A very interesting unique take on the genre of isekai. For one, it's aimed at an older audience and is very gorey. Excited to see where it goes with the second arc.
By far the best book of the series yet. Where the first book focused on Kaito, the second one focused on Kaito and Hina, this entry has it's focus on Elisabeth (and Kaito by her side).
A complete 5/5. Ended up finishing this book in a day, as it was impossible for me to put it down.
We get to see her fight to save the capitol from the demonic attack. The interactions from inside the capitol as the Torture Princess shows up in front of Paladins (all whom have lost friends, family and lovers due to the Torture princess) bring out something completely new to the series.
The internal struggels Elisabeth is fighting with. Kaito trying to help out Elisabeth with those struggels.
We get to see a new side of Elisabeth, one of pure innocence as she shows Kaito around the capitol on a date.
[Spoilers] We get to see her true inner feelings. We find out she hates what she has become. She has no desire to run from her fate, because she feels guilty over killing so many people. We get to see a form of Elisabeth wanting to cling on to a temporary feeling of freedom, and tranquility. A feeling of where she has done nothing wrong. [Spoilers End]
Finally done with Volume 3 of the series. It's a battle oriented volume, from start to finish. As expected, it's another masterpiece by the author.
Minor spoilers ahead.
Some tear-jerker checkpoints would be:
1) When Hina (the automaton doll) finally reunites with Kaito (her lover and master) and Elisabeth (torture princess), after her long "slumber" from her battle with the Grand King and her minions.
Kaito: “Hina, I can't tell you how happy I am to see you again. I'm so, so glad. You'll always be there to protect me, won't you?”
Hina: “Without a doubt. I am your blade and yours alone!”
2) After defeating the 2 remaining demons - King and Grand Monarch. Kaito and Hina had to leave Elisabeth behind to face her punishment by the Church, since she insisted it. And she'd soon be slated to die on the stake.
Elisabeth: “The demise of torturers should be garnished with their own screams as they sink to hell with no chance for salvation. Only such a time is a torturer's life truly complete. And in this capital, a fitting stage has been set for that finale.”

We see the end of the first story arc in this volume, and somehow it's a good ending that makes you want to read more (Ayasato has me at gunpoint). Lots of things are introduced that spice up the world-building and although the world might end the heroes of our story go on a date. And it's a good date!
Also Izabella is very cool so I'm impartial to her too. Seems like she'll be a recurring character so I'm super glad she's here. The rest of the cast literally don't ever fail to disappoint.
The philosophy of the light novel I think is an supremely charming one. If an sinner beyond redemption saves an innocent person, would their sins blind the saved from viewing them as a hero? What lengths would you go to, to save a sinner who is your saviour? As long as you're fine with gore (I honestly think it's well-written gore) this is a novel worth reading.

Another excellent volume in my opinion. So many things are happening in this book it made me read it in one go! Kaito and Elizabeth has so many great interactions throughout this volume, we even got a glimpse of Elizabeth's true feeling as the Torture Princess. Besides that, this volume really puts into perspective the true otherworldly power of both sides, whether it be holy being or demon. That final battle was unsettling in a good way. I also like that Elizabeth remained steadfast in accepting her demise.

And thus ends the overall plot that was started in the first book. I was actually surprised that it only took three books, but that said, I am glad it was only three books. Should have seen the writing on the walls when they killed the more powerful villains in the first book.
I am happy with how this book played out. The author has really found his stride and continues to produce good work that feels different than other isekai. There are moments that still feel like the author is trying to be an edge lord, but those are very far and few between, unlike the first novel. I have to say, I am excited to read more into the series and will keep purchasing the light novels.
So if you are reading this series, keep reading. It's good, and the evolution of the characters is good, and their powers feel deserved and earned. Definitely something different and worth your time.
I really blitzed through this book, and it's because I really enjoyed everything about it. The first two volumes I felt I trudged through slowly. Even though i enjoyed the characters and enjoyed the depravity of the demons. But this volume one, I couldn't put it down. I'm hoping it keeps this up for the rest of the series.
