I’m a former slave. The sister of death. Collateral.
He’s a bad man. A cartel boss— and my everything.
I thought I was done being someones toy, but I was so very wrong. Safety is nothing more than a premise in my world, and enemies linger where I least expect them. Loyalties will be tested and bonds broken. Even my big bad wolf may not be able to save me this time.
A priceless pawn. A knight in blood stained armour. A love worthy of any sacrifice.
Lauren Lovell is an indie author from England. She suffers from a total lack of brain to mouth filter and is the friend you have to explain before you introduce her to anyone, and apologise for afterwards. She's a self confessed shameless pervert, who may be suffering from slight peen envy.

If I wasn't already in love with Rafael, I would have fallen for him thanks to HOLD ME, the second installment in L.P Lovell 's Collateral series.
He was simply perfect for Anna. Patient, tender and so respectful of her and the demons she faces, he shows an endearing personality. Oh, don't get me wrong, you'll totally see what the ruthless cartel boss is capable of!
Anna's state of mind is amazingly captured. I absolutely loved the alternating of strength and vulnerabiltily, hopelessness and resilience that battle in her head. Seeing her make progresses and fight to heal was beautiful and squeezed my heart.
Hold Me quite surprised me with a degree of darkness I didn't expect. It's raw, violent, desperate with a clever approach, twists I never saw coming.
The psychological part was difficult because it seemed very real.
The second surpise was the timeline (that I had totally wrong); the way it blends with Nero and Una's story, completing it and adding another dimension to it was so thrilling!
As you have understood by now, I completely love that emotional ride, the captivating plot led by a magnificent duo of imperfect characters that will undoubtedly stick with me. I might have cursed the author by the end, but it was for the best and I hope we won't have to wait too long for the next book!!!
I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ARC COPY OF THIS BOOK. THANK YOU!!!
Hold Me is book 2 in the Collateral series and it was excellent. I absolutely loved it from beginning to end. Anna has blossomed even more with the help of Rafe. His love for her and his desire to keep her safe and protected has her opening up so much more. Unfortunately that very thin thread is easily broken when she is taken again and this time it's harder for her to get over the pain and betrayal. As with Hate Me we were still following the time line from Kiss Me but this time around I felt there was so much more that we learned. The ending broke my heart and although it pains me to say I think Una was correct about Anna. I think the decision made was the right one even if it left Anna and Rafe broken hearted. Rafe is the head of the cartel he needs his woman to stand beside him not behind him and I believe Anna is full of surprises and she will take her place by his side. I can't wait for book 3.
2.5 stars. I like Raphael as a hero but Anna came across as even more weak in this book. She was learning to fight to defend herself but when she is taken she doesn’t even attempt to try to fight. I can’t imagine going through what she has but I can’t help but want her to have more fire inside her. Again with the annoying cliff hanger ending. Why authors can’t release stand alone or all 3 books at once if they insist on writing more than one. This is a personal pet peeve!

This was book 2 in the "Collateral" series. This book picks up where book one left off. Anna making her choice Una her sister or Raphael? They are trying to stay alive with people wanting them read Raphael with do anything to keep her alive. Anna was broken in the last book. She is in one bad situation to the next. Rafe is ruthless and brutal but will set the whole world on fire to get to her. When he is lost for what to do he takes that feeling of helplessness and literally explodes. He craves the light that Anna has but he knows what keeping her will do not only to her but to himself. This was a good read with a lot I action. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I didn't read the others in the series so I have to go back. I need to try to reconcile what happened and Una's characterization. That was a hard pill to swallow.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
Hold Me is the second book in The Collateral Series from L.P. Lovell. You need to read Hate Me before you even think about starting Hold Me.
I am a former slave. The sister of death. Collateral. He is a bad man. A cartel boss--and my everything. I thought I was done being someone's toy, but I was so very wrong. Safety is nothing more than a premise in my world, and it seems my own sister can't be trusted. Loyalties will be tested,, and even my big bad wolf might not be able to save me this time. A priceless pawn. A knight is blood stained armor. A love worthy of any sacrifice. Hate me or hold me.
