You're not supposed to actually die during Corpse Pose.Everyone knows that.A yoga student dies during class and suspicion falls on instructor Mariah Stevens. It doesn't help that the victim left Mariah thousands of dollars in her will. If Mariah's sister wasn't the sheriff, the handsome new detective would have already thrown her in jail. Now Mariah must find the killer between teaching classes and getting ready for the monthly merchants' fundraiser. She's definitely going to need another mocha (because life is all about balance, right?).As evidence piles up, Mariah’s friends and students have her back, but will it be enough to keep her out of jail and save her fledgling studio?
A lovely read. Okay the plot has sort of been used before but it has a wonderful quality that shines through as you read. The characters are wonderful without being plastic and the warmth, love, friendship and animosity that they feel are all easily felt. Best of all it is clearly written by someone who really knows and understand yoga. She moved to the small town to be close the her sister (the sheriff) and the make her dream of running a yoga school come true. Certainly not expecting one of her more devoted students to die in class. Now she has the new detective on her case, the husband of the dead woman convinced that she had killed her and a ruthless killer on the loose. Can she, her faithful friends and a novice wannabe yoga/detective young woman find the real killer?
This is a cozy mystery you won't want to put down. Yoga instructor Mariah Stevens normally has a few students fall asleep during meditation, but one student never wakes up. It's foul play, and Mariah is under suspicion. To save her reputation and her studio, she scrounges for clues, unknowingly putting herself at risk.
The ending on this one is unexpected and pretty tense! I won't spoil it for you, but you'll love it.
Corpse Pose Indeed was a little slow to start, so give it a few chapters. But soon enough, the banter ramps up, the characters come to life, and the plot thickens and thickens. I'm a sporadic reader of cozies, but this is the best I've read in my limited purview. Author Green has a great handle on plot development and I was surprised to find that this was her first novel. Watch this author!
Yoga + cozy mystery = yes, please! I’m a sucker for a good cozy. I also love my yoga. So finding both in one book was an absolutely wonderful thing. I really appreciated the real look at yoga people. Yes, we practice yoga. No, we are not always nice. We also eat dessert and occasionally punch pillows. That said, there is nothing that centers like a good session on the mat, and that came across beautifully in this book. The mystery was very interesting. I liked how it involved the yoga studio but wasn’t necessarily all about yoga—it brought the rest of life into yoga well. It felt a bit rushed toward the end and like the suspects dwindled quickly, but this didn’t bother me. And the finale was nail-biting (as nail-biting as cozies get, I mean). Long story short, a great pick for cozy fans, whether you do yoga or not. Recommend.
This Yoga Mat cosy mystery is a gem. I loved Mariah, her mid-life change to small business owner is well-written, her imperfect life balance realistic, and there's a great backstory that supports her burgeoning investigative skills. With a good plot, small town charm, and a great support cast, this a series worth watching out for. A fun and enjoyable read.
This is the 1st in the series. The main character is Mariah Mariah owns her own Yoga Studio and has only been open for less than a year. When one of her students is murdered, she kind of looks good for it. She thinks it won't be too bad as her sister is the chief but that really doesn't help her. There is a new detective who is investigating and he really doesn't go easy on her. She starts to look for answers herself, but will it be too little too late ?
For a debut novel and someone new to cozy mysteries, this author nailed it. The story was easy to read and moved along at a steady pace. I look forward to reading more from her.
What a fun read! I enjoyed the author's writing style and the story line was enjoyable. The characters were engaging and made me smile. I'll be reading more from this author!
I haven't read a cozy mystery in a long time and this one was delightful. An easy read and perfect for your summer reading list. Number two is coming soon I hear so that's cool. Enjoy!
I enjoyed the twists and turns of the plot and the yoga vibes throughout! Really enjoyed horse the author weaves yoga philosophy into thethe character’s everyday thoughts and the plot.
