I enjoyed the story although the two characters kept misunderstanding one another. Given the time this was set it was easy to see how so much could be misconstrued. Cira was captivated by the same traits so many maligned Monase for having. Despite their issues they were there for one another despite the danger. I’m so glad I was able to find a copy of this book!

It’s hard to find historical romances that take place in Africa (in fact this is the first one i’ve seen that wasn’t in Egypt) so i enjoyed that aspect of this, and the love interest was sexy (a cover illustration would’ve been nice…).

but why does the heroine make the worst possible decisions at any point, and their chemistry was not that good IMO