If you read Hate Me then you know what a cliffhanger you were left with and couldn't wait to get your hands on Hold Me. Well...I hate to break it to you and I was shocked but your going to get another cliffhanger at the end of Hold Me. You could have knocked me over with a feather and I want the next book now. Right this second. NOW!!! I love this book and just like Hate Me I devoured Hold Me. It picks up right where Hate Me left off and you get to see a lot of Rafael and Anna right along with a lot of Nero and Una. I didn't realize they had their own series and you better believe now I want to read those two books so bad. This book is full or dark moments and just when you think poor Anna can take no more your going to be proved oh so very wrong. So if your thinking is this book will be all love and hearts and flowers you would be wrong. This book has suffering for both Anna and Rafael and and a lot of action and heart stopping moments. I had to sleep last night or I probably would not have been able to put this book down. I can't say much about the story because I do not want to give anything away. If you like dark books then this is a set of books that you do not want to miss. The ending will leave your breathless and screaming NO NO NO. I can tell you that and not ruin anything. I have no idea what the next book will be or when it will be coming but I hope it as soon and the sooner the better because I so need to know what is going to happen.
"Rise from the ashes, avecita, or remain in the burned-out shell of what you once were." Anna Vasiliev is "two halves of a very splintered whole"... a resilient, strong, beautiful woman but also extremely broken, dark, twisted and utterly ruined from her past. She struggles equally with both sides of herself but only Rafael sees much more than she is willing to be... and he is willingly patient & devoted enough to watch her take those baby steps towards empowerment. Book Two of the "Collateral" Trilogy is going to hold your heart and emotions hostage. This is a deep, dark and extremely intense story which will take a lot out of the readers and play havoc on their emotions... are you ready for this toxic dance? 5 Dangerously Toxic and yet Balming Stars for "Hold Me"... simply can't wait for Book Three to give me the much needed closure I demand!!!
I received an ARC of this book from the author and I voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you LP Lovell!
This book was so nostalgic. We were seeing Anna’s side of what happened in the Kiss of Death series. We saw a lot of Una and Nero, but they were under a different light, which made it interesting.
Even though Una and Nero are in the story, it is undoubtedly Anna and Rafe’s. We see Anna’s struggle to forgive herself. We see her internal wars and how they affect her. We also see Rafe’s unwavering love for her. How he moves mountains for her and sticks by her side.
I loved seeing Anna’s character development. We see how her resolve strengthens, how she grows as a person. We see how much of a struggle it is to move forward, but how she pushes forward because she’s a warrior.
That ending... GAH! I need book three in 2.4 seconds from now... I want to know more! That’s how wrapped up in their story I am.
To say that I was nervous about this book it's an understatement, because I was terrified but in a good way. I was nervous due to the way the first book ended but I wanted to know more so I couldn't start it fast enough. If you know this author you know that her writing is full of suspense, rawness with a touch of hotness and sassyness. LP Lovell knows what she's doing so I really recommend her books to everyone. Hold Me is her latest release and, like I said before, it's the second book from the Collateral series. But I need to tell you something, this book is not a standalone therefor you should read Hate Me first. This book keep telling Anna and Rafael's story, and what a story... But how can I say more about this book without spoiling? I don't think I can... Anna had endured so much pain in the first book that I thought that she would have a break in this new book but I was so wrong... So wrong. Rafael is still the same, a ruthless man with no remorse but with a tender spot just for Anna... And I'm done talking. I'm mad, I'm overwhelmed, I'm nervous... Did I say that I was mad?? Seriously... It's over?? This book just nailed it. The plot is superb, very well written, super dark and engaging. The mystery that surrounds this story is so dark that there were times that I thought that I couldn't breathe. Things were happening in a way that I wanted to scream or kill... I haven't decided yet... Once I started to read it I simply couldn't put it down. I wanted to sleep but I couldn't stop. This book will give you darkness, hate, crime, punishment as well as love, loyalty and... And the it ended like that and I'm mad... Mad... Seriously LP?? How could you do this to me? I want the next book... I want it so bad that I don't know if I can handle the waiting. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
STOP! Go no further unless you’ve FIRST read a) the Kiss Of Death series (3 books - I’ll list them at the bottom) and THEN b) Hate Me (Collateral, #1) which is the first book in this series.
