same thing as the other volumes. Almost zero progress in their relationship. So far this is a story of two girls who are dating but act as best friends only.
A shoutout to Bookwalker, the Japanese ebook website and app, which currently has volumes 1-3 of “Hana ni Arashi” in Japanese available for free! (Limited time only~ check ‘em out here until 2022/06/23: https://bookwalker.jp/series/181545/l... )
A fun series for shojo-ai fans who want to practice their Japanese. Should be a pretty easy read for those at the intermediate level.
I picked up volume 3 randomly and enjoyed it so much. I think part of that pleasure came from being able to read the whole thing in Japanese in one sitting. The plot is simple enough that picking it up on the third volume posed no issues, either. (though I’m looking forward to reading volumes 1 and 2.)
I like the art a lot, while it’s not super distinct, 古鉢 るか Kobachi Luka has a lot of nice touches, especially in the way they draw fingers… and the characters blushing, right to the tips of those fingers! Too cute. I also like the style and range of expressions, and especially the way Kobachi draws open mouths.
Someone else remarked on this being about the girls acting more like friends (than, I guess, “lovers”) but I think the whole point of the series is that they’re friends who are dating… and they’re still growing up. I don’t mind a slow burn, or even just two girls who are really, really, really good friends. Why not? That’s romantic.
It's kinda a back-and-forth with this series. At the beginning of each volume, they are rather "distant" and at the end, they get more skinship. There's no real progress and is more of an episodic story.
But they were so close to telling their friends about their relationship though!! So close. Thanks to her sister as well. Ngl, I was a bit annoyed when the sister saw them, and then afraid, when she connected the dots and was grinning, but in the end, she did help them a bit. I'm excited for more now, actually, and hope she'll be a recurring character! ;D (Cause I feel like, they might keep playing this "game" for years, if her sister doesn't help them...)
That cliffhanger at the end tho! Could that be Igarashi? :0 She seems quite different from the backstory chapters, so I'm a bit afraid of what drama she's planning...
Just like the other two volumes, it was overall cute and had lots of funny moments.
