Evening the Score

Rate this book
Fiona Davis and Gideon Titan have nothing in common—except their mutual dislike of each other. But when they’re stuck coaching together for four months, each battle sparks flames, turning them into enemies with benefits…

Fiona Davis is an over-talkative college senior unsure what she wants to do with her life who volunteers to coach a baseball team at the suggestion of a charity close to her heart. Gideon Titan is an injured MLB player desperate to save his career, whose manager volun-told him to coach the youth team to rediscover his love of the game.

She hates his attitude and extravagant, multiple-car-owning lifestyle. He hates her constant need to prove herself and the way she snorts when she laughs. They both hate the six days a week they’re forced to see each other. What starts with a snarl boils into a sexual tension they both resent, but…the only time they aren’t arguing is when they’re naked.

They did it all backwards: enemies, co-coaches, lovers, then to some version of friends. If they want anything more, someone has to take the first step. There’s not a chance in hell it’ll be Fiona...unless Gideon can prove he’s worth the risk.

But making sacrifices is asking a lot for two people who know what it means to lose.

This was so entertaining to read! I enjoyed getting to know Fiona and Gideon and seeing them go from enemies to friends to lovers. Both have been through some hard times and have their own defense mechanisms to cope, Gideon is angry and has dug himself into a hole with his baseball career and Fiona avoids relationships to protect her heart. They bond over a love of baseball and the teen boys they're coaching and help each other open their hearts.
A well written story with good pacing, I didn't want to put this down! There were steamy romance scenes and cute bantering between Gid and Fiona. Definitely a good read!

I have to admit that I didn't think I was going to like either of the lead characters when I started this book. She was as crude as a sailor on shore leave, hiding secrets and seriously broken. He was a spoiled prima dona, mad at the world because he was injured playing baseball. But I like baseball stories and I liked the premise - co-coaching a team of teenagers for the season. It had possibilities so I gave it a shot, and am I ever glad I did.
Evening the Score is a well written story with just enough steam (warning, some of those scenes will make you blush), enough snark and enough real baseball to let me lose myself in the story. This isn't one of those stories where the author decides baseball players are sexy so we'll make the hero one and then completely forgets about the sport for the next couple of hundred pages. Gid and Fiona's challenges in turning a bunch of teenage boys into a winning under 14 baseball team, even when the last thing they want to do is work together feels genuine, as does the relationship that grows between them as they discover the pain and vulnerability that lurks under their tough as nails exteriors.
Jaqueline Snowe's story is a winner, even if you're not a big fan of America's pastime.

At the onset of this book, Gideon Titan is the epitome of the cocky, arrogant ball player that you want to hate. Meanwhile, Fiona Davis is the "do-gooder" who volunteers her time to raise awareness about texting and driving. They've been paired together to coach a youth baseball league. Gideon is instantly rude to Fiona in the hope that she'll quit and he can handle everything on his own. What he doesn't realize is that she will be a strong asset to have on his side.

Over time, Gideon learns more of Fiona's story and grows to appreciate her tenacity and dedication. Meanwhile, she sees through his rough exterior to the kinder person underneath as well. In the middle of this, they give into their attraction to one another. It's meant to be kept as casual hookups but somewhere along the way, their hearts get involved too.

The real challenge is whether or not these two can overcome their own issues so as to not sabotage their relationship.

I received a copy of this e-book from the author via the NABC RI&RI program in exchange for an honest review.

This is a funny and sexy sports romance story.Fiona Davis gets a chance to work with young athletes as co coach with pro athlete Gideon Titan the bad boy who is recovering from knee surgery. She's been a fan an thinks he's hot until she calls him to introduce herself an discuss their cocoa ching.Gideon heard from his manager that he's to coach a group of young athletes but when he finds out he has a cocoa cu an it's a woman he blows his top.He decides he'll make her so mad shell quit but he's never met Fiona shell dig in her heels and she's staying.Under the snapping at each other their sexual chemistry is smoking hot.One minute they want to kill each other an the next they want to tear off each others clothes. There are so many twists an turns to this story you will be riveted until the very last page an will be begging for more. I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes an you can feel their emotions an their pain. I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.

I wasn't sure about these two at the start - well, to be brutally honest, I wasn't sure about Gideon at the start.  He was most definitely NOT a nice person.  At all.  In fact, he was a sexist, arrogant bully.  And that's being polite.

