When Zara and Lessie finally escape the Hellmouth, the last thing they expect is to wake up in Muza's hidden lair. There, they stumble into an impossible secret that just might be the key to defeating their enemies, reclaiming their home, and freeing the dragons from the dragon-rider slavery bond once and for all.
But the Dragon God, thwarted from regaining his true form, is out for revenge. And if Zara and Lessie are not careful, they may end up being swallowed by his mighty shadow after all...

So I’ve read all 6 books of this series. They started 4 star and gradually by book 4 I started to become bored.
These 6 books very very easily could have been made into a trilogy. There definitely did not need to be split into 200pg books.
The plot was there however it was missing something. The characters were great and the chemistry started with Zara and tavarrian then by book 4 just fell off a cliff. They went from being nothing to everything in a space of 1 page the chemistry was definitely lost somewhere.
I felt like the side characters in the last 2 books where also completely forgotten they was such an important part of the story through 1,2 and 3 then by 4, 5 and 6 again nothing
I gave 3 stars for plot only and for the fact that the first 3 books was good but I held out for the last 3 hoping it was all going to come together and be worth it.
Yet again, a series I adore is coming to an end. This last book in this series, though, is wonderful. We find out a few things (secrets, duh, the name of the book), and we see the end of a few things. It’s so hard to write about this book without giving spoilers. However, what I can say is that readers of the series will be well-satisfied with the end. While I wish some things had been a little less rushed, I ended the book wanting more which is always a good sign of a great series. Don’t be afraid to pick this one up; it was a well-written end to a fun series! If you haven’t started the Dragon Riders of Elantia series, do so soon! Highly recommend this book and was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.
The first book was far and away the best of this series. The characters were so vivid and alive. The rest of the series, including this book, was just okay. I felt there was zero chemistry between Zara and Tavarian after the first book. Everyone was boring. Lessie wasn’t witty or funny or anything. These could have been so much better.
Fun series available on kindle unlimited (AUS) Enjoyed the dragon rider X magic/mages fusion The 6 books could definitely have been squished into 1, plot was regularly entertaining but found the ending quite underwhelming which was disappointing. Would have enjoyed the series more if the final part (Book6) wasn’t rushed and lacking in completion (other characters, unmentioned outcome of magical items like the heart pieces, amulet, horn etc, future of dragons and dragon riders)
Things are tied up pretty well in this last book of the series. We see the last of Salcombe, poisoned to death by Zara along with the Zallarian leader. Somehow the dragon god manages to manifest as a cloud, pulls the dragons to him while breaking the bonds with their riders which very conveniently opens the way for this new "friendship" bond to work. It also makes it so that the riders now are mages with magic that's solely theirs instead of being tied into the bond. What does this mean for the eggs and as yet to be found and bound riders?
We're also introduced to an island full of free dragons who somehow made it out of the dragon war and are not and have no need to be bound to a rider. This is something that I was not really appreciative of in this book. Not only the sudden introduction of the free dragons but the mindset that the bond between dragon and rider needs to be broken all of a sudden. Not only that, but that it's solved so easily in the book. With all of the other stuff that's going on. I still don't see how Zara has so much influence, heroic acts aside, she's not a military commander. Too, it was always laughable to me that she would jump at roles that required subterfuge. She's not subtle, can't control herself or her emotions, and continually forgets she's supposed to be undercover. She's literally the worst person for this in the book but is there time and again.
Overall though, the series was average in my opinion but interesting enough that I kept at it to finish to the end.
The final book in Zara Kenrook's story could not be more epic if you wanted to. War exploding all around and Zara being literally through hell, she thinks after reunion with Tavarian and discovering some really surprising findings they can only focus on the one front. But Zallabarians are not their only worry, and even spy missions are not enough. Because Salcombe and the shadow of the Dragon God are still lurking around.. I enjoyed the rush of adventure, endorphins, action, and fierce passion embraced in this piece. Politics mixed with magic and fairytale, dragon society entwined with gods and mortals, and intense action-packed adventure pierced here and there with romance and deep emotions. All of them can be found just following an admirable couple of brave warriors with hearts in the right places. Zara and Tavarian are able to light the fire inside the reader - of course with help of their dragons. I am slightly upset it's already over, yet i am looking forward to all the future works of this author.
I really liked this series, the dragons were definitely the best part. Zara was a good character too and very likable, I adored her romance with Tavarian. But by this last book I was kinda bothered by Zara's lack of character development, with the span of 6 books and a war I expected more from her. After a while her attitude was rather annoying.
Another thing, specific to this final book, is the poor pacing by the end. Everything was wrapped up a little quickly and a little smoothly. It left me feeling a little off. I also wanted to see more of the Dragon God, it felt all very anticlimactic.
Otherwise, I enjoyed reading these books and would love to read more from this author. I'm not all too fond of first person, but she made it work very well. It was an exciting ride from beginning to end.
