercenaries you will not be happy until you know just what Uilleam is up to and exactly how he has manipulated all the characters into their current positions. This means you'll have to read the whole (as yet unfinished) series of books.

I recommend them and do think it's worth it.

London Miller has done it again. Every time I read one of London Miller's books. I fall in love with the characters. Call me a book slut I don't care they're HOT!!!!! My newest love is CELT. Intelligent, sexy, tall, dark and handsome with a wicked smile and a beautiful Irish accent. He's a force to be reckoned. Inside and outside the bedroom. WOW!!!!! There certain thing he must do to get the job done and if that includes falling in LOVE with the Beautiful Amber than so be it. As always she brings back our favorite characters from past books and intertwined them with the current story to flawless perfection.

Man, I love Celt and Amber.
This one has a better standalone feel, but even still it helps if you've read the works of the Volkov Bratva and Red!
This was a suspenseful and sexy book about falling in love and an art heist.

Really loving the series. This one has a lot of editing issues, which was surprising. I would have thought and editor would have picked it up.