And yet, what the author managed to do with her clever storytelling was to flip him.  Not in an obvious, jarring way, but rather in a more subtle unveiling.  And Fiona? Well, I liked her from the start.  She has a real passion in her that just shines off the page.  These two together would make a decent story.  What elevates this is the kids.  An unexpectedly fun element, which is also the backbone of the story.

Hugely enjoyable and definitely well worth a look.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Ooh Fiona is feisty! I love it! She is a whirlwind of emotions but battling to keep them all at bay! She is Sassy, sarcastic & smart with loads of compassion!

What a total Jockhole Gideon is at the start, like really? Why are the hot ones always so dickish? 😤 You can see through the act though, when he’s with his family- especially his niece! He’s such a sweetheart deep down!

God, it’s super hot too; loads of steamy scenes 🤤 give me a fan to cool down! 😵 Really loved this one! Great writing from Jaqueline 💜

This was a fab enemies-to-lovers romance!

"I'm having a hard time calming down when someone I respected, admired and rooted for turns out to be the biggest prick I've ever met."

Fiona Davis is absolutely stoked to be assigned as co-coach to a teen baseball team with her crush, Gideon Titan. Until he turns out to be a massive a-hole who tries to make her quit, so he doesn't have to work with her. However, she won't be deterred and her spunkiness and sassiness gets under Titan's skin. Not to mention the off-the-chart chemistry between them.

"If she wasn't such a hothead, determined to piss me off, prissy and annoying, I'd think she was cute."

Gideon is in a bad place. Recovering from surgery, he's also had bad press about his attitude. In an effort to turn his public image around, he's been forced to coach a kids' team. However, he's annoyed that some Barbie lookalike has been assigned as his co-coach, who likely doesn't know anything about baseball. In spite of his efforts to get rid of her, she continually surprises him but when he finally has his chance to see her quit, he changes his mind, as he sees something soft and vulnerable beneath Fiona's feisty, ballsy armour. Plus, the sizzling connection between them is a little hard to dismiss. What starts out as a handy little arrangement slowly begins to form into something else - something that Fiona refuses to acknowledge out of fear.

"Her expression had my heart skip a beat. Her fierce blue eyes were almost clear, her lips parted, her eyes hooded, and I wanted her to be mine."

I loved these two so much! There was so much hate-lust going on between the two of them that they almost had my Kindle smoking! I thought this story was funny, hot-as-hell, and angsty. Both Gideon and Fiona evolved as the story progressed - Fiona had the biggest journey with the baggage that she was carrying. A really fab read and I'm really looking forward to reading more of this author's works.

Hoo boy. Okay. First of all, I’ll be up front. I didn’t finish it. I couldn’t. I still gave it two martinis, though, because Snowe is a gifted storyteller. She created an incredible world, one I could see and smell and hear beyond the written page. I could feel the excitement of the boys on the page, and I could smell the stink of the locker room.

This isn’t easy. Snowe had a lot to unpack in this story, and she managed to do it without anything feeling cramped or shoehorned in. It was masterful, really, and I think most readers will still get a lot out of it.

I couldn’t finish it because of the male lead. I can’t call him a hero. Gideon isn’t just an asshole. He’s verbally abusive. He does it because he wants her to quit – yeah, I get that. I don’t care. People who behave that way “because I’ve got a good reason” will behave that way the next time they think they have a good reason, too.

He sexually harasses her the first time they meet. He doesn’t sexually harass her in that “I’m a privileged white athlete and no one’s ever taught me better” way. He harasses her in a deep, personal hatred kind of way. He’s never met her before, and his hatred is so deep he’s willing to be that vulgar.

I don’t know what happened after I put the book down. I’m sure he gets some kind of redemption arc, because it’s romance and they’re supposed to wind up together. That makes it worse. This man doesn’t raise a hand to her but I was in constant fear that he would. From the moment he steps onto the page he made it clear he only cared about himself, and he actively wanted to hurt this woman. He could never be redeemed in my eyes, and the thought of them winding up together made me want to throw up.

Both characters have an inner voice that is downright vulgar, but it doesn’t seem inappropriate for Fiona’s age or for Gideon’s position in life. Still, every time Gideon mentions his dick I cringed. The thought of him having sex, with anyone, of any gender, ever, made me want to cry.

Fiona wasn’t some delicate and fainting flower. I can’t say I liked her, but she was plenty tough (until she wasn’t, but female vulnerability is important in m/f romance so I’m going to try not to judge.) I don’t care if she’s a normal college student or Kellyanne Conway, no woman deserves to be with Gideon or anyone like him.