I know these books have been focused on the main character's pov, but I would have liked more information on the dragons, especially as we've now met the Free Dragons. What's their history? Dynamic of their society? Maybe another book in this world? Will the Free and Unbound dragons ever mix? I feel like there is so much more that can be explored in this world, other stories that can be told.
Only reason I gave 4 stars (instead of 5) is because I found more errors in this book than previous. Nothing that takes away from the story, but things that had me pause and re-read. Simple things that I felt should have been picked up.
This was a spectacular ending to a phenomenal series! Zara and Lessie never fail to disappoint, and from start to finish it is never ending adventure, intrigue, and action! I'd have to say that this was one of my favorites out of the series, I really loved the stark contrast between Zara in the beginning to Zara in the end. This was a superbly crafted adventure that took you on one wild ride! Thank you for the opportunity to review this gem! Sad to see the end, but what a way to go!
This has been my favorite series ever! I love dragons and Lessie would be one I would want to ride and bond with. And you really can't go wrong with a pretty wedding at the end. The action and terror through the whole story kept me glued to the book. I actually hated for it to end, but all good things do eventually, kind of like the Big Bang Theory, ya know?? Thank you for a great read!
The concussion felt rushed and empty. There is too much plot armor, and the bad guys are all flat and boring. The Wright also falls back on they want to rape me or someone so that the reader knows they're the bad guys, thought out the whole series. Even the mc does this to imitate a man like wtf. Then, we are excited to believe women are seen as equal to men here.
This was the biggest disappointment this year, I invested in a good time, and I got a flimsy plot and a shoe horned romance.
Was that really the end, the author has finished this tale but left all kinds of paths to travel down again. After all, there is a nation to rebuild, dragon & rider relations to work out & unexplored countries to wander through. Not to mention catching up with all the characters here we've learned to love. Still it was a wild ride & an enjoyable on at that.
I’m not good at reviewing books, but I have to try to give others encouraging words regarding these books. I read all of them straight through to the end and I never was bored or distracted at any time while I was reading them. I’ll recommend these to everyone I know. Thanks Jessica! I’m going to read your other books now! DA Wood
In all, it was a good series, apart from the mundane things mentioned in the whole series. Also Zara's empathy for the wrong people was odd. The last one was wondering if she should give Salcombe a proper burial. Frankly, Zara turned out to be not so strong. I liked her better in the first book.
As the world is battling COVID19 reading this book was a great release. I'd rather be reading about Dragon rider's battling an evil Dragon God, than thinking about this evil virus the world is fighting. Finally Zara gets her HEA. From a Fan... Pam James.
Stars 3.5 Loved the HEA from this series. This last installment rated lower for me than the rest of the series as the ending felt rushed and anticlimactic for me which was incredibly disappointing. However everything wraps up fairly nicely. I would've liked to know more about the free dragons and how things ended for them. The main battle also seemed abrupt and unrealistic... However this does not take away from the rest of the series!
Overall I give the series a 4! Highly recommend if you're a fan of adventure and magic.
I am sad to see Zara and Lessie's story come to an end but am happy they both got their happy endings. Zara and Tavarion again face impossible odds but find ways to win none the less. The dragons are saved from servitude, the country is saved and the new government treats dragon riders and non dragon riders equally. A fitting end to a fabulously fun adventure filled series!

Zara and Lessie have been through so much and grown so much in this series. Wrapping up loose ends and finding a way to stop a war is hard! Salcombe is still in the wind and causing tensions between the Elantians and Zallbarrians
An amazing conclusion to this series! This has been a wild ride with Jessie and Zara and I loved it. Jessica Drake does a phenomenal job building the worlds her characters live in; you feel like you are a part of the action and are fully immersed in what's happening. Fantastic work!
A very good read, just finished the series, both lead characters over time got better has the books went along, a few instances where rather predictable but others were surprisingly on expected. Overall it’s a wonderful series.
This has gone into my "must keep" group of books. Some unusual twists in the plot bring a somewhat unforseen ending. Yes Tavarian gets Lessa, but the fun is in the details, and the consequences. Enjoy!
It's bittersweet that Zara's & Lessie's adventures have been concluded but it's been a wonderful journey. I loved the whole series and the ending was perfect. Jasmine Walt (pen name; Jessica Drake) does not disappoint.
I enjoyed this entire series. I liked how the ending pulled everything together! Tavarian and Lessie deserve some quiet time now, but I am sure more adventures are in the future.
An excellent series with both on going main and well crafted sub-plots, both supported by a great cast of characters with Zara developing into a great heroine.
Highly recommended.
I also recommend The Baine Chronicles - another of my favourites.
This book series has been wonderful since beginning reading it and I have really enjoyed following the adventures of these fantastic characters. What a great ending to an amazing book series
