I really like this series and its continued emphasis on the small folk perspective. This arc might be a hero's journey in the end, but the pages are full of concerns of people who are normally ancillary NPCs in a D&D plot. And that's really cool! Like, the problem of what do you do with the magical junk you pull out of a dungeon, for a farmer who cannot ever use it? That's interesting and engaging! I'm very excited for what this series will bring.

The dungeon beckons...

I like how quickly the joy of new visitors and their income turns to resentment in Temerity’s eyes. Newcomers complain that the food doesn’t taste like home. The farmers need to move their herds. It’s time for our heroine to have a career change.

I was into the first book but this one i found myself a combination of bored and confused. I liked the first enough to continue on to the next but I am less excited