So I couldn’t finish the book, because I couldn’t root for the “happily ever after.” Snowe is a gifted, talented writer and I am deeply envious of her ability to transport the reader out of their everyday, occasionally smelly existence and into the book’s universe. I just couldn’t view Gideon with anything other than revulsion, or a relationship with him as anything but a prison sentence.

Fiona is over the moon when she finds out she’ll be coaching a kids baseball team with Gideon, a MLB star who is recovering from a recent injury - but she’s disappointed when she discovers how unpleasant he can be. Gideon doesn’t want to work with her and is determined to make her quit, but he underestimates her tenacity. Sparks fly between them the more they spend time together, but once they give in to their attraction they start to see another side to each other.

I really don’t know what to say about this - I can’t really put my finger on it, I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve read by this author but I didn’t really like this. I don’t really have much negative to say - it just didn’t work for me. There were things I liked; I enjoyed the angst and their dynamic was quite fun, the arguing and back and forth was quite good. I was invested in the plot enough to finish it and the writing was definitely engaging.

I just struggled with both characters. Gideon is outright horrible sometimes and I found Fiona quite annoying and immature and I didn’t get a lot of the decisions or choices either of them made. I also didn’t really get the physical connection between them. I found the sex scenes a little flat and lacking in chemistry and, in a couple of cases, a bit clunky and hard to follow.

It just wasn’t for me. It’s not a bad book, I just didn’t feel much connection to either character or the romance between them. It wouldn’t put me off reading anything by this author again as I’ve enjoyed the other books I’ve read by her, but I can’t really say I enjoyed reading it - I finished it more because I got past the point of being willing to DNF as I wanted to know what happened.

4.5⭐|2🌶|10% frequency

I've already read book 2&3 in this series when they got re-published, but I was still missing this one. And finally finally, I got to it 🤩

I'm a sucker for hate to love (yes, I avoid calling it enemies to lovers when they just can't stand each other). The hate and the banter, I just love it, and Gideon and Fiona are perfect at doing that 😁
Poor Fiona, she had a celebrity crush on Gideon, and then she met him and... Never meet your celebrity crush!!! They can be so disappointed in real life 😎
Still, Gideon is such a perfect human, just not to Fiona. He is the world's best uncle for Quinn and the world's best brother for Cheryl 🩷 He does so many good things. And OMG, is he good in, hm, if I say in bed, it would be right and wrong. Because it took them a while until they actually used a bed 🤣

This book also has an EXTREMELY important message.

DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE‼️‼️‼️

Honestly, no message can be that important to ☠️ for. Or ☠️ other people. If you drive, your phone must NEVER be in your hand. NEVER!
Use Bluetooth to connect your phone with your radio so you can use the buttons on your steering wheel to take a call. If you can't do that. Stop driving and make your call or answer a message!
I don't understand what's so difficult to understand in that. It's not just a suggestion, it's freaking LAW!!!!
In Germany, it's already against the law to use the phone at a red light. Your car has to be completely turned off. The off and on many cars do when they stay doesn't count.

A fun and cute read for anyone who is a baseball fan.

I enjoyed reading Gideon and Fiona's story overall. However, there were a couple of small things that really drew me out of the story. The writing flowed and was easy to read, but some details were where the book didn't fully work for me.

My biggest issue was with the baseball team. They are tasked with coaching 14-15-year-olds, but the kids read more in the 10-12 range. I found this hugely distracting because those scenes really shattered the world building. At 14-15 kids usually join a high school team instead of a rec team. And they act way more on the side of adult. I couldn't get into a 15-year-old being okay with being called Big Al like he's 10.

The other issue I had was the start of the novel. When the story opens you see Fiona as a fan of Gideon's, but is instantly taken aback that he's not the hero of her dreams. That was a perfectly fine plotline, but turning them into "enemies" after one phone call was a leap. If their relationship was going to be enemies to lovers, I would have liked to see a more fleshed out reason why they are enemies. Or at least not start her off as a fan of his. Instead of insta-love this was insta-hate that didn't really seem to work.

Other wise I liked the arch of the two characters working together for a team and to get over their anti-relationship views. The steamy scenes for fun and steamy. Overall a light romance worth a quick read.

3.5 Star Read

Overall, I enjoyed Gideon’s and Fiona’s story. These two had major chemistry and I loved their interactions while coaching, but man were they hard to like at times. Gideon is the prototypical pro athlete: attractive, a player on and off the field, and a misogynist who thought that women had no place in baseball. Add in the slow recovery from an injury and you’ve got a total douche. Fiona is a college senior who appears to have it all together but underneath all that confidence, you see that she’s afraid of being left or hurt that she never truly lets anyone in and all of her relationships are surface level.