These two series are intricately bound together and the deeper I’m pulled in, the more convinced I am that these absolutely need to be read together.
The angst and tension that LP Lovell has created is quite breathtaking. She stokes the embers of hope, while deviously planning to cruelly snuff it out when it’s least expected.
Book #2 picks up so seamlessly and thrusts you instantly back into the gut-clenching turmoil that book #1 left you feeling.
There are quite a few surprises along the way and at times it’s seems as if all is lost, only for the sun to rise yet again. You never know who or what is around the corner though, keeping you on the edge of your seat, heart in your throat.
I honestly wouldn’t want to give any more away. If you’ve read the synopsis (which I don’t do) you’ll have more than enough to tempt your tastebuds.
I absolutely loved this book. LP Lovell has outdone herself. Of course I’ve been left hanging again, desolation permeating the atmosphere. I can only hope, beg, for a third book. Outstanding!
Kiss Of Death series: Make Me, Book #0.5 Kill Me, Book #1 Kiss Me, Book #2
I've read the previous book in this series and it had surprised me. I know what type of books that this author is able to write and have had the chance to read at least one of each, and yet this series, the Collateral series, fits in just about any of the categories i've seen her write in. there was just so much of everything and yet, it really worked for the characters that she created.
Starting this book, Hold Me, i wasn't quite sure where or how it would go. There was so many avenues that this book could go and it went in its own way. Nowhere specific and yet in a predicted path that you know is just perfect for these characters. Anna is still so very broken from her past and finding out that she still has family when all her life she believed she was an orphan was shocking to say the least. When i thought this girl would have chosen one way, she absolutely went another, choosing Raphael when he seems like a stranger himself who even considering his present, wants to protect her.
I'm still wondering whether or not there will be more of this couple after this book - it was that good. I know there can be more of these two, to see just how far they'll go for one another and to find out whether or not Anna will embrace the darkness that exists within Rafe and emulate it. While i expecting something darker, things that i'm used to reading from this author, i was also glad to see that LP Lovell still stuck with the emotional pull that we had the chance of experiencing with the first book.
I'm incredibly curious to find out where this author will go from here- whether she'll continue this couples' story or if she'll find another way to pique our curiosity. One thing is for sure, i'll be truly looking forward to the next book that is to come from her.
So much action and heartbreak that I didn't even realize I made it to the end until I did.
Anna was broken in the last book but that has nothing on her shattered self we see in this one. She was taken from one horrid life only to be taken again. For all of the progress she makes, being nothing but a pawn in this tricky life takes all of that progress and throws it out the window. I couldn't help but feel for this woman, feel horrible for the life she has had to lead, for the love that she finds and for her brutal choices.
Rafe is not supposed to be the one to keep her safe. He is ruthless and brutal but will set the whole world on fire to get to her. When he is lost for what to do, he takes that feeling of helplessness and literally explodes. He craves the light that Anna has but he knows what keeping her will do not only to her but to himself.
I actually thought this was going to be a two book series until you get to the point where you know that things cannot possibly be wrapped up by the end. There is so much action and death and suspense, I was left holding my breath while gobbling up these pages. But our characters don't get "better" they get more lost and further and further away from a resolution. There are also other stories that are not finished. There is still a cartel war and the deadly sister. There is retribution to be paid and two souls that need to be healed. I can't even imagine where we are going next but I can't wait to find out.