Throughout the story, I felt like Gideon’s character grew. I loved his interactions with his sister and niece, when he stood up for Fiona while coaching, and when he took care of Fiona on the anniversary of Justin’s death. He seemed to stop thinking immediately of how things affected him and focused more on others.

Unfortunately Fiona’s character remained pretty stagnant. I get where Fiona’s struggles stem from, but after months of interactions with someone and let’s be real - they were in a relationship - couldn’t she believe what was actually happening vs. what might happen? Also wasn’t sure why she felt like it was her fault that her dad left-or did I just miss it?

Evening the Score was a decent read and I will look into reading more from this author.

Average hate-love romance novel, full of clichés and not even well written.

He is rich, hot, famous, with an asshole attitude. She is a college senior/worker with a sassy attitude. The truth? They both have attachment issues and use bickering and sex to hide and suppressed their feelings. When things get serious he is willing to open up but she is too scared to get hurt, so she switches mood like a lunatic.

Leads’ background are just sketched and overall they have a weak characterization.

The FL is annoying, an immature girl that pretend to be strong to hide traumas that are not well justified.

She complains about having family issues, but her sisters are nice and she is actually the one who ghosted them.

She acts all crude and independent when she can’t even decide on her career nor she is able to deal with her work under pressure.

She suffers two guilty clichés but the author doesn’t bother to close them, at some point she just accepts to open up and have feelings.

The ML looks more like a supporter, waiting for the FL to change while being busy with boring sub plots.

Secondary characters are not well inserted in the story, the most annoying one is the FL’s roommate. A woman she and we barely know but that help the FL sorting out all her doubts over a few conversations. Please! Obviously the character was there only to connect a potential sequel.

This was an enemies to lovers sports romance.

Absolutely loved this story! It was funny, steamy and heartwarming. The characters were well developed and relatable. Highly recommend!

Fiona Davis is a college senior and volunteers at a charity that works to educate people on texting and driving. She lost her sweetheart several years ago to the cause. She is set up by her boss Jade to coach a 14-15 year old baseball team for several months. She loves working with kids and is determined to prove herself.

Gideon Titan is a professional baseball player recovering from an ACL injury and surgery. He has been in a foal mood since his injury. He totally dotes on his sister and her little girl. His coach strongly suggested he volunteer to coach the kids to reconnect with his love of the game. He does not want a co-coach and does everything he can to force Fiona to quit.

They take pleasure in tormenting each other but are very attracted to each other as well. They end up hooking up in public places repeatedly as f* buddies. They start catching feelings for each other and become friends. After Fiona's emotional baggage causes them to break up, they reconcile at the charity gala and get their HEA.

I am not sure I could’ve liked this book anymore. I have been thinking about how my review could do this book justice, since this is only my 3rd book review I will try. I can’t not wait for more in this series or to read more books from this author. I will start by saying I love Fiona yes she has some issues that she needs to deal with but she is a kick ass chick who isn’t afraid to stand up for herself or go after what she wants or what she thinks she wants even if it turns out to be more than she thought she ever wanted. I love that you see Gideon evolve into the person you know that he could be no matter what his character makes you think at first. I am a sucker for sports themed books and this book didn’t disappoint. I like how you get see inside what makes them both who they are but it doesn’t take up to much of the story or that it isn’t the main focus of who the characters are. This book keeps you interested from start to finish. I found myself so immersed in their story I couldn’t put it down until I
knew how the story ended. This is by far the best read I have had in a long time and I know that not everyone will share my feelings for this story but I don’t think we could ever be friends ;-)

Jaqueline Snowe is a new author for me but after reading Evening the Score I will definitely be checking out some of her other work. I love a good enemies-to-lovers story and this one did not disappoint.

Gideon is pretty much an epic asshole to begin with and it leaves you wondering how on earth the author is going to get readers to connect with him. He is definitely not the “hero” that you instantly fall in love with. I love the way his character just slowly develops over the course of the book and leaves you wondering at the end how you possibly could have hated him in the beginning.

Fiona on the other hand is amazing and strong from the get go. Obviously, she has her issues she needs to work through, but you are immediately drawn to her character.

I love the banter between Gideon and Fiona, how they work with the kids, the steamy scenes are just the right amount of ‘hot’ without going over the top, Gideon's relationship with his sister and niece and the mentions of Fiona’s roommate which makes me want to know more of her story.

The baseball references were completely beyond me (I live in Australia, baseball is not big here) but that didn’t stop me from enjoying this book. Definitely recommend!

this was a cute book I’m ngl. I didn’t like it at first because both of the main characters lowk pissed me off but it grew on me. Gideon was just too much of an asshole to begin with like borderline disrespectful and that made me mad. I understand enemies to lovers but when the man is misogynistic and crude it PISSES ME OFF. he had redeeming qualities tho so it’s ok. and Fiona was just too flighty for me. but like I understood it didn’t bother me too much. I notice this trend in miss snowes books where sometimes when the FMCs have trauma they tend to make it everyone else’s problem. Fiona walked that line but never crossed it since she didn’t explicitly make her trauma others issues just her attitude when she was feeling down about it if that makes sense. Im glad Gideon stood up to her. he wasn’t dealing with her bs and made her own up to it. tough love goes far sometimes. i hated how the book ended so abruptly. like. so abruptly. hello?! that made me mad. docked an extra star just for that. I like how Michelle was involved in the story. I’m excited to read the rest in the series. I know her book is next. but I don’t recognize the guys name. he wasn’t introduced in this book unless i missed it. we will see.

I definitely read this series completely backwards. But that’s okay! They all were perfection in their own way.
I absolutely loved Brigham and Sarah. But Gideon and Fiona!?
The banter on these two was top notch!

“𝐇𝐞𝐲, 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬.”
“𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘦.”

Gideon and Fiona get thrown together to co coach a teenage baseball team. Gideon was a giant asshole right off the bat trying to get her to quit. But Fiona gave that man a run for his money and was not backing down.

I loved the relationship they had with the baseball boys and how they had them involved at getting at each other and how they backed up and loved Fiona.

“𝙲𝙵𝙳? 𝙲𝚘𝚊𝚌𝚑 𝚃𝚒𝚝𝚊𝚗 𝚜𝚊𝚒𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚙𝚊𝚢 𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚝𝚘 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚐𝚊𝚖𝚎 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚖𝚞𝚜𝚌𝚕𝚎𝚜.”

Their story had me kicking laughing the whole book. Also the spice.. 🥵 the motorcycle.. that’s all I will leave you with.
I devoured it in a day. I loved their hate to friends to lovers. The way they went from the hate banter, to joking friends, and then both falling hard.

“𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑰’𝒎 𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒍𝒚, 𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖.”

I’m sad Jaqueline doesn’t get to re release and have a cute little matching cover for Gideon and Fiona, but I still loved this so much. & seeing Michelle and her MP 👀 & Brigham! 🥰

Jacqueline Snowe is a new author to me but after reading this book that’s about to change. I really enjoyed this entertaining read about a high profile baseball player who is getting over an injury and a college senior who knows what she wants. Two very different people who are stuck together for the next four months coaching a high school baseball team.
Fiona has volunteered to coach the team because of a charity that’s close to her heart what she doesn’t expect is to butt heads with her co coach a injured MLB player who is desperate to get back on the field and save his career. Gideon is not an easy man to like and to be honest at times I wanted to throttle him but as this story unfolds we get to see the man behind the brash obnoxious player.
She hates his smart mouth and he hates her constant need to prove herself so can these enemies become friends or even lovers and will Gideon be able to prove to Fiona he is worth taking a chance on well I guess you need to read the book to find that out. Looking forward to book 2 in the Out of the Park Series as well as checking out other books by this very talented author.

“The mere thought of her smelling good also annoyed me.”

This is an enemies to lovers sports romance and it’s a really good one. Gideon and Fiona are both fantastic characters and definitely equals in every way that matters. The both give as much as the take and neither is stronger than the other. They also both share deeply buried pain and tragic past losses. Their chemistry is apparent from almost the very beginning and I loved the way they handled each other. No instalove here, their relationship evolved over time. There is also quite a bit of humor but in no way is this a romantic comedy. It’s pretty much a great time from start to finish. Jacqueline is a new author for me and I’m looking forward to reading some more of her books including the follow up to this book which is Fiona’s friend, Michelle’s story.

3 stars!

I have to say I was a little scared to start this one since this isn’t my first book by this author and I didn’t enjoy the one before. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Although there were a few things that annoyed me like:
- The heroine! I didn’t like the way she handled everything once real feelings started to show. In the beginning it worked really well with the push and pull with the hero but toward the end it was just annoying frustrating and very infuriating!
- The end! It just felt too rushed. It took forever for them to finally be together and when it did it lasted a few pages and there wasn’t even an epilogue to tie it all up nicely!
All in all it was a good read. I enjoyed it. Just not as much as I wanted to since this is my favorite trope to read.