This is part two of the Collateral series and is a continuation of Rafael and Anna’s journey.
I think I pretty much covered all bases with my previous review of Hate Me, part one to this story. Therefore I don’t need to add anything further, except to say that I am still enjoying this journey from Anna and Rafael’s perspective.
I must say, that L. P. Lovell has done a really good job to keep the readers interest throughout this series considering we have already travelled this journey with Nero and Una.
I really, really enjoy this author’s work.
This is another cliff hanger, but I am assured part three is out very soon (like imminently).
"She should be nothing, and yet this broken little bird has become everything." So I wanted more!! I feel greedy but this author always manages to hold my attention, steal my breath and break my heart all in the span of a few pages. I thought for sure Anna and Rafael would live happily ever after with all the pretty babies of the cartel yet the author holds the readers emotions hostage. I wanted to protect Anna while at the same time, set her free... "My little warrior kisses me like I’m the air she needs to breathe." Rafael does just that or so we think. It's dramatic and so freaking good. I didn't not want this novel to end. Bring on the blood shed!
Well shiiiiiiit. Anna... gah, I want to scoop her up and hug her. I can’t even believe the things she has been through but she manages to pull through and come out stronger. Rafael obviously has a part to play, but she has to fix herself from within and we follow along in this book. It’s heartbreaking at times, but hopeful too. I love seeing Anna continue to grow and become stronger and I can’t wait to see what’s next for her and Rafe!
In this one, I'm hating Una... She didn't have the right to decide on behalf Anna and broke them both. Rafael was so broken when Anna dissapear that was so hurtful to read that he send her away.
This book was gritty, gripping, raw, suspenseful and just wow! This is the second book of this series and the author keeps giving a great story while delving into some deeply seedy and dark areas. She brings the story and the characters to life in a way that just pulls you right in. I love Anna and Raefel's story, heartbreak and agony and all.
I was really looking forward to the continuation of Rafe and Anna's story. Book 1 was a belter with plenty to dig my teeth into. This one though fell a bit short. It kind of felt rushed, sub par for such a talented author. Im not overly convinced by the cover, its not shouting at me and drawing me in. Then once you get inside Anna is just urgh! She really isnt likeable anymore. Many of her actions irritated me. There is also quite a bit of repetition through out the book, things that are touched on over and over always with the same outcome.
Cliffy ending wasnt much of a surprise. Fingers crossed book 3 brings out the feistyness in Anna! Her and Una could be one hell of a team!
“I would never do anything to hurt her because her pain is worse than my own. And it would be like trying to smoke a cigarette to cure a heroin craving. Pointless.”
Argh!!!! Another cliffhanger! I am totally sucked into the drama though and NEEEEED to continue reading so I can find out how all of this insanity ends!!!!
Poor Anna is a victim yet again! She’s not even safe from her own sister.... For years, Anna considered Una her Savior but by the time this book ends, she’s perceived as one of her abusers. What Anna, Raphael, Nero and Una go through is mind-boggling and so very entertaining!!
Although I loved this book, there were a couple of obvious discrepancies. For example, A lot is omitted but what is there is jam packed full of angst and emotion - No excessive fillet or fluffy here!!!
Book 2 in the series about Anna, a young girl who was sold into the sex slave world. She has been rescued, but nothing comes easy. One set back after another until you wonder how much one poor, broken girl can survive. Her sister, Una, had been working for years to try to find her, but now that they have finally connected again, she doesn't know who she can trust. Una is cold and seemingly unfeeling. Raphael was the only one who made her feel safe and wanted again, and now he has told her to leave. Heartbroken Anna, left at the end of the book, deciding if she can go with her sister or what she could possibly do. I can't wait for the next book to see where all the characters end up. I do recommend reading the sister series of this, with the story of Una and her heart breaking journey as well. It will give you a much better understanding of the dynamics.