Oh my goodness…Gideon and Fiona
Jaqueline Snowe’s “Evening the Score” is an enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance between a grumpy professional baseball player and a snarky young college grad who are thrown together to coach a Little League team. Gideon is extremely hot and sexy, but he’s kind of a jerk, and the fact that he’s currently facing a long recovery from a potentially career-ending injury doesn’t exactly brighten his mood. As quirky and gorgeous as he thinks Fiona is, this woman is sassy and dragging around enough emotional baggage that all they seem to be good for is arguing and…well…other strenuous adult activities. At times, it’s a wonder how these two get out of their own way, but a lot of healing goes on - both in the physical and emotional sense - and Snowe gives us an entertaining story with heat, chemistry, and some sweet moments.

Ooohhhh! I think I was blushing for like 75% of this book. 🥵

Gideon, Pro Baseball player that’s was injured and an asshole is paired up with Fiona, says what is on her mind college student to coach baseball together.

Gideon was not my favorite at first but boy did he grow on me. My heart hurt for Fiona and the way she shut her feelings down but one would do this experiencing what she has with people she trusted. From the jump these two were at each others throats. The angst was REAL!!! Spending theirs day together the sexual tension gets to them and I loved how, for the most part, they were able to coach and have their benefits on the side. Gideon soften upped and him and Fiona became actual friends and he thought more but when end of the season came… it played out differently.

This books was filled with baseball, tension and steam and I could not put it down.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book. I thought it was funny, well paced, and had good dialogue.

You get to see the development and growth of each character as the book progresses. I like books that have dual POVs, I find it allows you to get to know each character better.

Whereas Gideon seemed to face his issues past and present, I was left wondering about Fiona’s guilt over events in her past. When those types of things are mentioned in a book there is usually some sort of resolution or the characters are put in situations where they have to face it somehow. That didn’t happen here and left it feeling a little unfinished to me.

Overall a great read!!

Ummmm

I really don't know what to say. This book in the technical sense was well written, not just sloppily put together. It was framed great had great bones to it and the writing was on point. I liked the storyline but it was a little too detailed for my taste, not to mention it had an almost.... I don't want to say abusive, but like controlling and forceful feel to it in the beginning. I mean if your into books that leave you wishing you had an f buddy on call this is it for you but its not my cup of tea. I get that we are in the day and age where people just want sex and don't care who its with basically but that's not me and this is basically the core start to the book.

Fiona Davis is paired with Gideon Titan to coach a teenage boy baseball team. Gideon is a professional baseball player who got in trouble with his team before the end of the season. Fiona is a university student who loves baseball and volunteers with a charity that means the world to her. Gideon is injured and has an attitude. He doesn’t want Fiona to coach with him and tries to get her to quit. Fiona doesn’t give up though. They are both stubborn and have similar tragedies in their lives. I loved their interactions. I enjoyed their getting to know each other. I love good witty banter and this book delivers that in spades. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

Gideon is a hottie baseball player sidelined by an injury. He really wants to play but he is dealing with a knee injury that could end his career. When he winds up coaching a teen baseball team with Fiona. Fiona is working on her college degree and a bit relationship shy after losing her guy in a car accident. They have dislike at first sight. But Fiona is no pushover and proves herself to be a worthy coach and they have time together to get to know one another and grow on one another. I loved that their relationship moved at the pace of a baseball season, unfolding at a good believable pace. I also liked the way they worked with their team.

As soon as I picked this book up, I couldn't put it down. I loved the two main characters in this book. Gideon started out as an asshole but quickly turned into a swoon-worthy hero that I grew to love. Fiona is a tough as nails heroine when she first meets Gideon, but the more time they spend together, the more we get to know (and love) Fiona's other sides. Honestly, I loved their relationship from the start. Their constant witty banter and picking on each other set the scene for some explosive and sexy sex. I found myself laughing and swooning over their antics. Incredible read! I would highly recommend!

This book definitely kept me interested! Fiona shows the battle of a rough past affecting her pontetial future. She shows how hard it is to let someonenes in.

On the other hand, Gideon is patient and kind in her healing process. That wasn’t without some anger at first, but once getting to know Fiona, he realizes there is a lot more to her than he initially thought.

Though their fall into each other seemed hasty and quick (hating each other one minute, then taking a ride on a motorcycle a minute later), this book shows how past tragedies shouldn’t hold you back from future opportunities.
